Obituary Preview: Hilliard- Manuel “Michael” Hilliard, age 65, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on April 26, 2024, at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Michael was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 21, 1958, to the late Manuel Hilliard and Faye Elizabeth Wilkes Hilliard. He was raised in Jacksonville and Starke. After attending Bradford High School, Michael joined the United States Army in 1978 and proudly served our country for 2 years. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Michael enjoyed a long successful career as a Butcher. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch, drinking a glass of sweet tea, and a cup of hot coffee. Michael was known for his love of hunting and fishing, but more than anything, he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Little Danny Frampton; and brothers, Darin and Joseph “Jody” Hilliard.
Michael is survived by his children, Angela (Danny) Frampton of Keystone Heights, FL and John Michael (Brittini) Hilliard of Noble, Oklahoma; sister, Keena (Ronnie) Underhill of Georgia; grandchildren, Andria (Stephen) Howell, Bryce (Jordyn) Frampton, Caitlin Frampton, Wesley Hilliard, and Landon Hilliard; along with several extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel with Brother John Frampton officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Starke, Florida where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends on Thursday an hour prior at the funeral home. Eddie was a beautiful soul who gave everything he could to the community, which he loved very much. He worked diligently to meet the needs of so many through his plumbing business, Eddie’s Drain Repair & Cleaning. Eddie worked tirelessly with his hands to leave a legacy of love and integrity. If you ask his family, they would say he was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa Eddie. They’d say he exhibited the wonder of unending love and was pure fun. Eddie ensured that his home was open to everyone. He knew no stranger. Eddie had a love for hunting, gun safety, walking the woods, and tinkering in his yard. He enjoyed mechanics and loved building. Eddie built a fun backyard for others to enjoy and for years wanted to create laughter and a happy place for generations. Eddie was filled with joy and the Lord’s light shined through him. He was such a treasure to so many, his presence will be deeply missed, the legacy of love and gifts he left behind will never be forgotten. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents George & Mary Ash.

Shirley was born in Ephesus, Georgia on May 22, 1936, to the late Alfred Sam Rollins and Sujete Rollins. Shirley Graduated from LaGrange high school in Lagrange, Georgia and shortly after high school she met and married her best friend William H. Hall, Jr. while he was in the service and stationed at Fort Benning military base in Fort Moore, Georgia. Right after the two relocated to Bradford County where they made their forever home. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a pillar of strength and grace. Throughout her life, Shirley was dedicated to her family, prioritizing their happiness and well-being above all else. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 69 years, William H. Hall, Jr. and together they shared a bond that was built on love and respect. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and planting flowers. She especially loved living on the lake. She was an amazing cook and loved recipes. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Louise Rollins and Adaline Rollins; brothers, Jerry Rollins, and Des Rollins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years William H. Obituary Preview: Pressley- Cecil Lavern Pressley, age 75, of Trenton, Florida went to his Heavenly Home on March 18, 2024, at his residence. Cecil was born on August 29, 1948, in Alachua, Florida to the late Talmadge Pressley and Edna Glisson Pressley. He was raised in Alachua and Starke and graduated from Alachua High School in 1966. Shortly after graduating, Cecil joined the United States Army where he proudly served our country for 4 years. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Cecil enjoyed a long successful career as a Lineman and was able to travel throughout the state. He served in the IBEW Union for 35 years before his retirement. Cecil loved life and lived to the fullest. He was stubborn and set in his ways, but he was very giving and could always bring laughter and joy to your day. Cecil enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending to his little farm at his home. He loved his chickens and was always trying to give away eggs to family and friends. He resided in Keystone Heights for years, but more recently made Trenton his home. Cecil was thankful to be born again and saved by God’s grace. He enjoyed attending church with his family. More than anything, Cecil loved his family and cherished every moment he had with them. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruby Tilger.

She is survived by her husband Jim Davis; two daughters, Victoria Buskuehl, Annette Buskuehl and fiancé Dave; grandsons Jason Myers and wife Tatiana, Angel Sanchez and wife Lizzie; great grandson Conner Saeger and great granddaughters River Sanchez and Harper, Everleigh, and Ella Myers; and siblings Diane O’Malley, Elizabeth Moore and partner Dennis, Paul Schofield II and wife Karen, Sidney Schofield and wife Deborah, Melodie Schofield and Lori Amy.
Joanne was pre-deceased by her son, William Buskeuhl, daughter, Shannon Stafford, granddaughter Jessica Saeger, and great granddaughters Caydence and Savannah Saeger.
Her surviving relatives, including many nieces and nephews, miss her and pray for her peaceful rest.

