While raising her two sons as a single mother, she received her Teaching degree from Troy State College and continued her education at the University of Alabama in the evenings, where she was rewarded her Masters in Library Science. A very driven woman who believed in education, she began her career at the local high school in Demopolis, Alabama. Encouraged by her family, she moved with her 2 boys to Deltona, Florida. Here she became the Administrator of the library at Lyman High School and later moved to Lake Brantley High School. She loved painting, flower arrangement, cake decorating and writing poetry that she also illustrated. Her family has been the recipient of many beautiful silk flower arrangements customized to their homes and a birthday or special occasion never went by that “Mama Jean” did not present her grandchildren with customized birthday cakes of their choice. Plus, at Christmas, her baking and candy making would have everyone sneaking into the kitchen after bedtime!

She was a member of the choir and never missed an opportunity to witness about our Lord to others. Kenneth W Burke - November 05, 1958 - August 29, 2022

Departed: 08/29/2022 (New Port Richey)
Obituary Preview: Kenneth Wayne Burke, age 63, passed peacefully from this world to the next on the 29th of August 2022 in Florida. Kenny was born in Ohio, November 5th,1958.
Kenny was many things to many people, almost everyone who met him ending up calling him a friend. One thing everyone agreed on was seeing Kenny's great smile and positive attitude. Over his lifetime he made and retained friends from all walks of his life. From school buddies, work colleagues, live music fans/artists, to people he just met out and about: he had a smile and warm greeting to all he knew..
Kenny was a 1976 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School in Ohio and attended the University of Las Vegas in the 1980's when he was living and working there.
He worked throughout his life in many fields - one of the positions he was most proud of was working on a research ship for the University of Miami, which allowed him to travel all over the world. Kenny over the years, also worked for Fedex, Capsa, MedCart Works and most recently TechServ. His job required him going in ahead of the electric companies during natural disasters such as hurricanes and ice storms. He enjoyed working with this company, made good friends with his coworkers and boss.
Kenny had many interests, the first being his dogs. The ones that had passed before him and his current three: Maggie, Toby and Tia. He rooted for the Ohio State Buckeyes and often reflected back on his youth baseball teams. He enjoyed golfing and going out to listen to live music. He loved living in Florida and being near the water. Many watched for his daily morning positive quotes on his social media page.
In 2013, Kenny and his then fiance Lisa, formed What's Going On - Live Music Promotion. He promoted live music, musicians and the venues that had live music. He scheduled entertainers for venues on a monthly schedule and promoted the dates they were playing. This started in Ohio and continued after the move to Florida. The concept grew and currently, there are What's Going On - Live Music connections for every state.
For 5 years, Kenny coordinated and co-hosted Pit Stop One in Port Richey, Florida at Gill Dawg. This was the first stop on the way to The Florida Keys for Trop Rock Musicians heading south for Meeting of the Minds in Key West Florida. The past two years PitStop One was cancelled in 2020 due to covid and then in 2021 due to Kenny's Heart Surgery after he had some heart issues. Kenny had been a proud member of both the Tampa Bay ParrotHead Club and the Nature Coast
ParrotHead Club. There he met and made many friends who became part of his life and were special to him.
He was extremely community oriented and got involved in all aspects of the city in which he lived. He was a member of the Comprehensive Land Use Committee for the City of Port Richey and attended all city functions as he was able to unless there were work or health issues. He insisted that if services were needed for anything, at or in his home, he used a Port Richey business first unless there were no in-city options.
He married his wife Lisa, on August 28, 2014 in Ohio. Kenny and Lisa were rarely seen apart as they lived, worked and spent their spare time together. They moved from Ohio to Florida in 2014. Kenny had no children of his own but after marriage to Lisa he gained a stepson, James and a stepdaughter, Danielle and step-granddaughter, Olivia.
Kenny is survived by his wife Lisa, step children, step granddaughter, his brother Douglas, sisters SueAnn and Deborah, brothers and sisters -n-law; Mike & Kris Hawley, Phillip and LeAnne Mock, many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous special friends.
He was preceded in death by both his parents Ronald and Nancy Burke and all of his grandparents.
Thanks to all who have reached out during this time of loss for all the messages, calls and cards. The compassion, pictures and memories of Kenny Burke are very much appreciated. His wife and family are grateful for the condolences and love shown for Kenny.
A Celebration of Kenny's Life will be held at Gill Dawg in Port Richey, Florida on September 26. Further details will be released this week.

Madelynn Marie Walsh - August 30, 2007 - August 22, 2022

Departed: 08/22/2022 (New Port Richey)
Obituary Preview: Madelynn was so excited to be here. She came five weeks early on August 30, 2007. This was the start of a challenging short life. After two weeks in the NICU she was sent home. Over the next couple of years there were multiple hospitals, surgeries and struggles but she always handled everything with a smile. A smile that infected everyone around her. She touched so many people who admired her strength and courage. She loved art and painting with a twist. She liked Girl Scouts and going to camp. Se loved animals especially hers. Madelynn always looked forward to her summers to see her mom Heather and brother Elias. She was a fish out of water as a kid and grew into a "too cool" teenager that loved anime, to draw and roll her eyes at dad. At age 10 "Cricket" came out as being in the LGBTQ community. They embraced the love and support that they received and didn't get mad if you forgot to use the right pro noun or name. They would just give you a look. As their medical struggles continued so did their determination not to let it get them down. We went to pride events that grew a smile I've never seen before. Right now thinking about those smiles hurts but in time they will become precious memories. For being on this planet for such a short time they leave a legacy of kindness with so many people, caring and love forever. In the end they are no longer suffering and finally at peace.

Christopher Robert Walther - August 11, 1992 - July 19, 2022

Departed: 07/19/2022 (New Port Richey)
Obituary Preview: Christopher Robert Walther: beloved son of Robert and Juliann Walther, brother of Patrick Mendillo and Jenifer Mendillo and uncle to Ayla, Alyssa, Kellan and Samantha was called too soon after only 29 years with us.Despite being severely autistic and not being able to speak, Chris was our gentle giant- always ready to hug and give a kiss. Without ever saying a word, he touched so many lives and was a joy to his family. He loved his man cave and watching Barney videos and the game show channel especially Family Feud and The Price is Right. We went every day to Publix and he loved riding in our van. Night-time swims were a great way to cool off and enjoy time together. He had a giggle of pure happiness that was the best sound ever. Knowing he was happy and home meant everything to us. While our hearts are broken we know he is safe and free from all the problems of this earth. He is talking and laughing and in the arms of family that have gone before him. While we would give anything to have one more minute with him, we know one day we will be with him forever.
