Sharon Brown - August 06, 1943 - April 29, 2024

Departed: 04/29/2024 (Fairfax)
Obituary Preview: Sharon Margaret Callahan Brown, lovingly known as Sharon to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2024, in Springfield, VA. Born on August 6, 1943, Sharon's life was marked by her insatiable curiosity, her passion for education, and the joy she took
in the company of her loved ones. Sharon's journey began in sunny California where the foundation of her character was laid—a foundation built on the values of kindness, determination, and an enduring sense of humor. Her academic pursuits led her to Whittier College and later to George Washington University, and then to George Mason University, where she earned her Master's degree. Her intellectual achievements were a source of
great pride and enabled her to make lasting contributions in her professional field. At the heart of Sharon's world was her beloved family. She shared a beautiful and enduring partnership with her spouse, Theodore Wade Brown. Together, they navigated the waters of life, celebrating triumphs and weathering challenges side by side. Her role as a mother to Deborah Mulcahy (Patrick) of Richmond, VA, Michael (Tricia) of Richmond, VA, David of Herndon, VA, and Jeffrey (Kelly) of Gainesville, VA, was performed with unconditional love and a wisdom that guided her children through their own life's adventures. Sharon's legacy continued to grow with the birth of her grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, and Emma, each of whom brought her immense
joy and pride. Outside the home, Sharon's passions were many, but none quite compared to the elegance and grace she found in ballroom dancing. The dance floor was her canvas, and with each step and turn, she painted moments of pure happiness. The friendships she formed through this shared love were deep and enduring, providing her with a sense of community and belonging that
enriched her life beyond measure. Sharon's presence was a gift to those who knew her. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was sought after, and her ability to listen made her an invaluable confidant. Her life was a tapestry of meaningful experiences, woven together by the relationships she cherished and the
impact she had on those around her. As we say goodbye to Sharon, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with her. Her memory will continue to be a beacon of love and strength for her family and friends. Though she has left this earthly realm, the essence of who she was—a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a cherished friend—will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. Sharon will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the
beautiful memories she has left behind. Sharons’ request was to hold a private family service. She will be laid at rest at Fairfax Memorial
Park Cemetery. Please keep Ted, the children and grandchildren in your continued prayers.

Sung Bum Kim - December 03, 1963 - April 27, 2024

Departed: 04/27/2024 (Fairfax)
Obituary Preview: Sung Bum Kim from Clifton, Virginia passed away in the evening of April 27, 2024. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family, friends and members of the One Mind Church where he was a devout and active member.
Sung Bum immigrated to the United States in 2001 bringing his wife, Yeo Ok and his two children, Leah and Daniel. In many ways Sung Bum epitomized the American dream. He worked hard and diligently to build a better life for him and his family. Shortly after his arrival, Sungbum studied a trade and subsequently started his own HVAC company, serving his community with integrity. Though work kept him very busy, he always made time for his true passions; his family and the church.
Being of a certain immigrant generation, Sungbum did not have much time for leisure. Everything he did was for the betterment of his family and community; not only looking at the present, but towards the future. In 2015 he purchased an old house in desperate need of a full remodel. Although advised against the purchase due to the work necessary to make it livable, Sungbum with his wife took on the challenge. They completed their work quickly as the need was great; to care for his elderly father, suffering from Parkinson’s who needed a one floor home with a lot of space. It is now a beautiful home in Clifton overlooking five acres. It is the home his family and friends gathered to say their farewells. It’s his will to leave this home for the future generations, to uphold the values of togetherness and family.
Sung Bum is survived by his wife, Yeo Ok, his daughter, Leah and his son Daniel, Alex, his son in law and Suyeon, his daughter in law. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Henry, Carter and Kenneth; the first of which gave Sung Bum his first American name, Joey.
A memorial service will be held on 10:00am Friday, May 3rd at One Mind Church in Woodbridge, VA; followed by the burial at Fairfax Memorial Park at the 1:00pm.
