Kelly Klinker - February 20, 1961 - January 01, 2021

Departed: 01/01/2021 (Little Falls)
Obituary Preview: Kelly Don Klinker, age 59 of Burnsville, MN passed away January 1, 2021 at his home during morning-coffee-time with Julie. He arrived at home Thursday afternoon to savor his final day surrounded by family and friends. We celebrated New Year’s Eve with Aly reading BC comics and New Year’s Day morning coffee with Cam swabbing coffee from the Yeti cup to her Dad and playing clarinet for him. Originally from Little Falls, MN, formerly of Warroad, MN. Forever loved by his wife and fishing partner of 34 years, Julie (Maslowski) Klinker, daughters, Aly (Dan) Hufnagle and Camryn Klinker. Parents Don and Jan Klinker of Little Falls. Brothers, Ron (Mary) Klinker of Little Falls, Barclay (Robyn) Klinker of Hutchinson. Number one grandson, Hudson Hufnagle and Puck his trusty black Lab. 16 nieces and nephews. And many, many fishing buddies. Kelly enjoyed summers at “the boat” at Uncle Kelly’s Fish Camp in Two Rivers, WI on Lake Michigan sharing his love of salmon fishing with friends and family and enjoying the camaraderie of the Seagull Marina residents. He graduated in 1979 from Little Falls Community High School where he played basketball, football and track. He then completed a 2-year small gas engine mechanic program at Brainerd Vo-tech and worked as a mechanic for a few years at LF Lawn and Sports. After a winters of little snow and a dip in snowmobiles to set up or repair. On the good guidance of Uncle Ken, he became an orderly. He then commuted/carpool with 5 other ladies from Little Falls to the LPN program in Brainerd for one-year to earn his LPN nursing license. Fittingly, he was hired by families to provide live-in-24-hour-in-home-end-of-life care where he provided health care and solid, steady assurance for patients and their families. He was hired by multiple families for his services. He was a nurse at St. Gabriel’s Hospital ER and med-surg, St. Otto’s Care Center and enjoyed playing pool with the residents after hours, absorbing their wisdom and sharing stories. Kelly and his new bride, Julie moved to Warroad in 1986 to Lake of the Woods and Marvin Windows. They lived in an A-frame cottage and loved hosting family and friends for fishing, blueberry picking, parades and enjoying Warroad-life. Kelly worked at Marvin in manufacturing, customer service, sales and the loading dock for 10 years. He was a member of the volunteer firefighter & rescue in Warroad, Member and President of the Warroad Lions, and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fittingly Kelly donated his corneas to Lions Gift of Sight which will be used to restore sight for one to two people (check that donor box at license renewal time if you wish) or used for research or medical procedures. Kelly, Julie and Alyson moved to Burnsville in 1996. He worked in the sporting goods department at Fleet Farm in Lakeville where he was a natural with his wealth of hunting and fishing experience. He worked at Inthermo in Lakeville for many years as the shop manager. Semi-retiring in 2004, to be a stay-at-home/boat with Camryn. He spent early, dew-fill summer mornings mowing with the golf course grounds crew at Brackett’s Crossing in Lakeville and winter as a Zamboni driver at Ames and Hasse Arenas in Lakeville for 14 year. His most important role and a role that he aced is being a Dad to Alyson and Camryn and Pops to Hudson. During his 3-day hospital stay this past week, a newly-engaged nurse asked him for marriage advice. He replied, “Have a good time.” Julie, Aly and Camryn ask that you hold your loved ones close and take the fishing trip. Share your favorite “Kelly story” with his family ( realistic embellishments only please! ) to a remembrance gathering at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Home in Little Falls on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 2:30-4:30 pm.

