Charles "Chuck" I. Danielson - June 22, 1931 - April 17, 2022

Obituary Preview: Charles (Chuck) Irwin Danielson, 90, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois. Being a man of faith, Easter Sunday was the perfect day for him to enter the gates of Heaven. Chuck was born June 22, 1931, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Carl O. Danielson & Ida (Strand) Danielson. Chuck was united in marriage in 1956 to Virginia Ruth “Ginny” Perau after meeting on a train while he was stationed at Fort Drum, New York. Chuck was a proud alum of Luther College where he received a BA in Economics and Business Administration. After graduating from college, Chuck entered the Army in October of 1953, and was honorably discharged in October 1955. He served in the Army Military Reserves for an additional 8 years. Chuck passed the Certified Public Accountant exam and was a part of the Iowa Chapter of Certified Public Accountants. Chuck has been a faithful and active member of the First Lutheran Church in Keokuk since 1964. In 1964, Chuck brought his family and made his home in Keokuk, Iowa. He held several senior level accounting positions until he entered a partnership and was the Chief Financial Officer of Keokuk Ferro-Sil until his retirement. As a young man, Chuck was adventurous and loved his 1941 Harley, he also learned to fly Cessna airplanes, sail and loved cars, spending many a weekend tinkering in the backyard unless the Cubs were playing. In his later years he and his wife loved to travel, visiting many places in the U.S. with a memorable 55th anniversary trip to Hawaii. Chuck enjoyed learning and gathered materials on a variety of topics to read and discuss with family. Chuck was past President of Junior Achievement of Keokuk, and affiliated with the Keokuk Bridge Study Commission, Keokuk Chamber of Commerce, plus the Keokuk Public School Curriculum Advisory Committee. He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club, American Legion, and Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks. Chuck is survived by one son, Michael (Kathy) Danielson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, two daughters, Allison Danielson of Newport Beach, California and Lori Danielson of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandsons, Joshua (Marcie Haller) Danielson of Phoenix, Arizona and Nathan (Kayla) Danielson and one great-grandson, Conner Danielson of Gallatin, Tennessee; one brother-in-
law, Donald Ash (Tracy) of Kansas City, Kansas and one sister-in-law, Donna Marie Ash (Russ) Rediger of Las Cruces, New, Mexico and extended family in the Decorah, Iowa area. Chuck is preceded in death by his wife. Funeral services will be held at 9 am on Friday, April 22, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa. For those unable to attend, the funeral will be livestreamed at www.dejongsfuneralhome.com. Burial with military honors will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa. Anita Lee Weston - September 20, 1948 - April 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: Anita Lee (Runnells) Weston, age 73, of Hillsdale, Michigan, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022, in Keokuk, Iowa.
Anita was born in Lincoln, Maine on September 20, 1948 to Hugh and Winnifred (Bishop) Runnells.
Anita’s siblings include: Evelyn (Runnells) Crouse of Reading, MI and David Runnells of Hillsdale, MI.
Anita shared many stories from her childhood with her siblings and cousins running around the Bishop properties and farm in Hillsdale, MI. One of her favorite memories was of swimming in the pond with her Bishop cousins. Anita was an avid swimmer and boasted of having to swim across Lake Baw Beese in order to be a lifeguard at the lake.
Anita graduated from Hillsdale, MI in 1966, then continued onto college at Ferris State University where she met her husband, Richard Weston. In 1980 Anita graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and in 1989, she graduated with a Master of Arts from the University of Iowa.
Anita was employed with Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In 1982 she was transferred to The University of Iowa where she was an administrative assistant for the Dean of Nursing. She also worked for Southeastern Community College and Newton, Iowa Hospital and Coldwater, MI hospital.
Anita enjoyed being around people and was always up for fun. She spent much time with Richard’s family taking on many more sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews as her own, and loved her time with her mother-in-law, Lois.  She enjoyed boating and hanging out at the Keokuk Yacht Club with friends. She also enjoyed golfing at the Keokuk Elks Club. She had spent many years in Keokuk, Iowa cheering on and volunteering to help the wrestling team as her husband coached and her son, Rick, wrestled. She enjoyed camping trips and there were many evenings shared around a bonfire with her children and grandchildren. In 2016 she moved back to Michigan where she spent much of her time tending to her yard and spending time with her son Rick, working on projects around the house and watching football. GO BLUE! She went antiquing with her daughter, Shannon, as well as making some trips to Maryland for visits with Shannon, and enjoying an outing to Preakness to watch horse racing.  She also enjoyed trips to Florida to visit her sister, Evelyn. She spent her last several years playing trivia and enjoying time spent with friends and eating out with her companion, Gary Kies. In October 2021, she moved back to Keokuk, Iowa and enjoyed her time with her daughter, Candy, and her family. She was adamant about watching The Wheel of Fortune each night with her son-in-law Gary, as they competed to solve the puzzles. She loved having her great grandchildren visit and dancing with Baby Ev. As the weather started to warm up, Anita enjoyed sitting outside enjoying the views of the eagles and the Mississippi River. She was able to celebrate many family birthdays during her time in Keokuk and spent a wonderful weekend in March surrounded by family, celebrating Shannon’s birthday.
Anita is survived by her children: Shannon (Terry) Welihan, Candy (Gary) Berquam, and Rick Weston. Her grandchildren: Allison (Josh) Roberts, Kourtney (Holli) Baldwin,  Rachel Lovell, Mckenzie Berquam, Raegan (Benett)  McDonald , Austin Berquam, Morgan (Chris) Stanfield, and Justus Berquam. Great Grandchildren: Arie, Thayden, and Everly Roberts; Murphy and Paisley McDonald; Meriella Farve; and                Carter and Gabrielle Stanfield. Siblings: Evelyn (Paul) Crouse, David (Paula) Runnells.
Anita is preceded in death by her grandson, Chase Lovell; her husband, Richard Weston; and her Aunt Jean Bishop, who raised her.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm. at Van-Horn Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Memorials can be made to The Mental Health Alliance in honor of her grandson, Chase David Dalton Lovell.

George Edward Sackman, Jr. - December 05, 1938 - March 31, 2022

George was born December 5, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of George and LaVera (Collier) Sackman, Sr.  On November 27, 1965, he was united in marriage to Joyce Marie (Gilpin) Sackman.  She preceded him in death March 6, 2022.  He serviced in the U.S. Army in his younger years receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1962.  George worked many years at Sheller-Globe where he retired from.  In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, mushroom hunting, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
George is survived by three children, Janet (John) Pearl, George (Manny) Sackman III, Loretta (Vernon) McKay; two sisters, Judy Muegge and Julia Mayes; grandchildren, Wesley (Christina) Pearl, Crystal Pearl, Jessica (Josh) Crenshaw, Shilah Kiger, Lauren (Lance) Buckert, Brant Sackman, Tyler Sackman, Steven McKay, William (Cassie) McKay and Justin McKay; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, one great grandchild; and several other family members.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Sara L. Heston, 83, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at The Madison in Fort Madison.
Sara was born on April 2, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Edward L. and Kathryn A. (Ricker) Chambers. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1956, where her dad was on the school board and handed her the diploma. In 1961 she was united in marriage to Robert Heston. They were later divorced. Sara was employed as a bookkeeper at John W. Sammons Construction Company, Inc. for twenty years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Keokuk, where she sang in the choir for many years. Sara was very intelligent and well-read. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles, the harder the better. All the reading she did paid off, because she rarely lost at her favorite game, Scrabble. She had a knack for making words rhyme, and wrote a collection of poems. She would use those poems on her homemade Christmas cards, which her children would draw. Two of her favorite things were car rides and music, but her top priority was her family.
Sara is survived by her son Donald G. Heston of Keokuk; her daughter Cheryl A. Heston of Keokuk; her sister Anita Terpening of La Mesa, California; two grandchildren: Donovan Heston of Keokuk and Jonathan Heston of Fort Madison; and one great-granddaughter on the way.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Donald, Norris and Gene Chambers and her sister Eileen Fader.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 am to noon, directly before the service.

Randall Gray - August 31, 1956 - March 15, 2022

Randall was born on August 31, 1956, in California, the son of Jack and Bonnie Wheaton. On February 14, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sharon Coker in Gillette, Wyoming. She survives. Randall worked on oil rigs and as a contractor. He had a free spirit and was a self-described wanderer, making his way throughout the west coast. He was known for being able to do a little bit of everything and always liked to stay busy. In his free time, Randall collected rocks and key rings.
Randall is survived by his wife Sharon Gray of Keokuk; two sons: LeeRoy Gray of Keokuk, Iowa, and Jeremiah Gray of Fort Madison, Iowa; his daughter Brandy Gray of Washington; four siblings: Lillie, Jim, Darleana and Roseanna; and nine grandchildren.
Randall is preceded in death by his parents and his brother George.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mary Kathleen Parmeter - March 25, 1921 - March 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Mary Kathleen Cummings Parmeter, 100, was welcomed into Heaven on Monday, March 7, 2022, after a long and happy life.  Kathleen was born on March 25, 1921, in Burlington, Iowa, to Leon Raymond and Florence Rose (Bulger) Cummings.  She was the fifth of eleven siblings.  She attended Burlington Catholic Schools, graduating from St. Paul’s High School.  Kathleen worked at Schramm’s Department Store in Burlington and the Ordinance Plant in West Burlington during the second World War.
On January 6, 1945, Kathleen married her sweetheart, John Richard Parmeter.  They moved to San Angelo, Texas, where John completed his military service.  In late 1945, Kathleen and John returned to Burlington where she began her lifelong mission of making a home and caring for her family.  In 1951, the family moved to Keokuk where Kathleen lived for the next 70 years.
Kathleen was a member of All Saints Church in Keokuk.  In keeping with her servant nature, she devoted much of her time to her church community.  Over the years, Kathleen served on the Altar Society, sang in the choir, counted collections, and was a lector and lay minister.  She was a prayer warrior; her faith was unshakable and sustained her over her lifetime.
Kathleen was an avid bridge player well into her 90’s.  She loved watching college sports, especially the University of Iowa and Iowa State.  She also loved baseball and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan.  Kathleen enjoyed playing games of all sorts, reading, and gardening.  Being surrounded by and spending time with her family gave her more joy than anything else in life.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband John, son Bob Parmeter, and granddaughter Madeline Shodeen Parmeter.  She is survived by eleven children:  Tom Parmeter of Ennepetal, Germany, Maryann Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dick Parmeter of Keokuk, John (Anita) Parmeter of Des Moines, Peg Parmeter of Houston, Texas, Peter Parmeter of Keokuk, Bill Parmeter of Ft. Myers, Florida, Jim (Rose) Parmeter of Charlotte, Kathy (Warren) Gichard of Solon, Rene (Mike) Hamilton of Houston, Texas, and Patty Stolley of Iowa City; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and sister Connie Cummings of Davenport, Iowa.
Visitation will be Monday, March 14th from 5-7pm at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 7 pm on Monday directly following the visitation. The funeral Mass will be Tuesday, March 15th at 10:30am at All Saints Church in Keokuk. Burial will follow at the Keokuk National Cemetery. The funeral Mass may be livestreamed at www.allsaintskeokuk.org/live.

Joyce was born on February 16, 1941, in Alsey, Illinois, the daughter of William and Vivian (Sellars) Gilpin. On November 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to George “Buddy” Sackman, Jr., in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives.
Joyce is survived by three children: Janet (John) Pearl, George (Manny) Sackman, III, Loretta (Vernon) McKay; two sisters: Mary Sommers and Anna Juffers; three brothers: Jack Gilpin, Charlie (Quinda) Gilpin and Dennis (Jeanie) Gilpin; ten grandchildren: Wesley (Christina) Pearl, Crystal Pearl, Jessica (Josh) Crenshaw, Shilah Kiger, Lauren (Lance) Buckert, Brant Sackman, Tyler Sackman, Steven McKay, William (Cassie) McKay and Justin McKay; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two brothers-in-law and one niece.
Joyce loved strawberry slushies from Sonic and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
There will be no service. The family will be meeting friends and family at the Heritage Center in Keokuk, Iowa, on Friday, March 11, from 4 to 7 pm.

Craig Smith - March 28, 1967 - March 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: Craig Allen Smith, 54, of Montrose, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Keokuk.
Craig was born on March 28, 1967, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Charles R. and Carol Jean (DeBates) Smith. On September 23, 2011, he was united in marriage to Cecilia Hitch in Fort Madison, Iowa. She survives.
Craig graduated from Rock Island High School. He later attended Western Illinois University for engineering and the Boyd School of Law at the University of Iowa. Craig was self-employed as a contractor and woodworker, owning ACH Improvements, and also owned his own business doing legal research and writing. With his job, he won 236 federal appeals. Craig loved science and was a complex thinker, holding patents for various devices. He had very diverse interests and was interested in learning about almost anything. Craig loved the great outdoors and engaged in hunting, fishing, gardening, geology, flint knapping and emergency preparedness. He loved animals, especially his dogs Sparky, Huckleberry and Boo, whom he talked about constantly. Craig was also the family historian and was very active in family history research. Craig could talk to anyone and never met a stranger; he was always thinking of others.
Craig is survived by his wife Cecilia Hitch Smith of Montrose, Iowa; three children: Alexis Smith, Caleb Smith, and Hannah Smith; six siblings: Christine (Michael) Lucas, Carol (Richard) Donavan, Charles Smith II, Cindy (Jeff) Baker, Chad Smith and Catherine (Timothy) Hay; his beloved grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fort Madison, Iowa. Burial at Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison will follow at a later date.

Terry Robert Queen - February 17, 1955 - March 03, 2022

Obituary Preview: Terry Robert Queen, 67, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022. Terry was born February 17, 1955, the son of Robert W. and Martha (Hatch) Queen in Keokuk. In 2001, he was united in marriage to Sheila (Patterson) Noble in Hamilton. She survives. Terry went to Keokuk High School and obtained his diploma in 1972. We went on to earn several trade certificates in college. Terry was a man of many talents and worked as a mechanic for KCSD, truck driver, tool and die at Vega Industries and a machinist at MMC Enterprises. He ended his working career at Sheller-Globe/Henniges Automotive in Keokuk after a combined 30+ years of service where he was a member of local Union #444. Terry was happiest attending his “church” - the great outdoors. He loved hunting many types of game and owned hunting dogs throughout his life. Terry was an avid fisherman, happiest on the river. He enjoyed trapping and putting his green thumb to use in the garden. Terry was a man’s man, and loved driving jeeps and working on old cars, especially his ’48 Plymouth and the ’48 Pontiac Silver Streak he owned most of his life. He was known for being honest and vocal with his opinions, delivering them with a twist of affection and sarcasm. Terry knew how to drive a point home with humor. You never knew what was going to come out of his mouth next! Terry was very strong and independent, always living life on his own terms. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. In life, he had a never give up or quit attitude, he was always a fighter. Terry was an all-in, dedicated husband and his grandchildren’s protector. He cherished the fun times he had with his children and grandchildren. Terry is survived by his wife, Sheila Queen of Hamilton; mother, Martha Queen of Keokuk; three sons: Jeremy (fiancé Carmen Stevens) Queen of Blandinsville, Illinois, Nicholas Queen of Burlington, Iowa, and Tracy (Amanda Etheredge) Queen of Stephenville, Texas; two step-children: Mitchell (Becca Root) Noble of Warsaw, Illinois, and Amanda (Jeff) Maxwell of Keokuk; one brother: Alan (Vicky) Queen of Keokuk; grandchildren: Hunter Queen, Alex Wallace, Alexis (Moises) Olvera, McKenna Queen, Brandon, Kynik and Ryleigh Queen, Dalton Weaver, Ava and Anna Noble, Ryan Maxwell, Rachel Maxwell, Jayden Taft and one on the way, Minnow Queen; great-grandchildren: Reid Voels and one on the way, Elijah Olvera; his sister-in-law Audrey Queen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Robert Queen, and his brother, Kevin Queen. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 10, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk followed by burial at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. A bereavement meal will be served at the First Christian Church, 10th and Walnut, Hamilton, IL following the burial. Dollie was born on September 9, 1967, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of James Holmes and Virginia (Stark) Gilbert. On April 25, 2014, she was united in marriage to Matthew Stice in Lee County, Iowa. He survives.
Dollie graduated from Keokuk High School was employed at several businesses throughout her life, including Sonic, Burger King, KFC and Goldie Sawmill. She loved crafting and was a very creative person. Dollie also enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, watching paranormal videos and playing brain-teaser games on her phone. She loved to crank her classic rock up loud and was always a fun person to be around.
Dollie is survived by her husband Matthew Stice of Keokuk; two children: Terry Allen (Taylor) Briggs of Hamilton, Illinois, and Brandi Rae Briggs of Keokuk; two step-children: Tiffany (Gabe Camp) Stice of Hamilton, and Sara Stice of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine grandchildren with one on the way; her mother-in-law Linda Altheide and father-in-law Richard Stice; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Carla (Tyson) Waetzig, Chad (Nikki) Stice, Randy Stice and Belinda Stice; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dollie is also survived by her beloved dog Precious.
Dollie is preceded in death by her mother and father Virginia and James, her sister Carol Sue Holmes and her step-father Terry Altheide.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk.

