He was born January 14, 1969, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to William Franklin Smith and Wanda Elaine Smith.  William leaves his mom, Wanda Smith, his wife, Angie Smith, his father in law, Arthur Stockstill and his wife Sylvia, his daughter, Amber Hunt and her husband Christopher of Everton, His sons; Aaron Smith of Everton, Zack Smith of Everton, his sisters; Diana Brokaw and her husband Barney, Renee Pendley and her husband James, his brothers; Keith Smith, Bobby Smith, Frank “Bill” Smith, Mike Smith, Gary Varando, his brother in law, Jason Stockstill, His grandchildren; Taylor, Kayley, Alyson, Dustin, and his best friends; Mark McCrory and his wife Conshae, Mitch Ulmer and his wife Deborah, and so many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

William grew up in Mississippi. Throughout his childhood, he was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church. Angie and William were lifetime friends before getting married. They were married for 33 years. William and Angie decided to move to the Natural State in 2005 after exploring Arkansas. He made a living as an electrician and Refrigeration Technician. His wife will forever cherish all the memories dancing together and listening to him play the guitar.

William will be remembered for being family oriented, a jokester, and being ALS strong. He didn’t allow ALS to get in the way of his life and spending time with his family. He loved to take his Grandbabies to the Grand Country in Missouri for fun. He enjoyed keeping his family on their toes with his humor and jokes! If you knew William, you knew whenever his best friends all got together something was bound to happen. William will be loved and missed by so many.

He is proceeded in death by, his dad, William “Frank” Smith, his brother, Freddie Smith, his son, Dustin Burge, His grandpa, William “Bill” Smith and his wife Margie, his grandfather, Bill Walters, his grandmother, Mildred Walters.

There will be a Memorial Service held at Valley Springs City Hall - 8141 Elm Road, Harrison, AR 70601.  Officiated by James Reeves on May 7, 2022, at 2pm. Military Honors will be preformed

Jerald Thomas Stapleton - March 21, 1947 - April 15, 2022

Obituary Preview: On Friday April 15, 2022, Jerald Thomas Stapleton of Lead Hill, AR. gained his heavenly wings. He was at home with his wife Krissy Kimes Stapleton and daughter Kathy Stapleton Frantz.

Jerry was born March 21, 1947, in Exeter, MO and grew up in Purdy, MO. He enlisted in the Marine Corp and did two tours in Vietnam. When he returned from Vietnam he worked as truck driver and then construction where he helped build many buildings in Branson, MO. Jerry was an active member of the VFW, American Legion, and Taney Co Shrine and Masonic Lodge of Branson MO.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Dale R. & Margie Stapleton, son Dale Stapleton, and brothers Junior Stapleton and James Stapleton.

Obituary Preview: Yvonne Marie Villneff Adamson of Freck, Arkansas graduated to heaven on April 13, 2022. She didn't have much time to plan or even pack for this once in a lifetime trip, but when Jesus calls you drop everything and run into His arms!

Yvonne was born in Highland Park MI on May 21, 1949 and was a graduate of Calico Rock High School, North Arkansas College, as well as Grace Bible Institute with a Bachelor's degree in Ministry. Yvonne worked as an Educational Administrator prior to retirement and was an active member of Fellowship Church of Mtn Home AR.

Yvonne was proceeded in death by her mother Evelyn Norene Villneff, two brothers John Villneff and Jerry Villneff and one Brother-in-Law Gerald Blair.

