Obituary Preview: Robert (Bob) Fred Germain III, age 42, of Vassar, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at home, with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer. Bob was born on November 8, 1981 to the late Robert Germain II and Tracy Halcro (Klopf). He graduated from Vassar High School in 2001 and was employed for many years at Kremin Inc. in Frankenmuth. He married Nicole (Zwerk) Hecht on March 8, 2019. Bob took pride in his career, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips up north to the casino, and spending time in his garage and with his family and friends. He was also an avid sports fan, especially for the Michigan Wolverines, Lions, and Tigers. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Mayville.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nicole; step-children, Kylie (fiance Devin) Zwerk and Bryce Hecht; father, (step) Edward D. Halcro; sisters, Amanda Germain and Tami (Robert) Trea; aunts, Kim (Doug) Donnelly and Jackie (Jeff) Wirth; grandma, Nancy Klopf; cousins, Brandon, Brittany, and Ryan; close friend, Gary Hiltz; mother-in-law, Sharon (Rick) Patton; sisters-in-law, Rachel Zwerk and Krystal Reinhardt; and many other cherished family members and friends. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Caroline; grandparents, Robert and Joyce Klopf and Robert I and Darlene Germain.

James Clifton Weinrich, Jr. - July 19, 1940 - April 28, 2024

Obituary Preview: James Clifton “Jim” Weinrich, age 83 passed away on April 28, 2024 peacefully at his home in Oakley, Michigan. Jim lived in Howell, Michigan, with Suzy, his wife for 32 years prior to moving back to Oakley in 2022.
Jim was born in Holtville, California on July 19, 1940 the son of James C & Ava Ruth (Thomas) Weinrich, Sr. Jim grew up in Downey, CA. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jim worked in sales in many industries and later moved into the financial industry with American Express, later Ameriprise Financial Advisors. Jim became a Compliance Officer, owning his own business, Detroit Compliance Group overseeing financial advisors in several states. He was a respected businessman who retired in 2018.
Jim married Suzy (Perry) Weinrich on August 23, 1974, and she survives him. He is also survived by daughter Pamela (Ben) Wesley as well as beloved granddaughters, Shaina (Scott) Schneider, Anne (Ben Mitchell) & Hannah (Corey) Stratton; also the lights of our life, great-grandchildren, Leigha, Ben & Landyn Schneider, Drew Stratton, Madison & Harper Mitchell; his sisters-in-law, Gail (Davis) Weinrich and Monica (Ken) Garske; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents; his sister & brother-in-law, Nancy (Bob) Sousa; and his brother, Robert (Bobby) Weinrich.
Jim was a man of many talents & interests. While living in California he was a drag racer and engine builder for many of the well known racers in southern California. After moving east, finally to Michigan, he continued his car interests, he and Suzy had a hobby photography business, sailed the Great Lakes and raced the boat in club racing as well as the Port Huron to Mackinaw Race. Jim traveled the world with his work & later with Suzy when they began to Scuba Dive. A favorite was Cozumel, MX where they formed friendships with people from all over the globe. Much time was spent at athletic events with Pam & time continued to be spent attending events with the grandchildren as well.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place in the coming months. Jim did not want a formal funeral, he was always up for a party so that is what we intend to provide. She was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3655. She retired with her husband and moved to Gladwin Michigan where she has lived out her life, previously residing in Dolton, IL where she was the Vice President of the First National Bank of Chicago. Gayla graduated from Michigan State University in 1959 with a BA degree in business and public service. She enjoyed nature, was a lover of all animals, and enjoyed watching sports and westerns. She was an active participant in many nonprofit organizations for animals and humanitarian aid.
She is survived by her two sons, Frederick (Rebecca) Hanchett and Robert (Jennifer) Hanchett; her grandchildren, Ashleigh (Cory) Udell, Caitlyn (Neal) Minard, Jared Hanchett, Ethan Hanchett, and Ian Pettengill; great-grandchildren, Robert John Minard, Dean Marshall Minard, and Alexander Lincoln Udell.
She is also survived by nephews, Russ Vanest and David Vanest; and nieces, Janet Corwin, Dana Stahl, and Denise Kracht. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald “Jake” Jacobson; her brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Donna Vanest Sr.; and her sister, Evelyn (Toby) Vanest.

