Departed: 03/28/2023 (Leamington)
Obituary Preview: It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Rene Debergh announce his passing on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. He died of heart failure, both literally and figuratively, but was looking forward to finally being reunited with his wife Gisele, who passed away in July (2022), and whom he missed terribly. Rene was supposed to have gone into assisted living on Monday, but said, "There's no way I'm going there!", then passed away peacefully in Hospice instead. He kept his wit, sarcasm and sense of humour throughout his stay at Erie Shores Health Care and Erie Shores Hospice, whom the family would like to sincerely thank for their wonderful care. That was Dad, running the show until the very end! Loving father of Chris (Nancy), Lynn (Brian), Elizabeth (Steve), and David (Cathy); proud grandfather of Brendan, Cameron, Nathan, Patrick, Brian, Ryan, Kayleigh, and Steven. He leaves behind his in-laws Don and Solange Dewaele, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who thought the world of him. He was predeceased by his parents Jerome and Elsie Debergh and his brother Robert (Carol). Rene worked hard his whole life, conscientious and particular, enjoying working with his hands on the farm and being in control of his own destiny. Although he grew beautiful things with those hands, he was also able to create even more beautiful music with those same hands on his accordion. He was a loving father and a wonderfully playful grandfather and he will be missed a great deal by all who knew him. "RIP mom and dad xo."
