She was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Pawnee, the daughter of John H. and Mary E. Reynolds Nichols. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Darlene K. Fischer; a granddaughter, Ali M. Fischer; and a brother, Joseph Nichols.
Ruth Ann was a member of Hope Evangelical Free Church of Springfield. She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1958 and was the class valedictorian. She worked for Shelter Insurance Companies in Springfield for 38 years before retiring. Ruth Ann was a member of the Red Hat Society of Springfield. She also was a Chicago Bears fan and had a special love for pets.
Ruth Ann is survived by her daughter, Michele “Micki” (husband, Chris) Kolb, of Springfield; a son-in-law, Craig Fischer, of New Berlin; two grandchildren, Mia Utinske and Lacey Clark; one brother, Jack “John” (wife, Karen) Nichols, of Riverton; one sister, Rebecca Durrani, of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Declan is survived by his mother, Jordan, of Girard; his father, Justin, of Springfield; his maternal grandparents, Stephanie and Roger Emery, of Girard; his paternal grandmother, Marlene (partner, Ralph Wallace) Banker, of Springfield; a brother, Collin J. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Steve Willis; and one sister, Patricia Hampton.
Jeff was a member of Pawnee United Methodist Church and graduated from Burbank High School in California. He worked as an over the road truck driver for over 30 years.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Donna M. Willis, of Peru, Illinois; three sons, Bill Willis of Las Vegas, Nick (wife, Lisa) Hamrick of Depue, Illinois, and Jeff (wife, Hannah) Willis of Nashville, Tennessee; two daughters, Marybeth Aquilar of LaSalle, Illinois, and Breann Chandler of Athens, Illinois; several grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara King, of California.

Obituary Preview: Pawnee — John William Bates, 76, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born April 6, 1947, in Springfield, the son of Harry L. and Erma J. Edwards Bates. He married Shirley Ann Lanthripp on Aug. 24, 1985, in Springfield. John was preceded in death by his parents.
John graduated from Feitshans High School in 1965. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a driver for Ag-Land FS for eight years, retiring in 2009. He had also worked as a bus driver for the Williamsville School District for 12 years.
John loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He enjoyed watching sports and was a St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. He and his wife especially enjoyed traveling to Scotland to visit Shirley’s parents. John loved spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughter, Sofia. He also had a special place in his heart for his dog, Maggie, and his former rescue and farm dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Pawnee; one son, Michael A. (wife, Jennifer) Bates of Berlin, New Hampshire; one granddaughter, Sofia Bingham; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Frank Farrell, of Mauchline, Scotland; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (husband, Mike) Brooks of St. Louis and Pam (husband, Tad) Rice of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
John’s family will meet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee, with Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with the Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.

Obituary Preview: Pawnee — David Eugene Kramer, 73, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 3, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 7, 1950, in Batesville, Indiana, the son of Leonard F. and Agnes J. Artmeier Kramer. David married Cynthia S. Dalton on July 9, 1976, in Springfield, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bryan Kramer, in 1995; a brother-in-law, Bernard Jetter; nephews, Jeremey Witkemper and Michael Catteau Jr.; and a niece, Stephanie (Witkemper) Sester.
David graduated from Greensburg High School in 1968. After high school, he attended Purdue University and graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering. He continued his education at South Dakota State University, where he graduated in December 1973 with a master’s degree in agricultural engineering. He later obtained his professional engineer certification.
He first worked for Claude H. Hurley Co. in Elmhurst, Illinois, as a geotechnical engineer. Upon relocating to Pawnee, he worked for the state of Illinois for various agencies for over 30 years, retiring in 2007 from the Department of Economic and Consumer Affairs. After retiring from the state, he was employed with several engineering firms in northern and central Illinois.
He enjoyed bird watching, canoeing and collecting coins, and shared these hobbies with his grandchildren. He was a prolific blood donor for the Central Illinois Community Blood Center, amassing nearly 10 gallons for the benefit of others. Additionally, he was a past member of the Pawnee Lions Club and was a summer coach for Pawnee youth baseball and softball teams. When his children were younger, he could be found at all the sporting events, either being a spectator or assisting where needed. Thanks to technology, he was able to watch his oldest grandson’s football team win the Wisconsin High School state championship this past fall.
He was raised a Cincinnati Bengals and Reds fan, but as he grew older, he developed a love for the Green Bay Packers. He shared his love of the Packers with his grandkids by taking all of them to a game at Lambeau Field in 2017.
David is survived by his wife, Cynthia Kramer, of Pawnee; one son, Christoper (Rebecca) Dalton, of Pawnee; two daughters, Anne (Nat) Seiz of Pawnee and Jennifer (Ricky) Reuchlen of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Theodore Reuchlen, Christian “Chase” Dalton, Lucas, Xavier “X-man”, Abigail Seiz, and Kameron (fiancée, Rick Hollinshead) and Angelina Fiandaca; six sisters; Martha Jetter, Karen Afterkirk and Marijo (Walter) Trissler, all of Indianapolis, Barbara (Dan) Garteman of Batesville, Indiana, Priscilla Kramer of Greensburg, Indiana, and Ellen (Rich) Witkemper of Columbus, Indiana; one brother, Paul Kramer, of Greensburg, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Melinda (Michael Sr.) Catteau of Pawnee and Debra (Roland) Eckert of Libertyville, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
David’s family will meet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Auburn, with Rev. James Palakudy officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee.

