Obituary Preview: Bascom C. Metcalf   “B.C.” Metcalf age 95 of Dothan passed away late Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  Services for “B.C.” will be held Monday, April 18th 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Pastor Taylor Rutland officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior.  Burial will be in the Cotton Hill Family Cemetery in Dale County where military honors will be presented.   “B.C.” was born March 17, 1927 to Charlie C. Metcalf and Maude Evelyn Smith Metcalf. He was a Wiregrass native having lived in Wicksburg and Dothan areas all of his life.  He attended Slocomb High School and upon an early graduation volunteered and served  in the Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class.  “B.C.” was the first of his family to attend college where he earned his Bachelors Degree from the University  of Alabama and worked as an Industrial Engineer/Mechanical Contractor.  He founded Air Conditioning Associates, Inc in the 1950’s.   “B.C.” And his wife Myra joined First Baptist Church in 1957 where he served as a Deacon and attended faithfully until his health declined.   “B.C.” enjoyed watching Alabama Football.  He enjoyed going out to the family farm in Slocomb and driving his tractor and tending to the pecan orchard as well as fishing.  He and Myra were always in attendance of the grandchildren’s ball games.  “B.C.”  loved the Lord and his family.
“B.C.” is preceded in death by his parents Charlie C. Metcalf and Maude Evelyn Smith Metcalf; daughter in law Jan Metcalf; sisters Elizabeth M. Raines, Barbara M. Harden.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Myra Cameron Metcalf, sons Cameron A. Metcalf (Beth), Jeffrey M. Metcalf; daughter Dena Metcalf Malugen (Joe); eight grandchildren Anna M. Stinchcum (David), Abby M. Sheff (Sean), Audrey M. Meuleman (Shannon), Connor D. Metcalf, Jeslyn M. Nicodemus (Luke), Jared M. Metcalf, Charles T. Malugen, Jackson H. Malugen; and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Connor A. Metcalf, Jared M. Metcalf, Charles T. Malugen, Jackson H.  Malugen and Clifton Smith.
The family will receive flowers or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Dothan.
Special thank you to Community Hospice of Dale Medical and to sitters LaRosa Swain, Rosa Wheeler, Cassandra White, Irene Wright, and Deloris Harris who provided excellent care.

Barry Stewart Smith age 65 of Dothan passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 following an extended illness.  Services will be held Tuesday, April 5th 1 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with visitation beginning one hour prior.  The family will be gathered at Ralph and Fran’s house.
Barry was employed with Colonial Bakery for 20 years. He spent his life chasing his passions such as fishing, relic hunting, finding treasure everywhere.  He raised and shared award-winning orchids.  He loved exotic plants and anything he could use to be creative.  He lived life large and in his own way.  He loved everyone he ever met.
Barry was preceded in death by his mother and father Ralph and Fran Smith. He is survived by his loving brother, Kyle Smith; nephew Jordan Smith; sister-in-law Spring Woodruff and her sons Josh Woodruff and Christian (Samantha) Townsend; Uncle John Doyle (Sara) Woodham; Aunt Francis Woodham; many cousins and close friends.
Pallbearers will be Steve Fowler, Eric Fuller, David Day, Eddie Woodham, Jim Woodham, Michael Fitzgerald.  Honorary pallbearers Don Hatcher, Fred Johnson, Mace Kirkland.
Barry will be missed by his many friends and family and especially by his brother Kyle.
Barry would say, “If you don’t see me again in this world, you will see me in the next”.

