C. …..Evie Elizabeth (“Jip”/”Lib”) Beal Lynch, age 98, of Liberty Road, Greensboro, N.C. passed away peacefully at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro on Friday, December 31st, 2021. She was born April 26th, 1923 in Lincoln County to the late Noah Edward Beal and Susan Shrum Beal. Mrs. Lynch was a much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a member of the Rocky Knoll Baptist Church, Greensboro, N.C. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, James Earl Lynch, a daughter, Brenda Kay Lynch, 3 brothers, William Edward Beal, Milas Leonard Beal, Darrell Victor Beal, 4 sisters, Mattie Beal Richards, Marie Beal Wilkinson, Joyce Beal Mitchem, and Shirley Beal Sigmon
Mrs. Lynch is survived by her devoted son, Charles Edward “Bud” Lynch of Greensboro and his long-time friend Donna Younts. She is also survived by a loving granddaughter, Christian Amber Lynch and husband Gregory Michael Kinsella of Charlotte, and by 3 sisters, Queeta Beal Harkey, Betty Beal Setzer and husband Ned Setzer of Lincolnton, Linda Beal Chambers and husband Butch Chambers of Mooresville and numerous nieces and nephews.
The body of Mrs. Lynch will lie in state for visitation from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday January 5th at the Goodin-Drum Funeral Home located at 118 S. Carolina Avenue, Maiden, NC 28650. Out of precaution for the covid virus the family will not be present during this time.
A private graveside service memorializing Mrs. Lynch will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday January 6, 2021, at Lawing’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery located at 4637 Lawing’s Chapel Church Road, Maiden, NC. 28650. Rev. Jimmy Jones will officiate at the interment.

Obituary Preview: John Frances Susavage, 80 of Lincolnton passed away at his residence on November 10, 2021.  John was formerly of Atlantic City, New Jersey.  He was born on June 15, 1941 in Schuykill County, Pennsylvania to the late John A. and Mary Margaret Christock Susavage.  John worked as an HVAC technician with a large pharmaceutical company for many years before retiring.  He was a kind, quiet, and loving man.  John loved his parents deeply, especially his mother.  He was always honoring the mothers in his life.  He was a devoted family man that loved to spend time with his family.  John had a flower business for years.  Lillies were his favorite flower.  He loved the outdoors, especially farms and horses.  John loved deep sea fishing and hunting in his free time.
In addition to his parents, John was preceeded in death by one son, Scott Susavage.  John is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Werner Susavage, two sons; John C. Sususavage and Christopher Susavage, one daughter, Jeannette Taylor, two grandsons; Seth and Brice, three grand-daughters; Emily, Hannah, and Elizabeth and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Obituary Preview: Patricia Irene Knighton Roy, 78 of Lincolnton passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021 after a brief illness at Atrium Health - Charlotte.  Patricia was born on September 13, 1943 to the late Ivan Leroy and Thema Yvonne Dustin Knighton in Lyndon Vermont.  She was retired from Duke Energy - McGuire Nuclear Station after 26 years of employment.  Patricia worked in numerous capacities from welder to supply manager.
In additon to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by one son, Everett Roland Roy, Jr. of Shelby, and two brothers; Douglas "Bud" Knighton and Roland "Tink" Knighton.
Patricia is survived by three daughters; Glenda Henderson and husband Al and Jennifer Roy both of Lincolnton, and Sharon Stillwell and husband Frank of Cherryville, one daughter-in-law, Michelle Roy of Shelby, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many cherished nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held Friday September 24, 2021 at First Wesleyan Church, 115 Bon View Ave., Lincolnton, NC.