Obituary Preview: Tovey — Nicholas Albert Puccetti, 20, of Tovey, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born April 18, 2003, in Springfield, the son of Mark A. and Kristin L. Howard Puccetti. Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Margaret Puccetti; his maternal grandfather, Richard Howard; and his great-grandparents.
Nick was of the Catholic faith. He graduated from Little Flower Catholic Grade School (LFS) in 2017. As a student at LFS, Nick played basketball and baseball and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 202. He then attended Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, where he lettered in wrestling during his freshman year. He later attended South Fork High School in Kincaid.
Nick was a member of Teamsters Local 710 and worked as a preloader at UPS in Springfield. He also worked at Krekel’s in Pawnee. Nick was lovingly known by his friends and family as someone who loved to clown around and play pranks. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved his dog, Biscuit. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Nick was also a registered organ donor with Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network.
Nick is survived by his parents, Mark and Kristin Puccetti, of Tovey; one brother, Jacob Puccetti, of Tovey; and his grandmother, Patricia Howard, of Kincaid.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned.

She was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Springbrook, North Dakota, the daughter of Daniel M. and Martha Drier Brawner. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Delores Muncy; two brothers, Dwane Brawner and Orion Brawner; and a great-grandson, Hunter Langheim.
She was a member of Calvary Church in Springfield. Lorna graduated from Pawnee High School in 1943 and worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a traffic analyst for over 30 years. She was dedicated to her family and was affectionately called “Grandma Cookie” because of her excellent baking skills.
During her lifetime, she served her local church faithfully as a vocalist, pianist, Sunday school teacher and administrator. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and her family. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Lorna is survived by one daughter, Sharon Matthews, of Springfield; one son, Gary (wife, Mary Beth) Russell, of Pawnee; five grandchildren, Christie Matthews, Alison (husband, Eric) Mills, Greg Matthews, Jordon Russell and Lane (wife, Jessica) Russell; and six great-grandchildren.