Obituary Preview: Ritch- Carrie Mae Ritch, age 88, of Starke, Florida went to her Heavenly Home on March 14, 2024, at Park of the Palms in Keystone Heights, Florida with her loving family by her side. Mae was born in Theressa, Florida on May 15, 1935, to the late Clyde Hall and Laura Joyner Hall. She was a lifelong resident of Bradford County. Mae attended Bradford High School where she met her best friend and forever companion, James “Jimmy” Marks Ritch. In June of 1951, Jimmy and Mae were happily married and they enjoyed 62 beautiful years together. Mae was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She had a long successful career as a Teacher’s Aide with the Bradford County School System where she served for 24 years before retiring in 1996. Mae loved worshipping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, attending church, and fellowshipping with her church family at the Church of Christ in Melrose where she was a longtime active member. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and especially loved her roses, shopping, water skiing in her younger years, and making crafts. More than anything, Mae loved her family and enjoyed spending precious time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, James “Jimmy” Marks Ritch; son, Shaun Ritch; and sister; Marjorie Hall Packham.
Mae is survived by her children, Pam (Joe) Lee of Satsuma, FL, Debbie (Norman) Traylor of Lawtey, FL, and Montez (David) Carter of Fort McCoy, FL; daughter-in-law, Christine Ritch of Keystone Heights, FL; brother, Rodney (Janice) Hall; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Stephanie, Monica, Lindsey, Ryan, and Hunter; 13 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; along with several extended family members and friends.

Obituary Preview: Andrea Caryn Macejak (née Beazley) passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in Jersey Village, Texas, after a long battle with cancer. She was born October 25, 1970, to Merrilee Caryn Beazley (née Rosene), who predeceased her in 2022, and William George Beazley, who lives in Cypress, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Carynna Boling (née Macejak) (Jazyn), her brother William (Rachel), their three children, William, Olof, Amelia, and her brother Robert Charles Beazley, all of Jersey Village, Texas. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Andrea attended the University of Texas in Austin, TX, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA and University of Houston Downtown in Houston, TX. Over the course of many years, she majored in Art History, Biology, Music, Education, etc., before receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies at UHD. She was also in the process of acquiring her master’s degree in education at UHD. As a lover of music and theater she had multiple voice and piano students over the years in Louisiana and Texas. She led several adult education programs for the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers at Houston Community College. She was a certified teacher in Texas, teaching at Shotwell and Stovall Middle Schools, in Aldine ISD.
Besides English, she spoke some Spanish and a little Greek. She spent a year in Greece as a nanny to a State Department friend of her mother’s. She sang in the choir of Second Baptist Church for years and supported the arts and education up until her death. A world-class editor and proofreader, she edited several papers and books for her father and other authors. She had just completed a children’s book in the weeks before she died. Of her many roles, she saw herself as a teacher, coach, and mentor. Hundreds have been lifted up by her over the years and are saddened by her passing. Andrea will live on in them.

She loved helping others and was able to help many throughout the years with her occupation. Chris loved being a mother and grandmother and her main passion in life was her family. Spoiling her sweet grandbabies and making memories brought her the most joy. Chris was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother that raised her, Patricia “Pat” Busterna; and her sister, Vicki Busterna.
Chris is survived by her loving children, Brian Busterna of Atlantic Beach, FL and Kaitlin Busterna of Starke, FL; brothers, Pete Busterna and John Scriva both of New York; sisters, Joann Vonohlen and Lynn Napolitano both of New York; and her grandchildren, Justice Crews and Jeremiah Crews.

Obituary Preview: – Ilse Griffis, age 97, of Starke, Florida passed away on March 11, 2024, at Windsor Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on May 30, 1926, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jahrling. Ilse was raised in Germany and met her best friend, Purvis Griffis, while he was serving in the United States Army during World War II. They were married in 1948 and moved to Bradford County, Florida shortly after. Ilse was a devoted wife and loving mother to her two sons. She enjoyed being a homemaker and tending to her family until her boys were grown and then she started her career with the State of Florida. Ilse served at the Federal Surplus Property Warehouse for years, at the Reception Medical Center, and finally at the Florida State Prison as an Executive Secretary. After 20 years of dedicated service, Ilse retired. She enjoyed being on the beach, traveling, and going on vacations. Ilse loved attending St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Starke where she was a longtime active member. She also enjoyed volunteering her time as a Pink Lady at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville and tending to her flower gardens. She was known for her green thumb and loved the beauty of freshly bloomed flowers. More than anything, Ilse loved her family and friends and enjoyed being together. She was preceded in death by her parents

