Obituary Preview: HERKIMER - Mr. Werner Buchmeier, age 88, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away on Thursday morning, May 18, 2023, in Newburgh, NY, with family by his side.
Born in January 1935, Werner was the son of the late Eugene and Mina Buchmeier. He was born in Ebersbach, Germany.
He came with his family to America in 1951 and honorably served in the National Guard at Fort Drum, NY.
In June of 1958, Werner was wed to his sweetheart, Mary Rei Buchmeier and together they shared almost 60 years in a loving and devoted union.
Werner was employed with Library Bureau, in Herkimer, working for many years as a Manager in Contract Sales. He was a respected employee, ensuring he could provide a comfortable life for his adored wife and children.
Throughout the years, he enjoyed spending time with his wife. Together they traveled worldwide, joyously making memories. In his later years, he would enjoy woodworking, baking and building model gliders. Though he was a quiet man, he enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and close friends to make you laugh. He always made sure to call up his loved ones to hear about their days and offer words of encouragement and advice. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether it was just watching golf or a TV show together or woodworking in his garage workshop on various projects for his children and grandchildren. He would always know how to put a smile on your face.
Survivors include his daughter, sons, son-in-law, and daughters-in-law: Linda and Louie Catalusci, of Newburgh, NY, Michael and Linda Buchmeier, of Clemmons, NC and Gary and Colleen Buchmeier, of Osprey, FL; His grandchildren, Alicia Catalusci, Bobby Catalusci, Nicholas Buchmeier, Andrew Buchmeier, Ryan Buchmeier, Sophie Buchmeier and Anna Buchmeier; his brother and sister-in-law, Otto and Dorothy Buchmeier, of Nevada; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Julia Fifield, of Herkimer. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Susan, David, Scott, Sharon, Rick, Susan and Joe; His cousins, Rosie Naegele, Ivan and Barbara Fasset, Maria Grupp and Ann Weeks; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; along with his dear friends, Ted Sosnoski, Mary Peruzzi, Rosemarie Peruzzi, Amelia Schimek; and his loving and supportive neighbors.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Werner's viewing hours, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY. Shirley A. DeForrest - December 28, 1939 - May 02, 2023

Obituary Preview: Mrs. Shirley A. DeForrest, age 83, a longtime Herkimer area resident, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023 at the Foltsbrook Center in Herkimer.
Born on December 28, 1939, Shirley was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Lucy) Macrina. She was raised and educated locally.
On January 5, 1964, Shirley was wed to the late James D. DeForrest, Sr. and together they were blessed with thirty-six years of marriage until Jim’s passing on July 17, 2000.
For many years, Shirley worked for the Scialdo family as the Head of Chamber Maids at the Prospect Inn in Herkimer. She was a longtime member of the Tony R. George Post Women’s Auxiliary and in her free time, she could often be found out in her garden or sitting on her porch.
She enjoyed her trips to the casino and her weekly coffee visits with Gerald Gallagher. Her first and foremost priority was always the well being of her husband, sons and grandchildren. She was loving, selfless and giving and had a kind and generous spirit. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her two sons, James D. DeForrest, Jr. and wife, Marisa and Brian DeForrest and Lynn Laracuente; her grandchildren, James DeForrest, Allison DeForrest and fiancé, Ben Goodfellow, Nicholas DeForrest and Jonathan DeForrest; and one great grandchild, Kinsley DeForrest. She also leaves her brother, George Macrina; her sister, Mary Bunce and husband, Donald; and her sister-in-law, Karen Macrina; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Aside from her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, John Macrina.
A special thank you is extended to the staff of the 5th Floor at Foltsbrook Rehabilitation and Nursing for the care and compassion shown to Shirley throughout her stay there.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation for Shirley on Tuesday evening, May 16, 2023 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY (315) 866-1011.
Shirley’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning, May 17, 2023, at 9:30AM at the funeral home and at 10:00AM at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Terence Healy. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery where Shirley’s earthly remains will be laid to rest with her husband.

