Obituary Preview: Juanita Lee Brant, 82, of Julian, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Colonial Courtyard in Tyrone, PA. Born on October 24, 1940, in Pender City, NC, she was the daughter of the late Randall & Lucille (Norris) Bain, Sr. On May 27, 1961, in Gray PA, she married the love of her life, James E. Brant. James passed away on October 16, 2017.
Juanita was a 1958 graduate of Dublin High School and attended a business school. She was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Laurel United Church Christ Church and the Bald Eagle Baptist Church.
Juanita and James traveled in their younger years, especially heading west. She enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, and picking berries at Black Moshannon. She was an excellent cook and loved taking care of her family. She would spend a lot of time sitting on the front porch, watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren playing in the yard.
Juanita is survived by two sons, Arthur Brant and his wife, Tammy, of Julian, James Brant and his wife, Shari, of Sandy Ridge, and Melissa Brant Lee and her husband, Avery, of Julian; seven grandchildren: Brett Brant, Donovan Brant, Kyle Brant, Nicole Owens, Terra Rene` Haines, Brittany Brant, and Joshua Brant, and 14 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her three brothers: Jerry Bain, Willie Bain, Johnny Bain; four sisters: Mary Watson, Frannie Penny, Betty Roberts, and Darlene Moore all of North Carolina.
Along with her parents and husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirlene Rene` Beranty; four brothers, Bobby Bain, Jimmy Bain, Walter Bain, and Randall Bain, Jr and three sisters: Lida Pearl Bain, Alma Davis, and Janie O’Mary.
Public visitation will be on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 5-7pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. Graveside service will be on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:30am at the Beams Cemetery in Gray, PA with Rev. Dr. Joe Beer officiating.
Juanita’s family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Colonial Courtyard in Tyrone for the compassionate care they gave her. There are no words to express our thanks.

John J Robison - December 28, 1926 - October 01, 2023

Obituary Preview: John J. Robison, 96, of Runville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Centre Care Nursing Center in Bellefonte. Born on December 28, 1926, in Unionville, he was the son of the late John M. and Gertrude (Woodring) Robison. On August 29, 1947, in Maryland, he married Phyllis J. ”Janie” Fye. Janie passed away on March 14, 2022.
John attended the Bellefonte Area Schools. He enlisted in the Army on March 9, 1945, and received his honorable discharge on November 22, 1946. He was part of the 243 Port Company-United States Army of 1945 Reunion Group. He received the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), World War II Victory Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon for his service time.
John graduated from Coyne Radio and Television Repair and became a Certified Technician in 1951. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad until his retirement. He also worked at Penn Tran through the times he was laid off from the railroad. He held a General License for Ham Radio, and his call letters were W3GKD.
John was a member of the La Societe Des 40 Hommes ET 8 Chevaux (40 and 8), Nittany Amateur Radio Club, Quarter Century Wireless Association Inc, Senior Citizens Club of Fleming, Union National Grange, and the Renovo Railroad Organization. He was life member of the American Legion in Bellefonte, VFW in Bellefonte, Milesburg, and Snow Shoe, The Bellefonte Elks Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles in both Bellefonte and Renovo, Fraternal Order of Police, the Undine Fire Company, and Loyal Order of the Moose in both Bellefonte and Williamsport. John was a founding member of the Railroader Heritage Corporation better known as the Horseshoe Curve and a life member of the Altoona Railroad Memorial Museum. These are only a few of the organizations John attended and was proud to be a member.
John enjoyed record collection of thousands, playing guitars and keyboards, collecting antiques, and going to yard sales. He was a member of the Mills Brothers Society and loved listening to older county music.
John is survived by his son, Gary L. Robison and his wife, Linda, of Blairsville, PA; a daughter, Linda J. Herr and her husband, John, of Dauphin, PA; six grandchildren: Steven Robison (Billi), Terri Medellin (Abram), Gregory Robison (Miriam Godwin), Jennifer Comly, Jeannine Comly, and Brian Comly (Dawn); and six great grandchildren: Catherine, Thomas, Emily, Sarah, Charlie, and Nicholas.
Along with his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by six brothers: Basil, Charles, William, Andrew, Kenneth, and Harry; and two sisters: Annabelle and Helen Louise.
Public viewing will be on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 10-11am, followed by a funeral service at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg with Pastor Rose Sciabica officiating. Military honors will be given at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest beside his wife at the Advent Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Doris Jean Partridge, 92, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. She had been a resident at Foxdale Village in State College since 2021 where she received wonderful care. Born on March 3, 1931 and raised in Hughesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rolland D. and Hazel B. (Johnson) Poust . She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence Roy Partridge, married Nov. 23, 1956, and died Nov. 19, 1988, sharing 32 short years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her sister, Helen Patricia Pugh, March 10, 2021.
She is survived by her sister’s husband, J. Loyd Pugh of Fancy Gap, VA, nephew J. Rolland Pugh of Winston Salem, NC, and nieces Rhea P. Kafer of Portland, ME and Laurie A. Moon of Lansing, NC.
Doris was an active member and organist at First Presbyterian Church of Milesburg. She also taught hundreds of piano and organ students in her lifetime, impacting them with her knowledge of music and her shining light for the Lord.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 1:30pm at the Presbyterian Church in Milesburg and then buried beside Roy Partridge in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hughesville.