Larry J. Wright - November 25, 1934 - February 08, 2024

Obituary Preview: Pawnee — Larry Joseph Wright, 89, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 25, 1934, on his family’s farm south of Pawnee in Christian County, the son of Hallie H. and Margaret “Maggie” Fines Wright. He married Wilma E. Lowder on Aug. 16, 1997, in Las Vegas. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Schiesser; and two brothers, Hallie “Jr.” Wright and Roger Wright.
Larry attended Pawnee High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving four years as an airman third class. He was a member of the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pawnee and the Christian County Farm Bureau. He was also a Third Degree member of the Pawnee Knights of Columbus Council 6379.
Larry worked on his family’s farm until he was 80 years old. He started his career as a truck driver for Crown Trucking Inc. in Pawnee and later drove for Elm Trucking, now Whalen Trucking, for 40 years. He logged over 1 million miles during his career. Larry was a Johnny Cash fan, and he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Wright, of Pawnee; five sons, Michael J. (wife, Melana) Wright of Copperas Cove, Texas, David J. (wife, Brandie) Wright of Pawnee, Christopher Lowder of Pawnee, Brett Mourey of Pawnee and Jamie Tuttle of Red Bluff, California; two daughters, Angela (husband, Dean) Fox of Havana and Jodie (husband, Jason) Shudrowitz of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, including two great-grandsons, Cole and Cayden Crowder, whom Larry and Wilma raised; one sister-in-law, Margie Wright, of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Larry’s family will meet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Willenborg officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee, with the Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Tammy Serfes.
Mike was a loving husband and father and a faithful, God-fearing person. He was raised in Montana before returning to Illinois and graduated from Buffalo Tri-City High School in 1990. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Colorado Technical University. He was a certified nursing assistant for over 20 years and had worked at Billings Clinic Broadwater in Townsend, Montana, and Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Virden, Illinois. Mike also had over 20 years of experience in management positions in retail.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Schuh, of Chatham; two children, Aiden M. Schuh and Jamie J. Schuh, both at home; one brother, Gary W. (wife, Catherine) Russell, of Helena, Montana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was born Oct. 23, 1957, in Springfield, the son of Bill A. and Frances K. Sedlack Danner. He married Pamela Sue Long on June 23, 2012, in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and an aunt, Mary Sedlack.
Bill graduated from Rochester High School in 1975 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in physical education. Bill was a teacher, coach and athletic director for over 30 years, teaching at Lincolnwood High School in Raymond, Springfield College in Illinois and Lincoln Land Community College, both in Springfield, and Immoklee Middle School in Immoklee, Florida. Bill was also a coach and athletic director at Little Flower Catholic Grade School in Springfield. He retired in 2011.
Bill was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. He loved college basketball and was a huge Illini fan.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Danner, of Pawnee; two sons, Benjamin J. (wife, Kim) Danner of Auburn and Joseph A. (wife, LaTatia) Danner of Springfield; one sister, Mary K. (husband, Paul) Thomas, of Middletown, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brooklyn, Payton, Jaxon, Aria and Roman; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary, in 2012; and her sister, Connie Young, in 2018.
Sandi graduated from Pawnee High School in 1968. She was a charter member of Pawnee Women of Today and was a homemaker. She helped run Hill Excavating alongside her husband, Gary, for more than 40 years. Sandi loved her family, and she considered her grandchildren to be the love of her life. She also loved family trips to the Ozarks, bingo at the Pawnee United Methodist Church, senior dinners at Pawnee Christian Church and outings with her niece Lindsey.
Sandi is survived by her three daughters, Aimee L. (husband, Daniel) Kaiser, Alana L. (husband, Josh) Ward and Allison L. (husband, Jonathan) Stewart, all of Pawnee; eight grandchildren, Brice and Elizabeth Kaiser, Claire, Caden and Canon Ward and Paislie, Skyelie and Brexlie Stewart; one brother-in-law, Bob Young, of Pawnee; one nephew; two nieces; and several cousins.

He was born May 20, 1994, in Springfield, the son of Vincent W. and Samantha L. Gudgel Donahue. He married Sierra N. Jones on Sept. 25, 2020, in Springfield. Sean was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walt Gudgel; paternal grandparents, Jack and Karen Donahue; a half-brother, Wade Donahue; and a half-sister, Amanda Donahue.
Sean attended Pawnee High School. He was a truck driver for Ramsey Trucking Inc. in Rochester. He had previously worked in the concrete business for more than 10 years, including with Bill Langheim Concrete Service in Pawnee and with his uncle Walt Gudgel at Gudgel Concrete.
Sean was a loving husband and father, and family was extremely important to him. He loved working with his hands, whether that involved working in his garage or fixing things. He also loved riding motorcycles, playing pool, fishing and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Sierra Donahue, of Springfield; one son, Jameson L. Donahue, at home; his father, Vince W. (wife, Kathleen) Donahue, of Decatur; his mother, Samantha Donahue, of Springfield; one brother, Dallas Donahue, of Springfield; two sisters, Virginia (fiancé, Zack Meridith) Donahue of Riverton and Kelly A. Donahue of Pontiac; two nieces, Katie Edwards and Jordyn Meridith; one nephew, Wade A. Lucas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Lyle and Virginia Makowski Neeman. She married John Jay Dougherty on May 2, 1959, at St. Anthony’s Church in Menlo Park, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 2014; a son, James L. Dougherty, in 2004; a grandson, Robbie West; and a brother, Glen Neeman.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. Liela worked in the dietary department at St. Joseph’s Home in Springfield for over 10 years. She also worked in the cafeteria and was a playground supervisor for Pawnee schools.
Liela graduated from Lakeview High School in St. Claire Shores, Michigan. She and her husband were members of the Chummy Chainers Square Dance Club in Chatham. Liela had many hobbies, including playing cards, feeding people — she was the queen of casseroles, fishing and traveling.
Liela is survived by her two sons, John J. (companion, Penny Chesher) Dougherty Jr. and Jerry Dougherty, both of Pawnee; one daughter, Diana (husband, Jim) Love, of Springville, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (wife, Jean) Neeman of Downey, California, and Lyle (wife, Kelly) Neeman of Springfield; two nephews; and several cousins.