Gerald Dewayne Gonder - June 17, 1964 - April 25, 2024

Obituary Preview: Gerald Dewayne Gonder, aka Jerry O'Donnell, age 59 of Midland, Michigan, peacefully went to be with Jesus surrounded by his loving family at Toni and Trish Hospice House in Auburn, Michigan on April 25, 2024 after an extended illness.
He was born to John and Berneice (Bancroft) Gonder on June 17, 1964 in Traverse City, Michigan. He graduated from Benzie Central High School in 1982. He was active in band, 4-H, where he raised 1and competed with show cattle, and Future Farmers of America, where he was honored to serve as local chapter secretary and then state president. He also enjoyed singing with Lake Ann United Methodist Church choir during his high school years. He studied communications at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan before beginning a career in radio, which spanned WBNZ in Benzonia, Michigan, WLDR in Traverse City, WGER in Saginaw, and lastly, retiring as Broadcaster Emeritus from Dow Diamond in Midland Michigan as the voice of the Great Lakes Loons.
In addition to calling Loons games, a professional passion was doing voiceovers for radio and television commercials and documentaries, as well as auctioneering for fundraisers.One of the work projects that he was most proud of was the documentary Ships of the Great Lakes, which he narrated and co-produced with his friend and colleague Tom Mays. He had a passion for the history and stories of the vessels that sailed the inland seas and was thrilled to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with viewers.
He was a spicy foodie who enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing his own jalapeno peppers, and sharing a large collection of hot sauces. He loved animals, especially his dogs, bird watching, and anything to do with cows. In his final weeks, he derived great pleasure from tongue tacos, particularly, but not limited to, beef.
He loved spending time with his wife, Jennifer Marshall-Gonder, and his favorite home leisure activities included playing Pokemon Go with his wife or watching documentaries on musical legends. He was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his sons. He was also fond of a certain famous reality show featuring particularly unaesthetic surgeries.
He will be sorely missed by his family, including loving wife, Jennifer; sons, Jordan, Jared, and Trevor; and step-son, Caleb Marshall-Stevens. Also surviving are his mother, Berneice Gonder; brother, John Alden (Sharon) Gonder; sisters, Yvonne (Jim) Schwind, and Laverna (Mike) Witkop; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Alvin Gonder in 2010. Gerald “Jerry” provided a great gift to others, by being a Gift of Life donor, and donating his corneas. The family would like to express their gratitude for their loving care and hospitality for Gerald “Jerry” and family during his stay.

Lloyd Charles Anderson - April 08, 1931 - April 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Lloyd Anderson passed away on April 23, 2024 at the age of 93. He was born April 8, 1931 in Kawkawlin Michigan to the late Ted and Edna (Mosher) Anderson. He was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed building projects, designing beautiful exterior landscaping, travel, and researching his ancestry. At Bay City Central he met his future wife, the late Rita Anderson, whom he married on October 14, 1950 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Throughout their marriage together they spent many years traveling to and from their Michigan and Florida homes. They enjoyed long walks on the Florida beaches and going to the mall on the weekends. Lloyds final years were spent at New Hope Bay in Bay City Michigan. The family will be eternally grateful for the kind, compassionate care provided by the staff at New Hope Bay.
He is survived by his four children, Thomas Anderson, Susan Anderson, Cheryl (Scott) Wilhelm, and Sandra (Mark) Gwizdala; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Obituary Preview: Our loving mother Debbie Jo Awad “Duffy”, went out with a bang April 23, 2024 surrounded by family, the night of the loudest two bangs of thunder and lightning, and no rain. I said “Here comes Jesus”! My mom passed right at that moment. Debbie was born June 20,1955 in Grayling, Michigan to the late John and Connie Duffy. She resided in Bay City, Michigan.
Debbie never left home without her make up on, her cup, her hanky in her pocket, and her purse that weighed 15 lbs. My mom had a huge personality in a little body. She loved her friends, rings, visiting Grayling, her plants, pets, thrifting, mini trinkets, memorabilia, and much more.
She is survived by her children, Christina (Kurt) Stevens and Greg Mulder; grandchildren, Anthony (Destiny), Nicholas (Kayla), Roberto (Rebecca), Cardenas, and Kiara Scott; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Phillip Faustman, Sherry Nichols, Cathy (John) Luce, and Rita (Rick) Millikin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lydia Atherton; longtime love, Heinz Meisel; sister-in-law, Suzie Faustman; and brother-in-law, Frankie Nichols.

