Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a permanent record of the person's life and legacy.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, a family member or close friend writes the obituary, although it can also be written by a funeral home or other authorized person. In some cases, the deceased person may have written their own obituary in advance.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It may also include information about their family, education, career, hobbies, achievements, and funeral or memorial service arrangements.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's usually between 100-500 words. The most important thing is to make sure it accurately captures the essence of the person's life and legacy.
