A native of Lafayette, Indiana she was born on July 13, 1938 the daughter of the late Walter John Kauffman and Goldie Ann Spaulding Kauffman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Russell Harshbarger.
She was the church secretary at St. John Methodist Church where she had also been an active member since February 11, 1968. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 50 years, the St. John Women and the Twilight Homemakers.
Survivors include her daughters: Melinda Sue (Scott) Judd of Hendersonville, TN and Cindy (Bryan) Harshbarger Burden of Paducah, KY; her brother, Jerry (Beverly) Kauffman of Bluffton, SC; her grandchildren, Danielle Joiner, Logan Joiner, Hannah Grace Judd and Zach Judd; her great grandchildren, Kainan Shafer, Zaylee Joiner, Levi Joiner, Braylee Joiner, Eleanor Porter and Caydence Joiner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Rachel Joyce Powell, William Elwood Powell, Patty Powell, Nancy Powell, and Otis Lynn Powell.

A native of Danville, VA he was born on July 31, 1930 the son of the late Joseph Edwin Carson and Elinor Carson. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a master’s degree in nuclear engineering in 1959 and held a lifelong occupation as a nuclear physicist. He also held memberships in the American Nuclear Society, Sigma Xi, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He received honor and awards both from Life Fellow and the American Biographical Institute Research Association. He was also a contributor of several technical articles and publications.
His community activities includes being the chairman of the Young Republican Federation of Virginia, the president of the Lynchburg Young Republicans Club, chairman of the Young Republicans 6th Congressional District of Virginia, and the vice chairman of the Lynchburg City Republican Committee. He was a member of the Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church until it closed in 2019.
He was preceded in death by his sons, William Edwards Carson, Jr and Paul Andrew Carson; his brother, Joseph Edwin Carson, Jr, and his sister, Olga Jane Carson Floyd.
Survivors include his son, John Edwin (Diana) Carson of Holiday, FL; his daughter, Kathi Reed of Hopkinsville, KY; his grandchildren: Jeremy (Andrea) Reed, Jennifer Coogle, Jacqueline Reed, James Reed, and Jessica Carson; as well as four great grandchildren.

After graduating from Christian County High School in 1962 he enrolled in Western Kentucky University and completed his Bachelor’s of Science in 1966. He then attended the University of Louisville Medical School and graduated in 1970. He entered the United States Navy in 1971 and served as a physician in the United States Navy Medical Corps, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After his Navy service he returned to Hopkinsville in 1973 and joined the family practice of Dr. Gerald McCord. He stayed there and ran his family medical practice until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son: William Barry Simpson; and brother: Glenn Simpson.

Bill graduated from Hopkinsville HS in 1976 and worked at Grupo Antolin. He lived in 40-plus states, worked in the oil fields, and was an Army veteran. Bill loved playing chess, being a dad, playing PlayStation, FSU, UK, cars & and being a DJ. He was an amazing and present father, he was a great friend, he was a kind brother, and he was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his daughters, Jessica Massie, of Trimble, TN, and Annice (Mike) Pearce of Louisville.  Bill is also survived by brothers Greg Massie of Hopkinsville, and Alan (Marissa) Massie of League City, TX, and sisters Anita (Marty) Schroeder of Hopkinsville, Jody (Randy) Chavez of Friendswood, TX, and Debbie (Michael) Urdiales of Hopkinsville.  Survivors also include his grandchildren Josh, Jamie, Jacob, Wyatt, Michael William, and Harlow, and great-grandchild, Brandon.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, the late William and Josephine Pernestti Massie. He was also preceded in death by sister Anna (Peewee) Hartgrave and great-grandson Michael Dixon.
The family has entrusted Dogwood Funerals and Cremations to manage the arrangements. To fulfill his wishes, Bill will be cremated, and his Celebration of Life will be in late April in Hopkinsville when the weather is warmer and the flowers are out, as this was his favorite time of year. Details of Bill’s Celebration of Life will be communicated through social media.
