Margaret E Edwards - February 15, 1928 - October 27, 2019

Departed: 10/27/2019 (Baltimore)
Obituary Preview: Margaret Elizabeth Edwards, daughter of the late Nettie Thornton Jones and Joseph Leon Jones was born February 15, 1928, the eldest of 10 children.  She was confirmed at age 12 at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church and continued as an active member until her recent illness.
As a teenager Margaret worked at Johns Hopkins and Sinai Hospitals. She was married to the late Rossie Ernest Edwards, Sr. in 1946 and they had four children.  She worked at City Hospital 1950-1958 and attended evening courses at Dunbar High School and received her diploma in 1958.  This determined lady then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Practical Nursing in 1959 and worked there several years before launching a nursing career with the Visiting Nurses Association from 1968-1990 as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Region 2.
Margaret was the Matriarch of the family and was one of the founders of the Goldston Dynasty Unlimited (GDU) Incorporated established in 1985. She was the first GDU treasurer and event planner. She enjoyed family functions, playing cards, bowling, dancing, dinner theaters, (she was a fundraiser advocate of the Arena Players Inc. of Baltimore for over 30 years), and taking trips with her road buddy, Mr. Harry Martin. Her favorite destinations were Africa and London. She loved baking cookies, pies, and delicious rum soaked fruit cakes, and yes, she could turn anything into to fine wine as she was a wine maker also. She was a very stylist lady. Red was her color. Oh how she loved receiving special packages filled with the latest style sneakers and outfits from her niece, Kim Artis from New York. If it was red she wanted it. The funniest thing ever, in her later years, she purchased a little red car with chrome spinning wheel covers.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory; Daughter, Patricia Tracey (Tyrone), Son, Dennis Edwards, Grandchildren; Darlene Mitchell-Brown, Rossie Ernest Edwards, III, Mark Anthony Edwards, Maya Watkins; Great grandchildren; Candice Brown, Coya Brown; Siblings: Madelaide “Maddie” Williams, Lawrence Jones (Betty), Irene Adams (Earl), Edith Brown (Godfrey), Nettie Plessy (Antoine), and Gregory Jones (Caurletta). Preceding her in death included son, Rossie Ernest Edwards, Jr.; brothers, Joseph Jones and Richard Jones, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