Yvonne is survived and missed dearly by her husband Jimmie Ray Adamson of 46 years, her son, Clifford Teegarden of Dolph, three daughters, Karey Adamson of Gainesville, FL, Karen Ketchum (Lou) of Yellville, AR and  Kristy Williams (Gypsy Phillips) of Pyatt, AR, as well as her father James A. Villneff of Mtn. Home, AR, four sisters Patricia Blair, Kathie Goodwin-Stevens (Freda), Joanie Rosson (David Sr), and Marilyn Hicks(Jerry), ten grandchildren, Patrick, Caitlin, Sheldon, Laken, Kindell, Hallee, Abigail, Benjamin, Jesse, and Sophia. And one great grandchild Emersyn Evalena Jane, as well as a host of nieces nephews, extended family and dear friends including her Fellowship  Church  Family. A Celebration of Life for Yvonne will be held on April 24th at 12:30 at Fellowship Church 2325 E Arkansas Ave Mtn Home AR

Obituary Preview: Lavina Rae Friend, 79, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022.  Lavina was born on July 31, 1942, to Arthur Raymond Walker and Agnes Lavina Walker in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Wichita North High School and in 2014, at the age of 72, she went on to study accounting at North Arkansas College.

She married Max Allen Friend, Sr. on April 30, 1970, going on to have three children, Max Allen Friend, Jr., Donald Arthur Friend and Henry Newell Friend.

Lavina was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Agnes Walker, and her son, Henry Friend.

She is survived by her two sons, Max and Donald Friend; seven grandchildren, Dakota Friend, Jayden Ingerson, Marletta Price, Montana Friend, Sage Friend, Justin Riggen and Rebekah Friend; and two great grandchildren, Esther and Gabby.

A celebration of life will be held in Harrison.  The dates will be announced here as they become available.

Warren Robert Honeycutt - April 07, 1940 - April 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Warren Robert Honeycutt passed away Monday, April 11th, 2022, surrounded by his family. Daddy was born to Horace and Nettie (Saylors) Honeycutt on April 7th, 1940.  He married Katie DeWeese in 1958 and went on to love and raise 4 children.  In his early years daddy worked in the log woods in Oregon and Washington.  They moved back to Arkansas and he started work for Doy Marshall operating a bulldozer and living and working on one of his farms.  Daddy took great pride in his bulldozing work and he met and made many friends along the way.  He drove a semi for Willis Shaw and enjoyed seeing the United States.  We kids got some really great things from all those truck stops!

Daddy lived with a purpose and zeal for life that was often reflected in his boisterous sense of humor, tall tales and clever phrases he loved his kids and grandkids fiercely, and shared stories of them with anyone who would listen.

Daddy was preceded in death by his Parents Horace and Nettie, his son: Robert Vance, 3 brothers:  Doyle, Koneth and Ray and two sisters:  Bonnie and Wanda.  He is survived by his children:  Kevin, David and Kelly (his ‘sissy bug’) and her husband John King,  a brother: Don (Louise) Honeycutt, Katie Honeycutt and grandkids:  Brandon, Brooke (David) Chase (Chelsie), Mandy (Brandon), Collin, Bryce, Mallory, Shelby, Ryan (Wendy).  Great-grandchildren:  Annie Kate, Walker Vance, Wyatt Allen, Keirsten, Kenzye, Taylor, Tyler and Tanner, a sis-in-law:  Winnie Honeycutt and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and a number of ‘sissies’ that is to high to count.   We have lost a great man, the best grandpa and to us, his kids a hero.

A graveside service is scheduled at York Cemetery in Bergman AR. on Friday April 15th  at 2pm.

Lavita was born to Raymond and Dorothy Oldham in Salado, TX on February 4, 1949. She was married to Charles “Chuck” Mills for 34 years.  Lavita is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a nephew.

She loved being outside, her flowers, her chickens and donkeys, and her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She was happiest sitting in her rocking chair on her front porch watching the kids play.

She is survived by her loving husband Chuck, six brothers, one sister, her children Christi and her husband Kevin Jackson, Brandon and his wife Heather Durham, and Justin Mills, her grandchildren Haley Baughman, Weston Rutledge, Derrick Jackson, Tori Durham, Hunter Baggett, Cambrie Jackson, Logan Durham, Brock Jackson, Zowie Durham, Logan Jackson, Abigail Gilliam, Evelyn Mills, Caraline Mills, Coeplynd Durham, Dez Jackson, Casen Durham, Mexia Durham, and Nation Durham, and her great grandchildren Tucker Jackson,  Oaklyn Baughman, Sawyer Jackson, and ClaraAnn Jackson, with two more on the way.

