It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jacques Paul Pettit Jr. Jacques was born on June 2, 1996, to Jacques and Michelle Pettit in Yonkers, NY, on a bright sunny day, bringing all that light into our lives. He departed this world on November 16, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in our hearts.
Jacques graduated from Riverside High School in 2014 and continued his educational journey, earning a certificate in Dental Assisting from Southern Westchester BOCES in 2019.
Known for his spontaneous spirit and insatiable curiosity, Jacques approached life with an enthusiasm that was contagious. His passion for music was a source of joy for those around him, and his guitar melodies will linger in our memories like a sweet refrain. An avid outdoors enthusiast, Jacques found solace and excitement in every body of water, casting his line with the hope of a big catch.
Jacques was a cooking pro. We have endless amounts of memories of him cooking and having us taste his food. Sometimes leaving a mess in the kitchen, it was all worth it in the end. His creativity and spirit were boundless, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
One of our fondest memories is when Jacques discovered his innate ability to escape his crib. Like a little Houdini, his leg would be over the railing before you could leave the room, a testament to his spirited and determined nature. The laughter and joy from those moments echo in our hearts, a reminder of the precious times we shared.
Jacques leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering passion. His infectious smile and laughter will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Beyond the grief of his departure, we find peace in the memories that will continue to bring us comfort.
Jacques leaves behind his parents, Jacques and Michelle Pettit, his sisters Nycole Tobey, Kristyn Pettit, and Brianna Rocque, and his brother-in-laws Andrew Tobey and Max Rocque, along with four nephews and nieces: Gavin Tobey, Miles Tobey, Carter Rocque, and Aria Rodriguez. His predeceased grandparents are Floyd and Estella Pettit, and his living grandparents are Anthony Kosmolsick and Phyllis Rosenthal-Baker. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

JAMES G. HOLODAK SR. - February 03, 1934 - November 03, 2023

Obituary Preview: JAMES GEORGE HOLODAK SR. 89, died on November 3, 2023, after battling cancer for many years.
Jim was born on February 3, 1934, the youngest of eight children born to John and Mary (nee Hopko) Holodak. He was a lifelong Yonkers resident, having attended Most Holy Trinity School and Gorton High School. from which he graduated at 17. Jim served in the U.S, Navy for 4 years and was honorably discharged as an Electrician's Mate third class.
In April 1955, he married Veronica Agnes (nee Jankowski) Holodak at St. Casmir's Catholic Church and together they raised seven children. Veronica predeceased him in April 1993 after an auto accident in Florida.
Jim was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, where he served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and church trustee. He also was Cub Master of Pack123 then assistant Scout Master of Troop 45. As a 4th degree Knight of Columbus in La Rabida Council #166, he achieved the honor of Grand Knight from 1973-1975 as well as District Deputy from 1988-1990. Jim was also a member of the Slavic Unity Network, United Slavonian American League and the First Catholic Slovak Union. Early in his career, he worked for RCA, but joined the family business started by his father in 1922, Westchester Cooperage, aka Wesco Steel Drum Co., eventually becoming president and owner until his retirement at 65. According to his daughter, Terry, " he was Larger than life and even when his body was frail, his spirit was strong! He never lost his faith..." In addition to his first wife, he was predeceased by his parents and 6 siblings, and has one remaining brother, Frank (Peggy) Holodak. Jim was remarried in 2001 to Dawn Maron Holodak. He is also survived by his 7 children, Ann Marie (Larry) McDermott, Carolyn, James Jr. (Ruthann), Edward (Maria), Charles, Theresa (Mark) Hanrahan, Mary Ruth (Paul) Romagnoli and Dawn's sons, Ricky (Kelly) Maron and Chucky (Tashi) Maron. They have 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren:
Michael (Anna) McDermott (Coen Miles), Karen (Josh) Visbal (Lilly Skye and 6-week-old Lucas Joshua), James III (Stephanie) Holodak, Stephanie Holodak and Lauren (Ross) Vandenburg, Greg and Veronica Holodak, Christopher, Julia and Ryan Hanrahan, Ethan, Timothy and Tucker Romagnoli, James, Robert, CJ and Sammy Maron.
Jim is also survived by a multitude of cherished in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
May he rest in peace.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 1-3PM and 5-8PM, in DUCHYNSKI-CHERKO Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Now named,  St. Mary's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church), at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

