Obituary Preview: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Robert Bojrab, on May 2, 2024 in Avilla Indiana at the age of 82 following a prolonged illness, surrounded by his family who loved him.

Born on April 25, 1942, Peter was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana. After graduating from Northside High School in 1960, he joined his family business (where he had worked during the summers since he was a teen), D.G. Bojrab & Sons Well Drilling, established in 1901as a third-generation well-driller. During his career the business grew to become one of the premier well drilling operations in the state, providing services not only to residential customers, but also farms, schools, golf courses, large businesses, and communities.

His greatest joy in life was his family, his wife Karen A. Bojrab, sons Scott Bojrab and Christopher Bojrab, daughter-in-law Lisa Bojrab, grandchildren Jonathan Bojrab, Devin Bojrab, Lauren Bojrab (Tommy Adams), and Landon Egly, and his brother, Louis Bojrab (Joetta).

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mable Bojrab, and his brother Steven Bojrab (Debbie).

Service is 12:00 pm, Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Rd., with calling two hours prior beginning at 10:00 am.

He was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Indiana Hoosiers. Tim's love for sports was surpassed by his love for his family, whom he showered with affection, humor, and unwavering support.

Tim's kindness, generosity, and compassionate spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He had a selfless heart, always putting the needs of others before his own. Tim made people feel welcomed and cherished, whether through his captivating comedy, genuine conversations, or acts of kindness.

A devout believer, Tim found solace and strength in his faith. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, whose love and teachings guided his actions. Tim's deep faith was not only a source of comfort for him but also a guiding light that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a living example of Christ's love, grace, and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew him.

Obituary Preview: Michael Thomas Farina passed away April 24, 2024 in the care of Parkview Randallia Hospice Care. He was a resident of Saint Anne’s home. He was born December 21, 1938 in Detroit, MI, the oldest son of Tom Farina and Frances Scorza. They moved to New Haven, IN when he was four, where he spent the rest of his life. He grew up a member of Saint John’s Catholic Church in New Haven and graduated from New Haven High school. After which he joined the Navy, which he loved and was able to travel the world. He retired from the Navy with more than twenty years of service. In his spare time he participated in Civil War Reenactment, Antique car clubs and was a collector and dealer of antique firearms. He loved classical music and sitting on his porch feeding and watching the birds. He loved everyone and never knew a stranger.

He is survived by two daughters, Karissa (Casey) Kalb of Fort Wayne, IN and Melissa Farina of Toledo, OH. His ex-wives, Sharon Farina of Fort Wayne and Lois Guthier of Hicksville, OH and his longtime friend Kimberly Baker of Fort Wayne, IN who made it possible for him to live independently in his own home for so long.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Tom and Fran Farina and one brother Bill Farina.

A Funeral Mass for Michael will take place on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at 11:00 am with calling 1 hour prior at St John The Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St. New Haven.

Obituary Preview: Richard Alfred Boyer is known as Chaplain, Pastor, husband, father, and Grandpa. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, on August 16, 1936, where his father, the Rev. Herman Boyer, was director of the Lutheran Orphanage. In 1944, his father accepted a call to pastor Grace Lutheran Church in Omro, WI. Richard spent the summers in Omro baling hay, working in a cheese factory, and building stone fireplaces for a construction company.

Following confirmation and 8th grade, he entered Concordia Milwaukee Prep School for a six-year program combining high school and college. This school prepared students for seminary training in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The educational concentration was on languages, including German, Latin, Greek and Hebrew. At prep school he worked to help pay his tuition doing jobs such as dishwashing, setting pins at a bowling alley (when this was still done by hand), and working as a mail carrier.

After graduation in 1956, he entered Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, his father’s alma mater. Richard’s seminary training emphasized both academic and practical aspects of theology, often utilizing his comprehensive education in languages.

His vicarage was in Ft Wayne, IN. At this congregation, he discovered a group of Sunday School teachers who were eager to learn. He began a weekly class helping them more deeply grasp the lessons they would be teaching. This emphasis on teaching would become his lifelong calling. He was also busy visiting homes - essentially, evangelism calls - which gave him an increasing appetite to learn to preach better (bringing truth to the heart). Of course, while on vicarage he met the love of his life, Delores Lepper, on a blind date, arranged by his barber, the father of one of Delores’s friends.

He married Delores on June 17, 1961, following his graduation from the seminary. Their first call was to an African-American congregation in Muskogee, OK. Steve, the first of five sons, was born there in 1962.

Richard entered the Navy Reserves during the last year of seminary. He was called to active duty in 1962. He attended the US Naval Chaplaincy School in Newport, RI. Upon completion he served as a chaplain at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA.

