Obituary Preview: Amy (Yarger) Hill, age 52, of Mowrystown, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at her home after battling with cancer.      She was born March 18, 1970 in Georgetown, Ohio daughter of the late Clarence Christopher and Mary Marlene (Overstake) Yarger .    Amy was a 1989 graduate of Whiteoak High School. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.    Surviving are her three children, Christian Hill, Chandra Hill, and Brianna Hill, all of Mowrystown, two sisters, Mona Lisa (David) Crone and Tracy Dietmeyer both of Mowrystown, brother, Rusty (Casey) Yarger of Mowrystown, four nieces, Jodelle (Hank) Dean, Ashley Crone, Desiree Dietmeyer, and Mickenzie Scott, nephew, Christopher Yarger, great-nephew, Austin Mintz, great-niece, Larkin Dean, and a step-son, Brandon Hill.    In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her great-niece, Brooklyn Jean Owens.    Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Mowrystown Cemetery, Fenwick Road Mowrystown with Pastor Chris Gobin officiating.

Obituary Preview: Brian K. McLain, age 45, of Sardinia, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, April 16, 2022 at his home.      He was born January 18, 1977 in Georgetown, Ohio, son of Louis Edward "Ed" McLain and Wanda Kay (Duffey) McLain.   Brian was employed by Boyce Construction for 15 years. He took pride in his specialty of doing drywall repairs. Brian was very skilled in the trade.    Brian had two sons, Dylan McLain and Tyler McLain, both of Sardinia. Brian loved his boys more than anything else. He enjoyed taking them with him to do side jobs and teaching them his construction knowledge. They enjoyed going fishing and spending time together. Surviving is his longtime companion, Rachel Kirby of Sardinia, mother Wanda McLain of Sardinia, brother, Rob (Joni) McLain of Mt. Orab, two sisters, Tracy (Adam) Jodrey of Georgetown and Cassie Dean. Brian also leaves behind his three nieces, Jackie and Maddie Jodrey and Sara McLain, two nephews, Gage McLain and Kyle Dean, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.    Brian was preceded in death by his father, Ed McLain and grandparents, Bill and Evelyn (Sullivan) Duffey and Clarence and Margaret McLain.    Funeral Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, 17 E. Main St. Mowrystown, Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brett Parker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sardinia Cemetery.    Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Obituary Preview: Stella Marie Harris, age 88, of Gath, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, April 10, 2022 at The Anderson Nursing and Rehab in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was born July 21, 1933 in Greenup County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Hansford Thomas Maxie and Tobitha Duncan Maxie. On August 25, 1947 she married Carl R. Harris, who passed away on January 25, 2015.
She was a member of Buford Church of Christ.
Surviving are her 7 children; Shirley Klein of Cincinnati, Sally (Bill) Wilmoth of Xenia, Richard (Donna) Harris of Winchester, Sharon Harris of Sabina, Sherry (Burt) Connell of Westerville, Sunita (Mark) Pierson of Lynchburg, and Shawnee (Tyson) Smaltz of Sabina, 17 grandchildren; Robert (Fran) Klein, Kelly (Trini) Cruz, Karen Klein, Will (Mary) Wilmoth, Joni (Kyle) Lambcke, Carl Lee Harris, Burt (Kayleigh) Connell, Amanda Connell, Anna Connell, Aimee Connell, Ashley Connell, Devin (Marissa) Pierson, Damin Pierson, Dylin Pierson, Braydon Bailey, Alaynee Bailey, and Tatum Smaltz, 9 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by siblings – George Maxie, Charles Maxie, Homer Maxie, Anna Brown, Audrey Sykes and Sarah Sexton.
Carl and Marie had a lifelong love and marriage that lasted 67 years. They were committed to each other and their family.  Even after Carl’s passing, Marie’s heart still belonged to him.
Marie enjoyed sharing stories from her childhood in Kentucky; how she met her beloved husband, Carl; their time running the family grocery store and television business; and the pride they had for their family.
The children now share a few memories – Mom’s daily reading of the Bible and providing her family with a firm foundation of faith; demonstrating community service by assisting with the preparation of food for church events; fun times around the table playing card games; her giving heart for those going through difficult times; providing an in-home library and promoting the spirit of life-long learning; how she sheltered children from inappropriate scenes on television; and the way she would lose herself in laughter when entertaining friends in their home.  Mom enjoyed watching westerns, especially with her grandchildren; her favorite western stars were Randolph Scott and Audie Murphy.  She had such a love of country and an appreciation of the military for protecting our freedoms.
Funeral Services will be held at Buford Church of Christ, 2457 St. Rt. 138 Buford, Ohio, Friday, April 15, 2022 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Dan Lang officiating.  Interment will follow in the Buford Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Buford Church of Christ from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, just prior to the funeral service.

