Linda H. Briggs - March 04, 1950 - April 21, 2024

Departed: 04/21/2024 (Rochester)
Obituary Preview: Linda H Briggs, 74, died peacefully at home, after a long battle with dementia. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pauline Hevey, she is survived by her husband of 51 years, Allen; her children, Alicia (Fred), Christopher (Winnie), and Amy; her grandchildren, Helen, Maya, Henry, and Hannah. Siblings, Karen (Billy), Bobby (Maxey), Tim (Janet) and brother-in-law Roger, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was born and raised in Biddeford, Maine. She attended college at the University of Maine, where she met her future husband on a blind date. After graduating, Linda and Allen settled in Rochester, New York where she started her teaching career. Once they began their family Linda became a stay at home mom and dedicated herself to her children. She was always the first one to volunteer for any activity that involved her kids, from room mom, to scout leader, and anything else that was needed. When her children were all in school full time, she resumed her career as a teacher, working for the dioceses of Rochester as a middle school teacher for 20 years where she made many cherished lifelong friends. Among her greatest joys was crossing paths with her former students and seeing how they had flourished.
For many years she was an active member of St. John's parish in Greece where she volunteered as a teacher for Sunday school, served both as a lector and eucharistic minister and prepared meals for the food ministry.
Along with her mother, Linda was a lifelong Red Sox fan. She inherited her card game skills from her father, who taught her the proper rules of cribbage and how to never throw a 7 in the crib. She passed the love of those games onto her whole family, including grandkids, who love a good game of scat! She was also an avid reader, crossword puzzle junkie, and cross stitch artist. Linda loved any opportunity to go on the hunt for a casino jackpot. She was always up for any traveling adventures, especially with her sister and close friends. Her fondest memories include the yearly family vacations to Maine and the Outer Banks where she loved relaxing on the beach having her family around.
Linda would love nothing more than for you to have a drink in her honor. Whenever you see a frog, think of her.
Special gratitude to RRH hospice services and their staff, Tammy, Jessica, and Jane for making our family's last days together so peaceful.

John Bailey Scott Jr. - December 01, 1931 - April 17, 2024

Departed: 04/17/2024 (Rochester)
Obituary Preview: Passed away April 17, 2024 at age 92. He is predeceased by mother Helen Pierce Scott of Martville, NY, father John B Scott Sr. of Oswego, NY, and stepmother Marie Scott. John is survived by Kathryn, his wife of almost 69 years; sons Steven (Cheryl) and Brian (Carol); grandchildren Ryan Andrew (Angel), Alyssa Christine (David); great grandchildren Elizabeth, Sean, Jack, Deaglan, and Hadley; his sisters Helen, Carole, Debbie, and brother Duane along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
John was an intelligent, thoughtful man who was loving and caring for his wife, two sons, daughter's in-law, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He always had projects that he was working on-beginning with designing and building the family home. Known for being thrifty, he did all the home improvement projects and restored several automobiles for the family's use. With his curious and engineering nature, he could build or fix anything that he put his mind to. His woodworking prowess resulted in countless projects enjoyed by many family members. He loved his entire extended family and was well known for the best hugs.
From 1962-65 he and Kathryn built a home on 3 acres of land on Atlantic Avenue in Walworth, NY. They had the shell of the house built by a builder. With Kathryn's help, John did much of the work himself to install aluminum siding, drywall, heating system, interior doors, and wood trim. John also designed, made, and installed custom kitchen & bathroom cabinets, laid linoleum, ceramic tile, and hardwood flooring, and did all the related painting and finishing. In 1967, he also built an apartment for his mother-in-law (who thought the world of him) and a three-car garage. In 1991, John started work on his dream woodworking shop-a 36'x56' 2 story gable-style structure, complete with space for his tractor and lumber storage. Many wood projects were completed there in the following years.
John was an Airforce veteran having served from 1950 to 1954. He trained in electronics and radar at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX; Keesler AF Base in Biloxi, MS; and Travis AF Base in Sacramento, CA where he served as a Technician for Radar and Counter Measures on the B-36 Peacemaker-a long range bomber which was a part of The Strategic Air Command.
John worked in various supervisory roles at Stromberg-Carlson, General Dynamics, and Cunningham Corp, and as a Manufacturing Engineer at Xerox Corp. He was involved in the development and production of Xerox copy machines before retiring in 1996.
Though not affiliated with any church, John always considered himself a Christian. He was brought up in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, which contributed to his life-long beliefs against smoking, drinking, and gambling. He was always tolerant of other viewpoints but clung closely to his own code of conduct which included loyalty, fidelity, and loving people unconditionally.

Stewart Love - January 04, 1953 - March 30, 2024

Departed: 03/30/2024 (Rochester)
Obituary Preview: We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Stewart Love of Greece on Saturday, March 30th, 2024. He is predeceased by his parents James & Elizbeth Love. He is survived by his children Levecca Love-Robinson (Thomas), Serge Love (Daniella Boerst) & Sarah Love, his partner of nearly 30 years Diane Schaber, her son Brett Schaber (Meagan), grandchildren Tori Zornes (Michael), Jordan Kushel, Kayla Love, Benjamin Love, Nicolas Love & Sophie Schaber, his sister Lesley Love(Jim Campbell), niece Kit(Mike) Brower, nephew Brian (Laura) Conolly & grandniece Brooklyn Conolly.
Stew was born on January 4th, 1953, in Glasgow, Scotland & moved to the US with his parents James & Betty that same year. He carried with him a strong pride in his Scottish heritage, going so far as to eat & claim to enjoy haggis, but not going so far as learning to play the bagpipes. From a young boy, he showed a highly creative spirit which extended throughout his life. He was known for his love for his family & friends, his sense of humor, which was quick & sharp, his giving nature & perhaps most for his deep passion for music. As a teenager, he found his lifelong talent & love for playing the guitar. He was a self-taught guitarist & singer-songwriter who was involved with multiple bands over several decades, most recently being Dust & Bone. Seeing Stew perform with his bandmates was to see the embodiment of pure joy & it was infectious. When he played the guitar, it allowed him the freedom to express his wild and emotional side. You always knew you were in for a great time whenever you had the honor to be present at a show of theirs. He loved stoking the flames of interest he found in others, and this made him a great tutor and mentor to many over the years. Thanks to him, his children grew up with the same love of music& he was always eager to share his latest discoveries.
In addition to his love of playing guitar, he received great enjoyment from spending time with his family & close friends, several of whom he has had since childhood. He & Diane took regular trips to tropical locales with their friends, and he had a standing breakfast date with his sister nearly every Saturday for more than 20 years. Stew was always a strong leader whether it was during his long career as a Quality Control specialist or as a friend offering a supportive ear to those seeking guidance. Stewart always offered a helping hand, and he gave more during his life than he ever took. He had a kind heart that you could rely on in times of need. He had a smile and a laugh that we will never forget, and he will be missed greatly by the many people who loved and adored him. Stewart’s soul will always play the lead as he rides the cosmic melodies of that sweet, sweet guitar riff.
