Anthony Glenn Melton known to his friends as “Joker” was born on August 5, 1973 to the late Teressa Winslow Melton and Billy Ray Melton in Ahoskie, NC. Anthony took his final road trip on February 11, 2021 in  Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Sarah Sylvia Blount - June 26, 1931 - January 23, 2021

Departed: 01/23/2021 (Gatesville)
Obituary Preview: "ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Hunter-Blount Families" "Don't forget the family prayer, oh Jesus come to meet you there, when we gather in the evening, Don't forget the FAMILY PRAYER...prayer will make you love one another, prayer will teach you right from wrong...please don't forget the FAMILY PRAYER..."
PRECIOUS MEMORIES oh How they linger... A Time of Grief
On Saturday the twenty-third day of January in the year of twenty-twenty one, the last offspring of the late Charlie and Essie Hunter traded in all of her Earthly garments to receive her finest pieces of garments, her robe and crown. Mrs. Sarah Sylvia Hunter-Blount transitioned from earth to Glory, peacefully at the Sentara Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC. A Time to Celebrate
On Friday the twenty-six day of nineteen thirty one the late Mr. and Mrs. Hunter decided to name their beautiful baby girl Sarah. This name allowed her to be be predestined for greatness with the name translation meaning princess, noblewoman, lady, happy and joy. Sarah lived up to her name and exemplified every aspect of her name throughout her eighty-nine years of life. A Time of Worshipping
Sarah was reared in a Christian home where music was always being heard and or sung. Her love for music led her to become a pianist and as well as a song writer, her soft spoken talking voice shocked many when she began to sing one of her own original songs during praise and worship. Her Christian background began in the Bagley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Winfall, NC. Later in life she became a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, NC. Any time she was in the house of the Lord, she would be dressed from head to toe, with her signature hat (or what we like to call her crown). A time of Love
Sarah was married to the love of her life the late John Blount for over fifty years before the Lord called him home. The two shared many years of marital bliss as well as working side by side in their business, known to so many as Blount's Confectionary Shop in Elizabeth City, NC. A Time of Following Dreams
Sarah had a love for education, which is why she obtained her degree in Education from what is now known as Elizabeth City State University. For many years Sarah was an educator in Cape Charles, Virginia. She spent many hours traveling back and forth from Elizabeth City to Virginia until her retirement. A Time to Remember
This beautiful life will be remembered on Friday, the twenty-ninth day of January twenty-twenty one at the noon hour. All services will be conducted at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Elizabeth City, NC, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Words of comfort will be presented to the family by her Pastor, Rev. Antonio Williams.
Due to the current Pandemic that we are being faced with at this time, known as Covid-19, we will be practicing social distancing, and all proper safety protocols will be strictly enforced (including but not limited to wearing of proper face coverings) by all attendees, during the service. A Time of Family
Sarah was known to many as "Ma", Grandma", "Aunt Nip", "Mrs. Blount", and "The Dressing Lady".
Being the last sibling of Lillie, Susie, Esther, Charlie, Rufus and Melvin she became the Matriarch of the Hunter Family. There was never a time that her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews couldn't call her and she wasn't there. She took pride in talking to her family and checking on them daily. "Aunt Nip" had a since of humor and loved to laugh and tell a joke from time to time. "Aunt Nip" loved when her nieces would come around and had high heels on, she would tell them, "Make sure you leave those with me, I'm sure I can walk on them."  If you were ever around her and were hungry she would offer to buy you a "frank", hours before her untimely demise she was still asking her niece and nephew if she could get them a "frank". Her love for all of her family will be missed, especially her affectious smile and her E.F. Hutton way of life (when she talked, we all stopped and listened). A Time of Legacy
Sarah leaves eight-nine years of a well lived life to her son-John Blount of Goldsboro, NC; three grandchildren-Tice, Crystal and Lorenzo; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, Church family and friends. A Time of Choice The Blount Family, found it fitting and didn't think twice about entrusting "Aunt Nip" in the capable hands of her family of the Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home. They know that every one of "Aunt Nips" wishes and desires will be honored by her niece at DJSMFH. The DJSMFH professional staff will assist the Hunter-Blount Families during their time of bereavement and beyond through unprecedented, sincere, heartfelt, compassionate and personalized detailed services. Please continue to uplift the immediate family of Sarah "Aunt Nip" Hunter-Blount, and all connected families through words of comfort, prayers, virtual hugs, thought or a smile!
