Lalita was a graduate of Maharanis College and worked as a schoolteacher and in various research roles across India before going to the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Bombay to pursue additional study. At TIFR, she met the love of her life, Ennackal Chandy George Sudarshan, whom she married in December 1954. Soon after, they embarked on what was to be a brief period of time in the United States of America to pursue graduate degrees at the University of Rochester in New York. Subsequently, Arvind and Ashok were born during stops in Rochester and Syracuse, New York, respectively.
In 1969, the family moved to Austin, Texas and established themselves on the local scene especially as part of the Indian community. Initially, she spent time in Tennessee with her granddaughters before finally settling in Brownsville, Texas to be closer to her grandsons and where she again began teaching as well as volunteering at the local library.
Lalita’s life was characterized by her sharp mind, her amazing memory, her love of her family and her students, her patience, her steadfastness against adversity, and most importantly, by her integrity.

Lilia E. Hinojosa - Unknown - March 10, 2022

Departed: 03/10/2022 (Brownsville)
Obituary Preview: Lilia Elizondo Hinojosa passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 96.
Lilia was born to Reynaldo Elizondo Gutiérrez and Maria Dolores Rodriguez in Cadereyta Jiménez in México. She is preceded in death by her husband Heriberto and her son Javier, her brothers Reynaldo, Ramiro, Gilberto, Romeo, and her sisters Matilde and Elvira.
Lilia lived a long and fruitful life. She found pride and joy in the accomplishments of her children, her husband, and the family business that she, her husband, and her children spent 32 years building — Hinojosa Auto Parts. She was an intelligent, loyal, and hardworking individual, who would always lend a hand to someone in need.
Lilia had no shortage of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication.  She spent most of her life raising her 5 children, spending time with her parents and siblings in México, and enjoying her grandchildren. Her energy and intelligence translated into her work as an administrator at the family business. It was here that she created her Hinojosa Auto Parts work family who all lovingly referred to her as “Mrs. H.”- La Patrona.
Lilia’s faith in God was the central part of her marriage, her family and in her day-to-day life. In her final days she continued praying the rosary and speaking to God every morning, every evening, and in the quiet moments of her day. She would often teach her grandchildren prayers, especially Ángel De La Guarda, and would recite it with them whenever they spent time together.
Lilia’s primary purpose and passion in life was her family. To love her family, and to be in service to them any way she could and whatever that meant for the changing roles of her 96 years of life — as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, businesswoman,  grandmother and beyond.
While Lilia had her strength and mobility, she was always on the go, refusing to slow down or sit down. You could always find her making her famous empanadas and pastelitos for her grandchildren, playing dominoes and cards with her loved ones, advising her family by sharing one of her favorite quotes, and reminding them that God is the final and only judge that matters.
While this is a tremendous loss for all those who loved her, we know she is happily reunited with her husband, son, parents, and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children Maria Graciela Hinojosa de Aguado (†Tomas), Jorge Hinojosa, Lilia Hinojosa de Villarreal (Gerardo), and Jaime Hinojosa (Salomona). She is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Visitation is on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from 4PM - 9PM in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7PM Tuesday evening. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. and continue until 11:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 12 Noon at St. Mary Mother of Church, 1914 Barnard Rd. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Lilia's grandsons Jorge Hinojosa Jr., Joel Hinojosa, Gerardo Villarreal, Genaro Villarreal, Jimmy Hinojosa, and Eduardo Aguado are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. Lilia's granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memories of Lilia may be shared at www.darlingmouser.com.

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the passing. They help to notify friends and acquaintances, provide details about funeral services and memorial events, and offer a sense of closure for those who are grieving.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the obituary is written by the family members or close friends of the deceased, with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary in advance.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial contributions, and other relevant details.

How long does it take to write an obituary?

The time it takes to write an obituary can vary depending on the complexity of the information and the writer's familiarity with the deceased. On average, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to craft a well-written obituary.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary platforms and funeral homes allow you to upload photos of the deceased to accompany the obituary. This can help to personalize the tribute and make it more meaningful for those who read it.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

To submit an obituary to a newspaper, you'll typically need to contact the paper's obituary department directly. They will provide you with guidelines on word count, formatting, and submission deadlines. Be prepared to provide detailed information about the deceased and payment for the publication fee.

Can I edit an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, it's possible to make minor corrections or updates to an obituary after it's been published. However, significant changes may not be allowed due to space constraints or editorial policies. It's best to review the obituary carefully before submitting it for publication.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?

What is a death notice?

What is the difference between an obituary and a eulogy?
