Roger Fretwell - July 13, 1950 - October 21, 2021

Departed: 10/21/2021 (American Falls)
Obituary Preview: Roger Fretwell, 71, of Aberdeen, ID passed away on October 21, 2021.
Born in Moses Lake Washington on July 13, 1950 to James Fretwell and Katherine Ethel Fretwell, Roger grew up in the Spokane area where he learned the values of working hard and taking care of others from his immigrant father. He attended Shadel High School until volunteering to serve in the Marine Corps, where he earned accolades as a sharpshooter and spent four of his proudest years serving his country.
The foundation of discipline he acquired in the Corps drove him to seek out the first of two trades that would take up the lion’s share of his professional life. As a carpenter, he framed windows, remodeled and built houses, and worked for Bunker Hill Mining Company until it would shut down, leaving him and 3000 others all looking for work at the same time.
Rogers work ethic being engrained into his DNA, he spent the next two years traveling as far as Anchorage Alaska, back down to Northern Idaho, and finally down to southeast Idaho where he would start his second career as a truck driver and live the rest of his life.
He arrived in American Falls on February 14th 1983 where he would build the family that would survive him including his spouse  of 40 years Catherine Zola Fretwell, two surviving siblings James Fretwell (Cynthia), Gayle Farrar (Roger), four children Niichole Sue Johnson (Jeff), Carrie Jean Culver, Carly Gay Sullivan, Brian Fretwell (Jamie), Twelve grandchildren Taylor Rae Villareal (Anthony), Kendal Sullivan, Tristen Tipps, Jasmine Tipps, Brayden Culver, Samantha Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Paige Johnson, Kaitlin Johnson, Haley White, Warren Heyrend, Wesley Heyrend, and four great grandchildren Sebastian Johnson-VanStone, Alice Lerner, Rosalie Villareal, and Oliver Quinn. All of whom he loved very much.
Everything he loved began with family and was supported by hard work and discipline, values that would lead him to get his associates degree, start his own truck driving business where he drove with his wife, and eventually raise three kids and two of their grandchildren before finally selling his truck and downsizing to Aberdeen where he would spend his final years.
From his families’ perspective, Roger was the consummate provider, a disciplined man that worked hard to make things better for us, and the larger than life hero we looked to for guidance. We’ll miss his animated stories…some of which were even true, his signature laugh…that made us all smile, and his endless capacity for giving and providing…which created the foundation through which many of us built our lives.
He will be missed.
A celebration of life/Irish wake will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday October 29, 2021, at the Mill House Event Center, located at 2792 Pocatello Ave. in American Falls.  To share condolences, memories, and photos please visit www.davisrosemortuary.com.

