John F. Wilson - February 23, 1960 - April 02, 2022

Departed: 04/02/2022 (Warren)
Obituary Preview: John Frederick Wilson, age 62, passed away on April 2nd, 2022 surrounded by family after a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. John was the beloved husband of Mira for 26 years. He was the son of David Wilson and the dear Son-In-Law of Henry and Bozenna Rozkowski. He was loved by his sisters Laurie (Mike) Boutorwick and Sue (Evan) King.  He was the brother-in-law of Anne (Tom) Brandt and Carl (Allison) Rozkowski. He loved his two nephews Bobby and Matthew Boutorwick. John was born in Ottawa, Canada and moved to the United States when he was 14 years old. He enlisted in the Army at age 17 and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He became an excellent skier and as a result, he was made part of the Army's Ski Patrol. Once he was discharged, John came back to Michigan to help his family. He bought a house and began working at Webasto Sunroofs in Auburn Hills, MI. John was employed with Webasto Sunroofs for 35 years. He started out on the production line and due to his strong work ethic and dedication to the company, he was quickly promoted to be Webasto's local Truck Driver. John loved being a truck driver. He was always looking for ways to improve efficiency in his supplier pick-ups. He went from having 5 supplier pick-ups to 23 supplier pick-ups per week. This increase saved his company $207,000 per year. He never missed work and was given a Perfect Attendance Award every quarter. He was awarded Ryders Truck Driver of the Year Award, and was always willing to drop everything for a "hot" run. His manager once stated that "he approached each work day as if it were his first" due to his positive attitude and energy. John's greatest love was hockey. He was an excellent skater who could play any position. John could skate backward as fast as he could skate forward and he was great at winning his face-offs. His wrist-shot was so hard that he once cracked a plastic hockey puck in two. His earliest childhood memory was of himself skating on a pond in Canada at 4 years old. It was not uncommon for John to be on 3 or 4 teams each season. He loved the sport so much that he started a hockey team at Webasto Sunroofs and due to his coaching, they had an undefeated season. In addition to playing, he also loved to coach hockey. John coached his nephew Bobby for many years in Travel Hockey. He was always willing to teach anyone who was interested to skate and play the sport.  John was a happy, easy-going, unselfish, caring man who always had a smile or a joke for anyone he met.  He will be missed by all who knew him. As his wife, he was the love of my life, my best friend and the rock in our relationship. He always supported me in any crazy goal I wanted to achieve. I looked forward to coming home to him and spending time with him. Our marriage was comfortable and easy and I loved just being next to him. When he became sick he never complained or got angry or cried. He took every increasing disability in stride and continued forward in life until his body couldn't do it anymore. I am in awe of him for that. He taught our entire family how to quietly bear the cross that life gives you. John will be forever missed. Rest in Peace John...you deserve it.  Visitation Wednesday, April 6th from 5-8pm with rosary at 5pm at David Wysocki Funeral Home 29440 Ryan Road, Warren MI 48092. Cheryll Lynn Odendahl - October 24, 1952 - December 25, 2021

Departed: 12/25/2021 (Warren)
Obituary Preview: Cheryll Lynn Odendahl (Moilanen) of Harrison Township, Michigan, passed away December 25, 2021.  She was 69. She is survived by her husband, Richard Odendahl. She was the first child of Walter and Pauline (Leinonen) Moilanen, both deceased. Cheryll's surviving siblings are Paul Moilanen (married to Mary Ann Pascua) and Kathy Ann Moilanen (married to Edward Vuylsteke). She was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and countless friends. Growing up in Warren, Michigan, Cheryll went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Oakland University and a Masters Degree in Business from Central Michigan University. But she didn't need her business degree to find a good deal/sale--especially on shoes--and did so wherever she went!
Cheryll worked for 34 years in various administrative positions at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, taking pleasure in using her intense organizational skills. She retired in 2006. She met Rich at work in 1985 and they were married in 1993. She and Rich loved to travel. They have visited 149 countries and territories during their time together including all of the world's continents, even climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and taking her parents to beloved Finland.  After Rich retired in 2011, adventures have focused on many trips on their Ranger Tug(boat) “Roam” to places including all of the Great Lakes, Alaska, Florida, The Bahamas and Cuba. Trip reports can be found at http://odendahls.com/
She died peacefully while napping at home after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in March. ALS is also sometimes called “Lou Gehrig's Disease”, while younger people know it as what afflicted Stephen Hawking. Her diagnosis was something she wanted to keep private and we respected that. We are all thankful that she did not have a prolonged battle with this debilitating disease as so many others experience.
With the current COVID-19 situation, there are no immediate plans for a memorial. If you wish, donations in Cheryll’s memory can be made to the two organizations that have been so helpful this past year: ALS of Michigan https://alsofmichigan.org The ALS Association https://www.als.org
Please share a memory, thought, or prayer with the family here on Cheryll's Tribute Wall.