Obituary Preview: Susan Kathleen Beach (Kegley), age 69, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away on April 23, 2024 at Brian’s House Hospice in Essexville, Michigan. She was born January 11, 1955 in Bay City, Michigan, daughter of Daniel W. and Virginia F. Kegley, and the youngest of her three brothers.
Sue was a graduate of T. L. Handy High School, and later attended Northeastern School of Commerce, both in Bay City. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Sue enjoyed Diamond Art painting and loved to play Yahtzee, but especially enjoyed visiting with her close friends.
She is survived by her son, Nathaniel Kegley, and daughter, Samantha Jo Beach; grandchildren, Alijo, Hunter, Ryder, Adyson, Shaylyn, Paige, Kane, Parker, and Dyllin; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Ember and Avery ; as well as her beloved cat, Tanner. Sue was devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren. She will always be loved and will be sadly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Virginia Kegley; as well as her brothers, Daniel Kegley, Michael Kegley, and Jeffrey Kegley. A celebration of her life is being planned for August, 2024, and her ashes will be distributed per her wishes.

Obituary Preview: Laura Ann Kelbey Frendscho, of St. Charles, age 98, passed away April 22, 2024. Her life was a legacy of unwavering dedication to her family. Laura was born October 3, 1925 in Saginaw, MI. the youngest daughter of Frank and Corletta (Lester) Kelbey. She married Eugene Frendscho on August 19, 1950.
Laura graduated from Saginaw HS then worked at Lufkin Rule. In her younger years, Laura enjoyed going out dancing, where she met her future husband at the Golden Glow. She held onto that joy throughout her life and would break into tap moves well into her eighties. They settled on a farm in St. Charles, raised a family, and built a comfortable life together. Laura was a gifted gardener and avid reader. Following retirement, Laura and Gene became snowbirds, spending winters in FL and traveling the roads of the US and Canada, enjoying nature along the way. Laura was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Laura shared her love through her actions; she was generous, always ready to offer practical wisdom, and provided unfailing support. Laura was preceded in death by Gene Frendscho, her husband of 60 years. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her children Daniel (Val) Frendscho, Lawrence (Darlene) Frendscho, Thomas (Mary) Haak-Frendscho, and Kathleen (Bob Raade) Delao; grandchildren Cara Fox, Scott (Andrea) Frendscho, E. Maude (Sean Collins) Haak-Frendscho, Michele Frendscho, Shelby (Burton Desser) Frendscho, and Kelly (Mario) Perez; and great-grandchildren Kaleb, Grayson, Maya, Brantley, Mo, and Maddox. Gary Wade Brocht - March 02, 1950 - April 21, 2024

Obituary Preview: Gary Wade Brocht, born on March 2, 1950, at home in Winterfield Township to Frank and Ines Brocht (Keehn), passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, at the age of 74, surrounded by his family.
Gary was the eldest son and child of Frank and Ines. His day always began at 5 a.m., watching the sunrise and wildlife while savoring his first cup of coffee. He was a pillar of the community, known for his warm hospitality and generosity. He had a passion for bringing people together over a cup of coffee, hosting gatherings for friends and neighbors.
A hardworking entrepreneur, Gary’s work history started driving truck, at Anderson windows in Florida. After he ran a dairy farm for many years in MI. From 1988-1995 he owned a fishing store (Evart Sports) in Evart, MI. He worked for Four Winns until he attended hardwood lumber grader school and graded lumber at Cadillac Forest Products. Gary had a strong work ethic and versatility. He was a “jack of all trades”. Years later he returned to the trucking industry until his retirement.
In his free time, Gary enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him, and he found solace in nature's beauty.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ines Brocht, his wife, Denise Jo Brocht (Keehn), and his youngest son, Wade Brocht. His life lives on in his son Andy granddaughters Katelyn, Allison, and Lauren and his four great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his family and community. Gary's memory will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held this Saturday at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 220 South Mill Street, Marion, MI 49665, on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1pm. George Thomas Wells - February 17, 1950 - April 18, 2024

