Obituary Preview: The Early Life
Georgia Mae Bennett Jones of Summerton, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 26, 2022.  Georgia was born to the late John Washington and Corine Gibbs Bennett on September 6, 1938. She received her former education with the Clarendon County School system.  In her teen years she met the love of her life and after a long courtship she married Willie Jones in 1955. In 1956, they moved to Miami, Florida where they started a family. The Miami, Florida Years
Georgia joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Carol City.  There she served as a member of the Women Auxiliary Ministry. She completed practical nurse training which served as her lifelong profession until her retirement and relocation back to Summerton, South Carolina. The Summerton, South Carolina Years
Upon returning back to Summerton, Georgia became a founding member of the Baseball Grannies. A group of three grandmothers who restarted the youth baseball program at Summerton’s Wausau Park. Georgia was a member of the Santee A.M.E. Church and later the Briggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Latter Years and Retrospect
For nearly 20 years, Georgia served as the President of the Bennett Family of Summerton, South Carolina family reunion. The reunion brought together family members from near and far.
Georgia enjoyed fishing, planting flower gardens, baking, and the friendly game of whisk. Her unmatched specialties were ambrosia salad, sweet potato pie, coconut custard pie and apple jelly cake. She was known to her family and their friends as the “Queen of Hearts and Diamonds”. Georgia was statuesque in heart, in sense of humor, in confidence, in generosity and in love. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Gutierrez (Ricardo); brothers, Joe Nathan Bennett (Ella), Frazier Bennett (Eliza), Buster Bennett (Queenie) and Lawrence Bennett (Irene); sisters, Elizabeth Singleton (Joseph Shep) Daisy Bennett (Eugene), Pauline Bennett and Hattie Black-Jones.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of sixty-six years, Willie Jones; Children, Linda Williams (Derrick), Gregory Jones, Renee Wilson (Terry), Jennifer Harris (Earl), Willie, Jr. (Yolanda), Hope Jones, Emma Smith and Levern Brailsford.
Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Bertha Martin (James) and Mae Pearl Caldwell (Noley); brother, Adam Bennett (Pawla); and a host of  grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Evangelist Betty Lou Martin Johnson - July 27, 1950 - February 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dr. Evangelist Betty Lou Martin Johnson was born July 27, 1950 in Brooklyn New York.  She was the second daughter of the late James & Daisy Green Martin. From an early age she was active with the usher board at the Holy House of Prayer for All People in Brooklyn.  Betty Graduated From Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Brooklyn.  She continued her education at New York City Community College.  Betty worked at United Cerebral Palsy in Staten Island as a teacher assistant.  She later worked at Carl Fenichel Community School in Brooklyn as a teacher assistant.
Evangelist Johnson was united in marriage to the late Deacon Isaac Johnson Sr. After marriage she joined Universal Temple COGIC in Brooklyn where she was active in many ministries. Betty became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Brooklyn and she and her husband later  joined the House of Faith Holiness Church.  She served as choir director, youth choir director, and Missionary. Betty received her Evangelist license under Apostle Douglas Johnson where she also did monthly prison ministry in New York.
Evangelist Johnson relocated to South Carolina in 1995 where she joined Taw Caw Missionary Baptist church.  She continued praising the Lord with a loud voice for Jesus. She served as a Youth Minister, Associate Minister, was in the Deaconess Ministry, and directed the Flag Ministry. In December of 2014 Betty was honored to receive a Doctorate in Christian Leadership from the Great Commission Bible College & Seminary in Columbia.
She operated her own in home daycare for a while as well as working with AmeriCorp in Clarendon School District One. She later spent many hours volunteering with the Manning High School Band.  Betty was very supportive of the band in any way she could.
Those who will continue to cherish her memories and love her are her step-daughter Tina (John) Boone, son Isaac (Nikki) Johnson Jr., daughter Chiffon (Minister Malcolm ) Cameron,  grandchildren Fredrick (reared in the home), Tony, Jada, Charlie , Trinifa, Malachi and Iqueze ,  two sisters; Apostle  Myra (Deacon Leroy) Pearson, Janice (Pastor Robert) Brown, one brother Leroy (Helen) Thompson, and Evangelist Ernestine Oliver, Cheryl Bradshaw and Lynn Pechnika who were just like sisters. Pastor Kimberly Wells was a special friend.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god children and many other relatives and friends.
