He was born on April 20, 1941, in Lynco, West Virginia, the son of Fred and Virginia Lusher Hambrick. Ashby grew up in Oceana, West Virginia. He married Florence Heniff on July 30, 1966, in Bridgeview, IL.

Ashby & Florence had four children: Dallas, James, Christian, and beloved daughter, Jennifer. He is survived by Florence Hambrick of Momence, IL. Two sons; Dallas L. Hambrick of Galesburg, IL and James C. Hambrick of Oak Lawn, IL. Also surviving are his three sisters and brothers-in-law; Betty (Calvin) Tilly of OH, Joyce (David) Bowden of MD, and Judy (Pete) Hatcher of WV. His brother; Gary (Jennifer) Hamrick of WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter; Jennifer L. Hambrick and son; Christian Hambrick. Also preceded him in death are his brother; Carl Hamrick and sisters-in-law; Jennifer Hamrick and Joyce Hamrick.

He worked for 35 years at the 3M Company, located in Bridgeview, IL. Recently, he worked at Transformco in Manteno, IL. He served in the United States Army from 1959-1962 and continued his military service in the Illinois National Guard.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Momence, IL.  Ashby loved to work, and could be found taking care of his lawn and garden when at home. He also enjoyed watching West Virginia sports.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

His many aunts and uncles; Darlene Lynch DeMario of Gurnee, IL, Jackie Lynch Rudolf of Bourbonnais, IL, Melissa (Lynch) Despain and Tom Despain of Bourbonnais, IL, Jeff Wiggs of Wheatfield, IN. He is survived by many cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his Grandpaw and Granny; Earl and Carol Lynch, uncle; Bruno Rudolf, uncle Michael Wiggs, and cousin; Jason Rudolf.

David enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends, especially his nephew, Vaiden Lynch.

He worked as a building maintenance technician. Joshua served in the United States Navy from 2006-2008.

Josh loved sports, especially baseball. He was a loving son with a big heart. He was kind to everyone and always had a great smile to share with the world. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Also surviving is her daughter; Melissa Carroll of Kankakee, IL, twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Raymond Blanton and Kenneth Blanton, and sister; Lois Blanton.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL. Carolyn loved reading and studying the scripture. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs play.

He was born on December 21, 1943, in Elgin, IL, the son of Robert M. and Adeline M. (Sodman) Getzelman. He married Jill D. Blazier on November 29, 1980, in Elgin, IL. She survives.

He is survived by his wife, Jill D. Getzelman of Momence, IL, his five children; Jacob (Stephanie) Getzelman of Britt, IA, Amelia Thompson (Kyle Kulseth) of Bozeman, MT, Alicia (Miguel) Gonzalez of Momence, IL, Chelsea Bills and Melanie (Tim) Roberts. Also, a special daughter, Renata Marino of Brazil. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Mikaela Getzelman, Cedric Thompson, Emery Gonzalez, Elias Gonzalez, Emmett Gonzalez, Evelina Gonzalez, Eileen Gonzalez, Sarah Roberts, and Emily Roberts. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother; John M. Getzelman.

He worked as a railroad switch tender operator for the Burlington Railroad and retired from the Indiana Harbor Belt after 45 years. Clayton served in the United States Army as a diesel mechanic from 1966-1969 with a tour in Vietnam. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence, IL where he has served as an ordained deacon for many years.

Clayton was an avid railfan and loved model railroading. He enjoyed gardening and putting puzzles together. You could find him and his wife Jill “deer hunting,” as they often drove around the countryside in hopes of spotting deer.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family, as funds are intended to setup a future memorial fund in Clayton’s honor.

Also, he is survived by six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers; Warren, Charlie, Clyde, Earl, Kenny, Jerry and Norman. Thomas is also preceded in death by his two sisters; Jane and Lottie.

Thomas served in both the United States Marines and Navy.  He enjoyed fishing and working out in the yard. When he could, he liked to be outside feeding his squirrels and while inside he loved watching Western Shows with John Wayne.