Margaret D. Hall - August 10, 1931 - April 11, 2023

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER – Margaret Dunning Hall, age 91, entered eternal rest, on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Siengenthaler Center Hospice Program, in New Hartford, NY, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on August 10, 1931, in Herkimer, NY, to James and Margaret (Doyle) Dunning, the sixth of seven children. Margaret attended school in Mohawk and Herkimer and graduated with the Herkimer High School, class of 1948, at the age of 16. She married, in 1949 and gave birth to six children by the age of 27, raising each to become a successful, caring adult. While doing so, she also worked full time in human resources, first at Remington Rand/Univac and later at Remington Arms, completed an associate’s degree in business, at Herkimer County Community College and completed coursework towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She applied her accounting skills through retirement seasonal tax work at H&R Block. Throughout the years, Margaret volunteered tirelessly for various charitable organizations, including Catholic Charities and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, of Herkimer County, where she received multiple awards for outstanding contributions. Her passion was to ensure that impoverished populations and those without insurance would have access to critical medications needed to sustain health and life. She served the community in this capacity until nearly 80 years of age and, years later, would still hear from those whose family or friends her kindness had touched.
Margaret is predeceased by her parents; three sisters, Helen Wilson, Mary Burke and Patricia Doxtader; and three brothers, James (Bob) Dunning, Charles (Bill) Dunning and Francis (Bud) Dunning.
She is survived by her six children: Peter (Madeline) Hall, of Bohemia, Douglas Hall, of Herkimer, Marijoy (Ed) Hall, of Utica, Sheila Hall, of Richfield Springs, Richard (Sherri) Hall Jr., of Herkimer and Donna Hall, of Albany. Margaret is also survived by her granddaughter and BFF for life, Tina (Gene) Yelle, as well as 15 additionally adored grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Angela Dunning and Evelyn Dunning; and many nieces and nephews and their offspring.
Margaret’s family wishes to thank the Siengenthaler Center for the loving care they provided during her last days and her niece, Mary Burdick, for her loving support as well.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, at St. Francis de Sales Church, 219 N. Bellinger St., Herkimer, NY. Burial will occur later in May, at the Calvary Cemetery, in Herkimer.

Angela Vella - February 13, 1930 - March 21, 2023

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER – Angela Vella passed away peacefully, at home, on March 21, 2023, with her daughters at her side. She was born on February 3, 1930, in Herkimer, New York, the middle child of Americo and Margaret (Baltico) Risi and graduated from Herkimer High School, in 1948. She worked to support her future husband Anthony while he attended college and they were married for 57 years, until Anthony’s passing in 2011. A true “people person,” Angela made many friends throughout her life and greeted everyone with a smile. She worked for many years in Montgomery Ward and often spoke about how much fun she had there with her co-workers. Her genuine kindness and uncomplaining nature drew people to her. Her home and her kitchen were always open. After Anthony’s passing, Angela moved to Albany to share a home with her daughters. While she missed her family and friends in ‘the valley,’ she moved forward with good humor and her usual positive outlook. Angela volunteered at Teresian House Nursing Home, in Albany and went on many travel adventures with her daughters.
Angela was proud of her extended family. Besides her parents and her husband Anthony, she was predeceased by her sister, Victoria Ameduri; and brother, Lawrence Risi; as well as in-laws, Fiore Ameduri, Janet Risi, and Angelo and Helen Vella, all of whom had a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her cherished sister and best friend, Maryann Millar; her beloved “baby” brother, Richard Risi; her in-laws, Arnold Millar and Loretta Risi; and many special nieces, nephews and their children. She will be missed beyond words by her daughters, Lynne Vella and Margaret Vella; and four-legged companions, Daisy, Mimi and Ralphie.
Angela’s daughters are grateful for and thank their family members and friends who also loved Angela and helped us make her comfortable at home during these last weeks. A special thank you to her caregivers, Sheila Adams and Deb Stalker, for the years of help and friendship to Angela and to Gail McCormick, of Community Hospice for her care and support.

She was born on August 22, 1955, in Herkimer, NY, a daughter of the late Edmund A. and Marise D. (Wilcox) LaPorte. She graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1973. Deb’s marriage of over 45 years was to Dennis J. Morgan, Wednesday, May 7, 1977, in Herkimer.
Deb was a switchboard operator with Montgomery Ward, worked with Spencerport schools, was a library director, an office manager for her husband’s business and bookkeeper at a marine dealership. She was so proud of Williamsburg Friends of Animals, Orlando, Florida, established in 2007 and still in operation.
Survivors include her beloved family: husband, Dennis; mother-in-law, Janet Morgan-Hyde, of Mohawk, NY; daughters, Nikki LaLonde, of Florida and Kelly Dunham (Michael), of California; a brother, Don Hadcock, of Utica, NY; grandchildren, Alexis Linder, Olivia Linder, Peter Dunham and Morgan Dunham; in-laws, Denise Rando, of Mohawk, NY and Donald Morgan (Helen), of Florida; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Brian and his daughter, Michelle Ann LaPorte; and brother-in-law, David Morgan.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer. Deb’s funeral will commence at 12 noon, on Saturday, at the funeral home, after calling hours, with spring interment to be held at Calvary Cemetery, in Herkimer, NY.
Deb will be sincerely missed by all of us who loved her so much.