Obituary Preview: On Thursday April 18, 2024, G. Thomas Wells “Tom” passed away at the age of 74, with his wife of 54 years at his side.
Tom was born to Jerry and Barbara Wells in 1950 in Evansville, Indiana and was the oldest of four siblings: Dan, Jan, and Susan.
After the Wells family moved to Rockledge, Florida, Tom met his future wife Nancy Scheerhorn in middle school. Tom played saxophone in the school band, was on the wrestling team, and was active with the Boy Scouts.
Both Tom and Nancy attended the University of Florida, marrying in their junior year before Tom graduated with a BS in chemistry and accepted a position at Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan in 1972.
They established roots in Midland with the birth of their two sons, Jerrett and Andrew.
After 32 years at Dow, Tom retired to start another career at the Midland Academy of Advanced Studies where he taught chemistry for eight years. He created a food science course with Nancy’s help, illustrating the practical chemical reactions in our daily lives.
Tom was very active within the United Church of Christ of Midland. He held leadership and membership positions in administrative committees and helped shape the church into an open and affirming congregation.
Tom was a man of science, faith, service, and art that supported and loved those around him to the best of his ability for his entire life. He will be greatly missed.
Tom was preceded in death by his father Jerry, mother Barbara, and sister Susan, and survived by his brother Dan, sister Jan, wife Nancy, sons Jerrett and Andrew, and granddaughter Eliza.

Joan was a graduate of Saginaw High School, class of 1952 after which she proudly served in United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon returning home she went to work for Michigan Bell Telephone, retiring after 25 years. She was a member of Community of Christ Church. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed having them visit.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Kobel and Kristi Kobel; three grandchildren, Jesse (Shaunne) Chacon, Angela Young and Devon Kobel; one sister, Patricia Bennett; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two fur babies, Puddles and Pete. She was predeceased by one daughter, Kathy J (Kobel) Chacon; one grandson, Kyle T. Kobel; former husband, Thomas H. Kobel; three bothers, Robert Riley, Kenneth Riley, and Charles Riley; two sisters, Beverly Riley and Mildred Riley, brother-in-law, Earl Bennett; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Riley and Jacqueline Riley; and one niece, Joy Bennett.

Obituary Preview: Joann Shreve “Stella”, aged 76, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 at her home in Vassar. She fought cancer twice, but the second time was too much for her.
She was born on June 14, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to Walter Zwerican & Annabelle (Girard) Zwerican Rohrer. She married Tom Shreve on September 11, 1971, and they enjoyed 52 1/2 years together. They raised her 3 children together in Vassar. She enjoyed the outdoors, life, and her family. She worked as an upholsterer, for many years. She always enjoyed a party, a beer, and she was known as the "Keno Queen".
She is survived by her husband, Tom Shreve; an older brother, John (Vicki) Zwerican; a younger sister, Diane (Glenn) Jones; a sister-in-law, Elaine Zwerican; a step-sister, Jill Rohrer; a step-brother, Kevin (Kim) Rohrer; her 3 children, Kathy (David) Withers, Jerry Schultz, and Tina (Scot) Faulk; her 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Nichole) David, David (Kara) Withers, Shaunee Withers, Trevor (Hailey) Schultz, and Jonathan Bauer; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Walter; her mother, Annabelle; and her 2 brothers, Jerry & Jim Zwerican.
She will be missed by many.