Follow-on assignments included chaplain of Naval Construction Battalion # 11 at Port Hueneme, CA; Naval Training Center in San Diego; Sr. Chaplain at Naval Air Station in Adak, Alaska; chaplain to the First Marine Division in Vietnam; Naval Air Station Chaplain in Jacksonville, FL. In Groton, CT he served with the Submarine Force, training lay leaders to be spiritual leaders out on deployment, along with discipling couples and singles stateside. After graduate school in RI he was sent to the 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa. His next position was senior chaplain at Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD, where there was seemingly a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit resulting in fruitful ministry. His next assignment was with the 2nd Marine Division in Camp Lejeune, NC. Having completed tours with all three Marine Divisions, he was then asked to head up the chapel ministry at the Marine Naval Air Station in Yuma, Az. Through all the Navy locations and moves, four more sons were added to the family: Joel (1963), Brent (1966), Brad (1968), and Barth (1970). If he didn’t have enough challenges at work, he came home to sons to wrangle!

During his military service in Vietnam, he faced the challenge of serving Marines dispersed over a large area. He traveled a circuit on foot or jeep to all the remote outposts - sometimes through combat fire. Additionally, during the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beruit in 1983, as the 2nd Marine Division Deputy Chaplain, it was his responsibility to dispatch notification teams to affected family members as well as host daily press conference updates.

After his retirement from the Navy in 1986, he and Delores settled in Derby, KS, ministering at Faith Lutheran Church for the next 15 years. He retired a second time in 2001 but was soon recalled to “active ministry” serving as a vacancy pastor in Larned, KS, and then at Cheney, KS. His final retirement began when those ended, allowing him the opportunity to REALLY settle into his chair on the back porch with a view enjoying the sunsets.

Richard’s ministry increasingly focused on discipleship. Some of this he picked up from his father, some from other chaplains and much from the Navigators parachurch ministry. Such discipling included an emphasis on personal faith, memorization, and Christian fellowship. He was able to combine these emphases in the biblical Lutheran framework of Christ Alone, Scripture Alone and Faith Alone in a comprehensive four-year adult Bible study. He led numerous people through this customized training giving them a solid Biblical framework. His focus on a vibrant faith was also evident in the confirmation instruction he provided. This included memorization and study to instill a lifelong knowledge and love for Christ and the message of salvation. He was especially gratified that seven men whom he discipled were moved by the Holy Spirit to attend seminary. Several are participating in the funeral and memorial service for their chaplain/pastor.

Richard entered eternity to be with the Lord Jesus on April 17, 2024, in Bel Aire, KS. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores, of Bel Aire, KS; sons Steve (Rachel) of Atoka, TN, Joel of Palmyra, VA, Brent (Lily) of Miami, FL, Brad (Chie) of Lawton, OK, and Barth (Melanie) of Bel Air, MD; brother Dan of La Quinta, CA; eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Hal enjoyed sharing the newest funny internet memes, watching and playing sports, and throwing footballs in the backyard with his nephews. He loved to go on walks, do target practice with his brothers and dad, and was happy talking about anything and everything during car rides!

After attending school in the Leo area, Hal received his high school diploma from the Excel Center in Indianapolis in 2017. He had worked at a variety of jobs since his graduation, mostly in landscaping. He was a member of Taylor Chapel Ministries in Fort Wayne.

Hal will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his guardian parents, Gordon and Nancy Lewis of Leo; two brothers, Robert (Angela) Warstler of Kendallville and Marcus Jennings Lewis of Muncie; a sister, Mary Jennings of Fort Wayne; guardian siblings Kara (Dave) Snoke of Cary, NC; Collin (Brittany) Lewis of Fort Wayne; Evan (Amanda) Lewis of Apex, NC; Aaron Lewis of Wilmore, KY; guardian grandmothers, Millie Nicodemus and Marie Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Mary Ann Warstler, who lovingly cared for him and his siblings in their early years.

Son of Anna (Shupp) and Arthur John Rodewald, Ken was born April 16, 1934, in Ft. Wayne, IN. He will be always remembered by the love of his life, his wife, Athena (Tina) of forty-eight years, his three daughters, Beth Garber (Dave), Elyce Rodewald (Mike Bates), and Gretchen Harvey (Jim); his four stepsons; Dave Sholl (Susan), Dan Sholl (Penny), Mark Sholl (Celeste), and Steve Sholl (Connie); as well as 17 grandchildren; Anna, Rebecca, Emily, Seth, Jim, Keith, Cassandra, Taylor, Mallory, Helaina, Adam, Emily, Jesse, Carrie, Abby, Ashley, Chelsey, and Bailianna; and by 41 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Krewson), of 19 years, and his parents; Arthur John and Anna (Shupp) Rodewald; by his brother, Stanley Joseph Rodewald; daughter-in-law, Nancy Sholl; and by his beloved grandson, Keith Harvey; and by his loving granddaughters, Robin Harvey, and Amelia Sholl.

