Obituary Preview: Alcides Melendez, [74], of Haverhill Massachusetts, passed away on April 10, 2022 after a long illness. The family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
He is survived by his four daughters Maribelle Melendez, Ivelisse Roldan, Evelyn Melendez, Giselle Melendez, his 11 grandkids and 4 great grandkids.
Alcides Melendez was born on July 10, 1947 in Vega Baja Puerto Rico. Son of the late Felix Melendez and Salome Melendez-Lopez.  Alcides Melendez grew up in Vega Baja in 1970 where he met his late wife Gloria Lopez and move to New Haven, Connecticut, where he work as a Machine operator.  Returning back to Puerto Rico but in 1992  decided  to move to Haverhill, Massachusetts to start a new lived with their four daughters.
Alcides Melendez was faithful Christian. His passion was helping others. We will always love you and miss you.

Yovanny was born in Santiago, Dominican republic the son of Hector Rafael Cid and his wife Altagracia De Jesus. Yovanny moved to Lawrence when he was 15 years old. He attended Lawrence High School. Yovanny was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Lawrence. He was employed as a landscaper/installer for Atlantic  Sports Group when he helped construct sports courts throughout the New England states for homeowners and installed and maintained  the Astroturf for the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
Yovanny enjoyed cooking, his family, riding his motorcycle and his dog, "Coco". His family recalls him as a simple man who was always happy. making jokes and the love of his family and friends.

Bartola was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence and had retired as a machine operator from Milliken Corp.

Torres, Jessenia Santiago, Waleska Santiago, and Egberto Santiago.  Otilia was a great spouse to Jose Antonio Cruz and stepmother to Lisa Cruz, Rosa Cruz and Antonio Cruz. She loved her son-in-law's Hector Guevara, and Jose Torres dearly.  Otilia Rosario was the most wonderful Grandmother to 26 grandchildren who all loved her very, very much and also recently had a great granddaughter! She was an excellent aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, a great sister to Gilberto Rosario, Olga Rosario, Narciso Rosario, and Ramonita Rosario.  Otilia had many friends who over years turned into family who loved the person that she was. She was honest, loving, and good spirited. A very giving person that no matter what she never said no to lending a hand. She was the life of the party and was always dancing, having fun with all of her family and friends. Everyone loved her personality and especially her laugh!  YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. IN OUR HEARTS YOU WILL ALWAYS REMAIN. Jackie Attended Grammar School in Puerto Rico and was a Lawrence High School Graduate. Jackie held A CDA certificate, she received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Essex Community College and received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Merrimack College. She began her career at GLCAC Headstart and then became a teacher and Director at the YMCA and recently returned to Headstart. Lastly she became Executive Director for Little Sprouts in Lawrence, MA. She enjoyed being with young children and helping in the community. Jackie was gracious enough to be a generous organ donor.
Jackie is survived by her loving mother Carmen Garay, Methuen MA. Her daughter Cornelia Caraballo Methuen MA, Son Angel Caraballo JR. of Fitchburg. Her two grandsons Lincoln & Liam. Sisters Gloria Rana, Marliyn Garay, Samantha Garay, Diana Garay. Brothers Ricardo Garay and Gary Garay. As well as her special friend Laurianne Vermette and former spouse Angel Caraballo. Jackie was predeceased by her father Ricardo Garay. She also leaves many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the community.
Arrangements will be made by Farrah Funeral Home. Friends and family are welcome to join the procession from Farrah’s Funeral Home to the burial site at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Ana R. Talavera - April 02, 1965 - March 26, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ana Talavera, age 56, loving mother of 1, a sister to 1 brother and 4 sisters, and a aunt to many nieces and nephews, passed away in the early hours of the 26th of March after a courageous battle of Alzheimer’s and other illnesses.  Ana was born in 1965 in Puerto Rico and grew up surrounded by her large family where they traveled from Puerto Rico to Chicago ending with a stay in Lawrence, MA where she was raised. Ana was influenced by her family to be a loving caring woman, always giving her time to others, and she incorporated that into her motherhood. She met her husband Carmelo Talavera in 1987 while out on adventure with her friends. If you knew Ana you know she loved her adventures. They fell in love instantly and knew they both shared a love for a family and decided to start their own. As a mother, aunt, sister and wife she was generous, loving and kind. They only had one son, Carmelo Talavera Jr. in 1989 so she embraced her nieces and nephews as her own and treated them all fairly.  She was directly honest with them but spoiled them as much as she could. Ana worked in the Health care field where she worked for LGH for many years as well as HFH and Hale Hospital. In her free time, Ana loved the outdoors so she was always bike riding, had the children by the beach or even roller skating. She believed staying active was very important to her and the children she was surrounded by. Ana moved to Tampa, Florida in the early 2000’s where she moved back in 2012. She always had a love for dolphins which is what inspired the move. She will be greatly missed by her 4 sisters, Olga Rivera, Marta Miranda, Yolanda Rivera, and Ivy Belghiti, her 1 brother of California, Octavio Rivera. She also left behind one son of Keene, NH, Carmelo Talavera JR 33. Many Nieces and nephews who adored her because she never skipped a beat with them, James Miranda, Katherine Rosa, Ramon Rosa, Jose Castillo, Darlene Castillo, Stephanie Castillo, Jose Santiago III, and many great nieces and nephews. “We know we can’t have you but we’re happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman, a great mother and a beautiful sister and Aunt.”
Ana is survived by her Son, 4 sisters, 1 brother and many nieces and nephews who also made her a great aunt. There will be a service for her for those of you who would like to say their last goodbye to Ana on the 1st of April at 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at Farrah Funeral Home on 133 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.

