Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, we gather here today to celebrate the life of our beloved friend and colleague, Liz Taylor. As we go through this difficult time, let us remember that we are not here to mourn the loss of Liz; rather, we are here to pay tribute to an inspiring and extraordinary person who graced our lives with her passion, dedication, and benevolence.

Liz was one of those rare individuals who not only cared about her job but cared about her patients and their well-being. As a professional in the X-ray department, she touched many lives with her expert skills and reassuring presence. Her calm demeanor, kindness, and infinite compassion allowed her to build long-lasting relationships with her patients, which went beyond the walls of the hospital.

I often heard her referring to a particular psalm that she read frequently: Psalm 23. She found comfort and peace in these words, and I believe they perfectly embody the spirit with which she led her life:

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.”

Liz personified the shepherd - guiding, nurturing, and offering solace to those around her when they needed it the most. Like a shepherd, she was also a humble person, never seeking recognition for her compassionate acts, even though they profoundly changed those she aided.

I remember a specific moment we shared at work where Liz's kindness shined so brightly. A young patient was anxious about getting an X-ray for the first time. Liz, sensing their anxiety, took the time to talk to them, explain the process, and ease their fears. After the procedure, she even helped the patient to their car, holding their hand the whole way. This single act, one of many such instances, speaks volumes about Liz's character and dedication to her patients.

Many of us have been fortunate enough to witness Liz's selflessness and altruism. As her colleague, I considered her a mentor and role model. As her friend, I cherished her unwavering support and the warmth of her presence.

Today, though we are faced with grief and loss, let us remember the many important lessons that Liz has taught us in her lifetime. Let us follow in her footsteps and strive to be selfless, compassionate, and humble in our endeavors, just as she was.

I know she would want us to remember her with a smile, and not with tears. It's our duty to cherish Liz's memory by bringing to others the light of compassion and kindness that she so naturally spread through her life. For in doing so, we are transmitting Liz's love, and proving that she will never be forgotten.

In closing, let us all carry Liz's legacy with us as we go forth in life. Spread her light and love to others, and it will become evident that Liz Taylor, our dear friend and cherished member of our community, will forever remain in our hearts. Thank you.