Evan Taylor Wood, born in Kankakee, IL., on November 10, 2002 died tragically on March 03, 2024. Evan is survived by his “Madda” and “Fadda” Amber and Andy Wood, "Sister Dearest” Dana, "Dingus” brother Aidan and brother Kingston whom Evan proudly named all on his own. Evan’s furbaby Roland who misses his daddy terribly and although he was young to some, Evan was blessed to have found the love of his life and forever person in the beautiful Kaitlyn Nagler. Evan will also be missed beyond words by other family and many close friends he considered family.

Evan loved riding his motorcycle and playing in the outdoors testing the fates constantly with his poison ivy allergy. Evan was also an exceptionally gifted musician with a love for any song with a note and any instrument that could play. He was self-taught on the guitar but also played the piano, violin, and his much-loved trumpet. “The Remarkable Farkle McBride” was a book given to Evan as a young boy by someone who recognized the greatness within his mind, the perfect pitch he was lucky to have and the ability to play by ear.

Evan was a welder by trade, but used his passion for welding to make many beautiful gifts for those he loved and they will be treasured forever.

If you were lucky to have met or known Evan, you know how worse off the world is for having lost such an amazing, loving, sarcastic, giving, charismatic, loyal young man who gave everything to those he loved. Evan will be met by his Grandpa Shea and Grandpa Harold, Uncle Timmy, Cousin Jared, and his beloved Casper and Robbie.

Marjorie has five grandchildren; Ryan and Julie Fitzpatrick, Erin and Jeremi Marsh, Eric Simpson, Megan Simpson and Madison Simpson. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Paul and Wayne, and two sisters; Doris and Virginia. Also preceding her in death is her daughter; Shelley Fitzpatrick.

She worked as a secretary for HR Block for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Momence, IL. Marjorie enjoyed taking care of her flowers and camping. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Also surviving are her maternal grandparents; JoAnn LeBeau of Momence, IL, and Michael Mysliwiec of Gary, IN, as well as paternal grandparents; Wilson Crite of Pembroke, IL, and Lynn and James Dixon of Kankakee, IL.

She was a Freshman at the Momence High School, where she played volleyball, basketball and was a cheerleader. Amari was a member of the Total Deliverance Church in Aroma Park, IL. She loved drawing and music, and played the guitar and piano. Amari liked doing hair.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Bill Evans of Elk City. OK, and Karen and Mark Williams of St. Anne, IL, and one son and daughter-in-law; Kevin and Pamela Barthel of Globe, AZ. Lyle had eleven grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law; Kenneth and Thelma Barthel of Elgin, IL, Charles Barthel of MN, and Chris (Wieman) Barthel from Freeport IL. Three sisters and brothers-in-law; Ruth Flynn of Phoenix, AZ, Carol and James Keller of Sedona, AZ, Evelyn and Roger Petitgoue of Sterling, IL. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Calvin Barthel, Donald Barthel, Harold Barthel and Paul Barthel, his sister; Alice Blasing, and his son; David Barthel.

After the death of their son, Lyle and Carol came to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior and gave their lives to serve Him. In addition to being a loving husband and father, Lyle farmed for 17 years in Lanark and German Valley, IL, followed by faithful service as a missionary at the Christian Servicemen’s Center in Norfolk, VA. He also served as assistant director of the Union Gospel Mission in Norfolk, VA. and as house-parents with his wife Carol at Hope Haven Children’s Home in Virginia Beach, VA.

He attended the Bible Witness Camp. He enjoyed farming, being a handyman, studying and teaching the Bible.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Anthony Lagacy, George Lagacy, James Lagacy, and Don Lagacy, two sisters; Grace Frye and Loretta Lagacy.

He enjoyed working on cars and driving them, playing golf, as well as watching basketball and football. David played soccer, basketball and went swimming with his children often. His love was extended to animals and his many pets. David was fun-loving and was known to be goofy at times making people laugh. He loved spending time with his grandchildren most of all.

