An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including biographical information, funeral or memorial service details, and surviving family members. It serves as a way to share the news of a loved one's passing with friends, family, and community.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries play a significant role in honoring the life of the deceased, providing closure for those who are grieving, and serving as a historical record of the person's life. They also help to inform others of the passing and provide details on how to pay their respects.
