Deb was a 1974 graduate of Kiski Area High School and was a homemaker.
She enjoyed horses, singing, and yard sales. Deb loved spending time with her family, specifically her grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Susan D. Tonecha.
Deb is survived by her husband of 26 years, Howard Evans, Jr. of Allegheny Twp.; children, Thomas R. (Heather) Fouse of Saltsburg, Mark M. Fouse of Allegheny Twp., Tanya D. Confer of West Leechburg, Robert J. Fouse of Apollo; many grand and great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert E. Smeltzer of North Vandergrift, Linda J. (Tracy) Lape of Washington Twp.; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Little Bit.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Curran- Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 100 Owens View Ave. Apollo. Services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Holmes officiating. Private burial in Pine Run Church Cemetery, Washington Township.

Born on August 1, 1962 in New Kensington, she was a daughter of the late Daniel P. Bartoe and Patricia Costrini.
Beth was a 1980 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School and Lenape Vo-Tech. She worked as an assistant highway designer for PENNDOT-Bridgeville District 11, retiring in 2018.
Beth was a member of the Apollo Elks Club #386, where she served as vice chair of the West Pennsylvania Elk Association for Veterans. She was also a member of the Leechburg Moose and the East Vandergrift Polish Club.
Beth enjoyed swinging on her porch swing, going to the casino and especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Patty Bartoe.
Beth is survived by her husband James L. “Jim” Waltenbaugh of Apollo, daughters, Angela M. Bertino of Parks Township, Trisha L. (Ronald) Kemerer of Apollo; and her grandchildren, Celeste, Collin, Nick, Tori, Fallon and Adeline.

Born December 1, 1939 in Bell Township he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angeline (Scaglione) Fanelli. He was a 1958 graduate of Bell-Avon High School and a veteran of the United States Army.
Sam was the classified advertisement manager for the Valley News Dispatch for several years. He was the owner and operator of Riverview Homes, Inc. and Pleasant Valley Manufactured Homes, Inc. where he was active until 2019.
Sam was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Avonmore.
He enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Sam would spend time reading the newspaper and relaxing at his swimming pool. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, specifically his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Nick and Joseph Fanelli.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carole D. (Foster) Fanelli of Bell Twp., sons, Robert V. (Kim) Fanelli of Ford City, John D. (Tiffany) Fanelli of Bell Twp.; granddaughters, Krysta (Evan) Taylor, Genna (Justin) Mancine, Jessica Fanelli; great grandchildren, Avery, Luna, Nova, Piper, Theo, Henry; siblings, Filomena Varvaro of Westview, Carmela Fanelli of Westview, Leon Fanelli of Bell Twp.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 100 Owens View Ave. Apollo. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church 505 Cambria Ave. Avonmore, PA 15618 with Father John Harrold as celebrant. Obituary Preview: On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, James Ardell “Crow” Crawford, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 77.
Born August 28, 1946 in Kittanning to the late James H. and Elaine (Orton) Crawford.
Jim was originally from Ford Cliff, and was a 1964 graduate of Ford City High School.
On March 9, 1974, he married Barbara Ann Schultze. They had one son, Christopher James (fiancé Jennifer Sagan) Crawford of East Vandergrift, and granddaughters, Courtney Sagan, 23, Caitlynn, 21, and Ashley Crawford, 18.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Elaine and father James; and his mother-in-law, Pauline Schultze of Kittanning, whom he loved dearly.
Jim loved the times he spent with his granddaughters. He enjoyed hunting with his father-in-law, James Schultze, and helping him in his yard or just sitting with him, listening to stories of his life. Jim loved fishing with his son and friends, and enjoyed golfing and golf trips with his friends. Jim was a huge Elvis fan. He also loved walks on the beach and trips to Lancaster County.
Jim worked at Allegheny Ludlum for 39 years at the Bagdad plant. After retirement, Jim worked part-time at the Leechburg Advance Auto Parts Store, delivering parts to local garages for 19 years.
Jim enjoyed the company of his friend and neighbor Don Tomicek, sitting in front of a firepit having a beer or two, or hanging out in Don’s garage.
Jim passed away peacefully at AHN- Forbes Regional hospital with his wife & their friend, Carol Kopnicky by his side. He was greeted by his parents into Heaven’s gate, whom he lost when he was very young.
Friends will be received on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Jim will be laid to rest beside his parents in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA at the convenience of the family.

