She graduated from Hull High School in Hull, MA. She earned her BA from Brandeis University, her master’s from SUNY Cortland and her EdD from the University of South Carolina Columbia. Eileen married Donna Smith on May 15, 2004, in Ottawa, Ontario.She began her career with SUNY Potsdam as Professor of Special Education and retired as the Associate Dean. Eileen was a communicant of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton, A Fulbright Scholar, a member of the League of Women Voters and she played clarinet in the New Horizons Band. Sullivan, 57, a lifelong resident of the Old Potsdam-Parishville Road, tragically passed away Friday afternoon, December 8, 2023 at his home.Dan was born on November 14, 1966 in Gouverneur, the son of the late Jerry and Nancy (Grant) Sullivan. He grew up in Parishville, where he was a 1984 graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School and took a year of courses at Canton ATC. On June 15, 1991, he married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Sweeney at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. John Murphy, officiating.After graduating from high school, he worked for a time at Atlantic Testing before starting a career with UPS where he worked in various roles retiring as a driver after 35 years of service. He had a lifelong passion for farming and continued that passion on the family farm after his retirement. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Sons of the Amvets Post #265. He also had a great love for the woods and being outside with snowmobiling, hunting, and camping being some of his favorite pastimes. He was a very genuine and caring person who would help anyone in need and loved to hang with his friends and family in the garage.Dan is survived by his loving wife and still his high school sweetheart, Tammy; his children, Connor D. and his wife, Harleigh Sullivan of Parishville and Jayda M. St. Thomas, 77 of 624 County Route 55, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, at his home.Edward was born on December 10, 1945, in Massena, son of the late Ray and Anna St. Thomas. He was a graduate of Massena Central School served in the US Air Force from September 9, 1965, until his honorable discharge December 3, 1968. He married Louise (Oney Moulton) on October 7, 2006, in Winthrop.He worked in the pot rooms at General Motors before owning and operating E&B Bar in Nicholville with his wife, Louise. He then worked at Sealtest Dairy until his retirement. After retirement he went back to work at BJ’s Wholesale Club as a cleaner for six years.Edward enjoyed watching football and hockey. He loved spending time with family and friends and going to the Casino.He is survived by his wife Louise; his two children, Michael and Amy St. Thomas; two grandchildren, Katelyn Grace and Cooper; and three siblings, Susie McGregor of Louisville, Ray St. Thomas, Jr. of Massena, and John (Cindy) St. Thomas of Massena, and many nieces and nephews.Edward was predeceased by his mother and father, Ray and Anna.Friends may call at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home on Thursday, 3-6:00PM where a funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 AM. He attended Madrid-Waddington school and on June 14, 1990 married Pamela “Jodie” Jerome.He worked for many years at the former Potsdam nursing home as a maintenance/grounds worker. He enjoyed wood working and made many creative projects and also building and repairing bicycles. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and visiting with family and friends. He loved his family and was a great father and an amazing papa. Everyone who knew Kenny knew he was an amazing person, creative, crafty, witty and everything in between.He is survived by his wife Pamela; three children, Chantel French of Potsdam; Amber (Jade Sullivan) French of Potsdam; and Tiffany (Miles) Mundy of Killeen, TX; three grandchildren Marielle, Caspen and Azaiyah; and his best friend and companion Bear, his dog.He was predeceased by his parents John and Sharon French.There will be a Celebration of Life for Kenny at a date and time to be announced.Donations may be made in Kenny’s memory to the Potsdam Humane Society.Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home where friends and family are encouraged to share memories and condolences online at www.donaldsonseymour.com. She graduated from Madrid High School and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Potsdam State Teachers College. She taught at Madrid Elementary School from 1957-1989. She was a member of the Madrid-Waddington Retired Teachers Association and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was a choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was active in the Presbyterian Women's Group and church governing bodies. Betty also served on the Madrid Library Board for several years and was a member of the Madrid Historical Society.On March 31, 1956, she married Gerald W. Crump at the Scotch Presbyterian Church of Chipman. Following their marriage the couple resided in Madrid, NY.Betty is survived by her husband, Gerald, and three sons, Robert of Madrid, Howard and Elaine, LeBelle, Fl., David and Ava of Vestal, NY: 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.Betty is predeceased by her sister, Barbara E. McKnight.Betty enjoyed tending her flower garden along with the canning of vegetables and jellies. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She particularly cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Thorpe, 89, formerly of Potsdam, passed away on September 21, 2023 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Virginia.Barbara was born on March 14, 1934 in Massena, the daughter of the late Paul and Ethel (Cummings) Crump. She graduated from Massena High School and later married Lawrence Thorpe on April 16, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in Massena. He later predeceased her on October 26, 1989.Barbara was a devout Catholic who attended St. Mary's Church in Potsdam, NY prior to moving to Virginia in 2019. She loved working in her flower garden at her home in Potsdam and spending summers with her family at Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks. She enjoyed listening to her son, Bob, play trumpet with the Norwood Brass Firemen and was very proud of all their accomplishments. He married Denise Thomas on June 4, 1983 in Thornwood, NY.John was a staff Sargent for the US Army and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star in 1968 for meritorious achievement in grounds operations against hostile forces.John went on to earn his Master’s in Social work from NYU and ran a successful private practice in Tarrytown NY for twenty three years. In his later years, John and his wife Denise relocated to Colton NY where he worked as a counselor for Clarkson University and continued private practice. John was a man of faith and always saw the good in others. Despite his accolades in the military and his career, John was a family man who always said his children and grandchildren were his proudest achievements.He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, and kayaking. John played Division 1 football prior to enlisting in Vietnam, and was a huge sports fan, especially of Clarkson Hockey, the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Bruins. He loved helping others and being a part of the community and had previously been very active at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