Obituary Preview: Opie Ryan Charles Eichhorn, age 4 months and 14 days, passed away on March 15, 2022 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in the loving embrace of his parents arms.      He was born November 1, 2021 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of Richard William Eichhorn and Danielle Leigh (Booth) Eichhorn, who survive in Mowrystown.    In addition to his parents, Opie is survived by his two brothers, Zayden and Killian Eichhorn, maternal grandparents, Phyllis and Jeff Crone, maternal grandfather, Kevin Mosely, paternal grandparents, Harland and Myrna Eichhorn, aunts and uncles, Ryan (Samantha) Hite, Katie Crone, Brittany Eichhorn, Nathan (Lindsey) Centers, Earl (Robin) Centers, Amanda (Ed) Metzger, and Zac (Marci) Metcalfe, many great-grandparents, cousins, great-aunts, and great-uncles, and special family friends, Ruth Ann Strange, Kimberly Mullins, and Kayla Henderson.    Opie was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Danny Hoskins, maternal great-grandparents, Larry and Jackie Reeves and Penny Mosely, paternal great-grandmother, Ida Latchford, and paternal great-uncle, Charles Latchford.    Private Funeral Services for the family will be held at the Mowrystown Church of Christ Community Building, Monday, March 21, 2022 following the visitation with Pastor Chris Gobin officiating. James "Jim" Lewis - October 30, 1935 - February 12, 2022

Obituary Preview: James A. "Jim" Lewis, age 86, of Marathon formerly of Mowrystown, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022.      He was born October 30, 1935 in Mowrystown, Ohio, son of the late Arthur Lewis and Ruth Naylor Lewis. Jim grew up in Mowrystown.    Jim was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Korea and a U. S. Air Force Veteran and was also in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was proud to be a Veteran and was one of the first to stand when hearing "God Bless The USA" by Lee Greenwood. He belonged to the Mowrystown American Legion and Clermont Co. DAV. He retired from Keebler Cookie Company. Jim was the former Chief of the Mowrystown Fire Department, a Little League baseball coach and coached the Georgetown Fire Department softball team. He was also a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Newtonsville, Ohio.
An outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and watching the birds at his many feeders. Besides his travels in the Military he took trips all over the United States, as well as going on an Alaska cruise.
Besides his parents Jim was preceded in death by a brother Gerald "Jerry" and a sister-in-law Reva Lewis, sister Marge and brother-in-law Charles "Ron" Hughes, and a granddaughter, Toria Lee.    Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Wolf they were together 36 wonderful years, children, Anna Gullett of Mowrystown, James "Cricket" (Lisa) Lewis Jr. of Georgetown, Richard (Nancy) Lewis Fayettville, Sheila Albright of Williamsburg, Kenneth "J.R." Wolf Jr. of Riverview, FL, and Nickelle Lewis of Georgetown. Jim also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, plus many others who knew him as "Dad" and "Papaw".
Jim enjoyed life and never went on a trip without meeting an old friend or making a new one.    Funeral Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, 17. E. Main St. Mowrystown, Friday, February 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Josh Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery, Mowrystown, Ohio where the Highland County Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct full military honors..    Friends will be received at Edgington Funeral Home on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.    Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Grace Baptist Church of Newtonsville, 2696 OH-131, Batavia, OH 45103 or to The Mowrystown Cemetery Association.

