David Neil Worcester - March 31, 1973 - April 11, 2024

Departed: 04/11/2024 (Ellsworth)
Obituary Preview: Lamoine
David N. Worcester and his faithful black lab, Macy, died together in a tragic car accident on April 11, 2024. He was the son of David F. and Elizabeth L. (Derochers) Worcester and was born in Portland, Maine on March 31, 1973. Dave grew up in Brewer and graduated from Brewer High School in 1991.
For two decades, he proudly ran his business, Dave’s Glass, and has put countless windshields in vehicles and made many custom glass and mirror pieces. His favorite projects were installing boat windows in lobster boats up and down the coast of Maine. He considered every customer a friend and never turned down the chance to hear another great fishing story told by those lobstermen.
Dave was drawn to the magic of the “Outdoors” from an early age and that passion stayed with him always. That boy loved to hunt, fish and trap! His introduction to these pastimes came from his father, who was well known in the Brewer area for his salmon fishing and fly tying. From the time Dave was a toddler, he was ice fishing, waiting for that flag to pop up and the rest is history. Watching Dave fly fishing for brookies was mesmerizing and many summers were spent on Moosehead Lake with Lisa and the boys where he taught them how to cast a rod and reel and troll until they had a fish on. November brought deer, moose, and partridge hunting and the chance to go trapping. He also loved being on the water, fishing for lobster, pogies, and halibut with Duncan and Blake. In 2015, Dave made a dream come true when he took a trip of a lifetime with friends and went trout fishing in Labrador, Canada where he hooked a 9.9 pound brookie! No matter the season, there was a reason for Dave to be in the
outdoors that he loved so much.
The camp that Dave, Mike, and Ron built at Snowshoe Pond was his pride and joy. Camp was a place of peace for Dave, time spent with family, friends, and beloved pets. A place where good meals and better stories were shared, where the laughter was endless, and the shenanigans remain secrets. Snowshoe Pond was a place where he could reflect on what meant the most to him in life and he was grateful for all of it.
Dave is survived by his mother, Elizabeth L. Worcester of Woburn, MA; his longtime love of 26 years, Lisa McGlothlin of Lamoine; her two sons (whom he thought of as his own), Duncan Haass (Haley Estabrook), and Blake Haass (Katey Haass), and their son, Luca, all of Lamoine; his sister, Lisa (Worcester) Dutton (Alan Dutton), their daughters, Zoey and Ella, all of Rock Hill, South Carolina; his best friend and “brother from another mother”, Michael Treat and his wife Kathy of Carmel; his bonus parents Ronald and Sheridan Treat of Holden; many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, David F. Worcester, and the first dog he ever had, Jake.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Dave at The Elks Lodge in Ellsworth on Sunday, May 19th at 4:30p.m. Please come and share stories about this incredible man who meant so much to so many. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St. Ellsworth Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com

Holly Duesenberry - June 14, 1952 - April 05, 2024

Departed: 04/05/2024 (Ellsworth)
Obituary Preview: Gouldsboro
Holly Duesenberry, 71, died suddenly at home April 5, 2024. She was born in Boston to James S. and Margaret H. (Torbert) Duesenberry on June 14, 1952.
Her childhood included much classical music at home, as well as a parade of pets. Those two interests returned in adult life as Holly became a small farmer in Gouldsboro, raising sheep and chickens as well as pet cats and a series of rescue dogs, most recently her much beloved dog Sunny. Her interest in gardening was first sparked by her grandfather J. Keith Torbert, who loved to grow roses but also created a Victory Garden during World War 2.
Holly’s move to Maine in the 1990s brought her much healing after a long period of problems with addiction. She was much involved in AA and later became a substance abuse counsellor, eventually studying for an MA in Social Work. At home, she worked to bring her old farmhouse back to life and was about halfway through that project at the time she died. Whether it was sanding and painting, or installing solar panels and heat pumps, Holly got much joy from this work. Especially after retirement from social work, Holly also became involved in community music organizations, at first somewhat bemused to find herself singing tenor parts in the chorus but enjoying it immensely.
For the Town of Gouldsboro, Holly became more involved in town projects after becoming upset by the ending of recycling facilities: she had a strong desire to find solutions. She served on the town Solid Waste Committee, the Comprehensive Planning Committee, and was involved in the recent efforts to stop possible wreckage of nearby coastal waters by a proposed salmon fishery. She also volunteered at the local library and was a dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteer.
Holly is survived by one sister, Peggy Duesenberry, and by four nieces and nephews: Ginger Mermer, James H. Duesenberry, Sara Helen Binney, and Kieran Binney.

Altina “Tina” Frost Salzarulo, 99, died January 4, 2024, at Seaport Village in Ellsworth, just 21 days shy of her 100th birthday. She was born on January 26, 1924, in Alexander, Maine, the daughter of Justin M. and Inez E. (Lehan) Frost.
Tina graduated from Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, Maine. She worked for Southern New England Telephone in Connecticut for over 30 years. Tina lived in Farmington, Connecticut for 40 years before moving back to Maine making her home in Surry.

Most days you could find Tina in her kitchen making one of her “famous” pies for the Grange, her homemade sauce and pasta for family dinner, or her delicious pancakes for her great-grandchildren.
Tina was passionate about watching sports, especially the Red Sox and UCONN Women's basketball.
What mattered most to Tina was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and “Auntie.” No one was better at these roles than she. For those lucky enough to know her, they always felt her love, no matter the distance or time that had passed. This love is her legacy.
She is survived by two sons: Douglas Salzarulo, Boston MA, Dane Salzarulo and his wife Julie, Farmington, CT. Her granddaughter, Bethany Salzarulo, Carlisle, Pa, two great grandchildren, Sofia and Dane, Carlisle, Pa and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Adam Salzarulo.
