John S. Hunt III - January 20, 1958 - April 06, 2024

Departed: 04/06/2024 (Vancouver)
Obituary Preview: John Seaton Hunt III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend passed away on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, at the age of 66 in Ridgefield, Washington.
John was born in Bakersfield, California on January 20th, 1958, to Father John Seaton Hunt Jr. and Mother Mary Orrison Hunt.
John graduated from Clovis High School in 1976. From there, he began his professional career in 1977, working as a mechanic for United Automotive. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Betsy Ude, and together they built a family and home that was filled with love.
In 1987, John joined the city of Fresno fleet management division as a mechanic. He studied business at California State University, Fresno and, moving up the ranks from mechanic to manager. While at the City of Fresno, he was recognized for many achievements. They received the nation’s most rigorous fleet industry certification, Clean Cities National Partner Award for City Fleet of the Year by the United States Department of Energy. In June 2005, John was named the first-ever Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year by Government Fleet Magazine. In November 2005, John was recruited by the city of Portland’s fleet operation. Under John’s leadership, Portland rapidly transformed and received national recognition for the 100 Best Fleets in North America program. Portland went from an unranked fleet in 2005 to #1 in 2011. John was certified by the American Public Works Association (APWA) as a Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP). He received The Professional Manager of the Year Award in Public Fleet from APWA for outstanding achievements. John served on several Boards and Commissions that support public fleet managers, including the APWA, the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the National Fleet Managers Association, and the Department of Homeland Security, and Sustainability and Efficiency Task Force. He was among 10 inaugural members inducted into Government Fleet Magazine’s Public Fleet Hall of Fame. In June 2015, the Government Fleet Management Alliance (GFMA) and the Coalition for Green Fleet Management awarded the City of Portland with the highest industry honors as the very first of only two fleets in the nation to be named a Fleet Masters operation.
After many years of managing organizations and teaching fleet management, John co-founded Public Fleet Advisors LLC in 2017 to provide fleet management mentorship and training to public fleet organizations. Before his retirement last year, he was a principal advisor and enjoyed helping fleet organizations implement efficiencies to streamline and strengthen their competitive edge.
John had many passions throughout his life and once he set his mind on something that he found joy in, there was no stopping him. He made lifelong friends when he started riding and racing dirt bikes in his early years. Taught friends and family how to waterski. He loved bicycling and traveling around the U.S. working in the yard, helping others, and his most recent passion comes from his love for music. He spent countless hours watching videos on how to play the piano. When he learned a new song, you can guarantee it was the first thing he wanted you to hear when you came over. Oh, how we will all miss hearing him play.
John had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation. A man of many stories, some that you have heard several times, but you still enjoy them every time they are told. As a man of true integrity, he worked hard for what he believed in, and it showed with everything that had been accomplished in his life.
His love for his family was profound. He focused on providing his children with the best life possible without worrying about himself. He was the best grandpa (Papa) to his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them catching frogs in the pond, showing up at all sporting events, teaching them how things work to sitting on the swing having an ice cream sandwich.
John was a truly great man whose impact will forever be felt by his family, who love him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, and love will be forever engrained in all he knew.
Sadly, John was preceded in death by his father, John Seaton Hunt Jr. and his sister Jennifer Lynn Hunt-Watson. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife Betsy, his children Rebecca (Rusty) Boag, Jordan Hunt, and Tyler (Ann) Hunt, his adored grandchildren Brooke and Jake, his mother Mary Hunt, sister Stephanie Western and a close-knit family of nieces and nephews. His absence will also be profoundly felt by a community of friends and colleagues, all who respected and admired him. A Celebration of Life for John will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, from 1:00 – 4:00pm at Windy Hills Winery, 1346 S 38th Court, Ridgefield, WA 98642

Departed: 02/16/2024 (Vancouver)
Obituary Preview: Elizabeth A. Pine, 78, of Vancouver, Washington passed away on February 16, 2024.
She was born in Goldendale on July 25, 1945 to John Wesley and Lucille Lickliter. As a child, Beth loved playing with her sister, Leslie, and helping at their family restaurant. Beth attended Goldendale High School where she met and fell in love with Edward Pine. They celebrated 60 years of marriage, and a lifetime of memories, this past August. Beth worked as the Klickitat County tourist director for many years and the lasting effects of her service can still be seen throughout the gorge. Beth loved her family and people fiercely. If there was a social gathering, you could bet that she’d be there, inviting you to join, or chatting it up with friends and family. There was not a stranger that Beth met whom she did not quickly make a friend. Grandchildren were one of her greatest blessings in life. She could often be heard saying, “If I’d have known how much fun grandkids were, I’d of had them first!”
Hummingbirds were a lifelong love of hers, and those who loved her think of the beautiful bird when they think of Beth. She was a collector and loved antiques. Beth also loved sewing, coloring, crafting, and long phone calls with loved ones. She would joke about her love of Patrick Swayze and would always say he could keep his boots under her bed anytime. Beth was vibrant and loving to all.
Beth was preceded in death by her father John Wesley Lickliter, mother Lucille Roderick Lickliter, sister Leslie Vaughn and son Albert Pine. Beth is survived by husband Edward Pine, daughter Christy Burt (Scott), son Scott Pine (Melanie), and grandchildren Jennifer Sawyer (Skye), Kenny Burt (Mollie), Evan Pine, Kasey Pine, and many others whom she called and loved as her own. She is also survived by five great grandchildren. A celebration of life is being held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2pm. It is being held at Summit View Church Westside campus. 11718 NW 31st Avenue Vancouver, WA 98685