Born February 28, 1964 in Chandler, Arizona, she was a daughter of Rozanne (Patterson) Ghiardi of Avonmore, and the late Albert A. Ghiardi.
Toni was a 1982 graduate of Kiski Area High School, and worked in accounts payable at ECM Transport, Cheswick, for 24 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Avonmore.
Toni loved riding motorcycles, but nothing was more important to her than her family. She adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her father, Toni was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Martin & Emma (Swanson) Ghiardi; and her maternal grandparents, William and Ernestine (Lee) Patterson.
Besides her mother Rozanne, Toni is survived by her husband of 28 years, Andrew “Chris” Kavulick; daughters, Diana R. (Tom) Meyer of Salem Township, Maggie M. (Dave) Bush of Murrysville; son, Jansen D. Klicrease of Salem Township; grandchildren, Cole & Callen Myer, Cameron & Anna Bush; sister, Maria L. (Chris) Walton of Silverthorne, CO; brother, Martin L. (Mina) Ghiardi of Vacaville, CA; brother-in-law, Adam (JoAnne) Kavulick; sister-in-law, Rhonda (Tim Long) Garber; and her nieces and nephews, Casey, Annette, Theresa, Nicole, Anthony, Julie, Andrea, and Caitlin; and many, many other family and friends.

Born August 6, 1941 in Kittanning, she was a daughter of the late William Stewart & Pauline (Knabb) Stewart.
Linda was a 1959 graduate of Vandergrift High School. She worked for General Telephone for 25 years, and was later employed as a secretary at Myers Print Shop in Vandergrift for 24 years, retiring in 2007. Linda was a member of Vandergrift United Methodist Church, and involved in church activities.
She was an avid cruiser, and also enjoyed reading. Linda also appeared in the majority of the Hometown Christmas Plays at the Casino Theatre in Vandergrift.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Ward A. McElfresh, who passed away on July 23, 2005; and her brother, William J. Stewart.
Linda is survived by her sons, Mark (fiancé Amy Park) McElfresh of North Apollo, David (Cathrine) McElfresh of East Vandergrift, John (Peggy) McElfresh of Cleveland, OH; and her grandchildren, Jenessa, Tret, and Piper.

Patty enjoyed traveling, especially to Cooks Forest. She liked shopping on QVC, and going out to eat with her girlfriends after church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel P. Bartoe, who passed away on October 7, 2005; and her sister & brother-in-law, Bonnie (Robert) Zinn.
Patty is survived by her step-daughter, Elizabeth (Jim) Waltenbaugh of Kiski Township; grandchildren, Angela Bertino of Kepple Hill; Trisha (Ron) Kemerer of Washington Township; great-grandchildren, Celeste Magee, Collin Moore, Fallon McCulley, Adeline Kemerer, Nick Kemerer, Tori Kemerer; brother, Trafford “Jeep” Couch of Leechburg; nephew, Brian (Stephanie Rau) Farster of Orchard Hills; and her grand-nephew, Colton.

Sarah enjoyed bowling, and participated in bowling leagues. She also enjoyed painting, reading, baking, cooking, and rearranging her house.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. McDonald, who passed away on February 14, 2016; son, Joseph C. McDonald, who passed away on July 13, 2005; sisters, Alice McCauley, Margaret Riffer, Sophie Boshinsky, Bertha Kaczor, Anna Mae Foy; and her brothers, George, John, Ralph, Bob, Charles, and Daniel Petrilla.
Sarah is survived by her son, Thomas P. (Melody) McDonald of Belton, Missouri; grandchildren, C.J. McDonald of Largo, FL, Kylie (Eric) Dyer of Raymore, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Carmelle McDonald of Largo, FL; sisters, Faye Klingensmith of Connecticut, Donna Stone of Apollo; brother, Franklin (Peggy) Petrilla of Saxonburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Mimi was a 1942 graduate of Apollo High School, and attended IUP and Penn State University before graduating from Grove City College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. She continued her education at the Eastman School of Music.
Mimi worked as a music teacher in the Syracuse, New York school system for many years, retiring in 1976. She often traveled the world during her summers from school, a passion she continued in retirement.
Mimi was a member of the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, where Mimi belonged to a knitting group. She was also a member of the Campfire Girls.
Mimi loved and composed her own music, and taught piano lessons in Apollo for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret C. “Peggy” Usselmann; and a niece, Carey Sue Altman.
Mimi is survived by her nieces, Karen E. Cypher of Avonmore, Elizabeth Sutherland of Athens, IL; her nephew, Thomas R. (Rich Payne) Usselmann of Chatham, IL; great nieces & nephews, C.J. (Janelle) Altman, Tara (Matthew) Berry, Marin (Justin) Beck, Perry, Peyton, and Parker Sutherland; and great great nieces and nephews, Lily Altman, Ella Sue Berry, and Jack Berry.

Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edward T. Petrosky; son, Edward K. (Rose Pelicone) Petrosky of Brackenridge; step-daughters, Kelly D. Petrosky of Pittsburgh, Jennifer R. Born June 25, 1938 in Acme, PA, she was a daughter of the late Smith Stout and Edna Mae (Sheetz) Stout.
Mayme was a graduate of Greensburg High School, and attended Nursing School through Westmoreland Hospital. She was a member of the Apollo Free Methodist Church.
Mayme enjoyed gardening, sewing, and loved playing the organ. Her Christian faith was an essential part of her life, and she spread the love of Christ until her last breath.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Roy Shultz, Jr., who passed away on July 9, 2003; daughter, Shelkya Pennington, who passed away on May 31, 2023; and her brother, Clair E. Stout.
Mayme is survived by her children, Wylie A. (Pam) Shultz of Washington Township, Glenn W. (Barb) Shultz of Springfield, TN, Yvonne L. (John) Sribniak of Gilpin Township, Wade C. (Katy) Shultz of Lower Burrell, Clay M. (Jill) Shultz of Export, Clinton D. (Vicki) Shultz of Orlinda, TN, Ben J. Born April 15, 1940 in Trafford, she was a daughter of the late Raymond & Mary (Shaffer) Watts.
Marge was a 1959 graduate of Elders Ridge High School. She was a homemaker, and also worked as an assistant group supervisor at Small World Daycare. She was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, and its Rosary Confraternity. Marge was a member of the North Apollo VFD and its Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a past officer for many years.
Marge enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing cards at the Apollo Senior Center. She most loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Richard Bernat, who passed away on February 6, 2022; grandson, Collin Feeney; brother, Aloysius Watts; sister-in-law, Sonja Bernat-Dodson; and her brothers-in-law, Thomas Bernat, Donald Bernat, and William Neyman.

Born on July 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William H. Miller & Erra (Munshower) Miller. Maxine graduated from Apollo High School in 1941.
Maxine was a committed wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at home raising and caring for her family through many self-sacrificing years. Maxine enjoyed various hobbies throughout her years, including home decorating, cooking & baking, sewing & quilting, and flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was widowed from her loving husband of 80 years in 2021, Kenny Sproull.
She will be forever remembered and loved by her three children, Janice of Delmont, Stanley (Shirley) of Apollo, Marcy of Monroeville; two granddaughters, Chelsea (Joshua) Madden, Amber Sproull; two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Jackson; and two nephews, Curtis and Robert.

Born April 8, 1941 in East Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Samuel Zuets & Charlotte (Fairman) Zuets.
Sam was a graduate of Vandergrift High School, and worked as a steel worker for Wean United/National Roll for many years, retiring in 2003. After retirement, he worked part time at George’s Plumbing with good friends Debbie and Bob DeLuca.
Sam enjoyed working in his garden and doing yardwork. He also loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and going to his hunting camp in Munderf.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Gabborini, Mary Ann Morganti, Julia Faiola, Constance Dixon; and his brother, Samuel Zuets, Jr.
Sam is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen J. (Petrosky) Zuets; sister, Katy Tedeski of East Vandergrift; numerous nieces; a nephew; and his kitties, Rainy and Poppy, who always made him laugh and smile.

