Alice May Bowersox - October 19, 1927 - April 05, 2022

Departed: 04/05/2022 (Lakeview)
Obituary Preview: Alice May Bowersox passed away peacefully at her home in Lakeview, Oregon on April 5, 2022.
She was born to Alton and Hilda (Newman) Miller on October 19, 1927, in Ellensburg, Washington.  Alice grew up and went through school in Ellensburg, WA where she graduated from high school, and while in her late teens she met Howard Bowersox while he was on leave from the Navy.  Howard was from Pennsylvania but when he met Alice, he knew she was the one for him. His Dad tried to get him interested in local girls, but he courted Alice by driving clear across the United States on a regular basis and they married a short time later in 1946. They were married for 49 years until his passing.
They lived and raised their family in various places in Northern California. Alice attended college and got her bachelor’s degree.  Alice enjoyed being a pastor’s wife and she taught Sunday school and played piano for the church. She was a woman of great wisdom and compassion always willing to give Godly advice. She loved the Lord and was kind to everyone she met. Alice started working for US Bank in Redding, CA and in 1979 when they moved to Lakeview she continued with the band until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed people and her job so much that she went back to the bank part-time for several years until retiring again.  Alice wasn’t one to slow down, so she went to work at the senior center with the energy assistance program helping people get their power bills paid.  She had a servant’s heart and was a nurturing soul.  Before raising her children, she had foster children, and then in 1979 when her daughter was murdered, she took on her three grandchildren who were ages 6,4, and 1 at the time to raise. Family was important to Alice.
Alice had lots of talents, she loved music, playing the piano and singing were some of her very favorite pastimes.  She played at the church until December of 2021. She used to play weekly at the nursing home for over 10 years, and wedding and funeral on request. She could read music but also play by ear many times only after hearing a song sung once, she taught piano and loved to share her love of music with others. She was a member of the Sage Brush Echoes for over 35 years. Alice was an excellent cook and baker she was known for her famous "Bowersox Buns."  She made homemade bread every week for many years for her family. Alice enjoyed many crafts, including crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress sewing clothes for her family and dolls, she made sock dolls and enjoyed cross-stitch. She also enjoyed china painting, and ceramics and made beautiful porcelain dolls. Gardening and her flower beds were something she was proud of; she had a real green thumb! But above all that what she really loved was the Lord! She took classes to teach and translate the bible into other languages. She wanted to educate people about the gospel even if she had to learn a different language. Every morning she had her cup of coffee and time with the Lord.  She pastored the Open Bible Church from 2016 until it changed hands in March of 2022. She gave selflessly to the church and its missions. Alice was a woman of God who never wavered in her belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and her Savior.
Alice is preceded by; her parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, her husband Howard, and her daughter Wanda Jean.
She is survived by; her son Alton (Deborah) Bowersox, daughter Nancy Underhill, Six grandchildren Rebbecca (Darek) Bray, Timothy (Amy) Atkinson, Dennis Atkinson, Ryan Underhill, Jessica (Jordan) Underhill-Shiveley, and Sarah Bowersox. 10 great-grandchildren William Underhill, Rachael (Cody) Vause-Burns, Mary Alice Atkinson and her fiance Donovan Krager, Matthew McCaffery, Courtney Atkinson, Caiden Atkinson, Cameron Atkinson, Zaide Atkinson, Zakkery Atkinson, Caleb Atkinson. 7 Great great-grandchildren, Zorina Atkinson, Evangeline Olmstead, Thaylan Giroux, Azura Atkinson, Roy Burns, and two bonus Zinnia and Christopher Krager.
We all love her very much, and she will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Alice on Monday, April 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Foursquare Community Church (formerly known as the Open Bible Church) at 264 N P Street in Lakeview, OR. There will be a potluck lunch at the fellowship hall following the interment in the sunset park cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Alice’s memory to Gideon’s International, PO Box 5137, Klamath Falls, OR 97601, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Donald Earl Stacey - October 22, 1944 - April 04, 2022

