Diane Davey - August 05, 1944 - January 14, 2024

Departed: 01/14/2024 (Florence)
Obituary Preview: Diane Marie Davey, 79, was embraced by family as she peacefully passed away on January 14, 2024, after a long courageous battle with diabetes.
Diane grew up in Riverside, NJ, moved to Germany, and settled in Edgewater Park, NJ where she lived for 58 years. Side by side with her loving husband Richard, she built her family with love, hard work, and pure determination. Diane wasn’t afraid to take on any job for the benefit of her family. She worked as a babysitter and night shift clerk at a hotel before her 20-year career as an exports clerk at Thomas and Betts. When the company relocated to the South, she set off to college at the age of 50. Diane completed her degree in medical records technology at Burlington County Community College while working as a teaching assistant. She worked in the medical field until her retirement. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Wiley Christian Retirement Community in Marlton, NJ. Diane participated in many activities including water aerobics, book group, the Wiley Auxiliary, prayer group, field trips with her community and her favorite activity, developing friendships. Her previous hobbies included putting together complex puzzles, drawing birds, playing the guitar, and playing dolls with her great-granddaughter.
Diane was a remarkable woman who always put her friends and family first. She endured more adversity than most but handled each challenge with grace and dignity. Diane saw the best in people and thrived on helping others. She was a beacon of light for many and a person whose love for others was unmatched. She was everyone’s good friend and the best mother, Nanny, sister, and aunt. She was a gentle, kind soul who earned her place in the book of people who made the world around them a better place. Diane was always thankful to be able to navigate the joys and sorrows of life with her high school friends. She looked forward to their weekly breakfasts together and summer trips to the beach. She enjoyed celebrating their families as much as she did her own. Later in life she referred to them as her “other mothers” because they always ensured that she was taken care of, and they would check up on her daily.
Diane’s biggest joy in life was her family. She could often be seen sharing the accomplishments of her siblings, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In her early years she enjoyed ski and camping trips with friends and family. In her later years, she enjoyed taking trips to Maryland to visit her grandchildren. When she couldn’t visit, she ensured that she watched every video and liked every picture on social media. Diane was always the person you could count on to be front and center for all the important and minor life moments. Diane and her husband shared a love of Christmas and being surrounded by her entire family. Through the years Diane’s home was a place of refuge for many members of her family and she took them all in with open arms without hesitation.
Diane is survived by her daughter Lisa Bromley-Goforth, her granddaughters Diane Parker and Jennifer (Jared) Drogose, great granddaughter, Lily Coble, her brother Michael O’Neill (Mark Callahan) and sister Kathleen (Jay) Rubenstone as well as her nieces and nephews. Diane is predeceased by her loving husband Richard Davey, daughter Sherry Davey, sister Patricia O’Neill and brother Eugene O’Neill.