Marlene was born in Raiford, Florida on October 17, 1931, to the late Rodman Reddish and Thelma Alvarez Reddish. Marlene graduated from Bradford County High School in 1949, shortly after graduation she met the love of her life Roland “Buzzy” Murwin, Jr. while he was enlisted in the United States Navy, the two married on December 28, 1951, they moved around to various states during the course of his military services. While living in California Marlene was an accountant/banker with one of the local branches, she was very proud of her banking career often reminisced during her last days. Marlene, Roland” Buzzy” and their children, moved back to Florida in 1969, the family lived in Jacksonville for several years where she attended and was employed as a Secretary for St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Following their relocation to Starke where they made their forever home, Marlene became a faithful member of Madsion Street Baptist Church where she loved worshipping her lord and savior Jesus Christ, in her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, taking camping trips with her family, sitting in her beautiful rose garden, and sewing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that will be truly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 57 years Roland “Buzzy” Murwin, Jr. brother; Marshman Reddish.

After attending Bradford High School, she married her best friend and forever companion, Bennie Terrell, on May 23, 1980. Sheila was devoted to her family and always made them her first priority. She loved being a wife and mother and later in life cherished time with her grandbabies and great grandson. Sheila was a homemaker for years and worked at Wilkinson Junior High School in Middleburg as a Cafeteria Assistant while her children were in school. She proudly retired after dedicating 22 years. Sheila loved traveling, camping, taking trips annually to the mountains, and especially loved days on Kingsley Lake. She enjoyed praising and worshipping her Lord and Savior at Christ Church of Starke. More than anything, Sheila loved her family and was thankful for the gift of time and the beautiful memories she created throughout the years. Her legacy was great, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Jousha Bennie Terrell.

Ruth was born on March 8th, 1941, in Kenansville, NC, to the late Moses Garner and Lottie Garner. She was a graduate of James Kenan High School. Here is where she spent her formative years, wed Paul Williams on August 13th, 1961, and started a home and family before relocating to Jacksonville, FL.
Ruth is preceded in death by both parents Moses and Lottie Garner, sister Viney, spouse Paul, daughter Paula, and son John.
Ruth is survived by her brothers Joseph (Donna) and Roscoe, daughter Anne (Francine) (Dan), and daughter-in-law Sheena.
But more than anything, Ruth was a Granny to everyone. She is survived by her 10 grandchildren; Rachael (Matthew), Heather (Ryan), Christi (Craig), Kaytie (George), Lil John (Lauren), Kenzie, Megan, Morgan, Nolan, and Madison. Granny also has 10 great grandchildren; Kaylee, Kyla, Landen, Ayslin, Sawyer, Jayne, Elias, Urijah, Jensyn, Grayson, and two more on the way.

Kristin was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 07, 1960, to the late Earl Russ and Wilma Reising Russ. Kristin and her family relocated to Florida when she was a young girl and has been a resident of Bradford County ever since. Shortly after High School Kristin enlisted in the United States Army where she proudly served her country for 2 years, receiving an Army Service Ribbon and Marksman Badge. Kristin was a Custodian for the Bradford County School board where she retired after 14 years, on January of 2022. Kristin graduated from college with her AA Degree. She was very proud of her accomplishments in life. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting toy story figurines, painting diamond art, Puzzles and Legos and was an avid player of words with friends. Kristin was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Earl Russ, Jr., sister Marlene Carroll.

Wise, age 91, of Lawtey, Florida, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Riverwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Starke, Florida with her loving family by her side. Rebecca was born in Ocoee, Florida on October 6, 1932, to the late John Silas Brown and Purvis Prevatt Brown. She was born in Orange County and raised in Lawtey, Florida. Rebecca met the love of her life and forever companion, Ralph Wise, on a blind date in November of 1949. It was love at first sight for the young couple. Shortly after graduating from Bradford High School, they were happily married on August 11, 1950. Following school, Rebecca started her career with the Bradford County School System, at Southside Elementary for a few years and later Lawtey Elementary as their Cafeteria Manager. She proudly served 26 years and retired in December of 1994. She was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lawtey, where she loved to praise and worship her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In her spare time, she loved cooking and traveling, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Rebecca was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bill Wise; brother, Mitchell Brown; and sister, June Brown.