Robert "Bob" Greene Sr. - March 24, 1933 - February 12, 2022

Obituary Preview: Robert "Bob"  Greene, age 88, of Winchester, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at his home.      He was born March 24, 1933 in Somerset, Kentucky. Bob graduated from Central Vocational School, an all boy school in 1951. In 1953 Bob married his wife Joan (Wood) Greene. Shortly after marrying Joan he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.
Bob was a loyal Husband, Father, Businessman and Farmer. He started Hillsboro Aero Testing in 1985. Today it is Standard Aero where several of his family members are still employed.    He was a member of the Mowrystown Church of Christ and the Mowrystown American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, spent most of his time woodworking but most of all enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and family.    Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years Joan (Wood) Greene, sister Shirley (Burnett) Lucas, four children, Karen (Jim) Schroeder, Rob (Julie) Greene, Brenda (John) Dailey and Mark (Lannae`) Greene. He had 14 Grandchildren, Deanna (Matt) Risner, Charlie (Bren) Knauff, Kimberly (Chad) Vance, Sarah (Kenny) Barnes, Kellie Greene, Seth (Becca) Greene, Jessie Greene, Jessica (Nick) Dailey, Kelsey (Dan) Flaherty, Kaitlyn  Lehman, Kody (Lorin) Lehman, Lauren Greene, Alex Greene, & Kaisy (Dan) Brandenburg and 19 Great Grandchildren.    He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy, a sister, Dorothy Roush and his parents Albert and Thelma Greene.    Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Mowrystown Church of Chrsit on Friday, February 18, 2022 with Pastor Chris Gobin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery, where the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.

Shirley E. Eyre - April 12, 1936 - January 31, 2022

Obituary Preview: Shirley Eleanor Redkey Eyre, 85, of Sherman, Illinois formerly of the Mowrystown Community went to her Heavenly home in the early hours on Monday, January 31, 2022 peacefully with her daughter by her side. Shirley was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1936 in Highland County Ohio to Virgil L. and Mildred Margene Austin Redkey. Shirley was a loving, caring woman who always gave of her time to others. Shirley met the love of her life on Easter Sunday 1957 in Hillsboro, Ohio. Marvin and she fell in love instantly. They were married May 3, 1958 at the Mowrsytown Church of Christ by James Garret and honeymooned in Niagara Falls. Shirley was a member of the Mowrystown Church of Christ for many years where she served alongside her husband. She also was a member of the Highland County Auxiliary Peach Twig with many years of enjoyment. As a mother and grandmother, she was always very caring, loving and kind and always welcomed the little ones into her home with homemade cookies and treats, and spoiling them with her love and hugs. In her free time she loved being with her husband of 62 wonderful years, her daughter and grandchildren, family and friends. She loved going to church, listening to country music, and traveling. Shirley was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, an employee of the Farmers and Traders Bank of Hillsboro, Ohio and then became a stay-at-home mom in 1959. Upon her and Marvin’s marriage she became a farmer’s wife which required helping on the farm when needed, even if it meant having baby piglets in her kitchen in a basket by the heater to warm them for a few hours before Marvin would take them back to the farrowing barn. She was a caregiver for whatever her husband needed her to be. Everyone knew Shirley was famous for preparing many country meals, homemade noodles, homemade pies, and home cured country ham. Being a farmer’s wife of 62 years she always fulfilled her role in Blue-Ribbon style. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, son in law, granddaughters and her great grandchildren, who adorned her with all their love.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jo (Lyle) Flach of Sherman, IL. Two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Benjamin) Burkard of Hillsboro, OH. Ashley (Steven) Dennis of Sherman, IL. Seven great grandsons: Noah, Landan, Logan, Cameron, Braydon, Ashton, and Ryan and two great granddaughters: Brielle and Danielle; and sister in laws Verna Eyre Burnett, Lucille Eyre and Linda Lou Eyre and several nieces, a nephew and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin W. Eyre and her parents Virgil Redkey and Mildred Redkey Burton, Stepfather Rodney Burton and step brother Robert Burton.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 11, 2022 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at the Mowrystown Church of Christ, 28 W. Main St. Mowrystown, with a celebration of life on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mowrsytown Church of Christ with Pastors Chris Gobin and John Byard officiating. Burial following at Mowrystown Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Rodger Hugh Roberts, age 89 passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Ohio Valley Manor.      He was born May 12, 1932 in Highland County, OH, son of the late Carey R. Roberts and Katharine Harshbarger Roberts.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a hard working, self made business man starting his underground utility company in 1954. Rodger enjoyed his farm, raising cattle, was a private pilot, enjoyed flying and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Walker and his late wife Phyllis Yochum.    Surviving are two sons, Randy Roberts and Tim Roberts of the Sugartree Ridge Community. Also surviving are step-sons, Kent (Jill) Yochum and Kelly (Wendy) Yochum, grandchildren, Andy (Christy) Roberts, Mandy (Dave) Kiley, step-grandchildren, Laura Yochum and Kurt Yochum. Other survivors include his great grandchildren, Aubrey & Claire Roberts and Jesstin, Kaleb, & Allison Kiley.    Visitation will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, Mowrystown, Ohio Monday, January 31, 2022 10:00 am - 11:00 am followed by private graveside services with Wayne Edingfield officiating in the Roberts Cemetery. The Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.

