Cremation rites have been accorded and private services will be held. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.
Ronald was born on December 29, 1934, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Anastasia (Trnka) Pitra. He married Patricia Ragon on June 18, 1955, in Moline. He attended trade school for pattern making and went on to become a metal pattern maker for John Deere, retiring after 38 years. He served as the former union president. Ronald enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1957 Chevy. He enjoyed working outside and could fix just about anything. Ronald loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Kelly Newman, Sherri Johnson, Darren Pitra, and Brian (Julie) Pitra; grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, Ryan Pitra, and Paige Pitra; and brother-in-law, Don (Joanne) Ragon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anastasia, and son-in-law, Tony Johnson.

Obituary Preview: Elayne Hogan, 96, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her home.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Private burial will be held at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., is assisting the family.
Elayne was born on February 26, 1926, to Arvid and Edla Swanson. She lived in Moline, Illinois. Elayne had two brothers, Vernon, Carl “Culley” and a sister, Mae. She attended Moline High School, Class of 1944. While in high school she was employed by Walgreens Drug Store and later in life she was employed by Farmall Credit Union and then United Airlines.
In 1947, Elayne married William Hogan and in 1948 she gave birth to their daughter Marcia. Elayne was an avid golf fan and she loved to watch golf on tv and cheer on any Swedish golfer. She worked as a volunteer at the John Deere Golf Tournament and chauffeured the players as needed while they were here. She worked the tournament for over twenty years. Elayne was very proud of her Swedish heritage. She was a member of the American Legion, the Viking Club and other organizations. She was a big fan of the military as her husband was a veteran.  She was on record as the oldest woman to have flown in a B17 flying fortress military airplane. She was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching a variety of sports.
Elayne loved her home and really enjoyed her neighbors and neighborhood get togethers.  For the last 10 months she lived at Amber Ridge (Cedarhurst) Assisted Living where she met new friends, enjoyed activities, and listened to musicians that played the piano there. Elayne loved gospel music and her favorite artists were the Gaither’s and the Statler Brothers. She enjoyed church and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Karen Swanson; brother-in-law, Jim Hogan; nieces, Lynn Baker, Dorothy Yonke and Carol Tuominen; and nephew, Brian Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marcia Surra-Hogan; husband, William; sister, Mae Johnson; brother, Culley Swanson; and nephew, Jeff Johnson.
Those left to honor her memory are special friends, Jim and Anna Catour, Ronald Ostrom, godson and his wife, Randy and LaDonna Jensen, and all the special friends and families who were part of her 96-year journey.

Edoh was born on December 31, 1981, in Aného, Togo, the son of Ayite and Ama (Enisiwah) Agbegninou. He married Ayawa Mawuena Naneh on December 24, 2009, in Aneho, Togo.  He was employed in maintenance at Tyson Foods for 16 years.  Edoh was of strong Christian faith and loved listening to gospel music.
Survivors include his wife, Ayawa; children, Shallom Winner and Adonai Joshua; siblings, Akouétè. Agbegninou, Pascal Agbegninou, and Pascaline Agbegninou.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ayite and Ama; and brother, Akouété.

Frank was born on September 13, 1927, in Carlisle, Indiana, the son of Arch and Gertrude (McSparin) Banfield. Frank enlisted in US Navy in 1944 and served until the end of World War II. He was stationed in Okinawa during the battle of Okinawa. He later enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in AP during the Berlin Air Lift. He married Jeanne Blue on March 7, 1953, at Union Congregational Church in Moline. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2019. Frank worked at Oscar Mayer as a meat cutter retiring in 1989. He later worked at Jewel Foods from 1990 to 1997.  Frank was a member of First Lutheran Church in Moline. He enjoyed bowling, going to museums, attending concerts, and volunteering at his children’s schools. Frank loved going to car shows, bicycling, and going on road trips. Frank was a Santa for 10 years at South Park Mall.

A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.  Memorials may be made to Q.C. Animal Welfare or to the American Cancer Society.
Yvonne was born on March 12, 1936 in McCracken, Kansas to Jess and Beryl McFarren.  She married Victor Louis Grothusen on July 21, 1956 in McCracken, Kansas and he preceded her in death in August, 2010.
Yvonne was a graduate of Brown-Mackie school of business; she was employed with CF Motor Freight and was a proud teamster member.  Yvonne was a member of the Sherrard Lutheran Church.   Yvonne loved her home at Fyre Lake where she spent hours tending to her many flower gardens, bird feeders and feeding any wildlife that ventured into their beautiful lake side yard.  She loved all of her family and was especially fond of her grand dog, Chloe.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Grothusen; niece, Marty Larson and her favorite nephew, Robert Larson, as well as her extended family in Anamosa, IA and Kansas.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her two sons, Kelley and Scot; sister, Doris; brothers, Dean, Gene and Richard; and nephew, Brad Larson.