Obituary Preview: Wilburn- Richard “Dennis” Wilburn, age 76, of Starke, Florida passed away on February 7, 2024, at his residence on Kingsley Lake, with his loving family by his side. Dennis was born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 4, 1947, to the late I.D. Wilburn and Betty Lou Duren Wilburn. He was raised in Nashville, Tennessee and moved to St. Augustine as a child. After attending St. Augustine High School, he proudly joined the United States Army, served two tours in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged after an injury. Following his military career, he moved back to Nashville, Tennessee and met his best friend and forever companion, Judith Johnson. Dennis and Judy were happily married on April 19, 1974, and have enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage. Dennis was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the backbone of his family and was always hard working. Dennis worked in construction and later found his calling as a driver. He was a Bus Captain for Trailways and Greyhound for 15 years and then a Truck Driver for T & T Enterprises for 5 years. In the late 1970’s, Dennis, Judy, and their sweet daughter relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and in October of 1997, they made Kingsley Lake their forever home. Dennis loved being outdoors and especially loved days on the lake. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed watching Tennessee Volunteers and Jacksonville Jaguar football. He was a longtime active member of Kingsley Lake Baptist Church where he enjoyed praising and worshipping his Lord and Savior. Dennis had the most joy when he was with his family and his granddaughters. He was certainly a treasure to his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randall Wilburn.

Obituary Preview: Hoffman – Joan Diane Hoffman, age 79 of Starke, Florida passed away on February 5, 2024, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Joan was born in the Bronx, New York on January 17, 1945, to the late Robert Davis and Dorothy Hirsch Davis. In her younger years she was a singer and dancer, she was very talented and was even offered an opportunity for a record deal. Joan married the love of her life Russell Hoffman on February 14, 1976. The two would celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary this year. In 1978 Joan, Russ and their children moved to Virginia for a few short years, as well as Fort Lauderdale, Florida before relocating to Starke, Florida in March of 1987, where they made their forever home. While living in Fort Lauderdale, Joan worked for several companies doing clerical work such as Social Services. She retired after 13 years with Dar Pro Solutions. Joan was a hard worker and took pride in that. Over the years she would support her son Robert with his running career, where she attended competitions with him all over the state. In her spare time, she enjoyed gambling, playing slots and the lottery.
With her strong motherly instincts and love for children she felt compelled to foster less fortunate children. Where she fell in love with a 15-month-old boy, Javier Sanchez (JJ). More than anything Joan loved her family and spending as much time with them as she could. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shi Anne was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 10, 1941, to the late Foster Shi Smith and Mary Anne Lipsey Smith. Shi Anne and her family lived in Starke, Florida when she was a child, she attended and graduated from Bradford Highschool, shortly after high school Shi Anne enrolled at Roanoke College in Salem, Virgina where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in social work. Following her graduation from the University in 1963, she relocated and enrolled in Heidelberg University in Germany to further her education. While in Germany she met the love of her life Preston Leon Shimer. It was love at first sight, following his completion of the military they married on August 8th, 1964. The two lived in St Augustine, Florida for 36 years before returning to Bradford County where they made their home on Hampton Lake. Shi Anne was passionate about her career as a social worker where she worked for the State of Florida in both St. Johns and briefly in Flagler County retiring after 29 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping with friends, collecting antiques and quilts, and most of all spending time with family. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother; Jimmy Smith, daughter; Leigh Anne Shimer Godino, son; Jon Shimer.
Shi Anne is survived by her husband of 59 years, Preston Leon Shimer of Hampton, FL; brother; Stephen F. (Edith) Smith, grandchildren Hunter Preston Shimer and Mason Clay Shimer, along with Many nieces and nephews.

While in school, Lynn met her best friend and high school sweetheart, Johnny Ray Camp. Following school, Johnny left for boot camp, and years later they rekindled their love, marrying on June 19, 2021. In the late 1970’s, Lynn moved to North Carolina for a few years and then returned back to Florida in Coral Springs. In 1998, Lynn made Bradford County her forever home. One of her greatest accomplishments was owning and operating Last Lap Cafe in Starke with her sister, Candy Nichols. Lynn was known for her bubbly and friendly personality. She never met a stranger, and everyone was her friend. Lynn loved others, her character would light up any room, and she found great joy in talking. She was an avid collector of vintage cans and M&M collectibles. She even had her kitchen upgraded to Coca Cola theme. Lynn didn’t drink the beverage but loved the design and colors. Lynn was such a treasure to her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Henry Shaw; step-father, Kenneth Bryan; and sister, Candy Nichols.

One of her greatest honors was helping make loved ones at Archie Tanner Funeral Home beautiful for their families. Barbara was a devoted wife to James “Buck” Norman, and loyal companion to Jim Buehne for 18 years after Bucks passing. She enjoyed adventures at sea on many cruise excursions and the peacefulness of fishing. For years Barbara attended Pine Level Baptist Church and in the last 6 years became a member of Keystone Methodist Church. More than anything, Barbara loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; William Hinton Jackson and Louise Bass Jackson and loving husband; James “Buck” Norman.