Obituary Preview: Tony Dale Graff, 65, of Lincolnton passed away at his residence on September 13, 2021.  Tony was born on January 13, 1956 to the late Roy Thomas Graff and Barbara June Hawks Gosthnian in Seattle, WA. He worked in packaging at Salem Industries.  Tony attended Redemption Outreach Church.  He loved people.  Once Tony got started talking, you couldn't get him to stop.  His family would kiddingly ask, "Who put a quarter in you, Tony?"  Tony loved his family dearly.  Although he barely knew his biologiacal father, Tony was very close to his adopted Dad, Harry "Gus" Gosthnian.  Tony and his family all grew up in Seattle, WA and then moved to North Carolina in 2001.  Tony's uncle, Lyle James Claflin, was his best friend.  L.J., as he is known, would sit with Tony and they would talk and talk forever.  They enjoyed their favorite foods and drinks together.  The two always had fun together.  Tony loved to sleep when he could and only got up for food, or to use the bathroom then right back to bed.  Tony was the "best uncle ever" to his nieces and nephews.  He will be greatly missed by them.  Tony resided at Umar Services where his housemates were like brothers to him.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his adopted Dad, Harry "Gus" Gosthnian, one brother, John Edward Gosthnian, and one sister, Dorothy Louise Rolph.  Tony is survived by one sister, Joanna Marie Claflin, one brother, Harry "Skip" Gosthnian, Jr., his uncle, Lyle James Claflin and a number of cherished nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Tony's family will receive friends at 12:00 pm on Tuesday September 21, 2021 at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home in Maiden.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm on Tuesday September 21, 2021 in the chapel of Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn of Lincolnton.

Obituary Preview: Donna Rohde Partin, 59 of Lincolnton, entered into her eternal rest on August 24, 2021.  Donna was born on August 10, 1962 to the late William James and Lena Mae Nunes Rohde in New York City.  She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  Donna was a very dedicated rural mail carrier for over 20 years with the U.S. Postal Service.  She loved the outdoors. Especially doing yard work and gardening.  Donna loved her family and friends very much.  The Partin family is deeply saddened and will miss Donna greatly.  She was their sunshine.
Donna is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 31 years, Henry L. Partin, two daughters; Amanda L. Cunningham and Heather Nicole Hineline both of Lincolnton, one sister; Laurie Mancuso of Florida, three grandchildren; Jayden James Cunningham, Delilah Violet Hineline, and Robert Gene Hineline III, all of Lincolnton, two nephews; Robbie Mancuso of NC, and Kenny Mancuso of FL, four nieces; Crysta Smith, Holly Ammons, Tracy Thornton, and Michelle Conners, and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Claude graduated high school from Lincolnton High School. He later joined the Army National Guard. Claude served for 10+ years as a cannoneer with Battery C, 1st Battalion of Lincolnton. Claude loved playing the drums and used his talent by playing for the church and for local bands. He was a member of Poplar Springs AME Zion.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lorene Ashe, two brothers; Jimmy M. Ashe and Reginald Ashe, Sr.
He is survived by his daughter Ri'Chea Bess of Atlanta, Georgia, one brother William (Palastine) Ashe of Jacksonville Arkansas, two sisters; Carolyn Brown of Lincolnton, N.C. and Phyllis (Robert) Coulter of Hickory, N.C., one aunt, Ruth Pearson, one great aunt, Ester Mae Ramseur, and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Obituary Preview: Isabell Byers Faulkner, 88 of Lincolnton went home to be with her Lord on Friday July 16, 2021 at the Heath House where she had been a resident for 2 years. The family would like to thank the Heath House staff for the wonderful care and love for Isabell during her time there.
She was born January 14, 1933 in Gaston County to the late Carl Edgar and Sarah Carpenter Byers. Isabell was a member of Highland Drive Free Will Baptist Church for over 60 years. She loved the Lord, her family and her church family. She loved her roommate of over 2 years, Emma Metcalf. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. Her trademark smile will be missed by everyone who cherished her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Otis C. Faulkner, her brothers; Claude E. Byers, and John E. Byers, sister, Ella Mae Byers Ramsey and a niece Darlene Williams Elmore.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Myra Faulkner Heafner (Larry Biddy) of Gastonia, sisters; Katie Williams (Lester Williams) and Katherine Keever of Lincolnton. Eleven nephews and twelve nieces. A number of great nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Isabell’s life will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Highland Drive Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM. The service will begin at 12:00 Noon officiated by Rev. Luke Johnson. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jim Byers, Larry Faulkner, Perry Faulkner, Butch Helms, Alex Monk, and George Tucker.