Jean was born on October 22, 1934, in Port Byron, IL, the daughter of Hans and Signe (Pearson) Thornbloom. She was married to Bill Harding and Larry Dunn but lived her life to the fullest with Chuck Larvenz who preceded her in death in 2001.
Jean came from a long line of smart, stoic, strong and stubborn Swedes. She retired from Case IH in 1994 after 30 years in various administrative positions. At 61, she and her husband were pioneers of eBay, turning their love of antiques into retirement income. She joined Facebook when she was 74 and was a fierce Words With Friends competitor. Jean enjoyed cats, reading, watching sports, bird watching, Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. She liked all those things, but she loved her family more.  She gave the best gifts, remembered every special event, and taught us that there is always room in your heart for more love.
Survivors include her siblings Kay (Jess) Casillas, Lynn (Bill) Stone, children Dawn Sterling, Jon (Tammi) Harding, Toni Finch, Jack (Nancy) Harding, Tracy (David) Northcutt, Kelly (David) Quillin; stepson, Sean (Terrie) Larvenz; grandchildren, Lance, Michael, Jared, Autumn, Noelle, Laura, Robyn, Julie, Ethan, Melissa, Chet, Steph, Sam, Spencer, Shane, Danielle; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Jim attended the University of Iowa and was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved sports. He went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corp. Jim served as the county chairman during the Jim Thompson reelection campaign for governor. He married Mary in East Moline. Jim was the owner and president of Blackhawk Foundry and Machine in Davenport, Iowa. He enjoyed his time at the cabin in Wisconsin and spending summers in Canada fishing with his dad, son and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Abby Grafton, Moline, and Ben (Justine) Grafton, California; stepchildren, Shawna (Josh) Coram, Florida, and Alisha (Tim) Frederick, New York; step granddaughter, Grace Coram; sisters, Mindy (Steve) Kruse, Florida and Suzi Apple, Vail, Colorado; and his beloved dogs.

Mrs. Guthrie worked at Service Rubber. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a big Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed taking care of her dog Hank as well as her many cats.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 21st Ave, Moline, IL.  Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Burial and military honors will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, Clinton County, IA.  Memorials may be made to the church or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
John was born on May 5, 1932, in Moline, the son of Burtis and Cora (Satern) Eastman. John served in the Navy as a patternmaker on the USS Prairie from 1952-1955. While in the Navy, he had the opportunity to climb Mount Fuji in Japan. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and sharing the story of it with friends and family.  After his service, John worked as a patternmaker at Modern Pattern for over 27 years and then at various pattern shops in the Quad Cities. He married Jeanette Soenksen on October 13, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, IA. John was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline for 65 years. He was an usher, involved with the youth group, a member of the board of elders, and the property committee.
John was an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed going to Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, for fishing, tenting, and backpacking with friends and family. John loved reading and riding his motorcycle. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog, Digger, and many cats over the years.
Survivors include his wife, daughters, Jeanne (Kelvin Faur) Eastman, Moline, Jill (Wayne) Eastman-Foss, Moline; sisters-in-law, Rosella Eastman, Milan, Ann Soenksen, DeWitt, IA, Judy Soenksen, Le Claire, IA, JoAnn (Dale) Greve, DeWitt, IA; brother-in-law, Milo (Norma) Soenksen, DeWitt, IA; nieces and nephews including Joe Eastman, East Moline, and Becky (Sid) Gardner, Apache Junction, AZ.

Mel was born on March 16, 1944, in Davenport, IA, the son of Lawrence and Ella (Diederichsen) Laverenz. He graduated from Davenport West High School and worked for Crescent Electric Supply Co. until 2009. Mel was a veteran of the US Army, serving two years in Europe. Mel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. He married Terrie Swanson on June 14, 1984, in Orion. He was a member of the Elks Club in Davenport, IA, for over 40 years.
Mel loved watching all sports and especially enjoyed a good game. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and was an avid Nascar fan for most of his life. Vacations were often spent traveling across the country, hiking and camping with family and friends.  Family was of utmost importance to him with his children and grandchildren being his pride and joy. His lap was always open to the littles in the family.
Survivors include his wife, Terrie; children, Shana (Kurt) Schindler, Le Claire, IA, Katie (Mike) Crawford, Coal Valley, Bekka Laverenz, Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Courtney Schindler, Roy Schindler, Liam Crawford, and Emersyn Crawford.

He preceded her in death on November 27, 1977. Dorothy married Arthur W. Gustus on January 5, 1980, in Moline. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2013. Dorothy was raised by her father and stepmother, Eva Stevens, in Canada and later moved to the US and got her citizenship. She worked at Churchill and Churchill as an accountant. She loved her orchids and her cats.
Survivors include her son, Bruce (Janet) Kerr, Gainesville, GA, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a nephew, 4 nieces, and a special neighbor, Dan Cimarrusti.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and a nephew.

