Kevin met many of his life long friends at an early age and if you knew Kevin, you were definitely a lucky one. Never to meet a stranger or say “NO” to anyone you could find Kevin passing out coats and blankets to the Homeless during the holidays that frequented his daily stops.  He always said, you can tell when someone is truly down on their luck. Kevin’s love of Horse Racing started at a young age, he and his Dad were often seen at Turf Paradise, or Max’s on 43rd and Glendale. Kevin and Kathi traveled to many tracks throughout the country, his favorite was Del Mar where he’d meet up with his childhood friend Charlie Bryan. Kevin met Kathi in 1996 and knew instantly they’d be forever soulmates…within 3 months they purchased their first home together and Kevin remodeled it from top to bottom. This started his love of remodeling and flipping houses, which he and Kathi did together up until his cancer diagnosis in August of this year. Kevin started his career as a painter for Rogers Painting, working under his mentor Harold Brown. Many of Kevin’s clients became his friends, he was always a man of his word…if he said he would do something for you, it was done! On Tuesday September 21,2021 Kevin took his last breath, with Kathi at his side for his final 30 hours. His dream was to see one more Cardinals game, that he did on Sunday September 19, their “WIN” was for Kevin! He is survived by Kathi his wife, partner and soulmate of 26 years, his son Mason (Lori) Rush and 4 grandchildren. Many Dear friends are feeling a huge loss. He was preceded by his Parents and sister Linda Cook Brink.

Adam Bruce Leggat - March 10, 1975 - September 10, 2020

Departed: 09/10/2020 (Phoenix)
Obituary Preview: Adam Bruce Leggat, 45, passed away at his home on September 10th, 2020.  Adam was born in Redford Michigan on March 10th, 1975 to Donald Bruce Leggat and Barbara Lynn Morningstar.  Adam lived in Phoenix Arizona where he became involved with a men’s barbershop chorus, the Phoenicians, a gold winning chorus of 80-100 men.  Adam was asked to sing the notes that none of the other men wanted to sing or were too embarrassed to acknowledge, so Adam was moved into the baritone section.  Adam traveled around the country with the Phoenicians and then decided to enroll at RSI, a refrigeration and heating trade school.  Adam worked for a short while at 24 Hour Refrigeration before being drawn into work that came very naturally to Adam, security.  Adam was passionate about helping people from all walks of life and the idea of serving and protecting was second nature to him.  Adam always dreamed of taking the next step in his dream of protecting others but his lifelong battle with epilepsy remained a barrier that led to his early passing.  At the time of his passing, Adam was working as a debt collector for the Bank of America.  Adams coworkers describe him as quiet and friendly but to those privileged enough to call him a friend or family member, Adam was fiercely loyal with a huge heart that he wore on his sleeve.  Adam was an amazing friend who did not let distance become a factor in his care and concern for others.  Adam was a fantastic brother who did not get to meet his new sister-in-law or niece but loved them unconditionally nonetheless.  Adam was a doting and loving uncle who always made time for his nephew, Kyle Leggat, and proudly displayed pictures of him anywhere he called home.  Finally, Adam was a loving and concerned son to his mother and father.  Adams relationship to his mother went beyond mother-son, to best friend and confidant.  Adam and his mother relied on each other and supported each other when Matt left for the Army.  The bond between them was unbreakable and was not affected by distance.  Adams relationship with his father provided him the fortitude and ability to try new things and take chances.  Adams father supported and encouraged Adam’s efforts to become certified in heating and cooling and then onto security.  Adams stepmother, Mary Leggat, stepped into the emotional void that was left when Barbara died and Mary continued to look after and support Adam with advice and guidance when Adam needed it most.
Adam was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Lynn Morningstar who passed away in 2013 in Florida.  Adam is survived by his older brother, Matthew Todd Leggat, (Jamie) and his nephew, Kyle and step niece Kalynn and step brother Kenan Laprath, and his father, Donald Bruce Leggat, (Mary).  No memorial is planned due to the pandemic.
Adams first love was Torch Lake Michigan.  Adams ashes will be returned to the area he loved so much and will be scattered on a path that was known to he and his brother.  A memorial plaque is hoped to be placed near his grandparents, (Clare and Sylvia Morningstar) in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Canton Michigan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often published in a newspaper, online, or in a funeral program to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the passing. They help to notify others of the funeral arrangements, allow people to pay their respects, and provide a sense of closure.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. Funeral homes may also offer assistance in writing and publishing the obituary. In some cases, a professional writer may be hired to craft the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include funeral service details and any charitable organizations where donations can be made in lieu of flowers.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and the family's preferences. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from a few sentences to a few paragraphs.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a nice way to personalize the tribute and make it more meaningful.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies widely depending on the publication, word count, and other factors. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars for a traditional newspaper obituary.

What's the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, often including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. An obituary provides more detailed information about the person's life and legacy.

How do I decide what information to include in an obiturary?

Talk with family members and friends to gather memories and stories about the person being remembered. Consider what aspects of their life were most important to them and highlight those in the obiturary.

Can I use an obiturary as a way to raise money for charity?