Born on March 24, 1940, in Manhattan, NY, Brenda was the daughter of the late James and Thelma (LaBarge) Huston. She was raised and educated in the Bronx, graduating from St. Joseph’s School.
On August 3, 1960, Brenda was married to Mr. James Brice in Yonkers, NY and together they shared in a loving union of 47 years until Jim’s passing on July 11, 2008.
Brenda’s career was spent in the non-for-profit field and her last position was that of Executive Director for the Mt. Kisco Housing Authority in Mt. Kisco, NY. She was a member of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer where she belonged to the crafty ladies society. She was also a member of the Herkimer Senior Citizens club and a life member of the Herkimer VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Brenda is survived by her children, Ginger and Ernie Hogue of Hayward, CA and Kenyon and Karen Brice of Mt. Kisco, NY; and her grandchildren, Arend Smith, Fox Smith, Jamie Brice and Joseph Brice.

She moved to Herkimer in the 1930’s. Gloria married Richard Bunce, on October 25, 1947, at St. Francis de Sales Church Rectory, in Herkimer, New York.
Surviving family members include her two sons, Thomas Bunce and his wife, Nancy, of Texas and David R. Bunce and his wife, Teresa, of Herkimer; two daughters, Deborah Sheppard and her husband, Rick, of New Hampshire and Barbara Rose and her husband, Bernie, of Florida; her beloved grandchildren, Kristen Sheppard, Dr. Jeannie Marie Leoutsakos, Allison Bunce, David Bunce, Jason Bunce and Wesley Bunce; great-grandchildren, Richard and Nicholas Leoutsakos and Gavin Bunce; and a very special nephew, Kevin McKinney and his wife, Kathy. In addition, she leaves her Goddaughter, Barbara Wainwright; her longtime friends, Rosie Greshceck and Pam and Jeff Farrell; and her dear canine companion, her dog, Odie.
She is predeceased by her husband, Richard; and her beloved granddaughter, Julia Bunce.

Obituary Preview: Ms. Shirley J. Weber, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the MVHS St. Luke’s Campus.
Born in Syracuse on December 17, 1931, Shirley was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Meaney) Weber. She was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales Elementary School and Herkimer High School in 1949. Shirley went on to further her education at the College of St. Rose where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English.
She started her career at the New York Telephone Company in Utica and was transferred to the Albany office. Subsequently, she was promoted by the Telephone Company, which later became Verizon, to Training and Development at Corporate Headquarters in Manhattan, NY. Shirley was a resident of Manhattan for over 50 years. While in New York City, she enjoyed the theater, travel and dining out with friends.
Shirley was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer and later at Holy Family Church in Manhattan where she served as a volunteer.
Shirley is survived by two stepbrothers, David and Allen Miller and a cousin Mary Kay Root.
A Memorial Mass will be held in the spring of 2023 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer. Procession will follow to Calvary Cemetery where Shirley’s earthly remains will be laid to rest. Details will be announced at a later date.