CHARLES JOSEPH JANKOWSKI - May 25, 1941 - August 18, 2023

Charlie was born on May 25, 1941 in Yonkers, NY to Stanley and Eva (Wroblewski) Jankowski. He attended St. Casimir School and graduated from Saunders High School in 1959. He worked various jobs before being drafted into the United States Army in December 1963. He served two years and was stationed in Germany where he worked as an MP. Following his service, he worked for the US Post Office until his appointment to the Yonkers Police Department in December 1971. Charlie retired 30 years later after serving as a Patrolman, Evidence Technician, Youth Division Investigator and Detective.
Charlie was a member of the Knights of Columbus - La Rabida Council, the Westchester Police Pulaski Association and New York State Police and Fire Retirees Association. He was a parishioner of St Casimir’s Church.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barabara (Matthews), his four daughters (Charlie’s Angels), Virginia Mancuso (Frank), Valerie Mancuso (Jerry), Deanna Kowatch (Chris) and Gail Jankowski. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, who he adored; Meghan DeWeerd (Tim), Christian Kowatch, Danny Kowatch, Liz Kowatch and Hunter Kowatch. His is survived by his brothers John Jankowski and Dennis Jankowski and his sister Cecilia Zumar (Nick). He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister, Veronica Holodak.
Visitation will be at DUCHYNSKI-CHERKO Funeral home on Tuesday, August 22nd from 4pm until 8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Casimir Church at 10am on Wednesday, August 23rd followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers NY. He attended high school at Monroe Woodbury High School. Carl and former spouse Kim married in 1987 and had his only child Jamie, whom together they adored.
Carl was a big personality and was always the life of the party. He was quick to tell a joke or pull a prank. He was an amazing friend and was loved by many, especially his BTTE brothers. He was fiercely loyal and protective of those he loved. He was very passionate about music and sang in a band for many years.
He is survived by his father Michael Crespo, daughter Jamie Fernandes (Luis), brothers Derrick Candelaria (Jennifer), Michael Crespo (Ksenia), his 3 grandchildren (Alaina, Alexander, and Aiden Fernandes), nephew (Derrick Candelaria Jr.) and niece (Alexa Candelaria). He will also be mourned by his extended family of three half-sisters Christine Candelaria-Vela, Cassandra Candelaria-Santiago and Vanessa Candelaria-Acevedo, one half-brother Steven Candelaria and father Carlos Candelaria in Florida.
Carl is predeceased by his beloved mother Julianna Crespo.

He will be missed by his 7 beautiful grandchildren, William, Haley, John-Michael, Nicholas, Matthew, Joaquin & Kayley.
Michael proudly served in the US Army in his early adult years. He was also known as "Micky Dell", an accomplished musician and music teacher (drums, guitar & harmonica) and owner of the Eastchester Music Center for over 54 years. He was extremely proud of his accomplishments in the music business as the music center is still going strong today and his legacy lives on! Michael’s band “The Dell Tones” were very popular in the 60’s, 70’s, playing gigs near and far. Michael was an avid outdoorsman and dedicated many hours to archery, fishing and spending time in nature.
He had a fun, loving, funny and outgoing personality and was simply one of the best. Michael was well loved by family and many lifelong friends and he will be deeply missed.

She worked at Precision Valve Corporation in Yonkers for many years until her retirement. Janina enjoyed many things in life, including traveling, but the one thing that was most important to her was her family.
Janina was predeceased by her husband ,Bronislaw, daughter, Grace Macur, and grandson,William Macur. Janina is survived by her loving son Boguslaw Ruzga. She is also survived by her two granddaughters; Elizabeth Macur and April Macur; her grandson, Raymond Macur Jr. and great grandchildren, Michael Sanzi, Christian Sanzi, Abigayle Macur, Noah DiDonato,  Matthew Macur and Cameron Macur.

Olga’s joy in life was her family. Olga is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws Jacqueline (Alex) Bacon and Pamela (Patrick) Gil, another daughter Marguerite Pacacha predeceased her. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Sean, Kimberly, Matthew and Aerin Bacon and her sisters Helen (Alexius) Krusko and Evelyn Mikulak, sister-in-law Lucy Pacacha and nieces and nephews Diana (Philip) Grossweiler, Andrea (Jeff) Stahl, Diane Krusko, Alexius (Deborah) Krusko, Lisa (Vincent) Starkey, George (Anja) Pacacha, Ellen (Bill) Jones, Francis Edward (Edith) Pacacha Jr. and many grand nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband John Joseph Pacacha Jr., his parents and siblings along with her parents Vasil and Anna (Kovala) Mikulak and sisters Anna & Helen Mikulak.
Visitation will be on Wednesday May 10, 2023, from 10 AM to 11AM in St. Mary’s Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church, 485 North Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701, followed by the Funeral Service and Interment at Oakland Cemetery.