Barry Thayne Williams - May 15, 1943 - October 06, 2021

Departed: 10/06/2021 (American Falls)
Obituary Preview: Barry Thayne Williams was born May 5, 1943 in Malad, Idaho to Donald T. “Sod” and Nelda (Ward) Williams. He passed away in Pocatello, Idaho on October 6, 2021.
Barry was raised in Arbon Valley on the family farm and ranch during World War II. He graduated from American Falls High School in 1961 where he competed in basketball and rodeo. He was instrumental in organizing the first rodeo club at American Falls High School, and competed in calf roping and cow cutting, tying for second at the Nationals Finals in the cow cutting. After graduation he attended Utah State University where he was a very active member of the rodeo team, again helping to organize the first rodeo club. He also served as a director of the Rocky Mountain Region for the NIRA, and added bull riding to his events. After graduating from USU with a bachelor’s degree in Range Management, he joined the Army Reserves and completed his basic training in Fort Ord, CA.  Later he also completed a Vet School program for ranchers. This enabled him to do almost all his own vet work over the years and perform many complex operations such as C-sections. He also performed many operations for his neighbors in the valley.
In 1969 he married his lifelong sweetheart Valorie Eames of American Falls, later they were sealed together in the Logan, UT Temple.  They built their life on the family ranch in Arbon. Barry and Valorie continued to travel to rodeos together where Barry enjoyed team roping and calf roping, and worked to expand the ranch. Along with Sod and Nelda they brought in some of the first purebred Simmental cattle to southern Idaho. That began Barry and Valorie’s foundation for Arbon Valley Simmental and the many bull sales to come. Barry was active raising, showing and promoting purebred Simmental cattle; bull sales; activities with 4-H; Power County Fat Stock Sale; and in various beef industry associations. He stayed active in range, water and current issues affecting ranchers up until the time of his death.
The cattle were Barry’s passion, but his true love was his six children: Travis, Justin, Jody, Jason, Tina, and Trevor. Despite the demands of the ranch, he always made time for his family, teaching his kids the value of hard work and making sure they had time to compete in wrestling, basketball, and rodeo. In his later years, Barry and Valorie spent their time chasing their grandchildren’s many events, in between Barry chasing his cows and water. Barry loved what he did and continued to work right up until just a few weeks ago. He was still roping at brandings this spring and changing his irrigation water daily. He was a hard worker all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Valorie Williams of Arbon. His mother – Nelda Williams of Arbon. His children – Travis (Heather) Williams of Glenns Ferry (and Arbon part time); Justin (Melanie) Williams of Arbon; Jason (Dejanet) Williams of Arbon; Tina (Jared) Simpson of Malad; and Trevor (Deziray) Williams of Arbon. His grandchildren – Wyatt (Makayla) Williams, Wacey Williams, Cheyanne (Terron) Allred, Justin (Robyn) Williams, Caleb Williams, Chance Williams, Garrett Sod Williams, Grayson Williams, Wade Williams, MaKaydee Williams, Sadie Simpson, Shawnee Simpson, Tom Simpson, Jayvin Williams, Kinzie Williams, Iylie Williams, Statlyn Williams, and Kesslin Wiliams. His great-grandchildren - Koi, Kie, Dax, Paizlee, and Hazel. His brother Brad (Judy) Williams of Yucaipa, California, as well as numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Jody Williams, his father D.T. Sod Williams, Grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 13, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 650 Pocatello Avenue in American Falls. The visitation will be on Tuesday, October 12 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Davis-Rose Mortuary and 10 am on Wednesday, October 13th at the church.  Interment will be in Falls View Cemetery in American Falls followed by a luncheon back at the church. Farel Simons - Unknown - October 02, 2021

Departed: 10/02/2021 (American Falls)
Obituary Preview: Our beloved Farel Vic Simons was welcomed back into the arms of his Savior and was met in a much anticipated and joyful reunion with his family and loved ones on October 2, 2021.  Farel was born November 15, 1969, in Pocatello, Idaho to Farrell R. Wildcat and Isabell Pohipe Wildcat.  At 21 months old he was placed into a home through the Indian Placement Program.  His foster parents, Max Flueitt Simons and Verna Payne Simons adored and loved him and chose to adopt him into their family.  He added so much life and love to their home and was well loved in return.  The adoption was finalized September 14, 1976, he was later sealed to them in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.  Farel was the youngest of four in the family by 15 years but had the opportunity to be joined by many other foster children and cousins who became like friends and family to him.  Farel grew up on a small farm in American Falls, ID.  He was always a hard worker and spent a lot of time working on the farm, spent his early mornings milking cows, moving pipe, bailing hay, and tending to the animals.  The farm was not all work but also offered a place for a magical childhood.  Farel spent many hours building forts in the fields and outbuildings, feeding baby pigs and calves (and sometimes riding them too), and exploring and playing with the dogs and cats.  He loved to play GI Joe and cars and loved to skateboard.  He spent a lot of time kicking his nieces and nephew out of his room but was so good to them.   He was naturally creative and loved to draw and paint and that passion to create continued throughout his life.  He lived next door to his grandma, Syvella Payne and they shared a great fondness for each other.  Farel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and also participated in scouts.  Farel graduated from American Falls High School and LDS Seminary in 1989.
In his early adult years, he reunited with his biological sisters and dad, and they have had a beautiful relationship for many years.  Farel held several jobs throughout his life including working at Lamb Weston, as a bus cleaner and was very proud of becoming a flagger.  He also received a certificate to become a private investigator.  He dreamed of being a clown in the rodeo.
Farel loved to have fun and be with people!  Movies, particularly westerns were a favorite of his.  He loved to play darts, go to the arcade, cruise around in his car, watch Monster Truck shows, go to rodeos, play pool, eat a Elmers, go fishing and found great delight in singing karaoke.  His collection of movies and music was a testament of that love.
Farel struggled with a developmental disability and had many health issues throughout his life.  Although his circumstances were often difficult and he had every reason to complain, he rarely did.  He was known by all as a “happy guy” and loved to spend time with people. He was best known for his sense of humor, always cracking a joke, and teasing and had a contagious laugh. He was generous and kind and could always be found with a giant smile on his face.  He never asked for much and was generally content.  He was proud of his independence, as he should have been because he worked hard for it. We feel grateful that he was ours and that he was able to belong to so many of us, our lives have been blessed.  He was a bright spot in our world and we will miss him dearly!
He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Isabell Pohipe Wildcat, his adopted parents, Max and Verna Simons, siblings, Carolyn Simons, Marsha Layton, and Grant Simons.  He is survived by his biological father, Farrell R. Wildcat, his sisters, Wendy (Sam) Galloway of Blackfoot, ID, Sonya (Larry) Wadsworth of Fort Hall, ID, and Bobette (Russell) Haskett of Arbon Valley, ID.  Nephew, Ryan (Kara) Layton of Riverdale, UT, Nieces, Heather England (Mark) of Fort Myers, FL, Holly Jo (Chris) Peterson of Laveen, AZ, Rhonda (Clinton) Mullins of Centerville, UT, and Erin (Josh) Craft of South Ogden, UT as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We would like to offer a special thanks to Janet and her staff at Independent Living Services who loved and cared for Farel for many years. He considered you family and you enriched his life. A viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the LDS Stake Center, 111 Church Place, American Falls, ID.  The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. with the interment at the Neeley Cemetery.  To share condolences, memories, and photos please visit www.davisrosemortuary.com

