Obituary Preview: Wanda R. Watkins 90, of rural Clearville, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 16, 1932, a daughter of the late John J. Kofchur and Ester L. (Conrad) Kofchur. On January 2, 1954, she married Donald J. Watkins in Monroe, Michigan, who preceded her in death on November 11, 2018. She is survived by a son, Jay Watkins; three grandchildren, Amber J. Watkins, Jay-de A. Watkins and Gabrial D. Watkins; a great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing by two sisters, Pearl M. Moody and Mary E. Kofchur and a brother, John J. Kofchur, Jr. In 1950, Wanda graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh. After high school, she worked at the Social Security Administration’s office for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and was affiliated with Fairview Christian Church, Inglesmith, PA, where she played the piano and was a youth group leader. Wanda also held various office positions in the Rebekah Lodge, Everett, PA. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 21, at 11:00 am at Fairview Cemetery, Artemas, PA, with Pastor Milton Morris officiating. He was born Tuesday, August 26, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN, a son of the late Dewey Marshall and Eleanor Jean (Garland) Marshall. On August 29, 1963, he married My (Grant) Marshall, his companion of nearly 60 years. She survives along with a sister, Patty Crumbaker; two sons, Larry Marshall and wife Beverly, and Charles Marshall and wife Cheryl; two daughters, Heather Marshall and Diane Richards and husband Kenneth; and five grandchildren, Alexander Bila, Carrissa Lindmark, Deirdre Marshall, Jordan Marshall, and Morgan Marshall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by a sister, Judy Skags. A graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indiana, Larry took great pride in joining the United States Navy where he served for 20 years, earning the Vietnamese Unit Citation, Civil Action Medal 1st Class, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation with a Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba) with a Bronze Star for Dominican Republic, Navy Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry Medal Division Level with a Silver Star. Larry was a part of the VFW, Amvets, and Fleet Reserve after the military. He also was a member of the Masons, Ali Ghan Shrine Club in Cumberland, MD, where he was a Potentate, Scottish Rite, Keystone Kops, and the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife Peggy Mills, a brother, Paul, five sons; Perry (Susie), Mike (Carol), Troy (Jan), Brian (Tammy), and Kenny (Jen), four daughters; Tracey, Mel (James), Polly (Jim), and Becky (Kevin), and three stepdaughters Jill (Gene), Nancy, Joni, and 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. After graduation from Everett Area High School, Alvin joined the United States Air Force where he served as a Military Police Officer from 1958-1962.Upon returning home from his service, Alvin worked as a self-employed truck driver for many years until his retirement. Once he moved to Everett, he worked at Archers and Anglers where he met a lot of friends and good people until his retirement. Bill’s passion in life was being in the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting. He had 5 beagles that he cared for deeply. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Libby graduated from Everett Area High School and received her associate degree in nursing. After college, she worked as a registered nurse at Bedford Memorial Hospital, Donahoe Manor, and was a teacher at Bedford County Technical Center and Allegany College of Maryland. Elizabeth, or more commonly known as Libby, touched the lives of many patients, students, and peers over her lifetime. Her grandchildren were her world and she loved spending time with them, especially hiding Easter eggs every year. She also loved going to the beach with her family. She is survived by her son, Gregory Hawkins and daughter in law, Connie; grandson, Dain Hawkins; granddaughter, Christie Horn; brothers Ivan A. Steele (wife, Dee) and Marlin Steele (wife, Bonnie), and great grand-daughters, Emily Horn and Brenna Becker. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey L. Hawkins; brothers: Ross C. Steele, Galen D. Steele, and Fred E. Steele; a sister, Jean Steele, husband, Richard Foreman, and ex-husband, Earl Hawkins. She was a graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1949, and was employed by the Fairfoot Shoe Factory until its closing. Eleanor leaves behind her devoted cat, Nellie, whom she loved dearly. A loving and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be truly missed for her caring ways and the love she shared with so many. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Elmer and Glenda Carpenter, paternal grandparents Coy, Julia, and the late Grace Truax, and his Uncle James Truax. He is survived by his mother and siblings; Tina Ewing (Butch), Christine Ward (Tim), Kimberly Ewing (Chris), Julie Talbert, James Truax (Becky), and Spring Whisel (Sam), and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Sherman had a zest for life that most special needs exhibit. He loved animals and the outdoors. Some of his favorite activities were being on the farm, walking, watching the nature channel, eating, and going for car rides. You will be missed, J. He has had some very special assistants, nurses, and caregivers over the years, and for this the family is eternally grateful. Special thanks going to the staff and nurses at Meadow View Nursing Center and the Interim Healthcare Hospice staff. There will be no public services. A private burial will be held by the family. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he was a truck driver and served from 1971 to 1977. After his time served in the military, Melvin continued to drive truck for over 40 years where he fulfilled his dream to travel the country and retiring as an owner/operator. She is survived by a daughter, Vickie and husband Richard Frederick, and a son, Bryan and wife Chrystal Orr, Two grandchildren, Melissa Varner and John Frederick, And four great-grandchildren, Kayla Killian, Erissa Varner, Rachel Frederick, and Eli Frederick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by nine sisters; Iva Grubb, Virginia Knight, Helen Dickens, Mable Witt, Lena Shirley, Mildred Williams, Betty Cordell, and Shirley Kile, four brothers; Royal Donivan, Delmer Donivan, Carl Donivan, and Jay Donivan, and a son Barry Orr. After attending high school, Eleanor worked as a seamstress for many years, not only being self-employed, she also worked for several companies and businesses, including Deist Cleaners and Dalla Valle Funeral Service. Eleanor was very active in her church, United Methodist, now Everett United Methodist, where she was part of the women’s ministry and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She loved cooking for her family and friends and was well known for her vegetable soup. Family was very important to her; vacations were planned around her family and by going to Virginia Beach. She was preceded in death by husband Omer Lee Price; daughters Carolyn Price, Janice (Price) Samborn and husband Daniel Samborn; parents Elsie and George Miller, sisters Ruth Miller, Betty (Miller) Kagarise, Grace (Miller) Hott, Joe Miller, Isaac Wolford, and Stanley Wolford. Doris first attended the Pillar of Fire Church and then became a member of the Pennwood Bible Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also attended Mount Union Church. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Christian Fann and girlfriend Brittany Norris, Jaclyn Fann, and Jacob Bostic. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her in-laws, Jack D. Bostic and Leva L. Bostic. After obtaining her GED, Margaret attended Allegany College of Maryland to receive her associates degree. She worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Pennknoll Village. It was in this work where Margaret had a special gift for caring for not only her patients but for everyone she met. She loved her dogs very much and enjoyed trout fishing in her free time. The family would like to send out a special thank you to Kelly Clark, Holly Snyder, and Lori Diehl for their help and care over the years. A graduate of Everett Area High School class of 1960, Joyce worked for many years in the Bedford Memorial Hospital snack bar, as a cafeteria worker at Everett Area High School and at OIP where she felt like the owners treated her like family. She loved and took passion in cooking and talking to all of her customers and students throughout the years. Joyce was blessed to be a great-grandmother to her precious Maya. She was born Wednesday, June 12th, 1946, to the late Stanley Jacob Potts and Elsie Elizabeth (Pepple) Potts. On August 13th, 1964, she married W. Gary Clabaugh in Winchester, Virginia. Preceding her in death was her husband, her parents, her sister Lisa (Potts) Scoggins and her nephew, Joel Scoggins, both of San Antonio, TX. She is survived by two daughters, Tammy married to Steve Gelvin of Hustontown, and Julie married to Brian Jacobs of York along with grandchildren Brandon Gelvin, Steve Jacobs and fiancé, Christina Lukac, and Amy Jacobs. Great-grandchildren Kailee, Brookelynn, Maxx, Braylin, Brody, Brinley, Ryot, and Lucy, all of Pennsylvania, survive as well as brother-in-law Terrell Scoggins, nieces Rebekah, Deborah, and Sarah (Scoggins) Meyer and her family, nephews Jacob, Joseph, all from Texas and John and his family of Oklahoma. Carol leaves behind special cousin Polly Feaster plus many beloved friends and brothers and sisters in the Lord around the world from Pennsylvania to Texas to New South Wales, Australia. She greatly enjoyed winters spent in Texas with family and road trips there and back with friends. Carol was a member of First Christian Church, Everett, PA and valued Bible studies and being involved in prayer gatherings. Sharing the Word of God, using it to encourage and uplift others, was an important part of her life. She also took pleasure in baking and sharing the finished product with others. Watching family members at sporting events and playing the piano provided many hours of relaxation. A graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School class of 1964, Carol later took night classes in business at Penn State, Altoona. She worked in clerical/bookkeeper and retail positions at Bedford Memorial Hospital and Tom Grance Photography until 2002 when she began caregiving for family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at 11:00am at Donelson Funeral Home 22 West Main St. Everett with Rev. Robert R. Robertson and Pastor Dwight JR Winck officiating. Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Karen (Cornell) Mitch and husband, Michael, of Gaithersburg, MD; two grandsons, Ryan and Justin Mitch; and three siblings, Roger Cornell and wife, Yvonne, of Chesapeake, VA, Ronald Cornell and wife, Kathy, of Schellsburg, and Carol Croyle, widow of Tom, of Schellsburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by a sister, Shirley Davis, and a brother, Robert Cornell. Don was a graduate of Bedford High School, class of 1958. After graduation he had a long career with Standard Register, working there for more than 25 years. He later worked at JLG and DMP before retiring. Don was devoted to his family and was very proud of his daughter and grandsons. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, sharing with them his love of the great outdoors, auto racing, and football. He modeled for everyone the important values of working hard and caring for others, and he faced challenges knowing that he could get through anything by living his life “one day at a time.” Don enjoyed attending Pennwood Bible Church.