There will be a celebration of life on May 1, 2022 at 2:00 at Copper Rock Barn. All are welcome.

Obituary Preview: Sally Ann Parsley 71, of Lead Hill, Arkansas passed away on April 10th, 2022.  She was born August 16th, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of John and Margaret Wiggins.  Sally was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, and a brother-in-law. Sally is survived by her loving husband Larry of 53 years. Her two children Amy Harp and husband Tony of Harrison, AR and Brad Parsley of Lead Hill, AR. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Austin Smith, Marissa Hemphill, Matthew Hemphill, and Dawson Harp all of Harrison, Ar.  She is also survived by her mother-in-law, a brother-in-law, and a sister-in-law, and a host of nieces and a nephew. She was a 1968 graduate of Lead Hill school. She spent her early years working for her parents at the Lead Hill boat dock in Diamond City until they sold it in 1980s. She than began her long-time banking career at Security bank and ended at Bear State Bank. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed spending time making Afghans for everyone. She spent a lot of time at hobby lobby, so she could decorate for every season and holiday. She enjoyed spoiling her favorite dogs Steel and Scout. She was the hardest working, sweetest, most loving, and most caring Wife, Mom and Nana.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday April 15th, 2022, Visitation beginning at 1pm at the service starting at 2pm at House of Prayer in South Lead Hill AR.

Walter Roy Ubiles - Unknown - April 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Walter Ubiles of Diamond City, Arkansas, passed to his Heavenly Father earlier this week. He suffered from a diabetic condition he had battled with courage and quiet dignity for most of his life.

He is survived by his brother, Joseph R. Ubiles of New York, his children, Aiyesha of Long Island, New York, Aiyoka Kellam, Daquon Smash of Atlanta, Georgia and son Rasheed of Seattle, Washington, grandchildren, Jordan, Teyana Ubiles of Auburn, New York and Shiann Kelly of Ithaca, New York who also gave him his first great grandchildren, Nevaeh McKoy, & Malachi Kelly, his sweetheart, Cleo Grace, Avril Brown, Betty Ubules and many friends. Tony Marks, whom he called his son of the heart, of Lead Hill, Arkansas, Anna and their daughter Phoenix, cared for him during his last months.

Walter was predeceased by both his parents, Joseph R. Ubiles, Sr. and mother, Norma Rhea Silvera Ubiles and son, Olukun Jose Ubiles.

Walter lived in New York State most of his life.  He was an outstanding football player and enjoyed watching the Sunday afternoon games on television.  He was a mentor to troubled teens and took many who needed a home into his.  He served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War.  He moved to Diamond City in 2017, where he invested in a restaurant business.  He united with the Lord of the Lake Lutheran Church June 17, 2018, where he attended regularly as long as he was able.

He loved watching action movies, riding his scooter, barbeques, and fishing.  He has continued to open his home to those who needed one.  He enjoyed the quiet life in Diamond City and the peacefulness of the waters of Bull Shoals Lake.

Diamond State Funerals has been entrusted with the cremation.  A Memorial Service will be held April 30, 2022 at the Lutheran Memorial Garden in Diamond City, Arkansas.

Obituary Preview: Michael Rex Salmon, 74, passed away April 5, 2022, in Harrison. He was born November 29, 1947, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Rex and Merle Salmon. Michael leaves his wife, Rae Ann Salmon, Daughter, Kim Carter, Son in-law, Tony Carter, his grandchild, Kelsea Lowery and her husband (Levi Lowery), his granddaughter, Maggie Salmon, 2 great grandchildren, Lainey Lowery, Rhett Lowery, brother, Pat Salmon and his wife (Pam Salmon).