Richard Siddall Dennison, Sr. - Unknown - November 12, 2023

Departed: 11/12/2023 (Florence)
Obituary Preview: Richard Siddall Dennison, Sr, funeral director and past president of the NJ State Funeral Directors Association, passed into God’s welcoming arms and eternal grace and love on November 12, 2023. Born in Delanco to Robert Earl and Grace (Randall) as the youngest of 7 children, the family moved to Florence, where he was raised and spent the rest of his life.
Graduating from Florence Township Memorial High School, attending Rider College and ultimately going to American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, becoming a funeral director in 1965, his life’s work was destined.
Richard was a true member of the community of Florence, traveling each day to Newark and Pennsauken to further his knowledge of his trade before opening his own funeral home in the late 1970’s in his own town. As his success grew, he opened a second funeral home in Vincentown, and then a third location in Burlington Township and became an influential member of those communities, as well.
There are countless things Richard has done for the community of Florence and beyond to improve the township and the lives of the people in town. To say he was kind, loving, generous and spiritual does not even begin to explain how wonderful of a man he was. Countless times, he would do anything for anyone because he sincerely cared about his fellow neighbor. In addition to the type of person he was, he was also on the Township Council, he founded the Florence Garden Club, named streets (Wilbur Henry Drive and Shaver Drive) as well as R.D. Wood Park in Florence during his council appointment. He was a member of the Masons, the First Wesleyan Church of Florence, historical societies, many civic associations in various towns around Burlington County and was extremely well-liked by all.
Richard was driven by the loving work he did with his business, treating each family as his own. He would make kind gestures and speak from his heart, making each and every service unique to the person he was honoring. He had a special gift that way. He was such a phenomenal orator and a wonderful singer, also. In fact, when his church was between pastors, he stepped in to be the minister and lead services for the congregation. He truly was one of a kind. He never did not work. He would often say, "Even when I sit in my chair with the tv on, I'm still going through paperwork." And that he did, while also trying to enjoy his shows like Blue Bloods, that he missed watching with his son, and pretty much anything on ABC, from Jeopardy to 20/20 to Jimmy Kimmel. He'd of course record them all because he never had time to watch them because he never stopped working. His work was his passion and he truly loved being a man of the people. But, no matter how busy he was, he would make the time for whoever needed it, always being there for his family and just anyone who needed a helping hand or a kind gesture. There will never be anyone like him. He never wanted a gift or to be made a fuss over. He just simply didn't need those things to be happy. He was happy when others were happy and for those who weren't, he'd pray every single day for them and do anything he could to help. He was as close to a living saint as anyone could be.
His proudest moment besides the birth of his children and grandchild, surely was when he was voted in as president of the Funeral Directors Association in 1984. He took so much pride in being a funeral director, a man of the people, a father and family man, a man of true faith who just wanted to do right by his Lord and Savior. His legacy will live on forever and his family will follow in his footsteps to keep his work in his life and in his business going exactly as he would wish.
Richard is predeceased by his adoring son Richard S. Dennison, Jr. ("Richie"), whom he missed tremendously since the day he passed; his parents Robert and Grace; siblings Robert, Audrey, Isabelle, Marilyn, and David; and other family members. He is survived by his ever-devoted daughter Doreen aka NeeNee as he always called her; daughter Stacy (Dominick); his grandchild and pride and joy Anthony; and his Elizabeth, best friends ‘til the end. He is also survived by his loving brother, John, countless other family members and so many great friends.
Services will be held at Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St. Florence, NJ 08518 on Wednesday 11/29/23 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday 11/30/23 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday 12/1 with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, 11 AM service at the funeral home, burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Cinnaminson, NJ. Richard loved flowers, so anyone wishing to order an arrangement, can order directly on dennisonfh.com on his obituary page. A meaningful contribution to petition for the town council to erect a street sign with his name for all he has done for the town of Florence would be greatly appreciated. You can forward the request to 711 Broad St. Florence, NJ 08518 Attn: Town Council or attend any council meeting with the next ones being 12/06 and 12/13.

David W. Miller - December 24, 1936 - October 08, 2023

Departed: 10/08/2023 (Florence)
Obituary Preview: David 'Dave' Windsor Miller, born 1936 in Roebling, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 8th, 2023. He was 86 years old.
Dave was a proud veteran of the US Navy, and entered service at the age of eighteen, before being honorably discharged to focus on being a husband and father. He truly enjoyed what he always called, ‘hard work’, and held many jobs throughout the years including those at Fairless Steel and the A&P Warehouse. His true talents were best showcased during his tenure as the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds at Bordentown Regional School District. Dave held this position for twenty years, during which he became a fixture at each school building. In addition to his official duties, he hand-crafted dozens of woodworked items for classrooms and offices, most of which remain in use today.
Dave was a beloved son, husband, dad, poppop, brother, uncle, cousin, and a fierce friend. He loved Frank Sinatra, a ‘Pittsburgh’ rare steak, and knew how to have a good time; often the first one on the dance floor and the last to leave it. He was never without a pencil in his front pocket or a photo of his latest creation. Those who met him, loved him, and he left a lasting impression with his sweet nature, words of wisdom, and caring spirit. After retiring, Dave spent most of his time woodworking, designing his pieces from scratch for friends and family. While his family has and cherishes many of his creations, they were not able to keep track of everything he’s made over the years. If you have an item that Dave made for you, the family would love a photo of the item along with any stories or memories. These can be sent to: davemillermemories@gmail.com.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marjorie Miller (née Deiterich); daughters Sharon Pinter (son-in-law Jeffrey Pinter) and Linda Brown (son-in-law Dean Brown); grandchildren Mary Pinter and Benjamin Pinter; granddaughter-in-law Mary; great-granddaughter Evelyn; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Mary Miller; brother Herbert Miller; and sisters Gloria Mognanski and Phyllis McCullough.
Private services are being held at the family home.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennison Funeral Home Florence, NJ.