Denver Dean Linscheid - Unknown - September 26, 2021

Departed: 09/26/2021 (American Falls)
Obituary Preview: Denver Dean Linscheid, 84.
Our precious papa, grandpa, and honey-babe passed away peacefully on September 26, 2021.
Dad lived a life of adventure and of his own making. His strength, determination, and love of his family allowed all of us to come along for the ride.
Dad was born in St. James, Minnesota and his family moved to American Falls in 1945. Apparently, dad was born with gold fever. He built his first sluice box at 12 years old, and the love of gold mining carried on throughout his life.
Dad got his pilot’s license at 16 and bought his own airplane, the Ballanca, when he was 23.
Dad met our beautiful mama while attending Boise Junior College. He completed his college education at Fresno State as a mechanical engineer. He worked at North American Aviation for 7 years in Los Angeles and helped design the landing gear of the X-15.
In 1959 mama went to Los Angeles to propose. Dad said, “I don’t know if I love you, but I think we can make it work.” They eloped to Las Vegas July 4, 1959 and have been happily married for 62 years.
In 1963 FMC was hiring engineers so they moved back to American Falls. In 1966 dad and mom joined the Sage Riders Motorcycle Club and thus began years of motocross and cross-country racing. Long days in the desert waiting for our knight in shining armor to ride in.
Dad retired after 30 years at FMC and from then on it was full on gold mining. He proceeded to obtain and work many mining claims along the Snake River. He eventually had a large backhoe, dump truck, and huge sluice that he designed himself. Mining became his full-time hobby and job.
Then at the ripe age of 70 he bought a Harley Sportster and there began a new journey.
Dad’s passion for speed and dirt is in our blood and forever will be a part of all of us.
It was a grand adventure, and we were privileged to be a part of it.
Denver is survived by his wife Marjorie Linscheid; daughters Cindy (Marty) Deeg, Wendy Linscheid; sister Devota (Mike) Szlachetka; brother Dallas (Gayle) Linscheid; Grandchildren Kelsey (Allan) Vanderford, Brennan Deeg, Mariah Deeg, Oakley Linscheid, and Cedar Linscheid. Great grandchildren Addison and Kaleb Vanderford.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Linscheid, his mother Thelma Cary, and sister Diane McMillan.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday October 2, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Falls View Cemetery in American Falls.  Visit DavisRoseMortuary.com to share memories and condolences.