Obituary Preview: Glenda Marie Kellerman Kelley of Milesburg passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Mount Nittany Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born October 17, 1954, the daughter of James Thomas Kellerman and Betty Jean Shaffer Kellerman. On May 29, 1989 she married Frank E. Kelley, who survives at the home they both loved in Milesburg along with beloved nieces Amy Lucas Miller, Barbara Lucas, Ginger Hedrick and nephew Jeff Lucas. She also dearly loved her nieces by marriage Michelle Kelley Kennedy, Renee Kelley Kennedy and nephew Michael Kelley. She will be heartbreakingly missed by her rowdy little dachshund Carmen and somewhat missed-usually in absentia but most notably at mealtimes-by a cat named Rodie.
She was employed by Royer Amusement & Vending, Keystone Scientific Systems, the American Philatelic Society and Penn State Law at Penn State University. Glenda was a member of the Milesburg Presbyterian Church where she was also an ordained church elder and treasurer.
A Celebration of her life will be held Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the Milesburg Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Milesburg Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund in Glenda’s name, P. O. Box 837, Milesburg, PA 16853.

James E. Brumbaugh, Jr. - May 13, 1941 - August 27, 2023

Obituary Preview: James E. Brumbaugh, Jr., 82, of Bellefonte passed away on August 27, 2023 at The Oaks Pleasant Gap. Jim was the son of the late J. Edgar and V. Irene (Kough) Brumbaugh of Smithfield and was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, Class of 1959.One of Jim's fondest childhood memories was as one of the organizers of the rubber ball baseball league that played on the Triangle. "J.B." / "Robin" was also active in the Smithfield Community Band and scouting, coached Little League, and was a member of the Smithfield Fire Company and the Jaycees. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church nearly all his life, first in Huntingdon and then in Pleasant Gap. He later served as one of organizers of the Marion-Walker Junior Baseball League and was a coach, manager, and league president throughout the years. He enjoyed walking, taking photographs at family events and history.Jim started his career with C.H. Miller Hardware Co., Huntingdon on September 23, 1960, first stocking shelves, then as an assembler. He moved to Industrial Sales and then assumed the role that lasted many years: traveling salesman. He relocated to Mingoville in 1971 to serve his new sales territory and won the next-door-neighbor lottery when he met Sally and the late Richard "Dick" Toner, who became dear friends. In Jim's 50+ years in hardware, he won numerous awards for sales achievement. He also served in the Army National Guard and attained the rank of SFC-E7. Jim was "the lovable Mess Sergeant" for five years.Jim married Sharon L. (Black) Brumbaugh in 1968 and they had two children, Kathi of Lebanon, and James (Adrianna) of Mechanicsburg. They gave him grandchildren Wyatt Caber, Preston Gould and Madison Gould.Jim remarried Audrey (Moore) Brumbaugh of Burnham in 2000, who preceded him in death on January 17, 2021. Audrey brought three children and five grandchildren into the marriage, and he loved being "Pap Jim" to Stacy Haines, Stanford Haines, Heather Hassinger, Shane Marks and Cody Moore.Jim is also survived by siblings Vera (Reed) Cox of Trilby, FL, Ruth Rohrer of Smithfield and Donald Brumbaugh of Bellefonte, and a cousin who was like a sister, Doris (Andy) Donnelly of Huntingdon. He adored his nieces and nephew, including Misty Hicks of State College who was a faithful caretaker during Jim's final years of life.Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Saturday, September 2 at the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Carrie Granche officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She was born October 17, 1933 in Peters Township, PA, the daughter of the late Guy B. Simpson and Rachel D. (Hast) Simpson. She married James H. Naylor (Jim) on May 24, 1951. They were married for 53 years until his death in 2004.During her 50 years of living in Bellefonte, Ann was active with a few small groups of friends. She and her long-term friends enjoyed bowling and socializing. Most recently she was fortunate to develop new friendships at the Grayston Court Villas where she was active playing cards and putting together jigsaw puzzles.She is survived by her five children: Sonia Hackett (Ron) of Niagara Falls, NY; J. Eric Naylor (Romayne) of Bellefonte, PA; Keith Naylor (Teresa) of Ransomville, NY; Mark Naylor (Brenda) of State College, PA; and Todd Naylor (Cherie) of Bellefonte, PA. She enjoyed her 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Chuck Simpson, Glenn Simpson, Don Simpson and Ken Simpson and one sister Marty Holmes.Services will be held at the Dean K. Also surviving is his son Michael (Ashley) Watson of Julian, his 2 grandchildren, Kayla and Megan; he is also survived by his 2 sisters, Shirley Witmer of Unionville and Nancy Emel of Milesburg, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jay Witmer, Robert Witmer, Susan Jodon and Ed Witmer. Before his retirement, "Buck" was employed at Cerro Metal Products in the Small Rod Department. "Buck" was of the Protestant faith, and was a hobby farmer, a John Deere enthusiast and an avid coffee drinker. Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5 P. M. - 7 P. M. at The Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. 201 Spring St., Milesburg with the funeral service to follow at 7 P. M. with Pastor Stephen R. Hicks, officiating. Donna carried warmth and effervescence with her always.
She was a new friend to anyone who crossed her path.

