Obituary Preview: With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Christine McCrary Carten, age 88, who departed peacefully on April 8, 2024, at her residence. Born on February 27, 1936, in Fayette County, Kentucky, Christine was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Florida Hale.
Christine was a prominent figure in the community of Georgetown, Kentucky and a proud graduate of Dunbar High School, class of 1953. Throughout her life, she pursued academic excellence, culminating in several notable achievements: she graduated from the Nancy Taylor Charm School and Fuguzzi Business College in 1966, earned an Associate Business degree from the International Correspondence School in 1994, obtained a Bachelor's degree in Specialized Studies from Ohio University in 2002 and completed her Bachelor's degree in Practical Ministry from the Southern Ohio School of Ministry in 2008.
During her residence in Chillicother, Ohio, Christine was a devoted member of the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ. Upon relocating to Georgetown, Kentucky, she became a member of the House of God Inc. in Lexington, Kentucky. Later, when her son assumed the role of Pastor, she joyfully accompanied him to Christ Temple Apostolic in Paris, Kentucky.
On October 28, 2015, Christine united in marriage with Buford Carten at the House of God Inc. in Lexington, Kentucky. She dedicated several years of diligent service as as Accounts Payable Administrator at Marietta before retiring.
Christine possessed a vibrant spirit and an insatiable curiosity for exploration and adventure. Her unwavering love for her family and her passion for travel defined her life's pursuits. Known for her infectious enthusiasm, Christine had a remarkable gift for bringing the best out of those around her.
Christine leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. she is survived by her son, Pastor Dr. Elder Thomas Persley Jr. (Pastor of Christ Temple Apostolic in Paris, Kentucky) and his wife, First Lady Teresa Persley, along with her grandson, Pastor Timothy Persley (Pastor of Christ Embassy Indianapolis, Indiana) and his wife, Pastor Natasha Persley, along with their daughter, great-granddaughter Harmony Persley. Additionally, Christine is survived by her sisters, Mattie McDaniel and Genevea (Bill) Bailey, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Thank you for Joining us as we honor and remember a remarkable woman whose spirit will forever live on in our hearts. Visitation will be Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Christ Temple Apostolic Church from 6-8 pm and Visitation  Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Christ Temple Apostolic Church 10:00-11:00 am and Funeral from 11:00-1:00. He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola (Lee) Brandenburg and James Mullins; Sister Betty Franklin, Virginia (Glenn) Castle and Edna (Buddy) Jett; Brothers, Roy (Debbie) Mullins, Wayne Mullins and Walter Mullins.
Charlie is survived by his daughter Lindsey (Paul) Hall of Winchester and son James "Matthew" Mullins of Lexington; Grandsons Landon and Gavin Hall; Granddaughters Karsyn (Mike) Adair, Debbie (Tim) Arnold and Linda Mullins; brother Ed Mullins, all of Lexington, Kentucky. Also his lifelong friend and ex-wife, Melanie Jankowski.
Charlie was a proud father and grandfather who loved sunny days and fishing almost as much as he loved Kentucky basketball. He spent many years with his beloved German Shephard, Ammo. His most prized possession was his old blue truck, gifted to him by his brother. He was a loved friend to all who knew him.
Services will be held on Friday, April 12th, 2024. The visitation will be from 3pm-4pm. At 4pm, the service will begin at Seventh Street Baptist Church, 501 E. 7th Street in Lexington, Kentucky. Fender Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

John was a beloved father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his grandchildren and indulging in his passion for collecting coins. He had a particular kindness for catfish and his taste in music leaned towards classical rock.
Aveteran of the United States Army, that belonged to the division of eighty second air born. John served his country with honor. He continued his work path by owning his own construction company and was an amazing carpenter. He enjoyed watching movies, with his favorites being of the survival genre.
John is preceded in death by his father John Jay Junkin and his mother Dorcas Junkin. He is survived by his children, Mike Junkin and Phillip Junkin, grandchildren Madisyn Brown, Mason Junkin and Ciri Junkin. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary Stewart, Ruth Foster, Jim Junkin, April Divine, Kelly Junkin and Mike Junkin.
Known for his sense of humor and talkative nature, John was a lively presence in the lives of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his quick wit and occasionally being a pain in the ass. John had a strong Christian faith that he held dear throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Fender Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
