When Kenita was about 17, she kept a journal in which she wrote long entries about her days, the things she loved and all her random, deep thoughts. She wrote an entry in 1996 about what she thought happens when you die. “I guess I’ll have to be a good person while I’m living and see when I get to my destiny.” Kenita embodied these words; she lived her life with her loved ones to the fullest and always made them feel treasured. This is who she was. She was the light in our darkness, she brought us together. She was the planner of family get-togethers, the one that sent birthdays and holiday gifts. She made us all feel like we were her favorite. She made all her friends feel like they were her best friend. She was thoughtful, loving, and easy to talk to. She traveled, shopped, pampered herself and had fun doing so. If she loved you, she loved you with her whole heart, which made it easy to love her back. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts. Kenita accomplished everything she set out to do. She had so much more to do in this world, but now her time had come to an end. God has called her home to his loving arms, and she will be deeply missed.

And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that once we shared.
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we must all take, And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know,
Laugh at all the things we used to do.
Miss me, but let me go.