Michael was an Arkansas Naïve born and raised in the Natural State. He went to Harrison high school and became a Truck Driver for Mass Merchandising for 25 plus years! He enjoyed camping on the White River in Cotter with his family. Family would play instruments at the campground and others would gather around and listen. Camping was a family bonding event everybody cherished! Michael loved to start every day with a glass of Pepsi. He enjoyed watching Animal Planet and The Andy Griffith Show. In 1965, Michael joined the navy and completed his contract as an E4.

Michael met his beloved wife in the most ordinary way! Rae Ann was a carhop at What-A-Burger and Michael was the customer who nonchalantly asked for her phone number. Michael will forever be remembered as a family man, jokester and animal lover! He always enjoyed buying fireworks, stuffing easter eggs, and playing Santa Claus for the kids. He was a kid at soul and always knew how to make everyone laugh. Later in life, He was known for taking care of the stray cats around the nursing home he lived at. He will be greatly missed and loved by so many.

Michael Salmon is preceded in death by; both his parents, Rex Salmon, Merle Salmon, his son, Michael Salmon, his three sisters, Debbie, Dinah, and Jane.

A private service will be held at a later date.

David Allan Kelley - September 24, 1942 - April 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: David Allan Kelley of Jasper AR was born September 24,1942 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston TX. The third child of John William Kelley and Florence Davis Kelley.

He was a graduate of Channelview High School, Class of 1961, where he was a member of the Math Club, Student Council, Hot Rod Club, and Band President. After high school he attended Lee College and Durham Radio-TV Electronic College. During high school he worked as a groundskeeper for the Hughes Tool Country Club, becoming a Life Guard as soon as possible!  After graduation, he started working as an installer, eventually working his way up to District manager for ADT Security Co. He lived and worked in the Channelview/ Houston area for 42 years. David moved to Newton County, Jasper AR in 1984 to become a caregiver for his parents. He got to spend 14 months with his dad and another 21 months with his mom. Upon his dad's death in 1986 he took over as church treasurer, and shortly thereafter he started the job he loved most, becoming the church's song leader! During the past two years, David was unable to attend worship, let alone have the breath to sing, but now we can find comfort knowing he is singing and rejoicing with the angels!

David is preceded in death by his parents, John William and Florence Davis Kelley; his son, Christopher Allan Kelley; brother-in-law, E.B. "Pat" Golden; sister-in-law, Vivian Pullin Kelley; niece, Sheryl Lynn Kelley; nephews: Wesley Kelley, John Warren Kelley and Jeffrey Golden. David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Kelley of the home; his daughter, Lisa Kelley Taylor and husband, Tim of Wayton; granddaughter, Logan Kelley and Kyle Mc Donald of Hasty; and granddaughter, Bailey Taylor of Wayton; his sister, Ruth Golden of Rowlett TX; his brother, John W. Kelley of Porter TX; and many other family and friends! David is being cremated per his wishes. A Memorial Service/ Celebration of Life will be held at the Jasper church of Christ on Saturday, April 23rd at 2:00

Roger Duane Dees - July 25, 1955 - March 30, 2022

Obituary Preview: Roger Duane Dees, son of Elmo and Norma (Edwards) Dees, was born on July 25th, 1955, at the Boone County Hospital.  As a young boy, he attended White Oak Baptist Church in Bergman, AR.  He graduated from Bergman High School in 1973.

He loved to play guitar and sing gospel music with his mother, a passion he held dear even into adulthood.  Roger was a skilled woodworker, welder and mechanic who lent his talents to Doy Marshall, Sutton Products and Edmonson Machine Shop.  He also owned R.D. and Sons. He rounded out his career as a truck driver which incorporated his love for travel.  During this time, he was able to visit all 48 states in the continental U.S.  Roger passed on his knowledge of mechanics to his sons and his love of gardening (inherited from his father) to his daughter.

Roger is preceded in death by his father Elmo, his mother Norma and infant sister Sandra.  He is survived by his wife Nancy, sons: Greg, Chad and Chris and daughter Mandy, his seven grand-children:  Zach and Jacob Dees, Lathain, Keira and Dalston Dees, Christian and Zoey Atchley and great-grandchild Grayson Dees.