"Chuck" Chronister and Daisy Chronister of Lock Haven and Brian L. and Tiff Chronister of Bellefonte; and his step children, Randy Emmil of Pittsburgh, Timothy and Brandy Shaffer of Pleasant Gap, and Melissa Hamilton of Bellefonte. Chuck is also survived by his siblings, Connie and Howard Grubb of Bellefonte, John and Donna Chronister of Yarnell, Debbie Mitchell of Philipsburg, Larry and Tammy Chronister of Bellefonte, and Barry Chronister of Milesburg; and his grandchildren, Kayden, Jack, Talena, Mason, Kya, Greyson, Patricia, Destiny, Lex, Dusty, Kristopher and Hunter, and one great grandson Alex. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer J. Chronister and his sister-in-law Sheila Chronister.
Chuck was a 1975 graduate of Bellefonte High School and Centre County Vo Tech. He was a Grade A AutoBody Technician for Stockers and State College Ford before retiring from Joel Confer of Bellefonte in 2021. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the wildlife in his yard, riding his four wheeler, being outside in general, and especially spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his corny jokes, his one of a kind laugh and his warm hugs

Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren Aubrey, Emily, Levi, Cooper, Carter, Lincoln, Scarlett, Alexionna, Isaac and Truly. She is also survived by her sister, Lorianne (Mike) Huey of New Philadelphia, OH, and her brother, Alan (Angie) Galentine of Dickson City, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Talis Geyer, her grandson Dillon Kephart, and her siblings, Edwina Galentine and Elwood H. Galentine.
Melody was a veteran having served in the United States Army Reserve. Before her retirement, she was employed at Sheetz, as a cashier. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, yard sales, Penns Cave Antique Machinery Show and her dog Daysha.