Departed: 04/04/2022 (Lakeview)
Obituary Preview: Donald Earl Stacey, a wonderful husband and protective father, lived his life on the road.  He loved to travel, never wanting to be confined to one place for too long.  On April 4th, 2022, Don's travels in this world came to an end.
Don's journey started on October 22, 1944, born at home in Forest Hill, Idaho to his mother, Patricia (Maul), and delivered by his father, William Stacey.  He was the second child of seven and would go on to become the father of seven himself, the grandfather to twelve, and the great-grandfather to one (so far).
Animals and small children are often instinctually drawn to good people, and they were always comfortable with Don.  He loved nature, and though he held many jobs throughout his life, he was most at home in the woods, working in various parts of the lumber industry.
Not all of Don's journeys were easy or gentle.  Don volunteered to serve two tours in Vietnam.  Like many that have served, Don bore the weight of his service, both physically and emotionally.  In spite of whatever pains it may have caused him, he was always proud of his time in the Army.  His pride of service affected his children, leading to most of them following in his footsteps to serve their country.
It is difficult to capture all of Don's life in a few sentences, for two reasons.  First, he lived a full life filled with adventure and stories too varied and long to easily summarize.  Second, he didn't like to draw all of the attention to himself.  He was a private person that quietly touched the lives of many.
Don is preceded by two brothers and a daughter.
He is survived by his wife Susan and six of their children.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Don at a later date. Don loved being in the outdoors so the family will wait until they can celebrate his life outside.
Memorial contributions can be made in Don’s memory to the VFW Post 4070, PO Box 134, Lakeview, OR 97630, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Roy Frederic Palmer - August 16, 1948 - April 02, 2022

Departed: 04/02/2022 (Lakeview)
Obituary Preview: Roy F. Palmer, of Lakeview, Oregon passed away on April 2, 2022, in Bend, Oregon, with complications from a major heart attack.  He will be dearly missed by Donna, Don, Cody, Eli, and a great many friends.  Anyone saddened by his passing may find comfort in one of his favorite sayings “It will feel better when it stops hurting.”
Roy was born to Robert and Helen (Severns) Palmer on August 16, 1948, in Stockton, California.
Roy and his wife Donna raised their two sons Don and Cody Palmer at various ranches in Northern California.  Enjoying a beautiful life with many friends and family.  Always happy to teach the boys and later grandson Eli about ranch life and everything that goes along with it.
Among Roy’s favorite times was the yearly family hunting trip in the Tahoe backcountry.  Packing in on horseback and staying for a week.  Even being miles from any type of road, steak and lobster was still the traditional dinner the first night at camp.
Roy took pride in his job, from managing ranches to being in the auto auctions from California to Vegas until retirement.  Roy and Donna relocated to Lakeview Oregon to be closer to their son Cody.  Roy spent many days at the ranch or tagging along to a branding.  He liked our small town and was a member of the Elks & Eagles Lodges where he could be found most evenings with good friends and good whiskey telling good stories.
Memorial contributions can be made in Roy’s memory to the Youth Mentor Program, 357 North L Street, Lakeview, OR 97630, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is overseeing the arrangements.  Condolences may be expressed, or the guest book signed online at www.desertrosefuneralchapel.com

He was grateful for his thoughtful and helpful neighbors. One of his favorite days every year was branding day at the ranch when the neighbors would come help and then he would BBQ tri-tip and beans for all of his helpers, complete, of course, with his favorite drink, a Manhattan, or two, or three.
Another favorite event for Alan was the Lakeview Round-Up, which he attended many times through the years. He loved being able to visit with his friends in the ranching community.

John Allen Glaspey - March 10, 1947 - January 18, 2022

Departed: 01/18/2022 (Lakeview)
Obituary Preview: Rancher and farm store specialists John Glaspey passed away on January 18th, 2022, at the age of 75 of natural causes.
John graduated from Thurston High School in 1965. Enjoying subjects like math and FFA while he attended school.
After school, John married four times. But no woman could ever tame "The White Stallion".
Always being a hard worker and enjoying the outdoors, John wasn't afraid to work hard. From a hunting guide in Canada to working for big R stores for many years. Known as " Big R John" to most, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of ranching with others.
From quarter horses to cattle, John knew it all. With a passion for ranching, he purchased land and retired in Christmas Valley, Oregon. He spent his years there buying, raising, and selling cattle. For John, it was the simple pleasures in life. To him, there was nothing better than a cold beer and a good rodeo to watch.
John is survived by his children Cindy, Lee, Johnny, and Justin. Also, by his grandchildren Dylan, Dymond, Ansley, Lincoln, and Maddox.
The family will have a service at a later time and spread the ashes of the departed. One More Day Even with our progress
Some things stay the same.
Cattle still need brandin'.
There are horses still to tame.
Cowboys will always ride.
They'll head, heal, and haze. Making lasting memories, These are their "good ol' days." As the lonesome sun is setting, On our last sky of blue, We'll think back on good times and friends
who helped dreams come true. The only favor I would ask before I'm called away, is let me be a cowboy again,
for one more day. Thank you,
Johnny Glaspey.