A graveside service will be held at 2p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2022, at White Oak Cemetery, near Bergman, Arkansas.

Dortha worked alongside her husband, self-employed in the metal finishing business.  Her passion was flowers and her beautiful landscaping.  She also enjoyed auto racing, traveling the United States with her husband, Jack and relaxing on her sun porch.

In addition to her parents, Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Vogt, her sons Brad and Kevan Truett, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Pappas and Kelly Truett, stepchildren, Jack (Nancy), Bill (Mary) Vogt, daughters-in-law, Bonnie Truett and Cheryl Truett.  13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Obituary Preview: Jerry “Michael” McGarity, 43 of Rogersville MO, departed this life March 25 at his home.  Michael was born July 27, 1978, in Springfield Missouri to John Franklin and Jeanette McGarity.

Michael was raised in Boliver, Missouri but spent most of his adult life in the Springfield area. He leaves behind his wife Stephanie, son Jayce and daughter Addilyn. Brother, John (Brandy) McGarity of South Carolina, Cousin Theresa (Bernardo) and Aunt Joyce of Boliver.   He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Jennifer Arnold.

Michael was a caring RN of 21 years. His nursing included ICU, travel nursing and currently worked in the Federal Medical Center in Springfield Missouri.  Mike had a gentle and quiet spirit. His family was the love and joy of his life. His hobbies included farming, gardening, beekeeping, his chickens and his vast collection of houseplants. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.

Memorial services will be Saturday April 2 @ 2:00pm at the Arnold Cemetery in Harrison, AR (3592 Evergreen Lane).

Obituary Preview: Doris Gene Cross,66, passed away March 25, 2022, in Western Grove.  She was born in Mount Judea, Arkansas, to Verlin and Edna Cross. Doris leaves her daughters, Gloria, Tammy, several sisters and brothers, and many grandchildren.

Doris was born and raised in Arkansas. When it came to gardening, she had a huge green thumb. In the eyes of a cook and gardener, nothing tasted better than homegrown tomatoes! She always had her kids helping no matter how hot it was. Some of the greatest memories were made outdoors! Gardening brought so much joy to Doris’s life, but nothing could beat how happy her family made her. She had two sidekicks her daughter, Gloria, and her dog, Hoss, they went everywhere with her.

She loved everything that provided quality time with her loved ones. If you knew Doris, you knew Christmas shopping started in July. She loved giving gifts to her family and loved to see all the laughter and cheer.

Doris will be remembered for her spunkiness, perseverance, and loving heart! She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She is proceeded in death by both her parents, Verlin and Edna Cross, her first husband (Delmer Boen), Her second Husband (Tommy Gardener), Her children; Kayla Boen, Jamie Boen, her sisters; Charlene Reddell, Shirley Ewing, and her brother, Dallas Cross.

Pamela Ann Stone - March 26, 1954 - March 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: Pamela Ann ( Rea) Stone passed from this life on March 21, 2022 at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 67.

Pam was the youngest of six children born to the late Raymond & Imogene (Johnson) Rea in Searcy, Arkansas.  Although her family lived many places and finally settled in Harrison, Snowball was the place she would always call home. Pam became a mother to Angela Dawn “Angie” Randall in 1969 and she welcomed another daughter, Amanda Lynn “Mandy” Randall to her family in 1977. Pam loved her girls and their boys. She was not only “Nana” to her grandsons, Ty, Austin, and Trey, but to most of the nieces, nephews, and all the other kids she to whom opened her home and heart. Nana loved her family more than anything else. Pam’s friends and family will forever miss her smiles and laughter. She also prayed that everyone would know that the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. Pam was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Angie (Randall) Blackburn and Mandy (Randall) Fulton; brother, Ricky Don Rea; brother-in-law, Paul Sweeney; sister-in-law, Darlene Rea; and great-nephew Landon Naile. Pam leaves behind her grandsons and their families: Tyler Blackburn, wife Nikki, and soon-to-be great-grandson, Grayson Tyler Blackburn of Alpena; Austin Duvall, wife Sabrina, and great-granddaughter Quinn Dawn Duvall, of Blue Eye, MO;  and Trey Fulton of Harrison. She was a homemaker and mother of 7. She was a seamstress who made many of her children's clothes. She would pass time with her love of coloring or talking on the phone with friends, especially her best friend Beverly Callaway, who will miss her dearly.

