Marilyn J. Muranyi - March 06, 1936 - April 20, 2024

Departed: 04/20/2024 (Toledo)
Obituary Preview: Marilyn J. Muranyi, 88, of Toledo, passed away on April 20, 2024, at 3:05am. She was born March 6, 1936, in Toledo to Edward T. and Helen (Good) Lennex. Marilyn graduated in 1954 from Whitmer High School and attended Valparaiso Lutheran University. She was married November 1st , 1958, to Joseph T Muranyi Sr. for 39 years before he passed in 1997. Marilyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always put her husband's and children's needs ahead of her own. Through thick and thin, Marilyn and Joe always managed to have an annual summer vacation, usually renting a lake front cottage in Upper Michigan or Ontario and revolved around fishing and exploring the outdoors. Mom spent endless hours in the kitchen cooking for "her men" and always did it with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. Preparing meals for her family never seemed like a chore to her and that joy of providing for her family was passed on to her sons, who all developed a love of cooking from observing their mother's actions.
After raising her three sons, she also worked at People's Savings & Loan and then retired as a bookkeeper from the YMCA after many years of service.
Marilyn clearly understood the role as a Christ Follower and mother. She made sure all three of her children were raised in the church, knowing the importance of trying to follow the Ten Commandments, asking the Lord for help when life gets difficult and thanking him when prayers were answered. She continued to encourage her grandchildren and great grandchildren to seek God, and to be loving and honest to everyone.
Marilyn's faith in Christ was her foundation throughout her life, she was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Toledo. Her faith could be seen in her actions in serving others daily and throughout her life. Over time, her ways of serving changed as her resources or physical abilities would permit. When she was younger, she cooked many meals for boy scout events, parties, funerals, church functions, shut-ins or someone that just needed help. She visited many people in nursing homes and hospitals to comfort people when they needed it most. When she couldn't drive any more, she made sure to keep in phone contact with friends who might have lost a spouse or who were living alone, just to let them know somebody cared about them. Even at age 88 she would text people daily on her "flip phone" just to say good morning, I love you. Even in her last days she always asked the Lord to help others before asking for help for herself.
She is survived by two sons, Edward (June) Muranyi and Douglas (Patti) Muranyi; daughter-in-law, Deborah Muranyi; grandchildren, Joseph T. Muranyi III, Cory J. Modrowski, Amanda Modrowski; great-grandchildren, Joseph T. Muranyi IV, Kylie, Nevaeh and Jaydin; brother-in-law, Jeff Galyas, sisters-in-laws Sharon Freise and Sandy Houk. She also had many cousins and second cousins. She was preceded in death by husband Joseph T. Muranyi Sr.; parents, Edward and Helen Lennex, son, Joseph T. Muranyi Jr, and grandson, Christopher Modrowski.
Visitation will be held Tuesday April 23, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4703 N. Summit St, Toledo, Ohio 43611. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm and her celebration of life reception will be held in the lower level of the church following the service, Pastor Mark Kuhlman, presiding.

Departed: 04/04/2024 (Toledo)
Obituary Preview: Carol June Boyer, 94, of Marysville, OH (formerly of Toledo, OH) passed away April 4, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Marysville, OH. She had resided at Heritage Senior Living in Marysville, OH for the past three years. She was born July 23, 1929 in Bowling Green, OH to Raymond and Violet (Cooley) Clouser. Carol graduated, with honors, from Bowling Green HS where she was recognized for her academic, artistic, and leadership endeavors. After high school, she worked as a controller at H.J. Heinz Tomato factory In Bowling Green.
Carol met her future husband, LaMar Boyer, while ice skating at the former Toledo Sports Arena. They were married for 60 years until LaMar passed away In January of 2014. The couple had six children together. Carol had a very full life. She worked diligently to provide wonderful learning experiences for the children. There were art lessons, every Saturday, at the Toledo Art Museum during the school year. Every child was given an opportunity to learn an instrument. Each summer, everyone helped in the garden to grow lovely tomatoes, rhubarb, asparagus, and many other fruits and vegetables. Of course, in the fall harvest, everyone learned and helped in canning the
bounty from the garden. Manhattan Nazarene Church was an integral component of family life. Carol taught second grade Sunday School class for many years. She loved her young charges dearly. She also was very involved in planning and executing many memorable church activities such as Mother-Daughter banquets, Halloween parties, and various other church functions.
Besides raising six children, she served as the bookkeeper to her husband's construction business. Carol had an extraordinary eye for detail in maintaining records for his business and helped LaMar be successful in his business. The Palm Sunday tornado of 1965 destroyed the new family home. The youngest child was only two months old. However, through lots of hard work and support from others, the family was back in the home one year later.
Once the children were grown and gone, Carol and LaMar began ballroom dancing. They enjoyed the experience at many local events as well as on cruises. The Toledo Blade and Point Place newspapers featured them, numerous times, at Toledo ballroom dances. Whitmer High School hosts a "Senior Citizen Prom". A photograph of Carol and LaMar dancing has been featured on the Whitmer "Senior Prom" brochure over many years. In addition to dancing, Carol filled her days with gardening. She was widely known as the "Tomato Lady" as she would grow and sell tomatoes from 60-80 tomato plants. To fulfill her artistic nature, Carol also learned to paint ceramics, "toyed" with making doll houses and accessorizing them, and made a number of wreaths and floral arrangements for local craft shows.
In her later years, Carol befriended several neighbor ladies. She encouraged them, taught gardening and canning techniques to them, and was a comforting source of wisdom for these precious ladies. Her church family, at Northpoint Church of the Nazarene, was very dear to her and engaged her in various outings and activities for special time together in Christian fellowship.
She loved her family and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Zoah May Clouser Meade, brother, Donald Eugene Clouser, grandson, Joshua David Huffman, and great-granddaughter, Mabel Jeffers. She is survived by daughters, Carla (David) Huffman of Marysville, OH, Sherry (Robert) Bartz of Kathleen, GA, and Beth Caldwell of Midlothian, VA; sons, David (Jenae) Boyer of Salt Lake City, UT, Brian Boyer of Toledo, OH and Timothy (Faith) Boyer of Petersburg, Ml; twelve grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who knew them. They can help notify people of the person's passing, share details about their life, and provide information about funeral services or memorial events.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased. In some cases, a funeral home or obituary writer may assist with writing the obituary. The writer should aim to capture the essence and personality of the deceased in a concise and respectful manner.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service (if applicable), hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members.