Martin J. Smith - May 09, 1961 - January 21, 2023

Obituary Preview: MOHAWK - Martin J. Smith, 61, of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, at home, on January 21, 2023, with his loving family by his side. It is with great sorrow that we announce Marty's passing. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2018, he courageously explored every option and fought through every treatment with extraordinary strength and dignity.
Marty is survived by his loving wife Joan. They were joined in marriage in 1987. Born in Little Falls, NY, on May 9, 1961, Marty was the youngest son of Gordon and Claire Smith, of Jordanville.
Marty is also survived by his siblings: Christine (Gene) Corrigan, of Richfield Springs, Peter (Susan), of Delmar, Jay (Kathy), of Jordanville, John (Becky), of West Sand Lake, Moira (Lance) Yardley, of Oneida and Mary Ellen (Henry) Donohue, of Jordanville; brother-in-law, Patrick (Missy) Powers, of Poland; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Rob) Hollenbeck, of Barneveld and Lori Powers, of Newport.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by Mary and Peter Powers, Joan's parents; Joan's sisters, Linda Benton, of California and Carol Benton, of Cold Brook. In addition, Marty is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly. We all hold many cherished memories of the fun times with Marty. It wasn't a party without Marty.
Marty was the Facility Manager of Global, Inc., of Jordanville. He also worked for many years at Campione Water, Curtains and Fabrics and MDS, of Herkimer, where he made many friends. Marty was a lifelong Yankee fan who didn't like to miss a game. When you visited Marty and Joan's home, it was as if you stepped into a Yankee museum. Marty proudly wore Yankee regalia wherever he went. Marty was also a proud member of Utica Legion Post 229.
Friends are invited to celebrate Marty's life, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Thursday evening, January 26, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. Interment will be in the spring, at the convenience of the family.

George J. Rando - February 22, 1935 - January 17, 2023

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER – Mr. George J. Rando, age 87, a longtime Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2023, at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. At the time of his passing he had the love and blessings of his family in his heart.
Born on February 22, 1935, George was the son of the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Surace) Rando. He spent his childhood in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. Upon his graduation, George went on to serve in the United States Army overseas in Germany, receiving his honorable discharge on December 5, 1956.
Upon his return stateside, George continued to further his education, first at SUNY Buffalo where he received a BS in Art Education in 1962; after which he went on to the Yale School of Art, earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts and eventually his Master of Fine Arts.
George’s career was spent with the Greater Amsterdam School District where he held the position of Art Teacher for twenty-four years until his retirement. Subsequently, he was a life member of the New York State United Teachers Union.
As a well-read person in the area of art, George vastly appreciated the simple beauty of nature. He was an avid gardener who took pride in his flowerbeds and in his spare time he loved fishing and spending time at his camp on Canadarago Lake. He also kept his mind sharp as he aged and he enjoyed doing puzzles. He practiced his Roman Catholic faith at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer.
He is survived by his brother, John Rando of Herkimer; his sisters, Angela Piscitello of Utica and Adeline Gorea of Frankfort; his nephew, Jack (Lynnette) Tresoline; his nieces, Karin (John) Piseck, Sheri Ferdula and Patti Tresoline; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Alex Tresoline, AJ Tresoline, Ashley Tresoline, Mike (Hayley) Zipko, Jamie Zipko and Jake Ferdula; two aunts, Mary Gigliotti of Herkimer and Josephine (John) Iocovozzi of Florida; along with several cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Salvatore Rando, Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Charles J. Piscitello and John J. Gorea; and by his nephew, Anthony Tresoline, Jr.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend George’s funeral service which will commence on Saturday morning, January 21, 2023 at 11:00AM at Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church in Herkimer, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer where George will be laid to rest in the family plot.

Helen was born October 23, 1939, in Ilion, daughter to the late Harold Wheeler and Virginia Binney. She lived most of her life in Ilion and Herkimer.
Helen is survived by 4 of her children, Dianna Gannon, Tammy Chilluffo (Robert Stemmle), Sharon Seiber and Clifford Bluett; her grandchildren, Adaire (Donnie) Holtz-Lindsey, Vanessa Holtz, Renee Bluett, Nicole Bluett, TeJay (Kathryn) Chilluffo, Taylor Chilluffo (Mike Fahy) and Olivia Seiber; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Danford “Danny” Bluett; mother-in-law, Olive McGrade; foster parents, Oscar and Mary Lamphere; twin sisters, Jean Sabatino and Janet Harrington; beloved daughter, Michele Holtz; and her grandchildren, Sonia Zoeckler, Alfred Dygert and Leah Holtz.
Helen was a homemaker, caring day-in and day-out for her five children. She loved looking for a hot deal and could be found at any local garage sale, (for which the family is thankful she never discovered Facebook Marketplace). Helen was known amongst family as the epitome of class and the Ambassador of sass, with quick wit and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. She loved being a grandmother and loved her family like no other. She will be dearly missed.
Calling hours and Prayer Service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. A special Prayer Service will take place at 4:00 p.m., by Reverend Chris Wintermute. A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer when Helen can be laid to rest next to her beloved Danny, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.