Obituary Preview: Pawnee — Cecil Edward “Ed” Bowen Jr., 86, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield. He was born April 17, 1937, in Pawnee, the son of Cecil E. Bowen Sr. and Lula H. Brewer Bowen. He married Jacqueline A. Schuecking on Sept. 26, 1959, at Pawnee United Methodist Church. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey W. Bowen, in 2019; one brother, James Bowen; and three sisters, Elizabeth Mae “Sue” Gilmore, Edith M. “Monnie” Deavult and Shirley I. Gilbert.
Ed graduated from Ball Township High School in 1955 and was a member of Pawnee United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1956 to 1966, obtaining the rank of chief warrant officer 2 (CW2). During the Vietnam War, Ed served as a helicopter pilot, and he received several medals and commendations for his service, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters, Army Aviator Badge, Army Commendation Medal with 10 oak leaf clusters and the National Defense Service Medal.
After completing his military service, Ed worked in real estate sales, and he and his wife owned Ed and Jackie’s Tavern and Jackie’s Package Liquor in Pawnee, as well as Bowen Safety Consultants. He also worked for George A. Mueller Beer Co. and was a private helicopter pilot for Sangamo Construction Co.
Ed is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Jackie Bowen, of Pawnee; two sons, Edward L. Bowen of Springfield and Timothy A. Bowen of Pawnee; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter O. (wife, Susan) Bowen, of Bakersfield, California; one sister, Carolyn (husband, Jack) Alspaugh, of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, with the Rev. Bobby Davis officiating and the Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors.

Dan graduated from Lanphier High School in 1963. He worked at Cilco (now Ameren) for 28 years and retired in 1997 as a supervisor. He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower, Springfield Dominican Associates, Lincoln Land Woodturners, Capital Area Woodworkers Guild and the Springfield Art Association. He also was a past president of the Salvation Army of Springfield.
Dan loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Mary Anne, also loved to travel and take cruises to various destinations around the world.
Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Anne Chevalier, of Springfield; two sons, Michael B. (wife, Melissa) Chevalier of Carmel, Indiana, and Brian R. (wife, Lyndsay) Chevalier of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Emma, Vivienne and Carter; three brothers, Terry (wife, Bonnie) Chevalier of Divernon, Ricky (wife, Diane) Chevalier of Langleyville and Rodney (wife, Lisa) Chevalier of Carlinville; one sister, Renee (wife, Sheryl Dyer) Chevalier, of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Jane Chevalier of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodger lived in Pawnee since 1954 and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1960. He was a member of Pawnee Christian Church. He was a self-employed carpenter from 1963 to 2005 and a member of the Carpenters Local 16. Rodger loved to race at Drag City, antiques and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by one son, Rodger E. “Gene” (wife, Candee) Acree, of New Berlin; six grandchildren, Joel, Jason, Aaron, Amber, Alan and Alex; one sister-in-law, Cathy Acree, of Pawnee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Goldesberry, in junior high, and they later married Sept. 30, 1967, at the Church of the Little Flower. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Donna, in 2022.
Robert graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield in 1967 and was part of the last graduating class. He retired in 2016 from a varied career in construction and as manager of a restaurant chain. He was a history and Civil War buff and was able to tour several Civil War sites recently, which was a lifelong dream come true for him. He also was a talented carpenter and woodworker.
He is survived by one son, Mike (Cindy) Hall, of Petersburg; one daughter, Leslie (Mike) Thornton, of Springfield; two granddaughters, Kacee Hall and Allie Reeves; two sisters, Carol Isaacs of Springfield and Donna Meyers of San Diego; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, with Rev. Al Kemme officiating.