Sarah Ann Todd - March 26, 1933 - April 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Sarah Ann Todd, age 91, went home to be with her Savior on April 14, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1933 in Charleston, Tennessee to Hubert and Bertha Harris. Sarah and her family moved to Detroit where she met and married Franklin D. Todd on April 25, 1953, he predeceased her in 1985. They moved to Bay City in 1958 where they raised their five children.
Sarah and Frank’s desire in life was to worship and honor the Lord, teaching and living out the ways of God for their children and others. Sarah was her church’s pianist for many years as she served the Lord alongside her husband. Her favorite pastime outside of her church life was spending time with family and friends. She was currently a member of Riverwalk Community Church. Sarah worked in grocery and retail sales for years eventually retiring from Meijer.
Surviving are: son, Steve Todd, daughters, Denise (Richard) Taglauer and Julie (Marty) Getyina; daughters-in-law, Rose Todd and Cheryl Todd; grandchildren: Michael (Leah) Todd, Stephanie (Joe) Maier, Nicole (David) LeVasseur, Steven Todd, Danielle Bach, Rachel (Jason Benkert) Todd, Christopher Compau, Patrick (Brooke) Todd, Natalie (Corey) Oliver, Kerri Todd, Jennifer Todd, Bethany (Nic) Mayer, Dorrie Neveau, Clair (Chris) Washburn, James (Charly) Taglauer; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with another due in September; a sister-in-law, Anita Harris; brother-in-law Roy Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Franklin, Jr. and Dennis; her parents; brother Joseph Harris; sister Huberta Wall; as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, football, gambling, Big Macs, blueberry picking blueberries, mechanic work, carpentry, and ramming the roads. He was a man of many talents. Most of all, he loved his grand babies, where he earned the title "Papa", he also loved his children very much.
He is survived by his children, Crystal (Sean) Dungey, Billie (Ric) Anderson, Shannon (Mike) Braley, Tiffany Allen, Ronald (Renee) Allen II, and Eric (Cora) Allen; bonus children, Melissa Young, Jeremy Young, Amanda Hill, and Jr. Hill; 18 grandchildren; the love of his life, Linda Hill; many nieces and nephews; a special niece, Priscilla Hoon; his siblings, George Allen, Peggy Allen, Laura McCluskey, and Judith (Ron) Allen-Talaski. He was predeceased by his siblings, Sheryl Webb, Terrie Hoon, Margaret Tyson, and Tom Allen.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held from 1 PM – 4 PM, April 21, 2024, at the Hemlock V.F.W, 17595 Gratiot Rd., Hemlock, MI 48626. Obituary Preview: On Friday April 12, 2024 Geraldine Mae Smith (Gerry) passed away with her family at side at the age of 78. Gerry was born on September 18, 1945 in Midland, MI to Gerald and Mary (Williams) Fauble. She graduated from Midland high school in 1963. She worked in medical billing at Midland Hospital followed by becoming the manager of x-ray building office in Saginaw for over a decade. She retired from her own business as a medical transcriptionist.
While growing up she had a passion for horses and was a member of Chippewa Trail Riders 4-H group. She competed and became a proficient barrel racer. She had a great love for animals of all kinds. As a youth rescued animals wild and tame. This continued into her adult life. She was never without a pet. She worked briefly with Michigan Standard Poodle Rescue. She also had a love for her family and hosted many gatherings at her home.
She was preceded in death by her father Gerald, her mother Mary, brother Lloyd Fauble, sister Gail Boehm and grandson Justin Parsons.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years Robert Smith, sons Terry (Margaret) Parsons of Freeland, Mark (Cathleen) Parsons of Freeland , Todd (Anne) Parsons of Lebanon, Maine, Eric (Tiffany) Smith of Washington state and daughter Jamie Jorgensen of Saginaw, sisters Ellen Richardson of Bay City and Ronda (Melvin) Jones of Freeland, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and another on the way.
Following Gerry’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Keith Allan Current - April 06, 1956 - April 12, 2024