Obituary Preview: ILION - Beverly Jean “Jeanie” Horton, age 84, of Cottage St., in Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on June 10, 1938, in Northville, New York, to George H. and Anna Mabel (Menges) Horton. She was the second of two children.
Jeanie had a love of anything soft and cuddly, especially cats and her stuffed animals. Jeanie loved to be warm and cozy and her favorite times were being snuggled up in her chair or bed watching “I Love Lucy” and other old shows and movies. She was at her happiest then.
Though Jeanie usually didn’t have much to say, when she did speak to you, she told you exactly what she thought. When she was happy with you there was lots of hugs, kisses and hand holding, but when she was not happy with you, she let you know that as well and sometimes that was without words. Jeanie was feisty and knew what she wanted and she kept everyone on their toes. She will always be remembered, always be loved and always sadly missed.
Jeanie is survived by one brother, George A. Horton, of Frostproof, Florida; and one cousin, Sue Brown, of Northville. She is also survived by her loving Arc Herkimer family, especially her loved ones at her Cottage St. home, in Ilion and her Day Program at S. Washington St., in Herkimer, who were there to surround her with love in her final days.
She is predeceased by her parents; and her long-time boyfriend, Ted Havens.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. A Service of Remembrance will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Then, interment will be alongside her family, at Salisbury Rural Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER – Mr. Robert B. Hart, Sr., age 84, of Eureka Avenue, entered into eternal rest, on Saturday morning, November 26, 2022, in the comfort of his private residence.
He was born on November 6, 1938, in Ilion, New York, a son of the late John F. and Blanche (DeLong) Hart. Bob was raised and educated in Ilion, a graduate of Ilion High School. On June 22, 1957, he married Linda L. Fauvelle, in the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion, a loving union of sixty-two years and she passed away August 29, 2019. Bob served our community as the Village of Herkimer Chief of Police with great honor.
First and fore-most in his life was his home and family. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed camping on 4th Lake, hunting and fishing. He was most proud of his Indian Heritage.
Surviving are his beloved family: his five children, Patricia Hart and her husband, Ron Johnson, of Herkimer, Robert Hart, Jr. and his wife, Lissette, of Latham, New York, Richard Hart and his wife, Christine, of Herkimer, John Hart and his wife, Heather, of Naples, Florida and Eric Hart, of Herkimer; grandchildren, Corey Adams, Andrew Oldfield, Andrea Hart, Lyndsay Fort, Devin Hart, Skylar Hart and Alicia Pasos; great-grandchildren, Haedyn Adams, Kaeli Ulatowski, Andrew Oldfield, Jr., Brylee Fort, Kenzie Fort and Lilly Fort; a great-great grandson, Lincoln Griffith; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Ronald and Roger Hart.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., in the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Joelle Faulks, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer/Little Falls, will officiate. Mr. Hart will then be laid to rest in the Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends, on Friday, December 2, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. All are invited to attend the services. We are grateful for the Herkimer Police Department, whose members will stand attentive at the casket throughout the calling hours and will serve as pall bearers as well. At 12:45 p.m., on Friday, there will be a walk-through passing the casket at the funeral home and this invitation is open to all enforcement agencies and personnel.