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother Loretta “Lori” Gustafson, age 87, on November 15, 2020 at Country Manor in Sartell, MN, having previously resided at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls, MN. Loretta was born in Lastrup, MN, to the late Alex and Loretta (Nagel) Gross. Lori was nicknamed “Sis” by her siblings and relatives.
As a teenager, Lori worked at The Black & White in Little Falls, MN. In the 1950’s it was just a small hamburger joint. She also enjoyed babysitting and helping her Aunt Helen (Nagel-LeBlanc) Hamrick on the farm. Lori was recruited from high school by the FBI and worked in Washington, DC, where she met her future sister-in-law, Dorothy, and shared an apartment. The highlight of her career was meeting J. Edgar Hoover at his private elevator that she accidently tried to use after only a few days on the job. Lori married her Little Falls High School sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Gustafson, who she affectionately called “Boop”. Bob preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother Arthur Gross, sister Ardeth (Gross) Allmon and husband Joe, sister-in-law Mary (Gustafson) Boisjolie and husband Jack, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Evear and Hedwig “Hattie” (Sobiech) Gustafson.

She kept an immaculate house, loved to bake and was highly skilled in sewing. Lori was a very proud band parent of her 4-G’s trumpeters volunteering to work the concession stands at the football games and enthusiastically attending all the parades the PHS Band marched in from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, Miss America Beauty Pageant in Atlantic City to the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, DC. As her children grew older, Lori returned to the workforce. In NJ she worked at Sears Service Center in Pennsauken, at the Cinnaminson Senior Home, and with the Palmyra Public Schools assisting teachers. She volunteered at Sacred Heart Church in Riverton and Our Lady Star of the Sea in Cape May where she also served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. After the passing of her beloved husband, Lori moved to Des Moines, IA, close to her brother Alex and sister-in-law Connie, where she worked at a Day Care For Exceptional Children. Lori was very caring and compassionate and very much loved by the children as well as the staff. Next, Lori moved to Cape May, NJ, where she and her husband used to love to go fishing and walking on the beach. She made many friends there and everywhere she went. From Cape May Lori moved back to Little Falls, MN, where her life began. Lori had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh with her quick wit.

Sister Mary Fabian Schneider - July 10, 1915 - November 11, 2020

Departed: 11/11/2020 (Little Falls)
Obituary Preview: Little Falls, Minnesota............Sister Mary Fabian (Pelagia) Schneider, 105, died on November 11, 2020, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn.
Pelagia was born on July 10, 1915, near Swanville, Minn. She was soon known as “Polly” by her siblings. She was the fifth of 12 children born to the late John and Helen (Kuklock) Schneider. Polly, following her older sibling Sister Mary Eugenia, was accepted as a Franciscan Sister on August 10, 1934 and received the name, Sister Mary Fabian. She was a Franciscan Sister for 86 years.
Sister Fabian was a gentle, hospitable and gracious woman and sister, and she exhibited these gifts throughout her many years of ministry. She had a very deep prayer life and was always mindful of God’s love for her. When she celebrated her 75th Jubilee she summed up her life by saying: “God who is mighty has done great things for me.” Some of Sister Fabian’s favorite pastimes included listening to classical music, embroidery and baking for the sisters with whom she lived. In her younger years she enjoyed chauffeuring sisters.
Sister Fabian’s ministries were carried out by caring for the elderly at St. Otto’s Home. A big surprise came to her when she was asked to go on night duty at the St. Cloud Orphanage! At the same time the “Foley Catechetical Plan” was being introduced into the diocese. Sister Fabian wholeheartedly put herself into this new endeavor as she ministered in nine different parishes in the diocese. Along with her friend, Sister Jeremia Trutwin, she was asked to serve as a cook and housekeeper for Bishop Bartholome. This was an awesome and intrepid task and it included preparing meals for visiting bishops and clergy. Both Sisters Fabian and Jeremiah served in this capacity for 16 years, giving their best out of love and service.
Beginning in 1982, Sister Fabian ministered as a receptionist at St. Francis Convent. She did this for 32 years. At this time she lived at Flensburg helping as a religion teacher, choir member enjoying the singing of Polish hymns, a visitor to shut-ins and assisted her sisters with the household tasks. Because of ill health, Sister Fabian retired to St. Francis Convent in January of 2014.
Sister Fabian was preceded in death by siblings Angeline Boros, Stanley, Florence Schlumpberger, Sister Mary Eugenia, OSF, Bernard, Aloise, Alphonse, Gerard, Peter, Edward and Arlyce. Survivors include nieces, nephews and her Franciscan Community.
A private burial service was held on November 13, 2020. A memorial mass will be held at a later date with family and friends. Donations to Franciscan Sisters ministries preferred.