She was an educator and taught at Kankakee Community College. She was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Momence, IL, member of the Illinois and Kankakee County Retired Teachers Association, and the Jayette’s. Nadine enjoyed sewing and crafting, and loved gardening and taking care of her flowers.

She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Her special friend and caregiver, Terry Waddell. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother; Tony Kuhar and daughter-in-law, Nancy Lewke.

She paid her way through beauty school and worked at a salon in Grant Park. Enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, sewing and loved spending time with family.

He was of Christian Faith. Michael loved training dogs, but really enjoyed teaching other people how to train their dogs. In between working with dogs, he took breaks visiting Las Vegas.

Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Roger Purnell and Clifford Purnell and one grandson, Clifford Purnell.

He was a truck driver for 46 years with Cozzi, Kankakee Scrap, Hunt Trucking, and River Valley Recycling. Robert served as a camp ground host for six years for Kankakee Park District.

She is survived by her two children; Christopher (Katie) DeMeulenaere of Angier, NC, and Justin (Patricia) DeMeulenaere of Momence, IL. Three brothers and Sisters-in-law; Frank (Marie) Dhom of Momence, IL, William (Sandy) Dhom of Momence, IL, and Paul (Carla) Dhom of Winchester, VA. Two sisters and brothers-in-law; Janet (Mike) Toma of Momence, IL, and Catherine (James) Carpenter of Momence, IL. Four grandchildren; Aaliyah DeMeulenaere, Collin DeMeulenaere, Adeline DeMeulenaere and Autumn DeMeulenaere. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother; Mike Dhom, and her sister; Carol Karlock.

She was a licensed practical nurse in Momence, IL and retired to North Carolina. She loved her career as a nurse and taking care of the elderly. She enjoyed her retirement in Angier, NC by going to the beach, watching hummingbirds, and spending most of her days crafting. Her most beloved hobby was spending time with her grandchildren.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Momence, IL.

He is survived by his wife; Lesa Loitz of Grant Park, IL. His daughter, Pamela (Edgar) Cruz of Siloam Springs, AK. His step-son; Josef and Kate Wehlauch  of Grant Park, IL, two step-daughters; Sheila (Rory) Hertzberg of Limestone, IL, and Krista (Jason) Martin of Grant Park, IL. Two grandchildren; Asher and Vivienne Cruz. Also surviving are six step-grandchildren; Annaliese Martin, Evelyn Martin, Aubrey Wehlauch, Emma Wehlauch, Sophia Wehlauch, and Kennedi Hertzberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; John Loitz and William Loitz.

James was a local farmer. He enjoyed fishing and bird watching. You could find him often driving his truck “making rounds” and enjoyed working with his hands.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held per the request of James.

His sister; Peggy Christiansen of Denham Springs, LA. Also surviving is one grandson, Kaden McDonald, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister; Paula Yott.

He worked and retired as an electrician from Ford Motor Co. in Chicago Heights, IL. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Forrestal as an electrician mate from 1964-1968.

He was a member of UAW – Local 588, member of the American Legion and of Catholic faith. Edward enjoyed model railroads and loved playing with his grandson, Kaden.

He was employed at Globe Industries in Lowell, IN. Alfred took much pride in his flower and vegetable gardens, enjoyed old Westerns, but most of all loved spending time with his family. The family wishes to express their thanks to the entire IMCU staff at Riverside with special gratitude for Dr. Khanna and Dr. Haryani for the care and compassion shown to our beloved “Papa.”

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Robert Mumm, sister; Joyce Caldwell and son; Tony Mumm.

Sherman had previously worked for P&K Lure Company in Momence and as a Maintenance Technician at the Kankakee County Jail. He served in the United States Army.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lake Village, IN. He was a member of the Odd Fellows State Lodge. Sherman enjoyed bee keeping, fixing things, was a nature lover and liked photography.