Obituary Preview: LITTLE FALLS - Mr. William L. “Bill” Singer, Jr., age 61 miraculous years, most recently of Little Falls, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born in Ilion, New York, on September 10, 1961, son of the late William L. Sr., and Phyllis (Jaquish) Singer. He was educated in Ilion schools and furthered his education in the culinary field. Bill was last employed as a chef with Chef Yeppi Presents, formerly Turbacks, Ithaca, New York. He was a life - long area resident.
Mr. Singer was a caring, loving and generous man who was respected by all who knew him. One of his favorite hobbies was the casino and he also loved hunting deer, fishing and eagles. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Bill was a walking blessing as we all know his lifelong heart problems. He had an overwhelming faith in God to the point whereas at times it would actually ‘frighten’ his lifelong partner, Cheryl. It was ever so powerful.
Survivors include his beloved family: his partner, Cheryl Martin; his children, Billy Singer, of Dolgeville, Bronson Singer, of Little Falls and Ashley Singer (Mainville), of Ithaca, New York. His grandchildren are Liam Singer, Michael Singer, Damen, Triston, Arhionna, Riley and Tucker. His brothers are Ricky Singer, of Richfield Springs and Mike Singer, of Ilion. There are also many other family members; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Obituary Preview: Gregory (Gregg) Viscomi passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29th, 2022, at the age of 74.
He is survived by his wife Diane Viscomi, son Thomas (Christine) Viscomi, daughter Tedra (Jason) Courtis, and son Ryan (Jennifer) Viscomi, along with five grandchildren, Max Courtis, Ellie Courtis, Makena Viscomi, Mason Viscomi, and Rocco Viscomi.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Minnie Viscomi.
Gregg was born June 19, 1948 in Herkimer, NY. He met Diane, née Huisinga, in 1969. They were married in Minnesota May 27, 1972. In 1977, Tom and Tedra were born in Herkimer, NY. A few years later, they moved to Rosemont, MN where Ryan was born in 1980. They relocated to St. Charles, MO in 1984.
Gregg held several jobs before retiring, and during retirement enjoyed working at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis. He was on the Parish Council and was an active and devoted member in faith at St. Cletus Church.
Gregg was known for his humor and silliness with all his grandchildren, which created special bonds with each one of them. He loved the casino, boating on the river, “fixing” things, and always would come when called “in a minute”. He was truly well loved by all that knew him, and most of all, he deeply loved his family who he treasured. He will be extremely missed by many friends and family.
Gregg’s visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 10:00AM – 11:00AM at the St. Cletus Catholic Church, 2705 Zumbehl Road, St. Charles MO 63301. His Funeral Mass will commence at the church at 11:00AM immediately upon the conclusion of visitation.

She passed away at Reedsburg Senior Life center with family by her side on October 27, 2022. She was united in marriage to David R. Harrington in November of 1965. The couple had enjoyed a blessed and devoted union of 42 years until David's passing.
She loved crocheting, watching her soaps, shopping, keeping up with family on social media and spending time with family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her everything.
Survivors include her children: Mary Egelston of Reedsburg, Wisconsin , Lisa Luchkiw of Colorado , and Warren Harrington of Indiana and his wife Erin Harrington ; her grandchildren: Brandy McCabe , Amanda Egelston , David Egelston, Addyson Harrington, Alexander Harrington, Catherine Harrington and great grandchildren; her sister Beatrice Shaddon; also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER – Our beautiful baby, Allison Rose Quayle, lived for a very short time, on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2022 and was born in the Town of New Hartford, New York, where we received tender loving care from the caregivers at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. We held her at her gentle weight of 5lbs.,4.6oz. and her 19-inch length. We are comforted to know she has passed through heaven’s gate as an angel.
Always and continually at her side are her mommy and daddy, Kayla Renee Leon and Cameron Brian Quayle, of Herkimer; her sister, Kiley Quayle; her maternal grandmother, Heather Leon LaPointe and grandfather, Heather’s husband, grandpa Bryan LaPointe, of Mohawk; her paternal grandmother, Melissa Quayle-Baker, of Ilion; her great-grandparents, Kathy and Wayne Johnston, of Ilion; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
Several of our beloved family members were there to greet Allison with open arms in heaven, who have previously passed away, inclusive to her maternal grandpa, Walter Leon; her paternal grandfather, Donald W. Quayle; paternal great-grandfather, Ronald Quayle; and great-great-grandparents, Katherine and Carl Johnston.
We have carefully planned a Funeral Service with loving intentions and thought, to be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, in Herkimer, New York, with Deacon Michael Carbone, officiating. Then, we will bring our angel on her final journey to Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion, New York, for her Interment Service. Joe had a lifelong passion for political activism. He encouraged many to use their voice and exercise their right to vote.
Joe was a lover of the outdoors and spent much of his time in the rivers and mountains enjoying the majestic beauty that they encompassed. A lifelong naturalist, Joe was passionate about fly fishing, fly tying, cycling, mountaineering, art and photography. He loved and respected all things wild. Joe’s love of the outdoors came second to the riches he found in his family and dear friends. Joe cherished moments shared with his nieces and nephews, Isaac, AJ, Lindsey, Levi, Luke, Matt, Tricia, Kristen and Daniel.