Ken’s love of golf began as a young child, and at age nine, he was involved in the City Golf Tournament. Ken was a CLU for Lincoln Life Insurance for fifty years. He was a distinguished member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He and Athena attended St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Ft. Wayne, and attended St. Armands Key Lutheran Church in Sarasota, FL. Ken’s lifelong mission was loving people and building and maintaining friendships. Ken did this through his passionate love of the game of golf. Ken was a graduate of Southside High School and attended MSU on a golf scholarship. After graduation, he started the Golf program at SSHS. He went on to win the Ft. Wayne City Golf Championship in 1952, and was runner up three times. He was a 65-year member and past president of the ORCC. He was club champion eleven years. Over his lifetime of golf, he had the amazing accomplishment of eleven holes in one, nine at ORCC. He holds the record low score for nine holes at ORCC of 29. Ken had the privilege of playing with many golf celebrities, including Sam Snead, in which they lost the match by one stroke.

Ken held many honorable titles. He was inducted into the Fort Wayne Golf Hall of Fame. Ken was very active for several years, including being president, of the Mad Anthony Golf Tournament. Ken was president of the Hoosier Celebrity Club, president of the MSU Alumni Club, president of the Macedonian Golf Club, president of the Friers, and president of St. Nicholas E. Orthodox Cathedral.

Ken and Tina were fortunate to winter in Sarasota, Florida for the last twenty years. He was the starter at Long Boat Key Country Club. Ken loved working at Long Boat Key and they adored him. In the summers, Ken worked in Ft. Wayne at Foster Park Golf Course. It was a true joy in his life.

Needless to say, “Kenny” cherished the game of golf and used that to build so many lifelong relationships with friends. Kenny dearly loved his family and made a point to tell them that he loved and appreciated them as often as possible. His family will remember him most for his charming, witty personality, and his compassion for others. His family wishes that we may laugh and reminisce, and smile and grieve together during this time.

Visitation for Ken will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with Trisagion prayers at 7pm at St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, and the funeral will be held, April 19, 2024 at 10 am with visitation one hour prior also at the church.

These moments, shared with family and friends, are cherished memories that will live on. Glenna's legacy is carried forward by her beloved husband of 42 years, Ronald Dyer; her son, Tom (Lisa) Keeler; grandchildren, Kyle Keeler, Heidi (Jeremy) Wilhelm; step-daughters, Terri Knight, Barbara Dyer, and Nancy Dyer; sister, Janice (Larry) Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews who were touched by her love and conversation. Born in Camden, New Jersey, Eleanor was the first-born child of the late John and Anna (Deery) Stanton. She attended Camden Catholic High School, where she graduated in 1945. In 1949, Eleanor met the love of her life, Bill Cranmer, at a farewell party for a mutual friend. Soon after, Bill left for college in Indiana, and the two corresponded through letters for two years. In 1951, the couple married, and Eleanor moved to Indiana. They remained happily married for 42 years, until Bill passed in 1993. In 1960, Eleanor and Bill adopted their first daughter, Kathy. Eleanor gave birth to Nancy a year later in 1961, and to their third daughter, Julie, in 1966. She always said raising children was the happiest time of her life. During her working years, Eleanor was a bookkeeper for multiple businesses and organizations. She was passionate about education, also working as a Sunday school teacher, note taker for Ivy Tech, and as part of the Literacy Council and League of the Blind. She loved being active in her community, participating in the Indiana State Federation of Poetry Clubs, Fort Wayne Writers Forum, Fort Wayne Woman’s Club, Community Writers, Allen County Historical Society, and PEO Sisterhood Chapter CX. She was also active in the Catholic church. She was an avid and talented poet, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and reading. Eleanor had a sharp wit, great sense of humor, and often described herself as a “joyful optimist.”