Obituary Preview: Ronald D. “Ron” Shaffer, 55, of East Vandergrift, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in UPMC- Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born October 16, 1968 in Natrona Heights, he was a son of the late J. Howard Shaffer & Judith Rearick.
Ron was a 1986 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School and proudly served our country with the United States Army for 8 years.
He worked as an EMT all over the Kiski Valley, employed by Murrysville Medic One since 2008. Ron was part of Murrysville’s rehab, special operations, water rescue, dive team, where he was a Master Diver, and EMS strike teams. He also served as non-suppression/rescue instructor at the Community College of Allegheny County, Butler County Community College, and the PA State Fire Academy.
Ron was a member of Pleasant View Brethren Church, and the Vandergrift #1 VFD.
He enjoyed watching television, especially NCIS, Westerns, and his favorite show, M.A.S.H. Ron liked bingo, and playing scratch-off tickets. He most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson Maverick.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Shaffer; and his twin-brother, Donald Shaffer.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 30 1/2 years Lynette A. (Hill) Shaffer; daughters, Sabrina (Michael) Lerch of Vandegrift, Meghan Fombutu of Wichita, KS; son, Daniel (Amanda Wolfe) Shaffer of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Maverick & Calvin; brothers, James Shaffer of Dayton, OH, Artie “Rob” Shellhammer of Latrobe; sister, Debi (Jim) Carnahan of Kiski Township; stepmother, Peggy Shaffer of Spring Church; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June M. (Clugston) Moorhead, who passed away on September 3, 2020; daughter, Beth Ann Moorhead; grandson, Jacob Lorelli; granddaughter, Angela Moorhead; and his brother, Dale Moorhead.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Wanda was an avid baker, enjoyed antiquing, liked traveling, and loved taking care of her flowers. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Emerson R. Riggle who passed away on June 10, 2016; and her precious son, Wayne D. Riggle who passed away on March 9, 2013.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Barbara J. (Jim) Hasbargen of Valparaiso, IN. and Linda S. (Gary) Burkett of Parks Township; grandchildren, Arianne (Dave) Burnworth, Shane (Chrissy) Fishel, Ross Burkett, and Craig Hasbargen; great grandchildren, Shelby, Anthony, Jordan, Alivia, and Leah.

The Reverend Harry Blaine West - September 03, 1922 - March 20, 2024

Obituary Preview: The Reverend Harry Blaine West passed peacefully into his heavenly home Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the age of 101. Blaine (“Bud”) was born September 3, 1922, in Dayton, PA, son of the late Harry S. and Pearl (Gray) West.
Rev. West spent 76 years (1941-2017) in full-time pastoral and preaching ministry for the Wesleyan Church. While a student at Houghton College in Houghton, NY, he pastored two small Wesleyan churches. He then transferred to Marion College, in Marion, IN, soon joining the Marion College Quartet. There he met Mabel Elaine Stewart of Cadillac, MI. After both graduated from Marion, Blaine and Elaine were married in June, 1948.
Blaine and Elaine entered full-time ministry together in preaching and music as part of WAVL Christian radio broadcasting in Apollo, PA, after which they served as full-time evangelists for the Wesleyan Church in revivals and camps all over the eastern half of the U.S. and Canada. In 1955 they moved to pastor in Lexington, KY. Then over the next 38 years, they pastored four Wesleyan churches in Lexington, KY, in Marion, IN, and in Akron, OH. After retirement to their home in Apollo, Blaine continued on in pastoral roles of preaching, teaching, prayer, and visitation, while Elaine shared her skillful musical gifts in the church.
Blaine had hobbies he loved: large gardens, hunting for deer, carpentry on their home, and delicate woodworking. But the family God gave him was the most precious part of his life, other than his service to the Lord he deeply loved.
In addition to his parents, Blaine was preceded in death by Elaine, his wife of 65 years, as well as siblings Alice West Clifton, Andrew J. West, Roxie West Cadamore, and Paul West. He is survived by his brother, Silas West.
Blaine is also survived by his children, Charlotte West (Joseph) Coleson, Marilyn West Dawalt, Kimberly West Moore, Harry (Francie) West, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Juanita) Coleson, Sarah (Joshua) Coleson-Derck, Brandon (Sara) Dawalt, Jessica Dawalt (Kevin) Bass, Laura Dawalt (Jonathan) Councell, Bryce Britton, Brennen Britton; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie L. (Kough) Anderson; brothers, Lyle, Howard, Clarence, Seward, Bill, and Robert Anderson; and his sister, Dorothy Porter.
Ernest is survived by his daughter, Nancy J. (Edward) Myers of Rural Valley; son, James L. “Jim” (Pamela Smarsh) Anderson of Iselin; grandchildren, Laiken R. Roy was an active member of the Washington Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church and was an instrumental member.
He & late wife Pat were avid square dancers, and members of the Log Cabin Squares and Western Wheelers & Dealers. They also enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO, and other places with John’s Tours. Roy also enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia J. “Pat” (Raub) Shellhammer; son, John E. Shellhammer; brothers, John Shellhammer, Frank Shellhammer; and his sisters, Florence Tomlinson, Elsie Camp, Twila Young, Faye Saxion, and Phyllis Kiebler; and Buddy, who passed away as an infant.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tracey (Culp) Graham; paternal grandparents, William and Esther Graham; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Nora Lamanna.
Besides his mother Candy, Jake is survived by his brother, Eric Graham of Asheville, NC; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