Per George's request, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine for scientific purposes. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline, IL. later this summer. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., is assisting the family.
George was born on February 26, 1936, in Chicago, the son of Mathew and Edith (Sindelar) Oles, Hinsdale, IL. He graduated from Hinsdale Central High School, Class of 1954. He excelled in track & field, and football. He earned a sports scholarship to Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO. While in college, he met and married Verna Leone McEndree on August 24, 1957, in Chicago. Settled in Downers Grove, IL. and welcomed sons Scott, Mark, & Mathew.
George began a teaching career at the Glen Ellyn (Hadley) Junior High School, Glen Ellyn, IL. teaching math and science as well as serving as the boys’ student counselor. He then pursued a career in sales with Firestone Tires in Arlington Heights, IL. and as an Account Executive with the Pioneer Press out of Saint Charles, IL. In 1969, George accepted a position with the Masonite company and moved the family to Davenport. He was the chairman of the PEP Program with the City of Davenport during Kathy Kirshbaum’s term as Mayor. He later worked with the PEPCO Litho Inc. Cedar Rapids, IA
George is best known for establishing his talents providing fine painting, decorating & restoration services throughout the Quad Cities. He specialized in custom wallpaper installations and was featured in a Davenport Showcase Home. His attention to detail earned him a reputation amongst private homeowners, high-end interior designers, and furniture providers.
George was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church of Moline since 1972. He was active in the choir, served as a deacon, and deacon chairman. He lent his talents to the general maintenance and aesthetic needs in and around the church facility. He freely gave of his time to those in need, counseled many, yet always demonstrating his servant heart.
Survivors include his wife, Verna, sister Marge Dickinson, Galesburg, IL. sons, Mark Oles, Palm Springs, CA. Mathew (Karen) Oles, Davenport. grandchildren, Scott (Tabitha) Oles, Rock Island, Adam (Ellen) Oles, Shreveport, LA. and Rachel (Stephen) Smith, Davenport. great grandchildren, Lorcan, Torin, & Deaglan Oles, and 1 expected great grandchild late this summer.

Ron retired from Rock Island Integrated Services at the Rock Island Arsenal as a supervisor.  He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping.  He also liked tending to his yard and gardening.

Lorraine was born on November 12, 1925, in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Ray and Olga (Johnson) Frye. She married Floyd B. Spillum on October 1, 1950, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2013. Lorraine worked as a secretary at Moline High School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. She enjoyed gardening and her yard was to be proud of. “A family that golfed together, stayed together,” and we played a lot of golf. The many friends she got to know from Mill Creek and Oakwood CC, the girls’ leagues at Indian Bluff, Saukie, her long standing bridge club, and the Curves Girls. Nothing could keep her away when Tiger Woods was on the TV. Lorraine always put others before herself.

Roger was born on October 16, 1940, in Moline, the son of Ernest and Melba (Erickson) Baumann. He married Cherie Lund in 1962, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Roger began his career in February of 1972 as a firefighter / EMT with the Moline Fire Department retiring as a driver in 1997.  He also worked installing flooring going on to teach and work with his sons.  He loved motorcycles and cars.  Roger originally started the women’s slow and fast pitch regional softball league and coached the Bobcats team.  He also loved boxing, a sport which he helped coach and train in the area for over 50 years.

Jane was born on February 15, 1960, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Magorian) Bjork. She married Jerry Hill on April 27, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Moline. She graduated from United Township High School, class of 1978. She went on to earn her teaching degree from Western Illinois University. She was the computer teacher in the Silvis School District for many years. Jane worked as a paraprofessional for Black Hawk Area Education Center, retiring in June of 2021, after 7 years. She was a coach for Relay for Life and the Special Olympics coach for seventeen years for the Silvis School District.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Hill, Silvis; son, Nick DeShane, Silvis; bonus kids, Jordan (Amber) Hill, Moline, and Katy Hill, Moline; grandson, Jeremy Hill; brothers, Jay Bjork, Joel (Stephanie) Bjork, East Moline, Matt Bell, Mt. Sterling, IA; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Roger was married to Sherry Ruby on September 24, 1966; they later divorced. He then married Julie (Gardner) Tate on December 1, 1971, in Silvis, to which he adopted her two sons (John and Dan) and together they had their daughter, Missy. They later divorced. Roger then married Mary (Noce) Vroman on March 24, 2007, in East Moline, IL.
Roger was a US Army Veteran, serving in Germany during the Vietnam era.
Roger worked in the home construction business with his father before starting his own company, RW Land Construction, in the early 1970’s. Roger and his dad built over 280 homes in the area. He then worked in the home remodeling arena. He was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in East Moline, IL. Roger and Mary were dedicated members of Christ United Methodist Church, Silvis Campus.
Roger enjoyed the outdoors, taking many trips to Colorado and going on many cruises.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Moline; son, John (Jill) Land, Las Vegas, son, Dan (Dawn) Land, Moline, daughter, Missy (Paul) Garcia, Hampton, step-daughter, Anne Vroman, Las Vegas; sister Kathy (Don) Harker, East Moline; brother-in-law, Cliff Jordan, East Moline; uncle, Don (Genny) Jenkins, Keokuk, IA; several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren with one great grandson on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Lou Land; sister, Linda Jordan; and brother, Richie Land.
