Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries are important because they provide a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also informing others of their passing. They can also serve as a historical record of a person's life and achievements.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, an obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased, although it can also be written by a funeral home or other organization. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary in advance.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, and other details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and the individual's life story. Typically, an obituary ranges from 100 to 500 words.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a nice way to personalize the tribute and help readers visualize the person being remembered.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online publication?

The process for submitting an obituary varies depending on the publication. Some newspapers have online submission forms, while others require you to contact them directly via phone or email. Be sure to check the publication's guidelines before submitting your obituary.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?
