Obituary Preview: Larry Douglas Akers, age 75 of Manitou Beach passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Larry was born November 7, 1946, to Andy and Clara (Williams) Akers, in Herold, Kentucky. Larry proudly served his county in the United States Army in the Vietnam War from December 1965 – December 1972. He married the love of his live Vickey Sue Brown, August 28, 1965, in Manitou Beach, and she survives.Larry worked for Tecumseh Products. He was a member of the American Legion Post 530 in Onsted, Michigan. He loved going to the Casinos especially, Firekeepers and Soaring Eagle. He enjoyed fishing and repairing items especially small engines and cars. Larry had a Big Heart and took PRIDE in helping people. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, especially giving marshmallows to his great-grandchilden.Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Christopher Akers, Manitou Beach, daughters, Angela (James) Pickford, Manitou Beach, Laurie (Scott) Gogolin, Adrian, Casandra (Josh) Fuller, Tipton, eight grandchildren Amanda, Megan, Ben, Taylor, Trey, Ava, Cassidy, and Abbie, and three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Zoltan, and Tucker. Brother Glen “Dave” Akers; sisters, Joann (John) Brown Clayton, Rona (Gene) Butts, Adrian. Preceding him in death are his parents, son, Larry Douglas Akers Jr., two sisters, Lou Corbin and Yvonne Burgett.Per Larry’s wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Sunday August 21, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at North Rome Cemetery with Military rights conducted by the Onsted American Legion Post 530. Obituary Preview: Donald Lee Sprague, nearly 92, passed peacefully on August 8, 2022, at his home surrounded by his four girls. Born in Hudson, Michigan to Carroll C. Sprague and Myrna Harris Sprague on September 10, 1930. He is survived by his four daughters, Sandy Tusick (Raymond), Rita Couch (Tim), Lisa Alexander (Jim), and Lynda Mazzurco; grandchildren, Nicholas Thomas, Hillary Tusick (Sam Nowak), Kelly Hays (Drew), Alex Marshall (Paul), Matt Tusick, Carl “Joe” Mazzurco, Tim Alexander, and Lauren Alexander. Also survived by his siblings, Alfred Sprague, Shelia Mitchinson (Gordon), Brenda Cattell (Elden), and Sonja Quinn; his dear beloved friend, Jean Friis, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Douglas Sprague (Shirley June), Shirley Ann Mitchinson (Rev Al), brother-in-law, Thomas Quinn, and grandson, Jack Tusick. Donald was a hard-working farmer until his late 20’s on his parent’s farm in Hudson and a dedicated electrician for 30 years at Dundee Cement Company until he retired in 1993. He then relocated to Toledo. He was a very skilled mechanic and could fix most anything. He enjoyed trips to Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, Arizona, Alaska, upper Michigan, Lake Erie in Vermilion and especially the Fulton County Fair every year. He was an active Democrat, loved camping, riding motorcycles, dancing, and rollerblading, but took the most pride in his “four daughters” and their families. His last several years presented numerous health challenges where he continued to show a steely toughness that was Superman-like. We would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers throughout the years, especially those at ProMedica private duty, ProMedica Hospice, and Home Instead for their dedication to our dad. Family will receive friends and family on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 1-3 p.m. at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home, 415 W. Main St., Hudson, MI with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m.and internment immediately following at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson.

Robert was born on March 3, 1933, in Prattville, MI the son of Clair and Lela (Timberman) Hills. Robert received his bachelor’s degree from Trine University and had been employed with Waldron Industrial, retiring after 37 years of service. On March 20, 1971, in Osseo, he married Emma J. Rutter, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Emma, Robert is survived by his two children, Tony (Michelle) Hills and Annette (Matthew) Marshall; four grandchildren, Jesse, Mya, Alexanderia, and Joie; and one great grandson, Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers, Billie, Richard, and Everett; three sisters, Shirley, Betty Lou, and Norma Jean.Visitation for Robert will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Eagle Marry Funeral Home, with Pastor James Eckart officiating. Obituary Preview: Beverley June Faulk was a caring spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She left this world on June 27, 2022, at the age of 82 after a month-long stay in the hospital.She was born to Ruby “Pat” Hayre and Elmer Morris Faulk on May 29, 1940.After graduating from Bowling Green University, she taught school in Flint, MI, and Asheville, NC. She felt called to go into ministry, attended Boston University School of Divinity, and was ordained an Elder in The United Methodist Church on January 3, 1972, by Bishop Francis Gerald Ensley. After serving at United Methodist churches in Commercial Point and Pleasantville, OH, Bev entered chaplaincy and served 25 years at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN focusing most of that career in the neo-natal unit. While working at Methodist Hospital, Bev finished her Ph.D. in counseling. After retirement, she relocated to Hudson, MI where she became the co-owner of the local newspaper, the Hudson Post-Gazette in 2018.She met Barbara Ireland, the love of her life, in 1997 and married her on August 13, 2013.Bev loved reading, watching WNBA basketball (especially the Indiana Fever), playing sudoku and other games on her computer as well as traveling when she was able. Her children Kiah (Abi) and Rayna (Cupcake) were her pride and joy.She is survived by her wife, Barbara Ireland, children Kiah Conway and Rayna Defoor, grandchildren Aaylah Conway and Dante Defoor Jr., and great-grandson Ellis Keeling, along with 18 nieces and nephews, 30 great-nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents Ruby “Pat” and Clarence Hayre and Lucy and Elmer Faulk, sister Debra Ann Hayre, and niece Melissa Stiverson.Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Hudson, Michigan from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. followed by a time of memory sharing and celebration. He then attended Michigan State University and Adrian College. He held various jobs in his lifetime and was a very caring and thoughtful person. Rex is survived by his sister, Patricia Hackett of Hudson; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and her husband, Betty and Phil Hough; brother-in-law, Glenn Hackett; and a nephew, Michael Hackett.According to family wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. On September 24, 1955, in Riga, Harry married Laura Jean Goetz and she survives. Harry started his work career at Revco Manufacturing until he eventually realized his dream of owning and operating a grain farm. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Adrian, enjoyed fastpitch softball, baseball – especially the Detroit Tigers, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.In addition to his wife of 66 years, Laura, Harry is survived by his children, Gregory (Kelly) Bailey of Hudson, Kirk (Tamara) Bailey of Boone, NC, and Kris (David) Bailey-Rupp of St. Paul, MN; brother, Don Bailey of Adrian; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Obituary Preview: Helen C. (Gregg) Vinaske, age 99, of Hudson, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, in Martin, TN. She was born December 23, 1922, in Richfield Center, Ohio, to Henry and Clara (Bettinger) Pinkleman. Helen graduated from Metamora High School in 1940 and attended the comptometer school. She was employed as a comptometer operator for Ransom and Randolph in Toledo for several years, until she married Douglas Gregg on September 28, 1946, and the couple moved to Hudson. Douglas passed away in 1978, and Helen took a job as the secretary of Spielman’s True Value Hardware, retiring in 1985. She married Carl Vinaske on February 4, 1984, at Sacred Heart Church, and they enjoyed 17 years together before Carl’s death in 2001. A member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Rosary Society, Helen served as secretary and volunteer, mentoring at Sacred Heart School, as well. She was an active member of the Hudson Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.She enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing cards, as well as keeping up with the latest fashions. Her life was full with the love for her family. Helen is survived by her children, Orrin (Mary) Gregg, of Blissfield, MI; Charlene (James) LoVette, of Martin, TN; John (Zabrina) Gregg, of Winter Haven, FL; and Melissa (Ric) Proudfoot, of Hudson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her children, Mary Smith, and Rick Gregg; and her siblings Justin, Germanus, Harold, Robert, Norbert and Eugene Pinkelman, Marcella Fisher, Mary Kovac, and Lillian Camp. A Funeral Mass for Helen will be celebrated on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Hudson with Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Rosemarie was born on December 12, 1933, in Detroit, the daughter of Amede C. and Rose (Pelletier) Drouillard. On October 20, 1951, in Angola, IN, she married Daniel Theodore Perry and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1987. She had been employed with Chrysler for 30 years as an Inspector, retiring on April 1, 2002. Rosemarie had a strong Catholic faith and was a 1951 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Canada. She loved Bingo, a competitive game of Chance, basketball, collecting antiques, and shopping with her grandchildren. Most of all, Rosemarie loved her family and spending time with them.
Surviving Rosemarie are her six children, Daniel Perry of Hudson, Amede Perry of Jackson, Michael Perry of San Fernando, CA, Timothy Perry of Napoleon, MI, Lynn (David) Stepke of Chester, WV, and Donna S. Perry of Hudson; one brother, Marvin (Eydie) Drouillard of Alabama; 11 grandchildren, Kathleen, Jeremy, Adam, Heather, Cindy, Aimee-Jo, Chuck, Danae, Joshua, Joseph, and Jenna; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Daniel Perry III; and daughter-in-law, Diane Perry.
A graveside service for Rosemarie will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson with Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht officiating.

Obituary Preview: Donald L. Kerr, age 89 of Hudson, Michigan passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton surrounded by his two daughters. He was born in Clayton, Michigan on February 27, 1933 the son of Art and Florence (Dunlap) Kerr. He married Joyce Ann O’Bryant on September 13, 1953 in Hudson, Michigan and she preceded him in death.Don graduated from Hudson High School, class of 1950. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served 4 years. Don then began his career with the Hudson Post Office in 1956, where he began as a substitute mail carrier on both rural and city routes. Later he began as Assistant Postmaster and then in July 1985, he was appointed Postmaster until he retired in January1989 after 37 years of service.Don was a member of the Hudson American Legion, Hudson Athletic Boosters, Hitch Up & Go Trailer Club, Hudson Barbershop Quartet, Hudson Senior Center and numerous other organizations. He was inducted into the Hudson Hall of Fame 2020-2021.He enjoyed attending Hudson athletic events as well as filming the varsity football games including the 72 game winning streak. He spent a lot of time building and flying his radio controlled airplanes. Don also enjoyed wintering in Florida where he called BINGO, did the sing-alongs, and participated in the Sarasota Bay Travelers group.Don dearly loved his daughters and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all.Surviving Don are his two daughters, Brenda Brunet of Wyoming, Michigan and Tammy Acker of Hudson, Michigan; one brother, Dale Kerr of Hudson, Michigan; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great granddaughter; and his friend, Esther McNair of Adrian, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kerr; his parents; in-laws; and three brothers.The Funeral Service for Don will be Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11a.m. at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home, Hudson. Phil was an icon in our small town of Hudson and will be greatly missed by his family and the community. He was admired for his strong work ethic. Four days before his death, he could be seen making deliveries in his dump truck.