Obituary Preview: Keith Allan Current, age 68, passed away April 12, 2024 at the Pleasant View Shiawassee Medical Care facility nursing home in Owosso. Keith had been fighting a severe infection and was hospitalized since the end of January. He was placed in the facility just a few days before his death where he was in good spirits about his recovery but his heart just couldn’t continue the fight.
He was born on April 6, 1956. Keith and his twin brother Kenny were adopted into a loving home shortly after birth to Rose and Joseph Current. He also has several other siblings that were placed for adoption. Keith was born and raised in Owosso, he worked as a Machine Operator for Federal Mogel in St. Johns and a semi-truck driver for Werner Trucking. Keith enjoyed working with his hands. He loved to weld and came up with several clever ways to make things work for him. He liked working on anything with an engine. He enjoyed hunting and camping and enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S. He also loved to spend time at his trailer in Arizona where he participated in the parades and pot lucks held in the park. Keith had a victory motorcycle that he rode and he attended the motorcycle rallies, winning trophies for his bike.
Keith was co-director of St. Johns United Church of Christ Food Pantry for 4 years, he was a member of the choir at St. Johns, and then joined First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ and sang with the choir. Keith was a generous man, he helped those in need as much as he could.
Keith leaves behind his loving wife, Carol (Draves) of whom he married in 2004; 3 sons, Joseph, Brian and Andrew from a previous marriage; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his close friend Nick, whom Keith thought of as a son; and several close friends of Bill W.; and his pup, Molly.
Per his wishes, he has been cremated with burial planned for a later date. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm, Saturday May 11, 2024, at First Congregational Church UCC, 327 N. Obituary Preview: James Phillip Schall Sr. “Jimmy”, “Jim”, resided in Michigan his whole life, and preferred to be up in Mikado Michigan. He bought his first home up north, as his dream had been to live up there…but his final days were spent down state. He passed away on April 10, 2024 at the Regency in Grand Blanc, surrounded by his daughters. He was born on July 13, 1938 in Detroit Michigan to the late Anthony and Mary Schall.
Jim enjoyed working with wood made many things. Later in life he took up working with plastic canvas and enjoyed it. He was never afraid to try and make anything with that plastic. He enjoyed working with his hands, and if you really wanted something, he would figure it out using either wood or plastic.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debra (Paul) Altamira, Dianna (Rick) Bradley, and Peggy DeLisle; daughter-in-law, Sandra Schall; grandchildren, Antonia Altamira, Alejandro Rosario, Angelic Boom, Brent (Paige) Bradley, Logan (Amber) Bradley, Garrett Bradley, Nicole (Steve) Howard, Nate (Christy) Putman, Jess (Kayla) Putman, Jeremy Putman, Dezerae Schall, and Dakota Schall; step-grandchildren, KaSandra Choate, Angelica Choate, and Michael Martin; fifteen great-grandchildren, plus one on the way that he was excited to meet in June; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary; his son, James Schall Jr.; all of his siblings; many nieces and nephews; along with great- nieces and nephews.

Frances Jean Eshelman - October 20, 1937 - April 08, 2024

Obituary Preview: Frances J. Eshelman, “Fran” age 86 of Byron, MI passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Memorial Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving children.
Frances was born on October 20, 1937, in Ferndale, Michigan the daughter of the late George R. and Anna (Vearn) Bundshuh. Frances was a 1955 graduate of Royal Oak High school. After Graduation, she worked as a secretary for the John Hancock insurance agency. In 1957 Frances met the love of her life, the late Ronald G. Eshelman. They were married on January 4, 1958, and started their life together in Clawson, Michigan. They had three children together and eventually relocated to Byron, Michigan in 1972.
Frances spent the majority of her life raising her children and taking care of the family home. She served as the Antrim Township Treasurer for many years, was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an excellent seamstress. She made prom dresses for her daughter and granddaughter, prom tuxes for her sons and even made her daughter’s wedding dress. In her free time, Frances enjoyed playing pinochle, swimming, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
After retirement, Ron and Fran did some traveling and enjoyed a quiet life in the country until Ronald’s death five years ago, also on April 8, 2019.
Frances was one of the most loving, caring, and thoughtful people and was adored by all who knew her. She treated everyone with kindness and compassion. She was always willing to share her wisdom and give advice whenever it was asked of her. You could always find her doing fun things with her grandchildren. They would make crafts, play games, and swim often in her pool, creating many fond memories that they will cherish, always.
Frances is survived by her son Ed (Sue) Eshelman of Byron, Steve (Nancy) Eshelman of Adrian, and Carrie Wilcox-Brewer (Todd) of Byron. Her grandchildren, Dustin (Kara) Wilcox, Kendall Wilcox, Lindsey Eshelman, Jordan (Hannah) Eshelman, Weston (Carolyn) Eshelman, Jenna (Austin) Carr, and Kyle and Ryan Brewer. Her great grandchildren, Bradley, Emric, Quinn, Maren, Hayden, Gavin, Layla (due in June), Natalie, and Isabella. Her sister Carol Rundquist, and many nieces and nephews.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her parents George and Anna Bundshuh, her brother Dickie Bundshuh, her sister Joanie Paulson and her son in law, Matthew “Buddy” Wilcox.
Frances chose not to have a formal service. Instead, she requested that the family have a private celebration of her life which will be held at a later time. Memorial donations directed to Burns Twp. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Laurie. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted, whom she married on September 12, 1959; a son, David; and her dearest uncle, Eugene Dominowski.