She adamantly declared that Jesus is the Victor and cancer is the loser. Her husband Tim and her five children were at Jenny’s side in her last days – loving, laughing, crying, praying, and singing her into eternity. She is survived by her children: Erica Rose Sauder of Fort Wayne, IN; Kirsten (Justin) Wiegand of Escondido, CA; Andre (Chelsea) Sauder of Carlsbad, CA; Adam (Alyssa) Sauder of Lafayette, IN; and Raquel Ruth Sauder of Indianapolis, IN. She leaves behind eight treasured grandchildren: Ebba, Lena, Clara, Bennett, Edmund, Oliver, Cohen, and Arthur. Her stepmother Mary B (Gutwein) Gramm of Leo, IN and mother-in-law Marie L (Pfau) Sauder of Roanoke, IL also survive.

Jenny was born September 27, 1957 in Bloomington, IL to Art and Ruth (Moser) Gramm. She was raised by Christian parents on a dairy farm near Chenoa, IL with her five sisters: Rebecca Gramm, Sally (Joel) Kaufman, Susan (Dan) Julian, Holly (George) Averbeck, Ellen (Mike, dec.) Baum, and one brother, Karl (Debbie) Gramm. Jenny grew up surrounded by a rich culture of faith and music. She had grandparents, uncles, aunts, and many cousins and friends who loved the Lord and worshiped together often. She had a smooth alto voice and had multiple verses of innumerable songs committed to memory. Jenny especially enjoyed singing with her sisters and children, and she shared her voice on several Christian albums.

Just before graduating from Chenoa High School, on April 1, 1975 she surrendered her heart and life to Christ and she has followed Him throughout her years. Jenny and Tim were married on November 19, 1978 in Gridley, IL and lived in Urbana, IL where she graduated as an Occupational Therapist from University of Illinois. In 1985 they moved to Indiana where all her children were born and raised, and where she worshiped at the Apostolic Christian Church in Leo, IN.

Jenny had a calm, fun, creative personality with abundant energy for hospitality. She was known for her philosophies: “Anyone, any number, anytime”, “Clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy”, and “If you need it and we have it, we’ll share it”. Over the years hundreds of people were blessed by the warmth of her home, from youth traveling across the country to foster children and foreign exchange students. She not only gave people a physical place to rest, but was also a safe place for many a weary soul. She met people where they were at, saw the best version of who they could be, and drew out potential they may not have even seen in themselves. Jenny also had an immense capacity for joy; she had a way of turning everyday moments into something fun and memorable. She deeply enjoyed beauty and adventure in creation which she shared with her children and grandchildren as they grew. She had extensive knowledge of the natural world, and led many nature walks with her kids and others–showing off the wonder of God’s design in everything from a new spring flower to a little worm wriggling in the dirt. Jenny had both a talent and passion for gardening. She tenderly cared for her garden in the same way she cared for the hearts of those she fed. This love for nature was also mirrored in her love for art. From her knowledge of classic works to doing crafts with her children and grandchildren, Jenny was constantly finding ways to inspire beauty and creativity in those around her.

Over the years, Jenny worked on the family farm, Hoerr Nursery, Carle Hospital, HopeBridge Therapy, and Parkview Hospital. More importantly, she homeschooled her children through 8th grade and was active in many of their activities, music, and sports in the home school community and at Leo High School. Jenny volunteered in various roles at church including Sunday School, VBS, and choir, and at Gateway Woods Family Services where she received The Proverbs 31 Award for women of Christian character. For 20 years she served as an after-hours phone counselor for A Hope Center crisis pregnancy ministry. Together with church friends in 1990, the Sauders founded an extended weekend Family Camp that included over 200 campers and continues to this day. In recent years, she volunteered as a mentor and MindCap therapist at Redemption House.

Jenny was lovely, loving, and loved. Her heart’s desire, highest hope, and fervent prayer for all of her family and friends is to live joyously together forever in the presence of the Lord.

Julie was a warrior who proved doctors wrong time and time again. The strength she had to live was immeasurable. She had the most beautiful smile and a shining personality that made everyone love her. Julie was a kind and giving soul. She was an animal lover and rescuer. She’d give you the shirt off her back or food off her plate if you needed it. She loved her children more than anything in this world. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her family.

Julie spent her summers at Sparta Lake. Her constant in a world ever changing. Her happy place. She was a nurse for 30 years and cared deeply for each patient like they were family. She always had a creative project she was working on, whether it be a seasonal decoration, a gift for loved ones, stained glass, or a home DIY project.

Julie is survived by her partner, Brent Nuttle; her children, Nicole (Bobby) Steele, Tim Steele, Ryan Steele, and Rachel Steele; her grandson, Jackson Wirshup; and her brother, Jason (Melissa) Hoffman.

Julie is preceded in death by her mother Tracie Hoffman.

A celebration of life will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, IN at 2pm on Sunday April 21, 2024 .