James is survived by his wife, Frances K. Ward, two step-grandchildren; Kallista Aldridge, and Chase Aldridge, both of the home, one son, James Richard Ward of Greenview, WV, one grandson, Kaden James Ward of Logan, WV, one brother, Danny Ferrell of Bias Branch, WV, two sisters; Linda Doss of Bias Branch, WV, and Teresa Akers of Lake, WV, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
The family will have a funeral service on Saturday June 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at Powell Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Low Gap, WV. Rev. James Barker will officiate and Bobbie Richmond will be singing. Interment will be at Family Gardens Cemetery in Low Gap, WV.

James Riley, 70-year-old, resident of Lincolnton, North Carolina passed from this life into eternal life on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home.
James was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1951.
James predeceased by dad, Pittman Riley, mother, Margie Taylor, sisters, Ether, Sarah, and brother, Jerry.
James is lovingly remembered by his brother Lawrence Riley and sister Lilly Miller; His children, Jamo, Patrina, Tamara, Lawrence Riley and Crystal Riley Stutts; Grandchildren, Lace, Jamo jr, Xavior, Avron, Kahlia, Chandler, Victor, Starr, Tyree, and Rasheed; Great Grandchildren, Xavior jr, Skylaar, Heaven, and Cj; Also, a host of his relatives and friends.
James was a first-place award winner in the Health and Medicine division of the 1969 Metropolitan Detroit science fair at Cobo Hall. He graduated at Martin Luther King high school, then went on to get his Bachelors degree in Math and Science at Wayne State University. James survived by Linda Riley, loving former wife of 17 years. Then he worked as a Bio-Lab technician at Wayne State from 1971 to 1972. At age 24, James enlisted in the Air Force in 1975. He was stationed at Bellevue Hill Air Force Station in Albans, Vermont; He was a Radar Technician. After the Air Force, he worked at IBM. Then his wife and first 3 children decided to move to Texas for a job opportunity at Texas Instruments; As an Electronics Technician. He and his wife had two other children. Several years later he moved back to Detroit. He worked for Wayne Community College and Cass Tech High School in Tutoring Students in advance math and Science. James then went on assisting at Wayne State University for a few years. James created a community garden called “Brush Park”. He then finally retired in North Carolina. James loved his family. He has always loved gardening, swimming, cooking, chess, and playing/collecting music. Services will be announced at a later date.  Thank you. The Riley Family

Price of Iron Station, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by Love on January 15, 2021 at Atrium Health Lincolnton.  Joan was born at Joan Glancey Memorial Hospital in Duluth, Ga., on October 25, 1945.  Her parents named her after the hospital.  She was a native of Lawrenceville, Ga. where she grew up on the family farm.  She worked as a sales lady and gift wrapper at Belk in the early 60's.  Then went on to work in the printing industry as a camera apprentice specializing in plate making, bindery, stripping, and developing.  She moved to North Carolina in 1977 with her late husband, daughter, and son, then later retired from the printing industry. Joan loved her family, God, the beach, art, music, cooking, dancing, and reading.  Joan was also a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher.  She was also a faithful member of Faith Baptist for over 25 years.  Her passion for life was Great, and her heart and home were always open to family and friends.  You never left her home hungry, or unloved.  She was the Greatest Mother, Nanny, Sister, Mentor, and Friend anyone could ever ask for, and she will be Greatly missed.
Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband Phillip C. Price, her father, Ule E. Montgomery, mother Melrose S. Montgomery, brother Thomas Southard, and granddaughter Joan Nicole (NIc) Rice.  She is survived by her daughter Angela W. Stills ( Chris) of Catawba, NC, son Michael P.D. Price (Lora) of Charlotte, NC, step-daughter Kelly A. Price of NY, and step-son Scott Price ( Missy) of Gastonia, NC, sisters Betty Hrinko of Stockbridge, Ga., Della Montgomery of Bethlehem, Ga., brother Eddie Montgomery (Wanda) of Elberton, Ga., Grandsons Christopher Rice (Stephanie), Mason Price and Maddox Price, Matthew Price, Jeramiah LaBrake, Step-Granddaughter, Elyssa Stills, great grandchildren Jillian Rice and Everette Rice.  Countless nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The Price Family would like to acknowledge the CCU nursing staff and the 3rd floor nursing staff at Atrium Health Lincolnton.  Thank you for taking such great care of our mother during her stay at the Hospital.  Due to Covid, we are delaying the celebration of Joan's Life, and will announce it at a later date.