Angel is predeceased by his mother Norma Villafane, his father Juan Melendez, his brother Pito Diaz, and his sister Anna Diaz.
Born in Connecticut, Angel has lived within the Merrimack Valley his whole life.
Angel loved family.
Having all nine of his children and his many grandchildren around brought him joy. Angel leaves his wife of twenty-two years  Mary, and their sons James and Israel;
Son, Robert &  Daughter Angela Melendez.  Daughters Natasha & Kendra son Jon Berard; daughter Missy Nieves and son Joshua Simmons. Angel leaves one sister, Judy who he loved very much, many grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Before diabetes took Angel's ability to work, he worked for Fiesta Shows, and Griffin Catering for many years.   Over the last two years, Angel volunteered for 411 Cares Inc. Serving the Veterans, Elders, and the homeless.
Angel left an impression on all who met him and forever will be remembered by many people. Some may remember Angel playing Dice at the Hancock Projects; some may remember him fixing the Apollo ride and the zipper or cooking a sausage on the grill, but all remember Angel and think He was a hell of a guy, who went through a lot. Angel spent 17 years battling diabetes and chronic kidney disease; for the past 7 years, Angel lived wheelchair-bound due to the loss of limbs.   Angel is a legend.   Not only in our memories;    he has lived 17 years on mechanical dialysis, and the average is five.  A fighter for sure!

Sam was born at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen and graduated from Lawrence High School.   He was the son of the late Salim Erban and his wife, Margaret (Farah) Erban. Sam enjoyed his music, rock and roll and times at the beach. Sam was a parishioner of St. Joseph Greek Melkite Catholic Church in Lawrence. Sam leaves behind his uncle Mike Farah and many cousins and dear friends. Sam Will be missed by all.  May he rest in peace.