Claude Ray Williams - April 25, 1962 - March 26, 2022

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Dothan City Center at 11:00 AM.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM at the Dothan City Civic Center.
Claude Ray Williams was born on April 25, 1962, at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York to the late Claude Williams and Betty Woods-Williams.  Claude graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and attended two semesters at Kingsborough Community College before enlisting in the United States Army.  He served in the Armed Forces for a period of 9 years as part of the 101st Airborne Division and the 3rd Infantry Division.  While in the Army he completed tours in Germany, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Fort Bliss, Texas; jungle training in the Panama Canal Zone, and a 7 month tour in the Persian Gulf.  He retired with an Honorable discharge as a Persian Gulf War Veteran having earning the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal and Army Achievement Medal among other service awards.
Upon his retirement  from the military, he continued his Higher Education graduating with a Criminal Justice Degree from Troy University at Dothan. He moved to West Palm Beach Florida and worked as a Child Protective Investigator for the Florida Department of Children and Family Services. While in West Palm Beach he also enjoyed coaching Female Basketball at Palm Beach Gardens High School and various youth basketball teams. He enjoyed being a positive remodel to youths in his basketball programs and retained contact with many of them until their adulthood.
Upon his return to Dothan, Claude enjoyed traveling, fishing adventures to which he introduced his family and friends to as well and riding his motorcycle. He loved and valued his family. He also cherished his friends and included them into the family circle.  He enjoyed cooking for everyone and would tell everyone not to give away his recipes. He was also a diehard fan of the Florida Gators and the New York Giants.
Claude leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Crystal Williams, sister Karen Williams and brother Claudio Williams; ten children: Courteney Williams, Andre Williams, Cameron Williams, Dominique Moore, Emon Moore, Emoni Moore, Rafael Bigham, David Peterman, Jeffrey Bigham, Navina Bigham; 3 granddaughters: Sydney Williams-Joseph with whom he had a special bond since birth, Ta-Niyah Peterman, Aubrey McKnight, Sinclair Moore; 5 grandsons: Dylan Moore, Channing Bigham, Kaiden Bigham, Braylon Bigham, Tylan Peterman;1 great granddaughter: Avery Grace Peterman; Aunts: Essie (Frank) Lampkin,  Jeannette (Dennis) Ellis, Arlene Woods, Diane Thorne, Ethel (Michael) Williams; Uncles: Lathan and Joseph Woods; Great Aunts: Bernolia Roberts, Othalene Pines; 7 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law and a host of other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Mr. Michael Davis was born in the grand state of Oregon to William H. Davis and Edith Davis on August 28th of 1942.  Mr. Davis later relocated and met the love of his life Marilyn (Varnum) Davis.  These two became one through marriage and remained married 57 years until his transition to heaven.  From this union was born one son; Michael E. Davis.
Mr. Davis was a lover of Alabama Football.  He worked at Farley Nuclear Plant as Quality Control Inspector and with DSI as Security.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by both his mother and father.
Mr. Davis leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 57 years Mrs. Marilyn  Davis, one son; Michael E. Davis, Two sisters Leilani Alford and Dinah Chu (both of Texas) and his beloved grandson Alexander S. Davis.  Mr. Michael Davis will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Billy Joe Wright, 58, passed away early Monday morning, March 14, 2022, at his home in Daleville. Billy has been a resident in the Wiregrass most of his life. He was born on July 10, 1963, to Lillian (Peoples) Wright and Walter Wright. He attended high school in Daleville, Alabama. He loved Alabama football, Nascar, singing karaoke, throwing darts, and being outdoors. Billy was a proud American who supported the military. His favorite thing to do included spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Lillian & Walter Wright, beloved brother Ricky Wright, and sister Theresa (John) Nichols. Survivors include daughter Hali (Chris) Mason, son Brandon (Kristen) Wright, his three grandchildren Jace Mason, Gannon Mason, and Breeli Kate Mason, sister Dianne Barody, brother Wally Wright, brother Danny Wright (Dawn Knight), sister Louise (Dave) Hargis, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He will be missed dearly.
The family will receive friends and family Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm for a memorial/visitation at Family First Funeral Care. There will be no other service to follow. Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home.

