Elizabeth "Bette" Nytes Ribarchek - August 12, 1926 - November 30, 2023

Departed: 11/30/2023 (Wrightstown)
Obituary Preview: Elizabeth (Bette) Verona Stephan Nytes Ribarchek passed away peacefully on Thursday November 30, 2023, in Indianapolis, IN at the age of 97. Bette was born August 12, 1926 in Aesketon, WI to Arthur and Vernie Stephan, and raised in Wrightstown, WI where she helped in the family business, Stephan’s Tavern. The middle of five sisters, she graduated from Wrightstown High School where she was a Drum Major and loved to dance at Nightingale. She married Donald David Nytes of Kaukauna, WI on August 28th of 1948. Donald died in a work accident while she was pregnant with their first child and Bette moved back to Wrightstown to be with family. On November 26th of 1953, Bette married Donald Paul Ribarchek, and they moved to Kaukauna, WI where their son Daniel Jude Ribarchek was born in 1957.
In 1958 Bette and Don moved to Green Bay where they resided until Don’s death in 2011 and were members of St. Joseph Church. Over those many years Bette taught the neighborhood children to make Christmas cookies and always enjoyed packing the family off to go wandering through the woods back in Wrightstown. Playing cards was a regular entertainment with family and friends as well as the ritual of Friday night fish fries at the American Legion in Wrightstown or other favorite spots, later lamenting that in Indiana you just could not get good fried perch! In 1976, Bette began her service as one of the founding members of the volunteer group at the Neville Public Museum and at the Historic Hazelwood House. She treasured the honor she received as Volunteer of the Year from the Museum. Bette and Don loved to visit Door County and, in their retirement, spent several years managing small resorts up in Gills Rock and Ellison Bay. They both enjoyed those years because of the beauty of Door County and the many people they welcomed and befriended.
Bette came to Indianapolis in late 2011 for a Packer game then stayed for the Super Bowl, and made the move permanent that following summer. However, the shrine she kept to the Packers reminded all visitors to the house that Green Bay was home. Here in Indianapolis she taught dozens of people to play “3-13”, her favorite card game, as well as Spinner. Over the ensuing 11 years she became Gramma to dozens of students from all over the world who lived with the family here, and eventually the children of some of those same students. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her sisters Myrtle Ryan, Margaret Huebner, and Mary Phyllis Ambrosius, son in law Michael O’Brien, and Sams’s mother Melissa Standard
Bette is survived by her daughter Jackie Nytes of Indianapolis, her son Dan Ribarchek of Little Suamico, WI; grandsons Patrick O’Brien of Indianapolis and Sam Ribarchek of Howard, WI as well as her sister Judy Kuffel of Tucson, Arizona; her sisters in-law Cleo Sweichkowski, Alice Nytes and Carol Ribarchek along with many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her pal Mary O’Brien for the many laughs they shared, and to Colleen, Quinetta and Laurie for all the love they showered her with over the years.
Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Catholic Church – St. Paul site, Wrightstown, on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 10:00am to 10:45am. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am at the church with Rev. Brian Wideman officiating. Interment in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Charles (Chuck) Maass - December 28, 1928 - January 23, 2022

Departed: 01/23/2022 (Wrightstown)
Obituary Preview: Charles “Chuck” Maass, 93, was called to his eternal home Sunday evening January 23, 2022. Chuck was born December 28, 1928, in Green Bay. He was the only child born to Carl and Martha (Wierschke) Maass.
Dad grew up on the Maass family homestead located just north of Wrightstown along highway “ZZ” on the Fox River. Dad had many stories to tell about his childhood years living on the family farm near the river. Memories such as: ice skating on the river, swimming across the river, a two mile hike to Ravine School “walking uphill both ways”. Together with his parents, he milked about 30 dairy cattle and raised turkeys to sell to people who came from all over the area to purchase their Thanksgiving bird for dinner.
Dad said he went to high school, but only entered the front door and walked out the back door. Dad was a self-taught man and a “Jack of all trades”! He mastered many of those trades. He could fix or repair almost anything and through the years he held many, many part time jobs along with running the family dairy farm and a hog farm.
On January 10th, 1953, Chuck married Arlene Fischer from Lannon, Wisconsin. Together they bought a farm on Wrightstown Road in the town of Rockland about a mile up the road from the original Maass homestead. Dad and Mom did a wonderful job raising a family of seven children teaching us the meaning of hard work, family commitment, Christian faith and values.
Dad and Mom sold both farms in 1990 and moved to Wrightstown. During these retirement years they enjoyed the good life of travel, especially to Florida to visit their son Jerry and his family. Dad took up golf and actually got a hole-in-one at a golf course in Florida. It was an unbelievably proud moment for him.
Together Mom and Dad enjoyed 57 years of marriage until her passing in 2010. Dad remained in fairly good health until recently. He enjoyed going for drives, spending time visiting family and friends, going to church and out to eat. Dad will be remembered for his “corny” jokes and sense of humor, and easy-going nature. He made himself available to those who needed help in fixing stuff as well as being a wonderful caregiver to our Mom and our brother Ken meeting their physical needs. Many people have said to us kids “your Dad was one of the good guys!” He was a friend to all.
Dad will forever be and dearly missed by his children and heirs. Jerry (Anne) Maass and their children Jenna (Rob), Lauren (Zak), and Chandler; Lou Beard and her children Eric and Brandon (Amanda) Beard; Bob Maass and his daughter Amber (Aaron) Schroeder; Mary (Dick) Fritsch and their children Nathan (Jen), Nicki (Josh) Myers and Noah (Kari) Fritsch; Char (Ken) Lemke and their children Chris (Melinda) Ryan (Amy) and Jamie (Brad) Hein; and finally Ed Maass. Chuck is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren which he loved dearly.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arlene, his youngest son Ken, and a daughter in law Betty Maass.
Visitation will be held Saturday January 29, 2022, from 9am until 10:45am at St. John's Lutheran Church (1537 Day St. Greenleaf - notice the new address change) time of service will be at 11am with Pastor Mike Gehl officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Wrightstown following the service.
Online condolences will be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Church or Unity Hospice.

It may also include hobbies, interests, accomplishments, and other personal details that help to tell their story.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform it will be published on. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words.

Can I include photos in an obituary?
