Georgia Mae Boyd - July 12, 1924 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Bolivar)
Obituary Preview: Georgia Mae (Spencer) Boyd July 12, 1924 ~ March 30, 2022 (age 97)
The sun rose and the world welcomed Georgia on July 12, 1924. Georgia was born to the late Maggie Armour Spencer and George Y. Gibson in Hardeman County, Tennessee.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday April 9, 2022 at 12 noon at the Mount Olive MB Church -Somerville with burial in the Antioch MB Church Cemeteryin Whiteville, Tn with Reverend Clydell Coates in charge. Dixie Funeral Home www.dixiefuneralhome.com was in charge of the professional service.
She was the 7th child out of 11 children who all preceded her in death. Georgia, or known to many as “Aunt Annie”, took delight as a young girl tending to her family's farmland where they owned chickens, cows, and cotton. As a member of her family-owned church from a very young age, Georgia dedicated her life to Christ while attending Antioch Baptist Church.
Annie has always loved math and earned her education at Union Spring and Allen White High School. Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Georgia Mae Spencer-Boyd transitioned on March 30, 2022, at 2:58 p.m. in Saint Louis, Missouri. Georgia lived to be the ripe age of 97 and was surrounded by many loving family members when she passed to be with the Lord.
Annie married James Garfield Morrow on August 18, 1942, and their union brought forth four beautiful children, Garland Morrow, James Garfield Morrow, Jr. (Evangeline Morrow), Viaretha Morrow Moore (Agustus Moore), and Betty Jean Baker-Randolph (Hershall Lee Randolph) who preceded her in death. Her late husband, James Garfield Morrow preceded her in death as well on September 12, 1971.
Family has always come first and was above all else to Annie, a value she instilled in all her children and grandchildren. Later she joined with Odie Boyd, Jr. and their union blessed the world with three more beautiful children, Patricia McNichols (Reginald Lee McNichols, Sr.), Shirley Boyd (Ronnie Kee), and Sandra Boyd. In 1965 she moved to Saint Louis, Missouri and pursued a career in private duty where she later gained wealthy clients like the Toberman's who owned multiple restaurants and managed the St. Louis Stranssenfest.
Odie Boyd, Jr. preceded her in death on March 6, 1987. She would later join West Side M.B.C. under the leadership of Pastor Ronald L. Bobo, Sr. Georgia alongside her daughter Patricia moved into a house in Normandy that would mature into a hub for family strengthening, often hosting holidays, special occasions, and becoming a second home to many family members. She resided there until she made heaven her home. Georgia lived a full and vibrant life. Up until her last breath you could find her on the dance floor of every family function smiling, singing, and showing her grandkids how low she could go. She cooked a Sunday dinner almost every day, made everything from scratch, and loved when you asked for seconds. She made the best baked spaghetti, her sweet milk icing and caramel cake was to die for, and her Mauls Barbeque sauce recipe could've been an award-winning masterpiece. Her hobbies included cooking, traveling to her hometown Tennessee for the Hickory Valley and Asbury Picnics, eating crab legs, dancing, going to the casino and storytelling. She took pride in sharing her family's oral history and her story telling abilities are matched by none. She understood the power of family history and she would often engage in comical storytelling during the holidays when the majority of her family were together. Georgia was mother figure to many people and had a great love for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Now that Georgia has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Georgia's physical life on earth, it's the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her behind heavens gates. Annie joins her parents, her ten siblings, her daughter and her two grandkids in Heaven.
She is survived by many loving family members, including: her six children, Garland, Viaretha, Patricia, James (Brother), Shirley and Sandra, her twenty-four grandkids, fifty-three great grandkids, three great-great grandkids, and her nieces and nephews that she loved like her own kids.
