Choun Phy - February 05, 1950 - March 18, 2024

Departed: 03/18/2024 (Riverdale)
Obituary Preview: Choun Phy, known affectionately as the "Grand Marlin of the Mekong" for his legendary fishing tales, cast his final line into the celestial waters on March 18, 2024. At the spry age of 74, with his favorite hat jauntily tipped, he embarked on the ultimate camping trip to the great campground in the sky, leaving behind a legacy as colorful as his collection of fishing lures. Survived by his lifelong fishing partner and wife, Sav Kang, and his crew of little minnows: sons Roeun, Sok, and Ros, and his daughter Nancy Cunningham, who all inherited his knack for reeling in life's joys. Little shiners: son in law; Norman Cunningham, daughter in laws; Hue Khanh, Sopheany Choun, and Linda Choun. His school of grandfish—Jasmine, Adriana, Angela, Joshua, Adam, Aubrey, Ni'esha, Kaitlynn, Ayden, and Liam—will miss their Grandpappy's tall tales and taller hats. Choun, a man who could out-fish fish themselves, leaves a wake of laughter and a pond full of memories. Known for his boisterous chuckles and the ability to find a hat for every occasion, he was the lifebuoy of every family gathering. Come hook, line, and sinker to celebrate Choun's final voyage:
