Obituary Preview: Arthur Ray McDermont, age 87, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022.
He was born on August 21, 1934, in Riverside, California, the son of Ray Alexander McDermont and Sarah Marshall McDermont. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Grace McDermont, December 15, 2021; his sister, Barbara Davis; and his son Ray Alexander McDermont II.
Arthur loved the Lord and was an active member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. He loved horse racing and owned several race horses that won several races. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Arthur leaves behind many that loved him, he will be missed.
He is survived by his son, Arthur Quentin McDermont of Hot Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Mark Ross of Benton; his nephew and his spouse, Patrick and Willow Green in Hawaii; his grandchildren, Blake and Carlie Ross of Benton and Alex and Dylan Robbins of Hot Springs; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Ross, Madalyn Ross, Laiken Ross and Jaxton Robbins; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many wonderful friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Hot Springs Chapel with Bro. Jeff Hill officiating.
Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to service.
Pallbearers will be, Mark Ross, Allen Echols, Kenneth Gaines, Niagle Ratchford, Michael Ratchford and Mark Gammill.

Norma Jean Robinson Hill - November 26, 1929 - February 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Norma Jean (Robinson) Hill, beloved wife of Rev. James Hill, passed from this life to the life that awaits all Christian believers on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the age of 92 years.
Norma and Jim met in church following Jim's military service during World War II and became better acquainted as students at Howard College (now Samford University). The couple married in 1951, and Norma began her public school teaching career while Jim continued his theological education and later pastoral ministry in Kentucky and Arkansas. Norma was a strong supporter of her husband's work and a dedicated church member serving in the music and educational ministries of the churches they served. After retirement, the Hills moved to the Atrium at Serenity Pointe to enjoy the remaining years of their lives.
They are the parents of two attentive children, Deborah (David) Wetzler of Hot Springs and Jonathan Hill of New Orleans. The couple also have three adult grandchildren of whom they are most proud: Nathan Wetzler, Kristen Wetzler, and Samantha Hill.
The family would like to thank the staff at Belvedere Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care, love, and kindness given to Norma and the entire family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, February 28, 2022, in the First Baptist Church Hot Springs, with John McCallum officiating, under the direction of the Smith Family Funeral Home.
Interment in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

She was born on February 24, 1994, in Hot Springs. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Jimmy Thresher; her maternal grandfather, James Burchell; her maternal grandmother, Bonnie Moore Vince; one aunt, Sandra Moore; and one niece, Rali Shelton.
Faith was very creative and could fix anything. She loved children and loved doing projects with them. She was generous to a fault and loved others unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Her passing has left a big hole in our world.
She is survived by her son, Ryland Robbins of Hot Springs; her mother, Sue Robbins of Hot Springs; her biological father, Jason Thresher of New Jersey; three sisters, Dana Robbins of Conway, Kara Burchell of Hot Springs and Isabella Montalvo of Hot Springs; her brother, Jacob Burchell; two grandmothers, Ann Thresher and Karen Burchell; her special friend, Matt Richardson of Hot Springs; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 25, 2022, with Bro. Buddy Lemons officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, prior to the service.

Bob loved life and his family deeply and passionately. He was a sea captain, a business man and most important to him; an amazing husband for 6 decades and the best father to his children. His kind and gentle heart had room for everyone and all things, especially his sweet little dog “Mikey”. He will be deeply miss by all that knew and loved him, never to be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Boudreaux; his children and their spouses, Mary and Vince DeBenedetto of Natchez, Mississippi, Robert Boudreaux, Jr. and Becky of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, and Carl and Chelsea Boudreaux of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Christain Hunt, Ashley Hunt Clapp, Robert L. Katie V. Cage - November 11, 1933 - February 16, 2022

Obituary Preview: Katie Vickers Cage, age 88, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022, at her home.
She was born on November 11, 1933, the daughter of Doc Chatman Vickers and Viola Miller Vickers. On August 20, 1955, she married Leo S. Cage. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Born and raised in Shreveport Louisiana, she married and moved to Little Rock where she was a Realtor for Coldwell Banker for several years; before finally moving to Hot Springs where she spent the last 32 years living on Lake Hamilton.
Katie was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. She instilled in her children a love of music and a love for animals. Katie was a “Dog Mom” to the core, she always had canine companions since she was very young.
She graduated from Byrd High School, class of 1952. She was a proud member of the Tri Delta Sorority at LSU Baton Rouge. She was a “Golf Nut” well into her 80's and will be greatly missed by her golfing buddies at Diamondhead Golf and Country Club. She was also a very accomplished pianist who studied alongside the world renown Van Cliburn, under the direction of Nena Plank Wideman in Shreveport.
She will always be remembered for her quick wit, great laugh and eagerness to enjoy life to the fullest. She made life easier for those close to her and spent many years volunteering at St. Joseph’s hospital in Hot Springs.
She was Episcopal in her faith and showed tremendous courage in her fight against serious medical issues over last few years and it is a testament to her strength and faith in God.
Katie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris Cage and Roni Pastore of Hayesville, North Carolina and her daughter, Tracy Cage of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Rest In Peace
God has gained a kind and loving angel for eternity.
A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Cage Tracy Cage, Sally Thackery, Jimmy Thackery, Diane Mullin, Nancy Gates and Bunkie Bryant. She asked that anyone wishing to honor her life can make a donation to

He was born on January 2, 1949 in Elma, Washington, the son of Verle Johns and, Fannie Winnie Lambert Johns. On September 26, 1996 he married Roxanne Chambers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Milton Johns.
William was a member of the Cedar Glades Baptist Church. Some of his fondest times were when he and Roxanne went fishing together. He enjoyed playing computer games and mowing grass when he was able. He always had a beautiful garden and also took pride in taking care of his flock of chickens, his cow, his many goats and his widowed goose. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
William is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Roxanne L. Johns; his children and their spouses, James Don and Linnea Johns, Charles Christopher and Annie Johns and John Richard Chambers; his grandson, Kaiden James Chambers; his brother and sister-in-law, Wilburn and Ellie Johns; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Kenneth Humphreys; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many good friends.

Obituary Preview: Tavia Perry Weidmann, age 78, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
She was born on February 14, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William Reavley Perry and Jewell Grady Perry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weidmann; her parents; and one daughter, Melissa Loyd.
Most of her youth was spent at the Perry Plaza Motel on Park Avenue which her family built and operated. Tavia was the owner of Play Mates Children’s Clothing Boutique in the 1980’s. She served as a city alderman and worked for many years for the State of Arkansas in the Driver Control division. She also was the director for Ouachita Area United Fund in Camden, she was instrumental in many activities including the annual holiday meal drive. Tavia was the director of the Women’s Crisis Center in Camden, where she helped turn many lives around. She loved to boat on Lake Hamilton. She loved to cook and was an avid reader. One of her favorite pastimes was doing word search puzzles next to her husband, Bob, as he did his crossword puzzles. She took care of any and all of God’s creations, making a difference for many people and animals. Family meant everything to her and raising them was her most important job. She has many dear friends and family that loved her and will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her children, Fred “Rusty” Loyd, Jr. (Karen R. Loyd) and their children, Brandon (Hailey) Loyd and Benjamin Loyd, Liz Ann Loyd, Mari Weidmann Sutterfield (Chris) and their children, Ellie, Zoe and Lucas, all of Hot Springs, Chip Weidmann and family of Camden and Valerie Weidmann Koehr and family of North Carolina; grandchildren, Tiffany Kilzer-Cummins (Jason) and Candance Muzny (Grant); Tavia's great-grandchildren are Joey, Cole, Emma, Gunner, Paisley, Spencer, Maleea, Adlee and Julia; her favorite fur child, Jaxson; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Celebration of Life service 2:00PM, Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 213 Whittington Avenue, Hot Springs. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall.

He was born on September 8, 1928, in Oakwood, the son of Jasper Ballew and Dixie Corene Abbott Ballew. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Ballew; and several brothers and sisters.
Pete was a truck driver and the hardest working man that his family ever knew. He took care of his wife and children with the most care he possible could. He loved music and was a talented musician being able to play any instrument, but the banjo was his favorite. He was an excellent wood worker and took great pride in keeping his car clean and his yard manicured. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Vera Juanita Ballew of Hot Springs; three children, Judy Ballew Rone of Hot Springs, Vince Allen Ballew of Boonville, California, and Amy (Darrel) Kelley of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Cheryl (Fred) McClard of Hot Springs, Dale (Angie) Hamilton of Donaldson, and Dixie (Michael) Miller of Ukiah, California; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Patsy Ballew of Hot Springs; his grand-dog, Roxie, who he called Puddy Dog; his special daughters at heart, Tina Beckwith and "Chigger"; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Obituary Preview: Sam Henry Greenwood, age 76, of Waldron, Arkansas passed away on February 15th 2022 during his stay at the Waldron Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after battling through several serious health conditions.
He was born on May 23, 1945, in Spiro, Oklahoma, to the late Perry Blunt Greenwood and Virginia Kelly- Greenwood. He had a large family and was one of thirteen children.
He is preceded in death by his father Perry Greenwood, mother Virginia Kelly Greenwood-Wagner, a son Porky “Anzil” Eugene Greenwood, 9 brothers, 2 sisters, and a friend/companion Jana Dickerson.
He is survived by one daughter, Cherry Gaston and husband, Jason, of Waldron, Arkansas. Three grandchildren, Rebecca Greenwood of Van Buren, Arkansas, Destiny Gaston of Waldron, Arkansas, Wyatt Gaston of Waldron, Arkansas. One sister Virginia Lee Deshazo-Miller of Tonopah, Arizona.
He spent much of his life enjoying a wide variety of interests and having several types of jobs. He spent a lot of his time moving/relocating around the Arizona and California area before finally relocating to Waldron, Arkansas in 2004 to be close to his only remaining child Cherry Gaston and his grandchildren.
At this time no viewing or funeral services will be held at the deceased’s request. Immediate family will be having a small intimate celebration of life at a later date.
Condolences for the family may by offered and appreciated at this time.

She was born on March 2, 1945, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Vance A. Long and Willie (Smith) Long. She is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Johnnie Turner; her parents; one grandson, Steven Ray Turner, Jr.; and two brothers, Monte V. Long and Jerry A. Long.
Yvonne was a Christian and Baptist in her faith. She served the public for over 28 years in various positions within the Social Security Administration. She was the consummate cook and shared her love for her family through her signature dishes. Many family arguments were over the last piece of her chocolate pie. Cooking was a passion she enjoyed and several nieces watched her carefully and learned to cook and have her passion for it. Known for her green thumb, African Violets and a plentiful garden were a constant in her life, she took great pride in her okra and tomatoes. Her love for her family and her nieces and nephews is everlasting. Her memory will live on with us and she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven R. and Tonya Turner; her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl R. and Steve Colwell; four grandchildren, Sarah R. Turner, Matthew Neeper, Austin Phillips and Tyler Turner; one great-grandchild, Shaelyn Turner; three siblings, Cathy (Dale) Hester, Dough (Mary) Long and Evelyn Tucker; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Bear spent most of his adult life in service with the military serving two tours in Iraq. He was a loving single father to his children and loving grandfather.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Harding; his children, Wesley Harding, Catelyn Harding and Jay “Rion” Harding; his grandchildren, Samuel “Bubby” Alston and Don “Wyatt” Adams.

Linda Ann Scroggin - April 12, 1952 - February 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Linda Ann Scroggin, age 69, of Hot Springs, AR, peacefully left this earth on February 13, 2022, with her two girls by her side.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ben F. Scroggin, Jr. and Imogene Pierce Scroggin.
She lived in Searcy, AR as a child, and resided in Little Rock, AR for much of her adult life. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
Linda loved her daughters and her grandchildren with her whole heart, and we will all miss her dearly. Throughout her life, she enjoyed fishing, pink flamingos, making crafts, teaching children, chocolate covered cherries, celebrating holidays, songs by Barry Manilow, and spending time with her loved ones.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Moore of Little Rock and Elizabeth (Brandon) Taylor of Hot Springs. She is also survived by her four precious grandchildren who meant the world to her, Dylan Evans, Maddie Moore, Charlie Moore, and Bennett Taylor.
A special celebration of her life is being planned by her family for a later date.

Louis Russell Bloodworth - December 14, 1948 - February 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Louis Russell “Russ” Bloodworth, age 73, of Hot Springs passed away, Friday, February 11, 2022.
He was born on December 14, 1948, in Hot Springs the son of James Russell Bloodworth and Clara Brazeal Bloodworth. On August 26, 1969 he married, Carolyn Jane James whom preceded him on April 5, 2019. He was also preceded by his parents and one grandchild, Thomas Suta, Jr.
Russ was a Christian in his faith. He was a retired Major from the United States Army, serving during Vietnam and Persian Gulf War era, during this time he discovered his love of flying helicopters, he was an Airborne Ranger. He was a member of the Arkansas National Guard at Fort Chaffee and Camp Robinson and a member of the VFW Post 4451 of Mena. Russ received his Batchelor Degree of History and Political Science from the Arkansas Technical College of Russellville. He later retired from the United States Postal Service as the Post Master of Mena. He was a real outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed reading, movies, political commentary, watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Razorbacks. Russ loved spending time with family and friends, he will be greatly missed.
Russ is survived by his children, Suzanne Suta, Jeanne and Chris Carmack, Leslie and Mike Bell and James Bloodworth, all of Hot Springs; his grandchildren, Jessica and James Hulsey, Brandon and Rachelle Carmack, Kelli Suta and fiancée Josh Stone, Hunter Jones, Brooke Jones and Emi Aubuchon; his great-grandchildren, Carolina Hulsey and Owen Carmack; his brother, Phillip Bloodworth of McKinney, Texas; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Penny and Mike Whitley and Gloria and Steve Pestikas, all of McKinney, Texas; his close friend and flight buddy, Jim Wingfield of Mountain Home; nieces, nephews, extended family members and other friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Hot Springs.
Interment will be held at 2:30 PM in the Hunt Chapel Cemetery near Waldron.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Cone and husband David, son Darrell Leatherman, granddaughter Elizabeth Cone Boatman and husband Billy, grandson Scott Leatherman McCook and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family that will miss her.

Obituary Preview: Rev. Michael Perry Smith “Mike”, age 62, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday February 6th, 2022.
Michael Smith was born to Uless Clifton Smith and Lillian Onedia Bain on April 24th, 1959.
Mike was predeceased in death by his mother Lillian, father Clifton, brother Steven Smith, and Nephew Wilburn Joey Smith, father and mother-in-law Willie and Virgina Curtis, and several extended family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife Betty Ann Curtis Smith, son Nicholas Michael Smith, daughter and son-in-law Lillian Ann and Joseph Alderman, Grandson and “Little Buddy” Maximus Alderman, brother and sister-in-law William Joey “Joe” and Peggy Smith, Nephews Willias Smith (Stephanie), and Wesley Smith (Leslie), Sister-in-Law Judy Smith all of Hot Springs, Sisters Brenda Nooner of Texas, Beverly Garrett (Jerry) of Malvern, and Brother Wayne Smith of FL, Brother-in-Law Brian Curtis of Texas, Sister-in-laws Debbie Jones (Jason) of FL, Crystal Mitchell (Tim), Linda Thomas, Sarah Rabaz (John), Midge Mcgarr, and Angla Crumpton all of Hot Springs. He is also survived by dozens of other beloved family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and hundreds of close friends.
Mike graduated from Mountain Pine High School in 1977, and went on to attend Hendrix college and Quapaw Technical School, where received a certificate in appliance repair. After that, he earned two Associates degrees from Garland County Community College. A lover of knowledge and dedicated to a life-time of learning, in 1992, he earned a Bachelor of Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary and a Master of Science in Theology in 2007, and in 2020 he began work on his Doctoral Degree.
Mike loved Mountain Pine School and Community with his whole heart. Michael was awarded the 1st ever LARGEST HEART AWARD FOR RED DEVILS FOOTBALL. He carries the record as one half of the only Red Devils Double Tennis Team. He was an Honor Graduate of The Class of 1977. Michael remained an active member of the community and an advocate for the school, the students, and the community for the rest of his life. He was the “Voice of the Red Devils”, the Announcer and Color Commentator for the Football Team, for over 3 decades. He proudly commentated for the Championship game of 2021 played at War Memorial Stadium. He also coached Pee Wee Football for several years, and was the official scorekeeper for the High School Baseball team for over 7 years. Mike proudly served on the Mountain Pine School Board for 11 years, earning the highest level of honors as a Pinnacle Board Member for his dedication to training and education. Mike truly lived the motto “Once a Red Devil Always a Red Devil ''.
Michael was truly a jack-of-all trades, he held many positions and job titles over the course of his life. He taught appliance repair at Quapaw Vocational Technical School. He joined the Arkansas Air National Guard in 1981 and proudly served our country for 11 years. During that time, he received a degree from the Community College of the Air Force. In 1985, he joined the Hot Springs Police Department. Mike's passion for people was shown so often through serving the community of Hot Springs as a Patrol Officer, Beat Officer, Street Crimes Officer, Detective, Certified Law Enforcement Training Officer, and in PCR. In 1986, his fellow officers voted him FOP Rookie of the Year. He also served as a certified DARE Officer at Hot Springs Schools during his time on the police force. He loved every aspect of law enforcement. In 1992, he retired due to an injury sustained in-the-line of duty.
After retiring from the Police Department, Mike surrendered to full-time ministry. He was called to pastor at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Curtis, Arkansas in 1992. He was the pastor at Shady Grove for two years, during which he received his ordination. In 1996, he was called to pastor his home church, Rector Heights Baptist Church in Hot Springs. He faithfully led this congregation for over 25 years. Obedience to God’s Word held the top place in Michael’s heart. He worked diligently to help people fall in love with the Savior and become a disciple of Jesus Christ and work every day to win and make disciples for Jesus. During this time, Mike was a faithful member of the Quarterback Club, and was awarded Rookie of the Year. He also partnered with the Veteran’s Community Partnership of the Ouachitas and received his certification as a Veteran’s Clergy and Advocate. For the past few years, he also served as a Client Advocate, teaching Fatherhood, Parenting, and Anger Management at Changepoint Pregnancy Care and Parenting Center. Over the last 5 years, he served in the Jail Ministry in Saline County and Garland County Detention Centers. In December of 2021, he began his work as the Garland County Jail Ministry Chaplain and Board President. He was honored to serve God and his community in this role, and prayed that “God opens ways to bring diverse ideas to the mission field of serving with GCJMI.”
Mike loved people, and he loved serving his community. He served on the Board of the Piney Fire Department for the past several years, and as board President this year. He was also a member of the Hot Springs Masonic Lodge for most of his adult life. Michael also fell in love with the ministry of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, as much as he loved bikes, he loved the ministry more. He was an active member of the Spring Riders Chapter of the CMA.
Michael was a faithful husband and father. He was our “constant” and we will miss him more than you can ever imagine. He lived a full life and was the most selfless person we have ever known. He loved everyone he ever met (but I’m sure he loved us more). He always had a cup of coffee, a listening ear, a word (or a 1,000 words) of advice, a joke, and a good story to share. Our world will never be the same.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Justy Smith and Bro. Jerry Garrett officiating at Grace Apostolic Church, 192 Grace Lane, Hot Springs under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
Interment will be in the Bain Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Maximus Alderman, Joseph Alderman, Donnie T. Smith, Tim Mitchell, Eddie Rodgers, Jayson Neighbors, Clint Slaton, and Aaron Qualls.

He was born on June 16, 1935, in Hot Springs, the son of Amos Meredith and Winnie Ray Meredith. On August 1, 1954, he married the love of his life, Norma McInvale. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Glenn Meredith; and his son-in-law, Ronnie Boyette.
Gary graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1953. At a young age, he started working as a paperboy for the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record, and he eventually retired from the pressroom after 49 years and 7 months, but he continued to mow yards long into his seventies. He was so proud of having 12 great-grandchildren, and he loved to spend time with them, taking them on Christmas hayrides, cooking their favorite foods, going on walks to the pond, and telling them stories. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him, but we know he was greeted by those who went before him.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma Meredith; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Christy Meredith; his daughter, Carolyn Boyette, all of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Jennifer Hughes, Julie Hart, Amy Smedley, Amanda McArthur, Michael Meredith and Tiffani Streetman; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 10, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

He was born on December 9, 1937, in Foley, Alabama, the son of Chester Arthur Wells and Mary Elmira Powers Wells. On December 7, 1956, he married Lorene Skillern. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gloria “Nip”, Sarah and Evelyn; two brothers, Arthur and Silas; one great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Abigail Lofton.
Roger retired from the United States Air Force as a Major. He was a fighter pilot extraordinaire, his peers called him the “World’s Greatest Fighter Pilot”. He was an instructor in the Air Force Fighter Weapons Training School. He gave speeches all over the world regarding fighter pilot training and even spoke at the Navy’s Top Gun School. He was the creator of the Aggressor Squadrons and was instrumental in selling the idea to the Pentagon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorene Wells; his son, Roger G. Wells, Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Mike Lofton of North Little Rock and Karen and Dan Dantzler of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, John Wells, Lauren Wells, Valerie Hoback, Michael Lofton, Bryan Lofton, David Dantzler, Lacey Dantzler and Caden Dantzler; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoback and Ira Dantzler; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Eric was a Christian in his faith. He worked as a EMT for LifeNet, was a volunteer fireman for the Piney Fire Department, and well known for his many years as chef at J&S Italian Villa. He was a member of the Nationally Registered EMT, Fire Fighter II, Fire Investigators and Fire Fighter Instructors. Some people spend their whole lives wondering if they made a difference, Eric devoted his life to making a difference. He was a hero to many, but a friend to all. Eric has such a passion for serving those around him with LifeNet, Piney Fire Department, or acting as Sham’s right-hand man in the kitchen. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Martin Truex Jr., you could always find Eric with the NASCAR race roaring, watching the entire race with his loving wife, Darlene. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Darlene Grimmett of Hot Springs; his father, Joe Grimmett of Hot Springs; his mother, Sandy McDonald of Hot Springs; his son, Jeff Hutchings of Hot Springs; two daughters, Sarah Hutchings and T. J. Randy was a United States Navy Veteran. While in the Navy he was a radio communications man. After the Navy, he worked as a baggage handler for Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines until retirement. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Sherry Kelley of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; one daughter, Tamra Thomas of Hot Springs Village; one grandchild, Alexander Anderson; nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of wonderful friends.
