Rhonda Sue Guenther - January 26, 1959 - March 31, 2024

Departed: 03/31/2024 (Bethel)
Obituary Preview: Rhonda Sue Guenther, age 65, of New Richmond, Ohio went home to heaven on Easter March 31, 2024. There she was reunited with her loving parents, the late Ronald Earl Guenther and Janet (Steele) Guenther.
Rhonda was born January 26, 1959. She is survived by her brother, Steven (Amy) Guenther, by her cousins: Gina (Hector) Maldonado, Michael Zigos, Jenny Steele, and Jeff (Jenni) Steele, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is also survived by her Aunt Barbara Steele and Uncle Don Green . She was preceded in death by her Aunt Sharon Steele, Green, and her Uncle Delbert Gene Steele. She was a devoted “Aunt Nonda” to her nieces, Amanda (Stegemiller) and Abigail (DelaCruz), and nephews Andrew (Guenther) and Alec (Guenther). She had a gift for spoiling them, each one got “un-Birthday presents” when it was their sibling’s birthday! She shared her love of reading, traveling to historic sites, and of true crime with her nieces and nephews. We found out years later she used to let them “drive” on a side street sitting at the steering wheel while she controlled the pedals! She added an element of fun (with a side order of danger) to life!
Rhonda was always a very good student, much to the chagrin of her younger brother following a few years behind her in school! She was always curious about a variety of subjects, and immersed herself in pursuing knowledge. Rhonda found her calling when her passion for books led to a position with the Clermont County Library. During her career there, she made many lifelong friends – kindred spirits, who loved reading as much as she did. These “Golden Girls of the Library”, as they called themselves, gathered several times a year, and always kept in touch. Rhonda made friends easily and kept them. Rhonda was known for her sharp mind, her ready laugh, her astonishing, almost photographic memory, her quick wit, but mostly for her sense of humor, which she took pride in and admitting was a “little bit twisted”!
One of her favorite pastimes was going out in search of deer. This pursuit was shared with her cousin (and “deer” friend), Gina. These two who referred to each other as “Cookie” and “Muffin” could be found most Friday evenings out driving the backroads of Clermont County “deer stalking”, a term they coined, keeping count of all the does and bucks they saw, but mostly laughing as if they were sisters, and best friends, which they were.
Rhonda also became a “Mom” later in her life- a “Cat Mom”, first to Taz and later to Peanut. She spoiled them both and they in return, gave her so much love, joy, delight and affection.
Rhonda‘s other hobbies included photography, especially of wildlife, her travels, and her family, documenting our memories. Like her interest in all things historical, she became the family genealogist, researching our roots and relatives. Also for many years, she corresponded with pen pals from all over the world.
What defined Rhonda most was her faith. She learned to pray from her mom, Janet, a godly Christian woman, whose own mother Myrtle had helped plant a church in Mount Washington. She is part of a wonderful legacy of faithful believers.
Though Rhonda‘s own health declined, and she was forced to leave her library job, she helped her dear mom and dad when their health failed. She demonstrated her devotion to family by serving them. Because of her abiding faith, we know she has entered heaven, and is no longer struggling or in pain, but whole, healed, and at peace.
Visitation will be held at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home 315 W Plane St. (St. Rt. 125) Bethel, on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Interment Greenmound Cemetery.

Paul grew up in a Chicago suburb where he enjoyed competing in the school chess club and played clarinet in the marching band. After reading a book about ultrasound technology that Sandy brought home from her job as a nuclear medicine tech, he decided to apply for ultrasonography training. His work in medical imaging brought him to Cincinnati where he helped set up and run University Hospital’s first ultrasound and MRI programs. One of his favorite moments was doing the ultrasound on Sandy to confirm she was pregnant with their daughter Hilary. He worked in healthcare imaging and then management for the rest of his working career. After retirement he enjoyed working at Woodcraft where he happily reinvested his paycheck back into the store. Paul enjoyed creating things and was especially adept at working with wood. Whether it was building a designer treehouse for his grandchildren or crafting beautiful stringed instruments, he loved making things for family and friends. Paul loved nature and was fascinated with space. He dabbled in many things including making maple syrup from his own trees, running multiple marathons, piloting his own plane, and juggling while riding a unicycle. Paul was the kind of loving husband and father/grandfather who enjoyed encouraging us to try new things, to rip the wrapping paper at Christmas and drive the bobcat in never ending loops.
While cancer may have taken him in the end, Paul was a survivor. Paul survived with multiple myeloma for more than 20 years and three rounds of fighting. When he was first diagnosed in 2003 the average survival rate was about 3 years and is still today 58% make it 5 years. He aided research and actively encouraged others who were also fighting cancer.