Cheryl like to travel and move around living in Colorado, Tennessee and finally back to the Wiregrass when she settled in Enterprise, AL.
Preceding her in death her parents, Paul David and Willie Clide Morris. The father of her children; Ronald Irish, Sr. Her oldest daughter Rhonda Colleen Irish. Siblings; Barbara Salverson, William David Morris, James Lamar Morris and Peter Ray Morris. She is survived by her children: daughter, Franki Lynn Irish (Lousiana), and son, Ronald Irish Jr, (Colorado).  Siblings; Judy Cochran (Geneva), Sharlene Andrade (Mobile), Timothy Morris (Gainsville), Kenneth Morris (Geneva), Siters-in-law; Debbie Morris (Geneva), Viki Morris (Chancellor),1 aunt; Merle Phillips and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  The family thanks the SICU of Flowers Hospital especially John, Georgia, and Logan for caring for our Mom, Sister, Niece, Aunt, and Friend

Sherri Williams was born to Billy Joseph Williams and Willie Pearl (Roney) Williams on February 16, 1960. She was a graduate of Ashford Academy high school in 1975.  She went on to attend Alabama University and Auburn University before graduating with a dual major in psychology and social work from Troy University in 1983.  Sherri had a heart for people as she worked most of her career under her social work degree while serving her community via her gift, be it through hospice care, or her last job before she fell ill, Saliba Family Service Center. Sherri was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church where she also loved to serve and help others.
Sherri was preceded in death by her father Billy Joseph Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving mother; Willie Pearl Williams, her son; Adam Knox and his father Ken Knox, Her sisters; Denise (John) Cameron, and Valarie Savage (Ed Sullivan), Nieces; Kasey Savage, Carmen Tavares, Nephews; Cody Cameron (Kinley), Clay Cameron (Jen). Curtiss is survived by his brothers, Sonny Starling of Ashford, Johnny Starling of Ashford, and Jimmy Starling of Phenix City and a sister Brenda (Wayne) Bloodworth of Columbus, Georgia. Also survived by Aunt Syble (David) Harper of Ashford and Aunt Dorothy Ryals of Ashford. Curtiss is survived by seven nieces and nephews and two great nieces and nephews; close family friend Kathy Pittman.  Pallbearers will be: Johnny Starling, Sonny Starling, Wayne Bloodworth, Ricky Moore, Sam Emerson, Jimmy Phillips. The Starling family would like to extend a special thank you to Encompass Hospice for their relentless and genuine care.

On July 26, 1990 in Dothan, AL a miracle from heaven was born to Brenda Streeter and Scott McKissic.  He was definitely a miracle from God above.  Weighing only 1 pound and 4oz.
Rashad was a 2008 graduate of Dothan High School.  After high school he attended Wallace Community College and the University of North Alabama. Rashad (affectionately known as “Booga Mane” to his family and friends), was a young man with a big heart and a smile that would light up a room.  More importantly, he was a young man who loved and adored his family, especially his three children, Jaiden (Jai), Tiffiany (Tink), and Masen (Coco Melon). More often than not, you wouldn’t see him without his precious children.
Rashad was a young man of many talents.  He was smart, intelligent, and lived his short life on this earth on his own accord. He was flamboyant with his style of  dress and if you knew him, you could not help but love him.
Preceding him in death: his grandfather; Master Sgt. Chester Streeter, his loving aunt; Mary Hollis, a loving stepfather; Marcus Henry, and a loving sister; Charlotte Henry.
Continuing to celebrate his life he leaves to cherish his memories, his loving children, Jaiden Streeter, Tiffiany Streeter, and Masen Streeter.  His loving mother; Brenda Streeter-Henry (Robert), a loving father; Scott (Keisha) McKissic, Fiancee mother of Masen Samantha Davis, brothers; LaKendric Streeter, Scott Holmes, Brannon McKissic, Braxton McKissic, James Boatwright, Marcus Henry, Jr., and Markeevis Henry.  Sisters; Bria McKissic, Alexis Martin, and Brittney (Mike) Bennett.  A beloved grandmother, Tressie Streeter and grandparents; Rev. As a member of Shady Grove CWC, Darlene once served as the Women’s Ministry Leader and the church secretary.
In the community, Darlene was very passionate about advocating for the acceptance and inclusion of all special needs children, inspired by her son, Joey.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband especially on cruises, but her favorite thing to do was spending quality time with her sons. She really enjoyed cheering Joey on at the Miracle League baseball games and Joey always looked for her to make sure she was watching. She also enjoyed being escorted to the movies by Jeffrey on Mother’s Day or any other day he could slip away. Most recently they were joined by Jeffrey’s wife, Heather. She loved spending time with both of them and loved the idea of having someone she could call Daughter.
She will be missed by all.