Obituary Preview: Estella Jean (Leathers) Hicks 93 of Milesburg, PA, passes into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, June 26, 2023. Estella was born to the late Joseph Roy Bryan leathers and Myda Belle (McCartney) Leathers on March 4, 1930, in Marsh Creek, PA. She spent her early childhood on a small farm in Runville, PA. She loved helping her dad with the outside chores and helping tend the animals. She loved to tell us about going out in the pasture to bring in the cows.
Estella attended Bellefonte High School where she met her sweetheart, Joseph Hicks. She graduated with her class the spring of 1947. Later that same year Estella and Joseph were married on August 6, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD. They shared a very loving and devoted life filled with many adventures. They were always together working around the home, gardening, camping, fishing, traveling or working on one of Joe's many inventions.
Estella loved her life on what is loving known as Hicks Hill. She enjoyed watching the wildlife and even named some of the animals.
Estella loved going to yard sales where she would find a treasure. She enjoyed playing games and her favorite was scrabble. She excelled at that game.
Estella loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved going to church and being involved with the activities there. Unfortunately, during the Covid Pandemic the churches were closed and everyone was to stay home. Estella could not understand this and it really upset her that they could not see their friends. Estella was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Hicks and her siblings; Hilda Dreese, Doris Rhodes, Marjorie Minemyer, Donald Leathers, Stan Leathers, and infant sister Elizabeth Leathers. Estella is survived her her children; Susan (Paul) Thomas, North East, MD, Joseph (Maxine) Hicks, Bridgeport, OH, Pamela Hommel, Fawn Grove, PA and Yvonne (Doug) Harmon, Greenfield, IN. She is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Ream, Beech Creek, PA. Estella has 13 grandchildren;
Daniel (Nancy) Thomas, Beverly (Phil) Rockwell, Sandra (Don) Wilson, Ladanna Thomas, Tammy (Adam) Lucey, Tonya Hicks, Danita (John) Belanger, Christopher (Crystal), Hommel, Terrence (Kristy) Hommel, Heather (Walter Wade) Griffin, Emily (Chad) Wilson, Holly (Dakota) Shepard, and Amber Harmon. Along with her husband she is survived by her children, Michael R. (Kay) Shearer, Matt C. (Sommer) Waite, Mark T. (Lisa) Waite, Wendy (Travis) Quici all of Bellefonte and her sister, Jane Shearer Carter of The Colony, Texas. Also surviving are her 5 grandchildren.
Marge was a 1970 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 1971 graduate of State Beauty School in Williamsport. She worked for DiAnn's Beauty Salon in Lock Haven. In 1982 she started Marge Waite's Beauty Salon in Bellefonte. Marge was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. She was a dog lover and also had a love for flowers.

Andy most recently served the Data Integrity and Reports Officer for the International Organization for Migration in the Washington, D. C. office. He traveled worldwide helping the oppressed and people most in need.
Spending time with his family was his favorite. Visits to his parents and time spent with his daughters were the best. He lived an honorable and faithful life.
Andy is survived by his parents Lee and Margaret McCardle and brother Jeffrey McCardle of State College, PA, brother Timothy McCardle of Medford, NJ, Daughters Sofia McCardle and Victoria McCardle of Silver Spring, MD. And other nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 2 P. M. - 4 P. M. at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. 201 Spring St., Milesburg. With the funeral service to follow at
4 P. M. with Rev. Lee McCardle officiating.

John was a veteran having served in the U. S. Coast Guard, from January 23, 1967 - June 21, 1971. John received his Associate of Arts Degree at Northampton Community College in 1974, and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1978 from Penn State University. He was employed at J. C. Erlich from 1984-1993, and from 1994-1998 at Chem Tech Exterminating; from 2001-2021 he was a school bus driver, from which he retired.
He also was a U.S. Census taker in 2000. John always enjoyed telling stories and taking canoe trips. He was the drummer in the Baldheaded Blues Band. The family would like to give a special thank you to Melissa Hamilton and Paula Chronister and all of the goons! There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.

Sondra continued her education at the DuBois Business College, graduating in 1957.
On November 18, 1956, she married Jacob C. Knisely, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Allan Knisely (Susan) of Pleasant Gap, Stacia Brady (Neil) of Jacksonville, Florida and Melanie Reed of Aldie, Virginia, as well as her grandchildren Aaron Reed (Rebecca), Emily Maloof (Alexander), Andrea Reed (Zachary Berger) and Hannah Mosca (Ryan). She is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Reed, and her sister Myra Dee Kells of Salem, Ohio.
Sondra had a lengthy career as head secretary at Bald Eagle Area High School, a position from which she retired.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, where she volunteered in the library, helped make Easter eggs and worked the Christmas dinner. She was an avid reader who liked to work puzzles and especially enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania with Pastor Terry Daugherty officiating. Viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be in Reynoldsville Cemetery.