In 1966  Maria got married to the love of her life Eutimio, the couple shared fifty-six wonderful years of marriage .she loved her home and enjoyed preparing food for her family and many holidays they celebrated together .Maria was predeceased by her sister Ana Maria Silva of Methuen. In addition to her husband Eutimio ,she is survive by her 3 children Rui Lima,of Lawrence,  Diane Dussault and her husband William Dussault of Manchester NH. and Kelly Delima and her husband Eugenio Delima of Lawrence .and as well of 10 of her grandchildren 2 great grandauhters Shaun Lima, Jetta Lima, Julia Lima ,Janaya Dasilva, Junior Dasilva, Natisha Dasilva ,Gabriel Lima, Veronica Delima, Britney Delima, Carlos Delima. Ramon born January 10,1937 and was educated and raised in Nagua, Dominican Republic, the son of the late Gregoria de Luna and Julio Nolasco. While living in the Dominican Republic he worked in transportation and construction  He moved to Lawrence in 1979 to join his family. He traveled many times to his native homeland to visit family and friends. Ramon enjoyed Dominican and Mexican music and mostly he loved his family.
Ramon leaves behind his wife, Luz Nolasco,  four daughters: Iris, Jocelyn, Antonia and Eunice. Also leaving behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our grandfather was truly loved and will be missed by many.  Family and friends may call from 9:00AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, February 16,2022 at the Farrah Funeral Home 133 Lawrence St. Lawrence, MA 01841. Like family called her Tata or Mame, Teresa was a loving sister, grandmother, daughter, great grandmother, aunt etc. Teresa loves playing bingo with her family, always helping her family when they needed help, She will always be missed and left a big hole in our hearts.
Even though she resides in Lawrence Mass, she was born in Villalba Puerto Rico on April 22 1948, and a few years ago decided to move to Lawrence to be closer to the family. Since Teresa was young has always been catholic, always had a high spirit making people and family laugh and Loved to cook.
She left behind her children, Rosa Suarez, Aracelis Torres, Edith Torres, Lydia Torres, Glorivee Torres, Carlos Torres, Juan Torres, and Eddie Torres, her sister Rosa Roman, Carmen Roman. Along with grandkids, Jonaida Torres, Glendaly Torres, Glorymar Rodriguez, Crystal M Diaz, Eddie Torres, Luis M. Torres, Carmen L Zayas. Amarilys Zayas, Alexander Sanchez, Joan Sanchez, Francisco J Zayas, Jose L. Echevarria, Erick J. Rosario. Great Grand kids, Jorelys Rosario, Juliette Rosario, Javier C. Jeanne was looking forward to meeting her 7th great grandchild in March. She also leaves behind 3 brothers, George, William, and Richard and 3 sisters, Cathy, Susan, and Judy. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the beach, and never missing church on Sunday’s. Jeanne loved working for many years as a CNA because she loved helping others. She was kind and generous to all that met her and crossed paths with her. She will be missed dearly by all family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Alfredo Torres of Lawrence Massachusetts passed on February 3rd, 2022. Alfredo battled renal failure for the majority of his life. Alfredo was survived by his wife Cidalia Luis-Torres, his daughter Yasmine Torres and his son Joey Soares. Alfredo’s hobbies included fishing, playing and watching sports, writing poetry, and listening to music. Alfredo was very prideful of his hometown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Alfredo often enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles with his wife and kids, he would set alarms to make sure he was ready and didn't miss the games. He loved bonding with his son Joey over newly released video games.  Alfredo’s favorite memories were being in a house full of family, laughing, joking, dancing, and eating. Alfredo enjoyed spoiling his children, and often sacrificed whatever he could to do so. Alfredo was a member of the Granite United Church, he volunteered a lot of his time to his church and would participate in many events.
Alfredo was very supportive of his loved ones and their accomplishments. He sat through all of his daughter Yasmine’s dance recitals, coached her softball team and stood by his wife while she attended medical school.  Alfredo will be remembered for the way he loved cracking jokes to light up the room with smiles and laughter, his love for traveling, visiting family, the ocean, the mountains, camping, and his love for family game nights. Alfredo is now reunited with his late mother Evelyn Torres and his other loved ones who have passed.