Gerald Roscoe - March 22, 1942 - October 16, 2020

Departed: 10/16/2020 (Little Falls)
Obituary Preview: “Jerry” Gerald James Roscoe, of Onamia, Minnesota passed away on October 16, 2020 at age 78.
Jerry was born on March 22, 1942 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Joseph Roscoe and Lorraine (Young).  His step dad was Wayne Williams, whom he called father.  He graduated from Onamia High School in 1960.  On January 25, 1964 he married Janet Joan Branger in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He met Janet at Krafve's gas station in Hillman, Minnesota in 1961 as her parents had a cabin on Platte Lake; and both were smitten with each other.  They shared 56 years of a loving and memorable marriage together.  They lived in St. Anthony Village for 25 years and raised two children together, Vicki and Allen.  Jerry retired in 2002 from Eaton Corporation where he worked for over 40 years.  Jerry and Janet moved north to their beautiful wooded land outside of Brainerd in 2002 which he fondly named “Roscoe’s Roost,” as Jerry was counting the days to get out of the city and back to the country.
Jerry was a fighter. He suffered a major stroke in February 2003, which he overcame.  He was resilient and relentless, and nothing was going to get in his way to enjoy life.
Jerry loved everything outdoors.  From hunting and fishing, to cutting and chopping his own wood to burn in his fireplace, to woodworking and anything he could creatively make with his hands, to building his own massive winding logging trails on his land with his tractor and other big toys, near where he grew up.  He loved to watch all the wildlife every day that would walk up his long pine tree lined driveway (which he had planted every tree by hand) and reach the center of his yard, including deer, bunnies, bear, fox, turkeys, and more.  He was their favorite fan because every day he made it a point to make sure they didn’t go hungry, feeding them corn and other animal treats.  He chopped his own wood and enjoyed a trip out in the woods on his logging trails with his gator the day he passed. Jerry also loved people.  A truly amazing individual, he was always looking out for and helping others.  His pride and joy were spending time with his family and many dear friends.  He was kind, generous and had a sense of humor that made everyone laugh and smile.  He taught his kids so many life skills, with the most important being respecting others.  He encouraged them to work hard but always enjoy each day to the fullest.  He was also known for a bit (or a lot) of sarcasm, just to keep everyone on their toes!
Jerry is survived by his wife, Janet Roscoe and daughter, Vicki Roscoe Erickson and her husband Chad Erickson and son, Allen Roscoe and brother, Leonard (Swede) Roscoe and his wife Lois, and sister, Patsy Schmaltz and her husband Rodney and step brothers, Rick Williams and Doug Williams.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Roscoe and Lorraine Williams, his step father, Wayne Williams, and step brother, Don Williams, and his beloved “Goldies” (yellow labs).
Jerry was cremated. A celebration of life service will be held in spring/summer of 2021.
He is going to be deeply missed by Janet, Vicki and Allen, family, friends and all that crossed his path.

A funeral typically involves the presence of the deceased's body, while a memorial service takes place without the body present. Memorial services are often held after cremation or when the body has been buried elsewhere.

How do I cope with grief after losing a loved one?

Grief is a unique and individual experience. Allow yourself time to process your emotions, seek support from friends, family, or counseling services if needed, and consider joining a support group for bereaved individuals.

Are there any resources available for writing an obituary?

Yes, many funeral homes and online platforms offer resources and templates for writing an obituary. You can also consult with a professional writer or seek guidance from friends and family members who have written obituaries in the past.