She had the sweetest laugh in the world and anyone that heard it would at least smile, if not laugh with her. She was proceeded in death by her father,  John Raymond Courtney and her mother, Grace Pearl Bena, her husband Leo Kucera,  and two children, Tina Sammons and Monte Garnette Jr. Survivors are her children, Terry A Garnette,  Tracy K. Red and husband Terry Red, Toni D. Hubbard,  Todd E. Garnette and wife Beky, Neva Garnette-Kucera as well as her step children Randy Kucera and Lee Ann Miller. Obituary Preview: Wesley Paul Tilton, born November 6th, 1991 in Jackson, CA., the son of Wesley Charles Tilton and May E. Stonecypher, lived many years in Lodi, CA. and attended University Public School in Morada, CA.  He graduated from Valley Springs High school in Arkansas and attended North Arkansas College.

From a young age, he enjoyed weightlifting, the outdoor life and drawing.  He made the decision to join the United States Army and was a Blackhawk Helicopter Crew Chief.   He attended basic training at Fort Jackson and helicopter mechanic school at Fort Eustis VA.  He was awarded a certificate of achievement and distinguished graduate award.

He was selected for assignment for a special operations unit, in the 160th Airborne at Fort Campbell, KY., where he was assigned to a mission operations company.  During his time with the 160th, he served multiple locations in the U.S., Afghanistan, Iraq and Turkey.  He was awarded many medals including the Air Assault Badge.  He graduated the Warrior Leader Course, SEER school and Green Platoon.  He was promoted early and often during his military career.

He had a big heart and love for his family.   He passed from this life on March 19, 2022.  He leaves a son: Wesley Joe, parents, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and many cousins.

Patricia grew up and lived most of her life in Arkansas. She graduated from Harrison High School where she met her future husband, Dwain Harp, who was a member of the Harrison Goblin football team. She was married to her high school sweetheart for nearly 64 years!

Patricia was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church and loved her faith dearly. She worked at the Garment Factory and Walmart briefly. She mainly was a stay-at-home wife and mom. She was an excellent homemaker! She was very family oriented and had a huge heart. She made sure her family had warm meals made with love every day. Patricia was so good at knitting and crocheting she made all the children’s clothes. She spent her years caring for her family and she loved every bit of it. Some of the greatest memories were made camping by bull shoals lake.

She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She is proceeded in death by both her parents, Lowell and Juanita Crow, her daughter, Cheryl Campbell, her grandson, Stephen Miller.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Throughout her youth she loved being outdoors; camping, fishing, and playing her guitar. She has always enjoyed the simple things in life. She graduated high school and a few years later she moved to Arkansas. She attended college at Arkansas State University of Mountain Home and received her associates degree.

She will forever be known as, a homemaker, Mother, reader, and animal lover. She stayed home and raised her one and only son, Jeremiah Morris, and often you found her reading Stephen King novels and adoring her service dogs named Lil Bit and Lotta Bit. If Ruth was not home, she was out fishing or camping with her best friend, Erin Rodgers, who later became one of her care takers in her final years.

She will be remembered for her orneriness and goofiness. She never had a filter but boy ole boy she loved to be the center of attention! If you were close to Ruth, you would always get that special phone call, “Hey, guess what! SNOW, SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!” It made her the happiest woman alive to see it snow.

Ruth was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She is proceeded in death by both her parents, Jack and Lois Kapelski.