Anna M. Zimmerman - May 07, 1945 - September 15, 2023

Departed: 09/15/2023 (Florence)
Obituary Preview: Anna Zimmerman, born some time ago, has passed after an intensive and fierce battle with cancer. Sword drawn, she ran in, shouting some fabulously colorful curse words, to fight the bitter battle. Sadly, she tired and, after being struck a mortal blow, succumbed to her wounds early on the morning of September 15th. Born in England to Muriel (née Singleton) and Leopold Lachowicz, Anna was a brilliant, creative woman who surrounded herself with lush gardens and a warm,
colorful home. She taught herself anything she didn't know, making her own dulcimer, building stone fences, and turning any space, indoor or out, into fantastical, beautiful escapes.
She raised two loving daughters, Kathleen and Gwendolyn, who were lucky enough to inherit her love of life, her sense of humor and talent for including curse words into everyday conversation without offending anyone.
She touched the lives of many, and imparted wisdom at every opportunity, wanted or not. She was generous, helpful, giving and one hell of a cook. She was a mom to more people than she realized and a steady influence on her nephew, Ed, who shared her love of music, literature and off-color humor.
Anna spent much of her later years with her dogs, and there were many, her neighbor, Laurie, who kept her safe and laughing, her friends, and the love of her grandchildren, Frank and Peri.
Hers was a life well lived and well loved. She is survived by her brother, Leo Lachowicz, her daughters Kathleen (Stan) Schoeberl, Gwendolyn (Sam) Leonardi, her nephew, Ed Lachowicz, her grandchildren Frank Schoeberl and Peri Leonardi, and friends and family both local and across the pond. Her passing leaves a spot not easily filled.
Anna wouldn't want anyone to cut or send flowers in her name, believing flowers should be enjoyed where they live. Should you want to donate to an organization in her name, Anna would love knowing that you did so to an animal shelter of your choosing.
Anna didn't want a service or funeral. Her family does hope that you will find a beautiful garden, sit down, enjoy its beauty, with your pet if you have one, and relive some good memories of her.

Fern was born and raised in Roebling, New Jersey and lived there all her life. She was a member of Holy Assumption Parish in Roebling and also enjoyed working for several years in town, as a cafeteria worker in all of the schools. At one time or another, she was more than likely every student in town’s lunch lady at either Roebling, Marcella L. Duffy, Holy Assumption or Florence Township Memorial High School. Once she retired from working in the Florence Township School System, she enjoyed being a homemaker for the rest of her life.
Fern was a devoted wife to Thomas with whom she was blessed to have many wonderful years of marriage; a loving mother to two sons and a doting grandmother to three grandchildren. Over the years, Fern was an avid traveler and camping enthusiast. She enjoyed traveling cross-country many times with her husband, taking different routes each way to see as many new and different sites as they could. She and her husband went to every state in the US (except two, by choice), even taking a cruise to Alaska. On one of their trips, they ventured out of the US and went straight up through to Canada.

Joel Mason Clark - July 28, 2023 - July 28, 2023

Departed: 07/28/2023 (Florence)
Obituary Preview: Baby Joel Mason Clark entered and passed into God's loving and eternal care on July 28th, 2023. He leaves behind to always be the guardian angel for his mother, Dominique Briggs; father Cedric Clark; three siblings Ava, Iva and Iyrene; and his loving grandmother. When God calls his little children To dwell with Him above, We sometimes question The wisdom of His love, For no heartache compares with The death of a small child Who does so much to make our world Seem wonderful and mild Perhaps God tires of calling The aged to His fold So He picks a rosebud Before it can grow old God knows that we need them, So He takes but few To make the land of Heaven More beautiful to view Believing this is difficult Still somehow we must try, The saddest word mankind knows Will always be "Goodbye." So when a little child departs, We who are left behind Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.
The family has chosen to have a private service for immediate family only.