Obituary Preview: Charles David Wilson, age 80, of Mowrystown, Ohio, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at his home.      He was born November 9, 1941 in Highland County, Ohio, son of the late Floyd Elmer Wilson and Velma Ermaline (Shumaker) Wilson. On July 20, 1960 in Sardinia, he married Wilma Jean (DeHaas) Wilson, who passed away on March 14, 2019.   Charles was a member of member of the Northside Church of Christ and was an avid model train enthusiast.    Surviving are his four daughters, Bobbi (Jack) Estle of Amelia, Linda (Jeff) Robinson of Mt. Orab, Sharon (Walter Gooldin) Eldridge of Mt. Obituary Preview: Karen Steele, age 82, of Seaman, formerly of Peebles, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 21, 2021 at Monarch Meadows Nursing Home in Seaman.      She was born October 17, 1939 in Brown County, Ohio, daughter of the late Donald Earl Klein and Clarice Margaret Roush Klein.    Karen was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sardinia, where she served as the treasurer for many years.    Surviving are son, Wayne (Linda) Steele of Peebles, OH, daughter, Rachelle (Brad Elam) Steele of Hillsboro, 5 Grandchildren, Jeffrey Steele, Shannon Crothers, Justin Steele, Christopher Stapleton and Devin Robinson, seven great-grandchildren and her sister, Doris (Ralph) Roades.    In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Steele and a brother Eddie Klein.    Funeral Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, 17 E. Doodle was a member of the Mowrystown Church of Christ and the Mowrystown Cemetery Board of Trustees, where he served as the cemetery sexton for many years. He was a longtime associate with Edgington Funeral Homes and owned and operated Stivers Mowing in Mowrystown for many years, mowing residential, businesses, and cemeteries.    Surviving are his two daughters, Gayla Renee Stivers and Tara Renee Stivers both of Mowrystown, four grandchildren, Paige Renee Hardyman, Taylor Renee Hardyman, Zachary Robert Franklin Hardyman, and Gabrielle Renee Laurine Stivers, four great-grandchildren, Bentley, Jaxon, and Cameron Blanton and Hudson Robert Lee Hardyman, brother, Bob Stivers, sister, Bonnie Lou Evans, and several nieces and nephews.    In addition to his wife, Doodle was preceded in death by his father, Francis L Stivers, grandmother, Elzie Minnie Stivers, and two brothers, Howard and Bill Stivers.    Funeral Services will be held at Mowrystown Church of Christ, 28 W.