Vicki was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, on August 7, 1946, the daughter of Edward and Cecelia (Schmitz) Aniskewicz. She graduated from Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1964. Vicki married Richard E. Larson on December 17, 1966, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2017.
After starting their family in Rockville, Maryland, Vicki and Richard moved their three sons (and her cherished houseplants that filled a ‘67 VW Bug towed behind the family station wagon) to Richard’s hometown of Keokuk, Iowa, in 1978. Vicki enjoyed cooking for her family and keeping a happy, caring home. As her boys moved on from elementary school, Vicki earned a teaching certificate. She was a pre-school Head Start teacher for twenty-six years. Vicki loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events and capturing countless photos and videos. Vicki’s favorite time of the year was the Christmas season. She had a large Santa Claus collection and loved decorating her home in the holiday spirit. Her favorite decorations would remain on display all year. Above all, she loved her family and always did whatever she could for them.
Vicki is survived by three sons: Eric Larson of Donnellson, Iowa, Kurt Larson of North Liberty, Iowa, and Scott (Michele) Larson of Coralville, Iowa; four grandchildren: Brant, Millie, and Caleb Larson of Donnellson, Iowa, and Kate Larson of Coralville, Iowa; one sister: Doreen (Larry) Walton of Neshkoro, Wisconsin; one brother: Edward Aniskewicz of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin; and one niece: Tanya (David) Bosshard of Neshkoro, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 3 to 5 pm, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A private graveside service will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery.

She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Harness at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma in 1945. Helen was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Bridge. She was also active in the community by volunteering at both Graham and St. Joseph’s Hospitals, Birthright, and her churches, St. Mary’s and later, All Saints. Helen is survived by her children, John R. (Sherry) Harness of Denver, CO, Janet Harness of Denver, CO, and Dr. Jim (Diane) Harness of Quincy; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. Kennith (Brenda) Miller of Spring Green, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Harness; children, Jean K. Harness and Jane E. (Harness) Wilson; and brothers, Jack, Guerdon (Cork), and Steve Miller. Rikki worked at Lincoln Elementary in the kitchen. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts and art. Most of all, Rikki loved her family and spending time with her children.
Survivors include her husband, Aaron Gilman of Fort Madison; three children, Nicoli Reynolds, Trevor Gilman and Desiree Gilman all of Fort Madison; her mother, Jerri and step father Terry Brewer of Dallas City, Ill; three sisters, Michelle Burch of Fort Madison, Linda Swyter and Cindy Swyter both of Marion, KY; her grandmother, Shirley Reynolds of Marion, KY; her mother-in-law, Debra Gilman of Donnellson; and her father-in-law, Steve Gilman of Montrose.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 pm on Friday, February 18, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Ft. Madison Eagles Club.

Henry was born December 16, 1934, the son of Roy L. and Ruth S. (Snyder) Krueger in Keokuk.  He graduated from Keokuk High School and went on to attain his degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Iowa.  On June 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Frances Bloom at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk.  He served in various management roles for the Hubinger Company in Keokuk from 1957 to 1975.  Henry made a midlife career change and began working in the financial services industry before ultimately opening Krueger Brokerage, where he worked with his son Dan until his retirement in 2015.  Henry was an active community member serving on the boards of Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk County Club and Trinity United Methodist church finance committee.  He was also a member of Rotary and the Jaycees, where he was active for many years with the Keokuk Street Fair and was named Iowa’s Jaycee Man of the Year in the 1970’s.  He was a proud alumnus of the University of Iowa and fanatically supported Hawkeye sports.  Henry was an avid fisherman, master gardener and incredible cook who loved and supported his children and grandchildren and the community of Keokuk.
Henry is survived by his wife, Frances, of Keokuk; daughter, Kris (Kelly Ritch) Krueger of Durham, North Carolina; two sons, Dan (Diana) Krueger of Keokuk and Doug (Tanya) Krueger of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren, Ethan and Claire Ritch, Kelly (Anthony) Peavy, and Kole, Katherine, Grace, Ben and Anna Krueger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Diane Hughes, Roy “Bob” Krueger, Jr., Martha Acer and Sally Dains.

She graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1972, and on August 4, 1989, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Colwell in Alexandria, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2019.
Cynthia held several jobs during her life, finishing her working career in housekeeping at Lexington Square in Keokuk. She loved her family, her friends and her community, and served on the Alexandria Town Board. She loved the great outdoors; and enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, air shows and cookouts. She also loved her cats.
Cynthia is survived by her son Clint Hoyt of Keokuk, Iowa; three step-children: Tracy (Ted) Colwell of North Carolina, Danita Brewer of Florida and Jeri Baker of Florida; her brother Mark Hoyt of Keokuk; four step-grandchildren: Mark Brewer, Dalton Baker, Nathaniel Baker and Caitlin Colwell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry; her step-granddaughter Meghan Ann Brewer; and three brothers: Vernon Lee Hoyt, Jr., David Hoyt and Bill Hoyt.

Obituary Preview: Nancy K. Doss, 85, of Hampstead, North Carolina, formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, and Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Nancy was born in Burlington, Iowa, on February 10, 1936, the daughter of Walter J. and Edith F. (Mehmkin) Platte. She grew up in Keokuk, Iowa, and in 1953, she was united in marriage to William R. Doss in Keokuk, Iowa. He survives.
Nancy started her love for horses at the age of three in Keokuk with the help from her parents. She obtained and trained her own horses and competed with some of the best horses in the Midwest in horse shows, where she reached great success.  She was well-known in the horse world for her capabilities and was written up in several magazines.  Nancy’s love for horses continued when she moved to Kankakee, Illinois, where her children were raised and schooled. This was where she founded the family horse breeding operation, Lynn Oak Arabians, achieving high success with her breeding program and helping others to get started on their own. She moved to Dittmer, Missouri, in 1991, to an eighteen-acre homestead which provided much joy and recreation to all family members. In her free time, Nancy stayed busy planting flowers, gardening, canning, golfing, and caring for the horses. She will always be remembered for being a terrific mother and wife to Bill and a friend to others. Nancy was always smiling and cheerful and loved by many.
Nancy is survived by her husband William “Bill” Doss of Hampstead, North Carolina; her son Richard Lee “Rick” (Ali) Doss of Greensboro, North Carolina; her daughter Kay Lynn (Chris) Cornett of Fruitport, Michigan; brother Jim (Marilyn) Platte of Naperville, Illinois; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, her son William Ray “Billy” Doss, Jr., and her sister Sandy Platte.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Keokuk, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, from 4 to 7 pm, at the funeral home.

Sue worked several places throughout her career and was most recently employed at Walmart as a greeter, working there until she retired at the age of eighty-five. She enjoyed spending her free time reading, visiting with her family, and rooting for her favorite sports teams, which included the Chicago Bears, the Fighting Illini, and Illinois high school basketball teams.
Sue is survived by her son George “Rick” (Barb) Altheide of Montrose, Iowa; her stepson Lavail Turner of Fort Madison, Iowa; several grandchildren including Eric Altheide, Beth (Keith Latham) Altheide, Dionna (Chris Carlson) Turner, Ray Turner and Cody Turner; and several great-grandchildren.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, her son Steve Boyd, her granddaughter Dani Altheide and her step-sister Donna Ulrich.
A graveside service will be held at 2:45 pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. A procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home at 2:30 pm. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 to 2:30 pm at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk.