Bobby graduated from St. Agnes Catholic School, Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in 2006 and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2010. He worked for the State of Illinois for about 10 years, including at the Illinois State Comptroller’s office, the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal and the Elizabeth Parsons Ware Packard Mental Health Center, all in Springfield.
He was a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer and was devoted to personal health, fitness and wellness. He loved visiting Colorado, hiking and cycling, and he enjoyed astronomy. He also volunteered locally with the Fishing Has No Boundaries program. Bobby loved spending time with his family and friends and was always concerned about others.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Kathy Maxey of Springfield; two sisters, Emily K. (husband, David) Drennan of Sherman and Elizabeth L. Maxey of Springfield; one niece, Eloise; one nephew, Eli; one aunt, Mary (husband, David) Moreland of Chatham; three uncles, Steve (wife, Fran) Durako of Silver Springs, Maryland, Jim Durako and Bob (wife, Deb) Durako, both of Springfield; and one cousin, Chris Maxey, of Austin, Texas.
A private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.

Marie graduated from Depue High School in 1950 and St. John’s School of Nursing in 1953. She worked in the surgery department at St. John’s Hospital, retiring in 1994 after 30 years of service.
She was a member of the Church of the Little Flower, Little Flower’s St. Theresa Guild, UCT Capitol Council 95, Dominican Associates to Lay Dominicans and St. Louis DeMarilac. She was also a former member of the Cache Club and Serra Club.
Marie was wholeheartedly devoted to her Catholic faith, and she lived out her faith daily, demonstrating her love, faith and service to her church, her family and to others she met or helped. She loved spending time with her family, her church family and friends. She was a master gardener and enjoyed planting flowers and working in her yard and gardens.
Marie is survived by her husband, Jim, of Springfield; one son, Stephen G. (wife, Nancy) Pope, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; one daughter, Catherine Seals, of Windermere, Florida; two grandchildren, Chloe and Peyton Seals; one sister, Isabelle Ferrero, of Depue; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and a great-great niece.

Dianne began her education at Webster School in Quincy. She and her family moved to Jacksonville so Dianne could attend the Illinois School for the Deaf, where she graduated from in 1971. She was a member of Literberry Christian Church, and she and her husband were former members of the Jacksonville Community Center for the Deaf. Dianne worked at Bound to Stay Bound Books in Jacksonville for more than 30 years.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She also loved to cook and enjoyed crocheting and playing solitaire.
Dianne is survived by one son, Jim S. (Stephanie) Bateman, of Arenzville; three grandchildren, Brooklynn H. Bateman, William S. Bateman and Hayden Upchurch; one brother, Tom (Joanne) Moore, of Literberry; one brother-in-law, David Bateman, of Kansas; one sister-in-law, Connie Butler, of Jacksonville; one stepbrother, Rusty Lewis, of Ashland; one stepsister, Janet (Ed) McClure, of Ashland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family services will be held, with burial at Arcadia Cemetery in rural Jacksonville.

Joyce also managed an optical store, was an avid entrepreneur and had been a model in her youth, as well as a beautician. She loved her dog, Jazmine, and her other pets who preceded her in death.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Bobby; two brothers, Joseph R. Diaz of Tacoma, Washington, and David R. (wife, Debbie) Diaz of Herrin, Illinois; five nieces and nephews, Danny Diaz, Stacey Diaz, Dave Diaz, Jacob Diaz and Matthew Diaz; and six great-nieces and great-nephews, Sierra Corzine, Olivia Diaz, Sydney Corzine, Gavin Diaz, Tristan Works and Liam Works; and several cousins.

Bobby loved woodworking, fishing and working in his yard. He always had a smile and a joke or funny story to share. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and he enjoyed sharing a good meal with family and friends.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dianne, of Literberry; one son, Jim S. (Stephanie) Bateman, of Arenzville; three grandchildren, Brooklynn H. Bateman, William S.
