Obituary Preview: Jakia Tyler Dye, 30, of Riverside, Ohio, left this life on April 15, 2024. After a long battle with his mental health, depression and alcoholism, his pain became unbearable. After failed attempts at seeking help, he saw suicide as his only option. Jakia is preceded in death by his grandfather, David Padgett, and his great-grandparents, Wilma and Michael Williams. He is survived by his two beautiful daughters who were his reason for staying as long as he could, Zaniyah Lee Dye, and Zoella Jane Dye. He is also survived by his loving mother, Amanda Padgett, his step-father and best friend, Lawrence Beard, his siblings who he meant everything to, Tristan Beard, Lawson Beard, and Kyra Beard, his grandmother, Debra Padgett, uncles Michael Coulter, Jonathan Hoban and Christopher Hoban, cousins Cameron, Hayden, Layla, Luca, and Cristian, Godmother Tyra Patterson, Special Aunt, Shawnalita, many more friends and family who adored him, the mother of his children, Patricia Seebach, the entire Dye family and his cherished cat, Rocky. Jakia proudly served his country as a Specialist in the United States Army for 4 years. He was Airborne and attached to the JFK Special Warfare Center and School as an 88M at Fort Liberty (Bragg), N.C.
Let there be no whispering, no secrets here. Our hearts are broken. Jakia took his own life. And even though it might appear that he died by his own hand, no one does this without terrible pain and inner suffering that seems to have no end. Source of compassion, help us to cry out loud, to hold each other gently, to live with unanswerable questions, with these feelings of anger and guilt, with this gaping loss. Help us to reach out to others who are suffering, to show them our love, to say the kind word. The sun sets and rises. We put one foot in front of the other. We hold our hearts in our hands. God of eternal peace, help us live each day. The last words that he left behind for us all were, "I NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE, I JUST DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO BE"

Lela 'Doris' Carpenter - January 01, 2024 - January 24, 2024

Departed: 01/24/2024 (Germantown)
Obituary Preview: Lela "Doris" Carpenter, a resident of Miamisburg, Ohio, peacefully departed this world on January 24, 2024, at the age of 89. She was lovingly surrounded by family at Ohios Hospice of Dayton leading up to and on the day of her journey to be with the Lord. Born on April 29,1934, in Hulen, Kentucky, she was the child of Cecil Isaac and Oxie Mary Lee (Middleton) Day and shared her childhood with two beloved brothers. She is survived by her son, Tim (Jo) Carpenter of Beavercreek, Ohio, and daughters Ercel (Tom) Trochelman and Beverly "Janie" (Chris) Herron of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Susan (Todd) Kaiser of Greenville, Ohio; a sister-in-law; Christine Day of Hamilton, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Floyd Carpenter; her brother and sister-in-law, Samuel Duane Day, and Doris Day; her brother, James Clinton Day; a son-in-law, Danny White; a grandchild, Marcus White and one great-grandchild, Rayna Danielle White. Growing up in Hulen Kentucky, Doris attended Bell County High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her father was a well-known mechanic in the region and owner of Days Garage. Her grandfather, James Middleton, was a renowned judge in Harlan County. She often spoke of her grandmother, Jane, her grandfather, Sam, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she admired and loved. In her teenage years, she found herself in a new environment as her family moved to Hamilton, Ohio. After successfully completing her studies at Hamilton High School, she graduated in the year 1951. She then attended the Butler County Business School. Upon finishing her studies there, she became a secretary for an elementary school in Hamilton. She later worked in the offices of the Standard Oil Company in Dayton. During her time in Hamilton, she attended the West Side Pentecostal Church, now known as the Hamilton Christian Center. She found joy in singing and was part of a vocal ensemble called the "Girls Quintette," alongside her closest friend, Pat "Patty" Baker. One day, while visiting a different church, she spotted a man named Floyd in the pulpit. She nudged Patty, and confidently stated, "See that guy up there. Thats the man Im going to marry." It was a classic case of love at first sight for both her and Floyd. In 1953, they tied the knot and commenced their beautiful journey of marriage. Their love story was one of devotion and mutual respect, lasting nearly 69 years until Floyds passing in 2023. Their bond remained unbroken, a testament to their enduring love. She adored her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She once wrote that if she could have hand-picked each one of them, as she did her handsome husband, she could not have possibly found any like them in all the world. Doris inherited a legacy of southern cooking and sewing from her dear mother and grandmother. These skills blossomed in Doris, making her the go-to for several sewing endeavors over the years. Her creative touch was evident in everything from the adorable outfits she crafted for her children and on special occasions to the dresses she designed for wedding parties. She even intricately designed a wedding dress for her daughter. She was the touchstone of creativity. Cooking was more than just a hobby in her family, it was a cherished tradition. Her dishes were legendary among her children, grandchildren, and others, who were ardent admirers of her chicken and dumplings, "the best" potato salad, Christmas cookies and other treats. This passion traced back to her grandmother, Sarah, who often cooked alongside her cousin, Claudia Sanders, the wife of Colonel Harlan Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Doris inherited this love for cooking, a passion she nurtured and pursued with joy for as long as she could. A visit to her home guaranteed not just a warm welcome, but also a feast that ensured no one would leave with an empty stomach. Her home was a haven of love, filled with the aroma of delicious food and the warmth of her affection. Doris was a beacon of dedication and love, instilling in her children the significance of faith and family. Alongside her husband, she guided them through life, their actions echoing the teachings of his many years in ministry. The bond between Doris and Floyd was a source of admiration for their children, who saw in their parents the epitome of love, devotion, and compassion. Their faith was not just a belief, but a driving force that influenced every decision they made. If one were to encapsulate Doris in a single word, it would undoubtedly be caring. Her heart held a profound affection for others. Whether she was acting as a caregiver, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, neighbor or friend, her love knew no bounds. Her kindness and gentleness were not just traits, but gifts she bestowed upon all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unconditional love served as the purest blessing, touching the lives of many, and she will forever live in our hearts. As she bravely battled dementia and other health issues, Doris yearned for the presence of Floyd. Her heart echoed with a profound longing, not only for him, but also for her parents and the cherished ones she deeply missed, and for the divine presence of the Lord. We find comfort in the belief that she is now in heaven, rejoicing in a grand reunion with all of them, free from the earthly shackles of pain and confusion that clouded her life here on earth. John 14:1-3Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday January 29, 2024, at the Lighthouse Indian Springs Church, 2630 Hamilton-Mason Road, where the funeral service will follow at 12 p..m., officiated by the pastor and Doris nephew, Rev. Cecil Day. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Ohios Hospice of Dayton at www.ohioshospice.org/give. Our gratitude for their exceptional services and compassionate care for our parents throughout the past year is immeasurable. Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown is serving the family.