Pauline was born June 29, 1922, in Ashton, Missouri, at home on the family farm, the daughter of Paul Stanley and Myrtle (Elsie Smith) Glasscock. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1940 and played on a traveling softball team after high school. She was united in marriage to Glen Eugene Randle in January of 1943 in Canton, Missouri. He was killed in action in France on January 5, 1945 while serving in World War II. Pauline was then united in marriage to Don E. Hall on April 19, 1946 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1985. She worked at the Keokuk Shoe Factory as a young woman, and later moved to Quincy, Illinois, where Pauline was employed at the Illinois Veteran’s Home for twenty-four years until her retirement in the early 1990’s. Pauline was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois, and belonged to several Baptist churches throughout her life. She was an avid bowler for many years and belonged to a Canasta club. She enjoyed spending her free time playing Scrabble, fishing, walking and taking care of her yard. She also loved to read. Most of all, she loved her family dearly, especially her children and grandchildren.
Pauline is survived by two children: Debra Behring of Quincy, Illinois, and Holly (Steve) Hudelson of Quincy; grandchildren: Kenneth (Brenda) Vahle, Kasey Behring, Chad (Grace) Hudelson and Corey (Jennifer) Hudelson, and Stephanie (Brandon) Meyer; great-grandchildren: McKensie Vahle, Dequadrian (Paxton) Martin, Liam and Finn Hudelson, Paige Lewis, Adrianah (Skye) Hudelson, Logan, Charlie and Parker Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene Randle; husband Don E. Hall; sons: Larry Randle in infancy and Jerry Hall; sister: Flossie (Glenn) Taylor; five brothers: Stanley (Shirley), John (Aileen), Glen (Shirley), Clyde (Maggie) and Dean (Anna Lou) Glasscock and two grandsons: Kelly Behring and Jerry Hall, Jr.

Jean was born on February 7, 1932, in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of William and Lucy Agnes (Ward) Freeborn. She graduated from Unionville High School and went on to attend Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville. Jean was united in marriage to Wendell “Pete” Peterson on July 28, 1957 in Unionville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2013. Teaching was Jean’s passion, and she taught elementary school in Keokuk for more than thirty-four years.
Jean was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, where she sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines, Keosippi Kickers, BPW and Red Hat Ladies. In her free time, Jean enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. She loved to dance and was known as “Dancin’ Jean” to family and friends. She was very social, loved to travel, and enjoyed wintering in Florida with her husband Pete. Jean had strong family ties and cared for others deeply. She was known as “Gigi” to the grandkids and great-grandkids and loved spending time with them.
Jean is survived by one daughter: Wendy (Roxanne Bercik) Peterson of Bend, Oregon; daughter-in-law: April Peterson of Shelbyville, Missouri; granddaughter: Nikki Peterson of Poteau, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren: Trey (Caroline), Tony (Madalynn) and Harlan (Arielle) Million; four step-great-grandchildren: Brady, Aizlynn, Zane and Lennox; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael Lee Peterson, and siblings Ruth Harris, Dorothy Leckbee and Jim Freeborn.

Dorothy shared her love through cooking and sewing. She baked and delivered holiday themed frosted sugar cookies to local Veteran and nursing homes and sewed lap blankets for Veteran homes. She was famous for her homemade noodles which she made regularly to give as a gift to family and friends.
Dorothy worked in the Dietary Department at Graham Hospital and the Heritage Center where she was known for the tasty meals she planned and cooked with many asking her to return after she retired.  She was also a long-time member of the American Legion Lady's Auxiliary and volunteered regularly.
Dorothy is survived by many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Oakland Cemetery, 1802 Carroll Street, Keokuk. All friends and family are invited to attend. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date. Dorothy specifically requested no flowers; in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Keokuk American Legion Lady's Auxiliary or to the charity of choice.

Patricia worked briefly at the hospital in Keokuk and at K-Mart and spent most of her younger years raising her children. She was talented at crocheting and won a blue ribbon for a crocheted doll. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, pottery, ceramics, and bowling.
Patricia is survived by two sons: Rick Hammel of Palmyra, Missouri, and Doug (Chris) Hammel of Keokuk, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Brenda, Justin, Doug, Grace, Brandon, Matthew and Garrett; five great-grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Ethan, Brooklynn and Bentley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, two sons: Kenneth and Lester, and two brothers: William and Alfred Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Little Mound Cemetery in rural Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday directly before the service.