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER – Mr. Robert F. Rando, age 68, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Siegenthaler Center, Town of Kirkland, New York. We all affectionately remember him as Bob and Robbie, a great man of strength and character. He received wonderful compassionate attention from Hospice & Palliative Care, of which we are grateful.
He was born May 23, 1954, in Herkimer, New York, the son of the late Robert E. and Frances (Casale) Rando. Bob was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1973. Bob worked at Herkimer County Highway Department (Supervisor-Foreman), for over 31 years, before he retired and he was also giving of himself on a part time basis to the Bimlik Kennell, in Ilion, during that time. At one time, he was a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and just loved to have coffee with his family every day, especially at Otto’s. His love of Barb was evident and her “Robbie” cherished the way she cared for him for over 23 years.
Survivors include his fiancée, love and best friend, Barb Weber; his daughter, Alexandra Rando (Blake Arcuri), of Ilion; his grandchildren, Liam and Nora; his siblings, Maryann Rando, of Herkimer, Ken Rando and his wife, Gina, of Remsen, Jim Rando and his wife, Lorie, of Mohawk, Steve Rando and Bonnie Shaw, of Herkimer and George Rando and Steve Nickles, of Pennsylvania; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, especially an uncle, who was more like a dad, Tony Casale and his wife, Joyce, and cousins and friends, including John Rathbun. He is also survived by his in-laws, Elizabeth ‘Cissy’ Rando, Georgia Rando, Joe Sudakow, Lawrence Mason, Wesley Mason and his wife, Nadine and Luann and Dennis Mowers.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Frances Rando; brothers, Michael Rando and Kirk Rando; a sister, Linda Sudakow and a special brother-in-law, Thomas Mason.

Obituary Preview: HERKIMER - Dorothy Masle Preston, born in Little Falls, NY, on August 25, 1926, to Slovenian immigrant parents, Lawrence Masle and Johanna (Skof), died, at Little Falls Hospital, on August 23, 2022, having been a resident of Valley Residential Services. Dorothy graduated from Little Falls High School, the class of 1944, where she was a member of the Slovenian Hall. After the war, Dorothy wed Robert Preston, on May 19, 1951 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. They built their home on Steuben Hill in Herkimer NY, where they raised five children, Thomas (Val) Preston, Roberta (George Connell), Jane Preston (Alan Hipps), Lauren (Peter Gibbs) and Nancy (Theodore Wind). There was little about their home that did not express Dorothy. She poured her creativity into her flower gardens and attended to her “Victory Garden” of vegetables. She and Robert were happiest in the company of their friends and family. Her kitchen was a hearth, hosting dinners, laughter of charades with her grandchildren and the frequent hand of pitch. Many would look forward to her Christmas singalongs, always concluding with the perennial favorite, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.For Dorothy the world offered adventure. She loved history, traveling abroad and visiting museums. She was not satisfied with anything less for her children, imploring them ‘get off Steuben Hill’ to see the world. She is survived by her children, Roberta, Jane and Nancy; as well as grandchildren, Megan, Preston and Lauren Connell, Jacob and Robert Hipps, Thomas and Louise Gibbs and Dimitri Wind. She is also the great- grandmother to Mia and Jackson Kegel, Rhys and Lainey Connell, Ellie Castellano and Audrey and Gabriel Hipps. She is also survived by a sister, Emma Hart; and is predeceased by her sisters, Helen and Elsie, and brother, Clarence.There will be no calling hours, but a Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Francis de Sales Church, North Bellinger Street, in Herkimer, NY. Born in Ottumwa, Iowa on August 14, 2001, Faith is the daughter of Edward and Rebecca (Ilowiecki) Koloski. She grew up locally and was a 2019 graduate from OESJ Central Schools. For the past few years, Sissy was employed with the Deli Department at Herkimer Walmart; a position which brought her much joy through her interaction with fellow employees and customers alike. Faith was blessed to find love in Sean Bracken and the couple was truly inseparable. They lived together, worked together, laughed together and even though they only had a couple of years together on this earth, they managed to fit in a lifetime of memories. It is only fitting that they left this world together; a testament to their inseparable union. Faith was a loving, family oriented girl, with an infectious smile and a zest for life. She had a love for music and was at her happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten. She is survived by her doting parents, Rebecca and Edward Koloski of Oppenheim; her siblings, Savannah McFarland and Kai Koloski; her grandparents, Faith Ilowiecki, Raymond and Ling Koloski and Toni McFarland; her aunts and uncles, Lisa Koloski and Chip French, John and Cheryl Ilowiecki and Shawn King and Yvonne Conway; along with many cousins and good friends.