Pablo has also joined his brother Sylvio Borges of Buffalo, NY who recently passed. Pablo was a warm-hearted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He loved his family and close friends unconditionally and would spend moments with them every chance he had. Pablo's children and grandchildren were his heart and soul, distance never stopped him from loving them. He had a passion for birds and enjoyed whistling songs with them. Pablo was the one to always tell jokes and make you laugh he loved to see everyone smiling. Pablo is survived by his children Maria Borges and her partner Almando  of Lawrence, MA and his son Tomas Peleaz of Haverhill,MA. Children Odalys Borges, Berkis Borges and Isabel Borges and all of his loving family from Cuba. His grandchildren Mathew, Pablo, Odalys, Nakaya, Damaris, Talya, Yasmin, Gabriela, Jose, Tiana, Noviani, and Jayda. Great Grandchildren Julian and Freyja. Pablo will be sadly missed my his dog Rocky. Candido, muy conocido como Agustin, El Jumbo, o Caño Hondo, nació el día 1 de Abril del año 1943, en el campo de Blanco al Medio, Tenares, República Dominicana. Fue un gran emprendedor y empresario en ganadería, agricultura y bienes raíces. Pero más que emprendedor, fue un super humano, al ser el mejor padre, esposo, abuelo, hijo, hermano, y gran amigo. A los 22 años de edad se unió a su amada esposa Tomaisna Padilla donde empezó a realizar sus sueños más grandes. Produjeron una bella familia de tres hijos y cuatro hijas. Su batalla empezó desde muy temprano, donde falleció una de sus niñitas al tener 7 años de edad. Su enfoque principal siempre fue cuidar de su familia y sacarlo adelante. Trabajo muy fuerte en la agricultura vendiendo granadillos y frutas en la ciudad. Al igual que criando y vendiendo ganados. Siempre mantuvo la importancia de ser una persona honrada y de respeto. El cual dejó esa enseñanza marcada en su familia. Fue muy amado por los demás al ser tan humilde y servicial. Siempre compartió lo mucho y lo poco que tuvo. Se esforzó por que los demás crecieran igual que él. Y dejó el legado de que nada es imposible. Como pasatiempo, le encantaba compartir con su familia, ayudar a los demás, hacerle fiestas navideñas a las personas de su campo, y jugar dominó. Y por supuesto le encantaba comer chicharrones y darle comida a los demás. Al transcurso de su vida disfrutó de muchos placeres pero siempre aseguró que su familia estuviera bien. Cuido de sus padres, hermanos, esposa, hijos, nietos, amistades sin condición.  A través de su vida luchó como un gran guerrero los obstáculos que le presentó la vida y su salud. Dio lo último y lo mejor de él al 100% hasta su último respiro. Hoy repetimos su frase favorita, “ Dios Bendiga al Señor Padilla”. Y que su alma tenga paz eterna y que junto a dios continúe su misión. Hoy le damos gracias por dejarnos esas enseñas nobles y dignas. Gracias por ser el mejor padre, esposo, hijo, abuelo, hermano y amigo. Continuaremos su sueños más añorados de ser una familia unida, honrada, y expandir su amor. Que Dios te dé vida eterna y paz nuestro. Hasta que nos veamos la próxima vez Papa, te amamos para siempre, Candido Padilla.

If you ever had his stuffed cabbage you'd understand. Dicky really was just the life of the party, and he will be missed but never forgotten. Dicky you will be forever in our hearts and our memories. He is survived by his son Richard P. Jacobson of Lawrence and three daughters Desiree Jacobson and Lynda Godin of Lawrence, and JoAnn Jones of Florida. He is also survived by his longtime loving girlfriend Carol Scuito of Lawrence. She was born on October 24, 1945 in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States in 1981 to provide a better life for her family.  An active member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Rafaela will be remembered as a devout Catholic and member of the parish group Cofradía del Sagrado Corazón.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Luis Santos, their six living children, Beato Santos, Primitivo Santos, Francisca Polanco, Alejandro Santos, Ysidro Santos, and Sonia Santos, and many grandchildren. Rafaela is preceded in death by her daughter Angela Ovalles. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her for her warmth, loving nature, and generous spirit.
The wake will be held on Wednesday, January 12 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Farrah Funeral Home, 133 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.  The funeral procession will be on Thursday, January 13 at Bellevue Cemetery after a mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish at 10:00am.