She was born in North Belmont on May 5, 1932 to the late William Chrisley and Alma Alberta Tutherow Dorsey. Alma was a loving, caring, giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed greatly. She worked in textiles for many years at Edmos, Lincoln Shoelace, and Mohican Mills. Alma also worked as a dietician at Crowell Memorial Hospital. She was a seamstress at home for her family. Alma made three piece suits for her husband and most of her daughter’s clothes up through seventh grade. She placed tags with a special message in the clothes that read " especially made with Love from Mom". Alma loved vegetable and flower gardening. She canned great foods from the garden. Alma was a great cook, as well as, a wonderful baker. She loved family gatherings, entertaining, and cooking out for everyone. Alma was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church on Highway 182 West in Lincolnton, NC.
In addition to her parents, Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Hugh Taylor, Sr. who passed away July 18, 2004, one brother, James Dorsey, four sisters; Louise Henderson, Geneva Ramsey, Carol Leonhardt, and infant Edna Joyce.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Denise Grant and husband Rev. Charles "Chuck" E. Grant, two sons; Clyde Hugh Taylor, Jr., and William Chrisley Taylor, two brothers; Chris Dorsey and Bill Dorsey, four sisters; Caleen Hawkins, Shelby Ellis, Rosielee Shuford, and Marylee Smith, two grandsons; Raymond Grant and wife Jennifer, and Joshua Grant and wife Elizabeth, two great-grandsons; Kipton Grant and Kellan Grant, one special family member, Sharon Stiles Jones, two great-grand doggies; Cody and Caroline, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Grove UMC. The service will be graveside. The family asks anyone attending to please wear face coverings and observe social distancing due to the Covid virus. A service to celebrate Ruby’s life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 3:30 PM at Bethel Baptist church where she served as the church Choir Director and Children’s Choir Program Director for many years. She was born on October 31, 1934 in Lincoln county, the daughter of the late Mary Reinhardt Withers and Milton “Garvin” Levoid Withers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marshall Levoid Withers, and her nephew, Mark Levoid Withers. Ruby will be remembered for her sweet, kind nature and for her loving heart. She didn’t know a stranger. In addition to how she cared for her family and others Ruby loved the Lord and loved singing worship hymns with her angelic voice. One of her favorite hymns to sing for others during difficult times was “In The Garden”. God gave her a love for music and the gift of song from a very early age and she used it to bless countless lives over the years. She worked in textiles as a Quality Control Specialist. She was a vital asset in the hosiery and knitware divisions, children’s clothing lines, and fabric industries. Ruby is survived by her husband, Charles (Chuck) R. Caudle, of Lincolnton. Her Nephew, Gary Withers and wife, Lyndon of Hickory. Great Nephew, David L. Withers, and wife Xylvia of Lincolnton. Great Great Nephew, Noah Withers of Lincolnton, and her caregiver and Niece Gail Robinson and husband Patrick, of Asheville, NC. She is also survived by two stepsons and two step grandchildren, all of CA, as well as numerous special family members, and many cousins and friends. Ruby was also an animal lover and in addition she is survived by her precious fur babies, Pepper and Foxy. He raised a special nephew, Howard Gillespie Jr. , as his son.  He enjoyed making others laugh and listening to music, feeding his cats, and riding his scooter. Woodsie enjoyed having his wife make him banana pudding and potato salad. He was a great softball and baseball player, hitting many homeruns. One of Elmore’s favorite saying was “Two Faced Committee”.
He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, his loving devoted wife, Myrtle Evans Shipp of 50 years. His brothers, Thomas (Jackie) Shipp of Hayward, California, Lewis (Lisa) Shipp of Morganton, NC. , Three sisters, Loretta “Candy” Shipp , Sallie “Cookie” Shipp of Lincolnton, NC. and Ann Edwards of Greensboro, NC.
