He served in the United States Armed Forces, was deployed to the Vietnam War, and later honorably discharged.  He later pursed a career as a master electrician with Dow Chemical (OCD) until retirement. He loved woodwork, building things, and spending time with his family.

Obituary Preview: George Kenneth Barnes was born on July 08, 1952 to the late Mr. Lewis Barnes Sr. and Mrs. Harriett Barnes in Clute, Texas. George was the sixth child of twelve children.
George passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2022 in Freeport, TX.
He graduated from Brazoswood High School Class of 1970. In 1974, at age 21 he graduated from US Marine Corps basic training in San Diego, CA. George was a member of Victory Temple Holiness Church in Brazoria, TX. He worked in construction for many years. And in his later years, spent his time commercial shrimping. He enjoyed fishing and shrimping. He loved “being on that water man!”
George was known as a people’s person and a stranger to few. He spent many hours on end talking to or messaging family/friends on Facebook. He loved his family dearly and was Uncle Kenny to many. He also enjoyed listening to zydeco music and playing dominos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Harriett Barnes; sisters, Maggie Barnes and Harriett Barnes Hood; brothers, Christopher, John, Johnny and Samuel Barnes; brother-in-law, Doyle Simon.
George leaves precious memories with wife, Catherine Simon Barnes, his sons, Kenneth M. Barnes (ChaQuania), George K. Barnes, Christopher K. Mattie was nothing less than an amazing woman.  Every individual she encountered was impacted by her jokes, smile, laugh, and of course, her fancy nails.  She loved the Lord and was a worshipper.
Mattie is preceded in death  by her mother and father, Mary H. Fairley-Jones and Saul Jones, Sr.; brothers, Saul “Bill” Jones, Jr., Joe Issac Jones, Sammy Jones and Jerry Jones; sisters, Ruth H. Jones, Nancy Jones-Hurd, and Hulda “Sis” Jones.

Obituary Preview: Lynda Jo Wiginton Danford was born in Victoria, Texas, September 23, 1951.  Lynda passed away at the age of 70, on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at her home, in the presence of her loving family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Sidney Wiginton and Billie Jean Lovelady Wiginton.
Lynda is survived by her husband of 24 years, Neal Danford; sons, David (Denise) Poland of Woodsboro and Patrick (Amy) Danford of Kingwood; daughters, Amy (Mitch) Horner of Woodsboro and Virginia Lou Danford of Angleton.  She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Wiginton and sisters, Patty (Bill) Baugh, and Billie Sue Dunnivan.  Affectionately known as, “Momo”, Lynda is survived by 8 adored grandchildren, Garret Horner (Esme), Clay Horner, Sidney Horner, Luke Poland, Grace Danford, Victoria Danford, Justin Danford, Hannah (Danny) Bernardi; and 2 great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Samuel Bernardi; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lynda was a 1970 graduate of Woodsboro High School.  She enjoyed antique shopping and working in the yard, especially tending to her roses.  She loved camping with family and friends.  Furthermore, she was her children and grandchildren’s biggest fan at football, basketball, and baseball games, 4-H, dance recitals and any other activities they were involved in.
Mrs. Danford was overwhelmed by the love, prayers, cards, visits, and calls she received throughout her illness.  She received loving medical care from St. Luke’s Baylor and MD Anderson medical staff and many compassionate nurses.
Visitation will be held at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 E. Mulberry St., Angleton, Texas on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 3:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton officiated by David Wilson.