Frank Kennedy age 81 of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at his home.  A graveside service will be held, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Cottonwood City Cemetery at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stanley Key officiating.
Frank was born November 6, 1940 to Roy Lee Kennedy and Enola Cloe Wright Kennedy in Monticello, Arkansas.  Frank has lived the last 20 years in Dothan where he enjoyed going to Center Stage.  He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to fish, hunt and spend time in his peach orchard.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers Andy Kennedy and Roy Lee Kennedy; 3 sisters Nita Keen, Jerri McGriff, Dovie Roberts.
He is survived by his sons Curtis Kennedy, Phil Kennedy and a special grandson Andrew Kennedy; daughter Angela Collins; sister Tammy Kennedy Wehmeier; grandchildren Catlin Kennedy, Joseph Franklin Collins, Jamie Bordlee, Crystal Danos, Joshua Davis Collins.

Obituary Preview: If there was a piece of advice that Mr. M.C. Willis could give, he would say, “Don’t worry about nothing!” M.C. Willis was a living testament of living a stressfree, worry-free life. He was a sporty, classic gentleman who believed that first impressions were the best impressions. There will never be another M.C Willis. M.C. Willis, the son of the late Mr. Mallie Willis and Mrs. Willie Mae Willis (mother); Faire Willis (stepmother), was born March 1, 1932. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church when located in the Dothan area formerly known as Southside. He was actively attending and serving at New Bethel until his death. He was preceded in death by his daughter Catherine Willis Turner; sister, Madule Johnson; brothers, Johnny C. Willis, and Willie Frank Brown. M.C. Willis served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer until he was honorably discharged in 1956. He later became a truck driver in Dothan, AL. From 1967 until his retirement in 1995, he transformed his place of work in environmental services into a place of enjoyment as he walked the halls of Southeast Alabama Medical Center with his shiny shoes, starch-ironed attire, and a smile. After retirement, M.C. Willis continued to show off his work ethic and debonair spirit as an employee at The Dollar General. He loved reading his devotionals, attended church faithfully, and believed in being prepared and ontime. M.C. will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife, Charlene Willis, Dothan, AL; sons, Reginald (Kimberly) Hinson, West Palm Beach, FL, Michael Willis, Dothan, AL, John Kite, Dothan, AL, Samuel (Olympia) Oliver, Eufaula, AL; daughters, Michelle (Kelvin) Anderson, Gordan, AL, Cassandra Haspiel, Ozark, AL, Mary Kite, Dothan, AL, Victoria Oliver, Dothan, AL; devoted sister: Ann Williams, Belle Glade, FL; special nephew: K.J. Obituary Preview: Michael Lee Bowman was born May 10, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Robert and Helen Bowman.
Mike grew up and spent his early adulthood in Beaufort, SC where he earned his Master Mechanic Certification. He was well known, highly praised and lauded as a mechanic of brilliance.
He married Vicki Cockayne in 1978 and to that marriage a child, Christopher Bowman, was born. That marriage ended in divorce and later he remarried Cheryl Ashley, they had a son, Kyle Tyler Bowman. After that marriage ended he relocated and finally settled in Dothan, AL where he became a member of the Church of Christ in 2006.
Mike really loved the fact that he had gotten to know God and his church family. He attended regularly unitl his health failed. Mike was truly grateful of the relationships he had with his brethren in Christ because he had no family local.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Susan Barton.
He will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories, sons Christopher and Kyle, grand-daughter Jaylynn, his minister Christopher Saulsberry, special friends David Jacobo, William Porter, Jr., and a dedicated care giver Page.
